    Bahn Mi Sauteed Beef Sandwich
    Brian D.

Tried this place for the first time last year and it's turned into one of my weekly my go-to's. Probably my favorite thing is their Hu Tieu Bo Kho (stew with noodles). The beef is so tender, and you add a little spice to it and it's the perfect meal for this time of season. I also enjoy their fire wings a lot. Probably the best around. The Shrimp Salad (Goi Tom) is also excellent and unique. It has salad with cabbage, mint, daikon carrots, onions and shrimps, topped with fried shallots and roasted peanuts and their own homemade sauce. They've recently added the Banh Mi sandwiches as well and these are also very good. I'd do these at lunchtime only. For excellent flavor and spice, Pho Home is at the top of my list! 5 stars!

Very fresh and good portion spring roll

Just came from my work near O'Hare airport. Had seen this Vietnamese restaurant at this plaza in Harwood Heights. It's interesting to see the change of ethnic restaurants when I used to work around here and then this was a Chinese restaurant. Very quiet Low key if not modest Vietnamese restaurant. As usual I ordered my usual favorites the exception of the beverage. And ordered their strawberry lemonade according to their menu is in-house and when I tasted it it was very fresh. There was no gimmick in there in House non alcoholic beverages. Service was very friendly and somewhat quick not exactly very quick. There's spring rolls which I'm surprised had a lot of flavor especially with the shrimp and the freshness of the wrap up cilantro. Vermicelli noodles in which they gave a very generous if not hearty portion. The particular phone I ordered which was two weeks or p2 was flavorful but portion wise was a little small. I still left satisfied but then again I'm older and I don't have the voracious appetite like when I was a 20, 30 or early 40 year old. Do come here if you're in Harwood Heights, Illinois with a change of Asian ethnic variety.

The service was great! The food was very well seasoned and warm It was a nice meal for a cold day. There are bathrooms which were nice. However, the server did have to come to re confirm our order because she was taking our order based off of memory. There was no booklet that she was using. The iced coffees also tasted more like chocolate milk rather than coffee.

Hot and Spicy Beef (Bun Bo Hue) and Rice with Crispy Chicken

Really solid Vietnamese restaurant in a small and somewhat busy shopping plaza. Gives a hole in the wall feel and was consistently busy throughout our dine-in lunch on a Sunday. I had been craving Pho for weeks and wanted to nip a cold in the bud. This was a comforting choice. I didn't end up with the Pho (lol!) but I still got a soup - Bun Bo Hue. It was divine!! Filled with beef, thick noodles and the perfect spice and temperature. It was enough to share and a great complement to our other entree, the crispy chicken. I highly recommend both! Comes with rice, dipping sauce, little salad and egg. We ended our lunch with a Vietnamese coffee treat and the waitress was really sweet and made sure our coffee wasn't, haha (per our request). She was the only server that afternoon and was still attentive and brought everything out timely. I will definitely be back again...and this time to try the Pho!

Amazing Hủ Tiếu Bò Kho (stew with noodles)

My friends and I checked out Phone Home for the first time the other day, and we all agreed that we'd be back soon, especially because my friend lives right down the street from here. When we walked in, the worker was friendly. She told us we could sit anywhere in the dining room, and after we did, she quickly brought over menus. I was surprised by how spacious the place was, especially for a restaurant in a strip mall. Everything looked clean and well-kept, which is always a good sign. One of my friends and I started with the Spring Rolls ($6.95), and they were fresh, light, and delicious. Each order comes with two rolls stuffed with shrimp, noodles, mint, lettuce, and bean sprouts. The peanut sauce on the side wasn't something I expected to love, but after the first few dips, I couldn't stop. It was so good! The pho was also phenomenal, and we were all impressed by how affordable the large bowls were for such high quality. I ordered the Hủ Tiếu Bò Kho (Stew with Noodles) [$15.95]. The beef was unbelievably tender, the broth was rich and flavorful, and every ingredient mixed well and tasted like it belonged in the broth. I added a little sriracha for some extra heat, which made the stew even better. If you're a pho lover, this spot is a must-try! But even if pho isn't your thing, they have plenty of other options like Bánh Mì and Vermicelli Noodle Plates. I can't wait to come back and try more!

First time here! Loved this place. The veggie egg rolls were so yum. I had the thin steak pho! It was great super delicious and filling! Great service! And attentive service I want to try the Vietnamese coffee here! The place is very nice inside not fancy just prefect for a causal lunch or dinner!

Solid neighborhood Vietnamese joint. I stopped by here since it was a close walk. The location is on a strip with plenty of parking, driving seems the norm for most of the clientele. The location decor is very standard for a Vietnamese restaurant. Banh Mi Cha Lua Traditional choice. The bread is toasted, crunchy, and light. Meat filling is a little on the light side. Veggies fresh. Bun Bo Hue Spicy brother to Pho. In other restaurants, you'll see knuckle bone and other cuts of meat. This location didn't do that. The meats in the soup were only sliced. The broth had good flavor, but was lacking depth. Spice level was nice. Veggie accoutrements were fresh. Would try the pho for a comparison.

