Pho is my comfort meal, but I think that the beef spring rolls from here might be my new go to. They were so fresh and savory. Another dish that I loved from here was the seafood combination crispy noodles. It was very tasty! I don't think other restaurants in Bakersfield serve this one, so I was pleased to see it on the menu. There's so much to explore on their menu like the banh xeo! Another dish that I could not believe I'd find in Bakersfield. These are foods I'd usually have to travel for. This restaurant looks small on the outside but it's actually pretty big on the inside. It's heavily decorated and the service is above and beyond. At the end of the meal, we were served complimentary sliced watermelon. It was so sweet and juicy. This is just one of the best places on Earth. I've never had a restaurant be so hospitable. During a previous visit they gave us some fresh oranges to enjoy while we wait. This time we were given oranges and cantaloupe and they were laid out beautifully! Some friends and I ordered vermicelli combinations and you can bet that this meal was nothing short of amazing. Im sorry I didnt take one photo this time oops, but this place has been consistently good. I got the lunch deal which consisted of a choice of items. I chose a shrimp Kabob, it came with a salad and a cup of won ton soup, and a cup of steamed rice but there are choices. Its always tasty and great having lunch there. Staff is always friendly and its great food. Portions are perfect for lunch and its decor is nice and its always clean even the restrooms are tidy. Came on a rainy day in search of a nice hot bowl of pho. The parking situation is a little crazy because the parking lot is small & shared, but I managed to snag a spot. The restaurant wasn't too busy on a weekday afternoon so the service was nice and fast! I love the community that the ladies have built with their customers, which was evident as people walked in and they both happily greeted one another and started catching up before placing an order. Onto the food, I ordered the smallest bowl combination bowl of pho. For the price, the bowl was small and not the most filling with only a small amount of meat. The soup was also some of the sweetest soup that I have ever had so I had to add tons of salt to fix it to my taste. I love sweet savory foods, but it was almost too much in my opinion. Came here on a Saturday around 7:30 pm. There was plenty of parking and only one group inside. We were greeted and seated immediately. The women working were all quick, attentive, and friendly. The inside is spacious and has a lot of Asian art and decoration. I decided to get Appetizers 1 and 8 for the pork egg rolls and Vietnamese crepe for the two of us to share. For entrees my boyfriend got the large N13. Hot and spicy beef soup and I got the large N5. Egg noodle wonton soup. The pork egg rolls came first. They were crispy and flavorful but the vinegar dipping sauce was weak and the only vegetables were 2 slices of cucumber. I assume most of the patrons for this restaurant don't appreciate a strong dipping sauce or wrapping the egg rolls in veg. I wouldn't get egg rolls from here again because i didn't think it was worth $12.50 compared to other places I've had. The crepe was good and crispy. No complaints here besides the dipping sauce. They provided lots of veg (but I would have liked some mint & Thai basil, they did have a lot of cilantro). The crepe wasn't gigantic like it normally is but had a lot of shrimp and bean sprouts. I really enjoyed my soup as it was pretty flavorful but a little on the sweet side. The noodles were interesting, I've never had egg noodles that looked like them. There was a lot of bbq pork, shrimp, and wontons. I think people who are more sensitive to trying new things (nothing wrong with that!) but WANT to try new things would find this is a good restaurant to try. The Server was super friendly. Interior was pretty outdated, old and dusty, but gave me a legit Asian restaurant vibe, so I was cool with it. The Bahn mi was soooooo good here. Good portion, and it was full of meat and fresh vege. The pork was flavorful and juicy. Pho was good too. I asked if I can get Pho with just tendons(leave out the rest of the meat), and they said we can only order what's on the menu. I clarified by saying just give me the combo Pho but leave out all other meat except for the tendon, and they still refused - which I thought was odd since I wasn't asking for extra tendon in place of the other meats. The Vietnamese crepe was pretty flavorless so wasn't impressed - huge portion though. The plates, utensils and table weren't that clean though. When you walk in, the ambiance is still the same as I remember: the red tablecloths, the ethnic decor on the walls, the Vietnamese folk music in the background. It's raining in Bakersfield so naturally, I want a bowl of soup. I settled for the Special Beef noodle soup. The broth was clear and flavored right. It was served hot and came with fresh toppings. My daughter ordered the BBQ Pork sandwich and I must say, I was pretty delighted that it delivered on flavor. The bread was nice and crispy, . The meat was tender and pickled veggies were sweet & tart. We ordered the pork chop meal to go. The chop was the thicker piece and marinated with lemongrass. So ironically the tastes of half of these dises were interesting. I'm unsure if it's the traditional way that the dishes were made but I wasn't a fan of the Bo Kho or the Thit Nuong. However, the Mi Xao Gion, fried wings and especially the Banh Xeo were on point. The Banh Xeo tasted like they used grounded uncooked rice which gives it a nice texture. I've never had another place in California that made them like this but it was a very welcomed taste!. Mi Xao Gion tasted like it should and is very cripsy. Same with the wings. This is a nice little Vietnamese restaurant with a long menu of typical dishes. The employees were helpful and the service was good. The person I was eating with asked for brown rice instead of white. It cost an extra $4, but my friend said the nutty brown rice they served was fabulous and unlike any she had ever tried. I've only had the pleasure of eating 3-4 of their entrees but the ones that I've eaten were delicious. I especially love their spring rolls served with a tasty peanut sauce. They are very friendly and always check to make sure they're doing everything they can for you. It's always clean and they do have background music playing but it's not so loud as to be disruptive. I was craving chicken noodle soup, but not pho and this was perfect. The clear chicken broth was full of flavor and I asked for glass noodles. Only downside was that it did not have any veggies. I ordered a side dish of bok choy and was able to assemble everything into the bowl when I returned to my hotel room. Tip: Call in your order in advance so you don't have to wait for it to be cooked. The coffee was perfect, actually some of the best I've had; it was sweet and strong. The Bahn Mi was very delicious. The chicken was tender and moist with a good BBQ flavor. The pickled veggies were fresh, sweet, and crunchy. I appreciated the addition of tomato on the sandwich, which I don't see often. I am leaving off a star because, for my personal taste, the bun was a little too toasted and could have used more mayo.
