Okay this is because I started trying other food outside my regular pho tai bo vien or Oxtail but tried the Pho ga probably the worst chicken broth I had at a pho joints. Maybe they made a mistake and gave me the regular beef broth. Probably what happened and instead of fixing it just threw some chicken and serve it... Mind you that chicken pho broth is mostly ginger and onion so it's hard to bs even the most newb pho eater. It's so easy see and taste the different between the two broth. The summer rolls here seem to be fresher than other establishments. The size might be ever so slightly smaller but it's just less filler and they use both pork and shrimp. The pho broth is my favorite. This is my go to place whenever I want pho but the only reason I gave them a 4 was because their service could be better. If you don't order right after you sit down then you might not get a server for a while. The food was okay; I ordered the Pho Dac Biet like I usually do when trying a new restaurant so as to compare my experience to other locations. The restaurant's atmosphere and design has a nice vibe to it, and it is clean and spacious. However, I thought the Pho was bland (especially the broth), and that the noodles' texture felt "off/unusual" for some reason. The menu is incredibly easy to read and choose menu items from, and as expected, the food itself cannot be beat. I must say that the service was by far the best part of our experience. The entire team worked together with a fluidity that was remarkable and our primary wait staff, Tai, was nothing short of amazing. He walked us through the entire menu and even showed us the tricks of the trade when it came to eating - from adding vegetables to our Pho and a breakdown of sauce selection. My boyfriend and I decided to try out this place for lunch today. I was more so excited because I saw on their menu that they had oxtail pho! My mom always put oxtail in her broth when she makes pho so I was ready to try it! Nice place, very spacious and modern. Started with of course the shrimp spring rolls. Then got our pho. My boyfriend got the shrimp pho with a side of meatball (which came in a small bowl with broth). I got the oxtail pho of course, which I must say was not a bad portion. The oxtails were great sizes and very tender. Mind you, I date a Jamaican so oxtails is a base of one of their signature dishes. We both thought it was great! One thing kind of negative but not really, I'm Lao sooo we like our broth with tons of spices. So of course I had to load up on sriracha and jalepenos. I am sorry, but after eating here I got sick for two days. The bowl and other utitensils were still dirty, on the side was dirty water marks stains and I could smell the previous food that was inside that bowl. The water contains a lot of bleach, and the vegetable wasn't washed well. I think that, they try to be "too fast" and lack in the hygiene section, thats why I give them a one star rating. Wow what to say. I was already having a rough day; was crying earlier so my eyes were puffy from tears. I came in; it took a while to sit me down which was fine as they were busy. I also used to work as a hostess at a high end restaurant so I understood how busy it can get. The thing that didn't sit well with me, however, was the fact that they took AND I watch them take water that's already been used by another table to place onto mine. The water cups still had water in it & the pitcher was almost out of water. I've never been mistreated this way going into any establishment but I guess leave it to the Vietnamese to treat you like shit. I sat there for a good 15 minutes & they took the order of the guest that came after me. I couldn't take it anymore so I just left. For me, I am a very picky person when it comes to pho in general, but if I ever have to recommend a pho restaurant to anyone in the Duluth area, it would have to be Pho House. Everything about Pho House is going in the right direction. I have tried their pho, boun bo hue, and stir fried noodles and it's all been great. The sizes for pho range from medium to x-large. Their specialty noodles are one size only, but still filling and the flavors make up for it. The atmosphere is very modern and updated. They have tables and also a long booth with tables. The service is really attentive as well. Their are always a lot of waiters who are there if you need anything. The only thing keeping them from having 5 stars is that even though they do have a huge X-large bowl, the bowl seems the same proportion size as a large but with just a bowl two times the size. Service is very inconsistent here. Sometimes it takes forever to flag a waiter/waitress down. Recently, there's been an issue where it smells like feces in the restaurant. Hair in food, dirty utensils. Not going back. Pho is pretty good though. Why would you put dirty spoons at the tables knowing they were dirty. Some Vietnamese pho places are very terrible at cleanliness and terrible service which this place is not to short of. I always eat some type of pho variation, and I really like there "Bun Mam" their fermented first noodle soup. I believe on the menu they call it seafood gumbo noodle soup. My family went to eat today and everything went very bad. We loved to eat Pho here but now I guess we will not coming back. There were 8 people so they added 18% tip to the bill. We also order some to-go food in separate bill and they added 18% tip to the to-go food. We told the manager and they said it doesn't matter if we dine-in or to-go they still add tip. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I came here on my lunch break so I only had about 45 minutes knowing pho is always quick. As soon as I got there I ordered my food. After waiting 30 minutes and everyone around me is getting their food but me I ask how much longer on my food? The server informs me they did not enter my order but it would be right out. At this point I didn't have time to wait and eat my food so I asked for it to go. I went back to work late and hungry just thinking I will eat my food when I get off then. The food was ok but the experience was not good. I took a friend to try Vietnamese food and try Pho for the first time. She enjoyed the taste but couldn't finish all and wanted to take it home. Left over Pho does not taste good if left in the broth as the noodle gets soggy. So I asked for fresh broth. They said that it would be $2 extra . I said sure. They brought out broth that was less than half of the plastic container which would not be sufficient for the noodles. I asked for a little more. They brought out an empty container and said that it would cost another $2. Seriously? Nickel and dime your customers? I don't think we will be back. read more