Always have a good experience here! From the Bay Area, I am always in search of good pho that compares, I would say this does! Service: great service! And if you check in on Yelp you get 15% off!! Ambiance: casual

We ordered take out from this place tonight when our regular place was closed (Pho Tam). Broth all had to be reheated as we did take out. The pho tai (beef) was good. We ordered 4 orders. It has extraordinarily lean & excellent meat - the best I've ever had. And we've had lots of Pho - from Argyle St places to Milwaukee, WI and at least 4 other area places. We love pho! The beef broth is on the plain side but adding the accoutrements gives it the needed boost. The spring (aka fresh) rolls are good (light on lettuce & mint) and individually wrapped which I appreciate so they don't dry out, the peanut sauce is different, not peanut-y or as thick as other places but fine. The fried "egg rolls", which we normally call spring rolls, were good, not sure what they stuff them with, tasted like some sort of meat and the dipping sauce had a nice light (mild) heat. My daughter had the pho ga (chicken) and loved it - she's 7. :) Thought I took more pics but nope, you'll have to try them yourselves! We'll definitely return and we recommend this place to you!

Another cold rainy day and I wanted something comforting. Never tried Pho Home so took a chance on ordering in. They did not disappoint! Broth was still hot when it came and perfectly spicy! The noodles, meats, and topping were packed to the side. Fresh herbs and vegs that were served were mint, cilantro, bean sprouts, red onion, red cabbage, and lime. I also ordered chicken wings and chose the sweet sauce and egg rolls. Wings were crisp and sweet but not overly sweet, so good! Egg rolls were tasty as well. Thai iced tea was okay, it had too much cream. It would be very good if there were less cream, I personally like my Thai iced tea with a splash of cream. Overall a tasty dinner and will def try more items!

Stopped here on the way to the ORD airport from Wisconsin for a quick lunch. Egg rolls are fried to perfection, it's so crispy! The pho beef broth is very flavorful and didn't feel overly fatty like other broths I've tried. Service is quick and simple. The overall restaurant is clean and spacious, nice lighting and music

We stopped in on a first visit with a Groupon and will be back to this business for sure! Some of the best pho we have had we both agreed! Meat is extremely tender and broth exploding with flavor! The eggrolls and Vietnamese coffee were outstanding also... I would get them both again for sure! Business is BYOB also-SCORE!

Does the chicken pho come with grilled chicken pieces of shredded chicken?

Chicken pho unfortunately is still a soup so we still use just chicken meat. We do have marinated children skewers if you want to add that to your order or just substitute it in and pay the difference.

We arrived on a Saturday around 7:30 and they started getting packed and had a wait by 8. They are cash only but if you forget they have an atm inside as well! Prices are so shocking! Each bowl was about $14 which is the cheapest I've seen a bowl of pho in a looooong time. Food comes out pretty quickly. We order the appetizer fried shrimp Rangoon, bun Bo hue, pho dac biet, and avocado smoothie w/boba. The base of soup for both dishes was AMAZING! Good depth of flavor and not lacking anything. The bun Bo hue had a ton of meat and they even have the pork blood cubes! Pho dac biet was lacking a quantity of meat but good variety. The only complaint I have is the Avocado smoothie was very bland and didn't have much avocado taste. The boba tasted old because it didn't have its chewy texture anymore. I looked around and noticed that everyone in the restaurant was wearing a coat. We waited for 5 minutes, our waiter came by and brought menus and water, and I asked him if the heat was broken. And he told me yes the heat is broken. I don't know what the temperature was inside, but the carryout business was very busy and there were about 8 or 10 tables with people seated. Again, every single person was wearing a coat. I asked if the heat was going to be fixed right away, and he said no no maybe tomorrow. We left. When I go to Jess Cafe, I'm not looking for fine dining, or white tablecloths. I want dinner. Relatively quickly, inexpensively, and consistent. What I don't want is to freeze my ass off while I'm dining. We figured we'd come back the next night. Tuesday 1-20-26, I called to ask if the heat had been fixed. I was told no not really. So we stayed home for dinner. That's okay. Wednesday 1-21-26, had a meeting to go to, so my husband went out for pizza with a couple of friends. Today, Thursday 1-22-26. Long, long day at work, and it wasn't even time for lunch! My coworkers wanted to order Chinese food for lunch but before I committed I thought I would check with Jess Cafe to see if they had heat, because if they did my husband and I would go there for dinner. So I called. A nice guy answered the phone and I asked if they had heat. And he told me that it wasn't too bad, about 50° to 55°, but most customers were wearing coats and hats inside. So I ordered Chinese lunch with my friends at work and decided to write this review. The food at Jess Cafe is okay. It's not great, it's a little inconsistent, and some things are just not great at all. They also don't offer a lot of the standards that many Cantonese restaurants offer. Their potstickers are weird, they don't have shrimp toast, and they don't have the stuffed crab claws. We really like those. And they're Thai, and Korean food some of its passable but some of it is just gross. And what they charge for a small dish of kimchi you could buy a giant jar for the same price at Costco. It's nonetheless it's pretty good. As I said usually consistent, but here's my big complaint. And this is a message to the owner. A tall, good looking, skinny guy who lately has been running around in an orange down coat. Mr Jess Cafe - I don't care how you spend your money. It's your money. You earn it, you get to spend it however you want. But - if you're going to drive around in a big honking BMW SUV and perk it right in front of your restaurant fix the fucking heat so that your employees and patrons aren't freezing their asses off. You're in the hospitality business offer some hospitality. And park the fucking BMW in back because it's really kind of shitty to perk it right in front for your employees and customers to see whenever you want is freezing their gonads off. That's all I got thanks
