    Thai Chili Chicken

I tried Basil Thai Kitchen when I was at the mall with my sister and a friend, and I'm so glad we stopped there. The guy working offered us a sample of their Thai chili chicken, and we immediately ordered from them right after tasting it. The Thai chili chicken had the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The texture was honestly so good not overly crispy, not soggy, just that perfect bite where your teeth sink right into it. It was cooked just right and full of flavor. The noodles were a bit on the dry side, but the chicken definitely made up for it. That alone is what would keep me coming back. Overall, it was a great experience and such a good mall food find.

The food is absolutely delicious! I ordered the beef noodle soup, and it was fantastic! The service was impressive as well; the staff demonstrated excellent customer service and treated us with respect. I loved my experience and will definitely be returning!

Looks cute, had high expectations, however, food tasted burnt and didn't finish. It's another Sarku/panda basically.

We also got the drunken noodles with combination of meats which we were not a fan of. Will definitely not be ordering this again. We were also disappointed that we requested extra meat and were charged for it, but it didn't seem to have extra compared to the pad thai. Another thing that seemed odd to us was that when paying at the restaurant upon pickup, the screen did not have an option to click "no tip", so that we could leave a tip in cash. Just something to keep in mind.

If you guys think this is great, we need to have a heart to heart. Let's start with the potstickers. I asked the waiter if I should get steamed or fried; he recommended fried. Well, let's just say I've had better potstickers from the grocery store's frozen section than this place... They were incredibly small and flavorless. If this is what is recommended, the steamed version must be inedible. Thankfully the Chicken Pad Thai actually had some flavor, but nothing to recommend to anymore. There is certainly better out there... This alone is definitely not a reason to go back. To make matters worse, it was pretty expensive... $31 for a plate and appetizer? No, just no. My favorite place at home for a huge plate and the same appetizer is $22, and my city is more expensive to live in. Heck, even amazing hole-in-the-wall Asian restaurants in Los Angeles (you know, one of the most expensive places to live) is cheaper than this place. And if this matters to anyone, the restaurant and restrooms are pretty beat up and dingy. It's not a comfortable or welcoming environment. If you're passing through like I was, don't be fooled by the good reviews. Keep driving.

The restaurant is located on California and Stockdale in a nonchalant retail center and kind of tucked in the back. There is plenty of parking and it is safe as there are a ton of lights around. When I walked in the place was a little busy with a few families wrapping up their dinners. They have a few booths, one long community table in the middle of the restaurant and then they have a large booth that can probably accommodate 4 to 5 adult adults. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. And my server was kind enough to explain the level of spiciness for each curry and how they are prepared. There is a sign at the check-in encounter that states they do not use MSG in their restaurant... So I'm sure this is a major plus for people that are sensitive to MSG. I ordered the eggrolls from the appetizer menu, a Thai iced tea with Boba, and the chicken curry, which is a yellow, mild curry, and that came with a side of rice. The Thai iced tea was delicious. Unlike other places, I've had it. It was not too sweet, just sweet enough. The Boba was tender and chewy and was also sweetened so whoever made it knew what they were doing. The eggrolls came out and were served with a side of what I will call cucumber relish. The cucumber relish was delicious and so refreshing. It contained finally sliced cucumber, as well as minced red onion, and some sort of sauce, and a little bit of sweetness. It definitely complimented the egg rolls. The eggrolls are vegetarian egg rolls. They do contain glass noodles. While they were delicious and fresh, I found them to be a little bit bland. The vegetables inside the egg roll could use a little seasoning and they could have been cooked a little bit longer to get the vegetables to steam a little bit longer. While I like my vegetables firm, I definitely don't like them raw, especially inside an egg roll. The chicken curry was also very tasty. And while it is the milder of the curries, it had a little punch. That is OK by me because I like spicy things. The curry broth or sauce was very flavorful and creamy. The chicken was also delicious. It was diced or sliced white meat, it looks like they use chicken breast, and you could tell that it was seasoned and potentially boiled in a seasoned broth. So everything blended together and was flavorful. The chicken curry also had some potato... I personally would like more potato and maybe some carrots. The white rice was also good... It was pretty standard and customary however they could add a little bit more. While looking at the menu, I noticed that they had lunch specials and they were very good deals. I recommend this place either for lunch or for dinner... I am definitely going back to try some of the other dishes. My meal was so good. I ordered pineapple fried rice to go. And of course, I had to taste it when I got home. It was tasty but could use a little more seasoning. Since it's been overnight in my fridge already, I am hoping that the flavors had an opportunity to blend together and I'm looking forward to enjoying it for lunch later today. Enjoy! Ps. I posted a picture of one of my to-go containers... they are great quality and leak proof, which is a major plus when you have to take saucy food home.
