After two years of coming here, Viet Taste is still our favorite pho restaurant! Every time we come here, the pho hits!! Hot and flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles, a generous amount of steak/beef balls, and a side of bean sprouts and sliced onions upon request. They are very generous with their portions and once you're finished your meal, end off with one of their yummy fruit slushie bobas -- we like their strawberry and their kiwi slushies, made with fresh fruit. Shout out to Z for being the best server ever! She knows our orders and always takes good care of us. We are customers for life :) heads up, they are CASH ONLY! So bring cash, otherwise they have an ATM inside their restaurant as well.

This place stands out from the average pho place because: -soup temperature is hot, not just warm. You can see the steam coming off of it -you can taste the warm spices in the pho broth. Actually has character -good amount of veggies to add in, even for a single order -fish sauce at the table. It's nice to not have to ask for it -chili oil with actual heat -vietnamese people come here so it must be good The portions are good, decent amount of meat and noodles, prices are reasonable ($12). Solid place

Our go to spot for Pho! Great pho, good drinks, and cool employees. Never really seen it slow and that's for good reason. Not too small as well. Good size. FYI, Cash only!

Viet Taste is a no-frills CASH ONLY casual Vietnamese restaurant. They are apparently very successful in that they have multiple locations throughout the Chicagoland area. I can certainly vouch for this location to be fairly busy with both a loyal clientele and newbies like me. The place is not very big and is clean with a friendly and helpful staff. I ordered the Lemongrass Chicken with Egg Roll Bún. They served a fairly good size bowl and portion of grilled chicken with 1 egg roll cut into 3 pieces. The vegetables were fresh and crispy and the vermicelli noodles were nice and soft. It was very balanced as no one item overpowered the bowl. The bún was delicious and everything I expected. Prices are also very reasonable. Overall, Viet Taste serves up a fairly good and authentic bún and I suspect their pho is as good. I hope to try their pho some time on my next visit to the area.

Shockingly good. Clean, comfy chairs with tables high enough that you don't have to stoop to eat your pho, a weirdly cozy detail. I didn't realize they were cash only until I got there, but there's an ATM right there so it was no sweat. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the food came out SHOCKINGLY fast. I think I ordered my pho and spring rolls and the spring rolls were at my table in less than five minutes. Crunchy, white hot out of the fryer, and nicely spiced. The pho was killer. Great, strong, lemongrass-forward flavor. My only tiny complaint was the brisket included in my pho was barely there, but honestly I didn't care at all. An extremely filling bowl of goodness while I was under the weather - and did I mention it's $11.25????? Most places around here won't serve an appetizer for that price. Can't recommend Viet Taste strongly enough, I've been talking them up to everyone.

We found this by chance, on the way to the airport. We are about 15 min away. Since on a time crunch, service was great. We ordered right away and got our food quickly. We were able to actually enjoy the food, rather than just rushing to eat. The food was delicious!! We had pho and the broth was light with lots of flavor. The amount of meat was fair for the price. A hefty bowl was under $12. You can't beat that! This is a Cash only spot, so don't forget!

The food here is still really great! The prices are also not bad. A bit steep for boba but they were willing to split one boba into two cups for my kids so that is a plus. It's also still cash only which is fine because the service is quick and efficient. The place is a bit small but we had a good experience and the food is worth it alone to come here. The pho is the best pho ever. You don't have to add anything to the broth other than spice if you prefer it. That's the definition of a perfect bowl of pho!

This is my go to place for a comfort meal! Been here a lot and the food has been consistently great. You seat yourself. The menu is simple and to the point. It's a small cute store with enough seats to rotate. For dinner, it's almost consistently filled. My usual is the bun bo hue, which has actual blood cubes and I load mine with basil and veggies. I have enough left over for another meal. I really like their spring rolls too. Great peanut sauce for dipping. The drinks are also nice. The milk teas are fragrant and the fruit ones are refreshing. My favs are jasmine milk tea and lychee+mango smoothie. The smoothies do cause the tapioca pearls to harden from the ice so be warned. CASH ONLY. If that wasn't clear enough. There is an ATM machine in store if you need more cash.

This place is small but very good. CASH ONLY btw. Came here on a Saturday afternoon. Almost all the tables were taken. We got seated right away and ordered some crab Rangoon and an avocado smoothie. Really good. I got the brisket pho and it was delicious on a cold rainy day. The noodles were good and the broth was my fav part. My husband got one of their Korean bbq sandwiches, he said it was ok. The staff are attentive. We will definitely come back.

Great place! Small and intimate but with a very big menu! We had a hard time deciding what to get, but we both enjoyed the dishes. The soup was hot and fresh, the wings were very flavorful and done just right. We enjoyed our evening and will be coming back soon!

Trying to find good Vietnamese food in Chicago can be elusive, and I want to recommend this great spot. The service was great and the place has a homely ambiance, like a cozy spot that you will love. Highly recommended

Banh me with pate, pork roll, and roasted pork. Delicious and so very fresh!

It's a little overpricey but it's actually very good but there's some differences than how they make certain dishes that are traditional. Instead of using your traditional tenderloin and meatballs for pho they have New York strip they have ribeye and they even have filet mignon I had the rib eye which to me did not taste any different than a traditional beef flankher beef tendon pho. It was fresh like most Vietnamese make their pho soup. I ordered a cane sugar drink which was decently good it wasn't a wow kind of good we're had a unique taste that was appealing. As for their spring rolls with shrimp it was a unique way they wrapped it it was a bit looser and they didn't use as much cilantro a lot more lettuce but tasted fresh a different version of it. Ambience is very modern but it's more of like a bar the way they're trying to display their restaurant service was actually pretty friendly and quick the pho came really quick despite ordering spring roses and appetizer. Otherwise a little pricey but I guess worth it I would come probably every now and then there's not too many Vietnamese restaurants until now on this side of Chicago another one was in Schiller Park I was going to go to called broccoli.

Long time customer, first time complainer…read more Tried to go to dinner with my husband on Monday night 1-19-26. We walk in, were seated and I thought it seemed cold. I looked around and noticed that everyone in the restaurant was wearing a coat. We waited for 5 minutes, our waiter came by and brought menus and water, and I asked him if the heat was broken. And he told me yes the heat is broken. I don't know what the temperature was inside, but the carryout business was very busy and there were about 8 or 10 tables with people seated. Again, every single person was wearing a coat. I asked if the heat was going to be fixed right away, and he said no no maybe tomorrow. We left. When I go to Jess Cafe, I'm not looking for fine dining, or white tablecloths. I want dinner. Relatively quickly, inexpensively, and consistent. What I don't want is to freeze my ass off while I'm dining. We figured we'd come back the next night. Tuesday 1-20-26, I called to ask if the heat had been fixed. I was told no not really. So we stayed home for dinner. That's okay. Wednesday 1-21-26, had a meeting to go to, so my husband went out for pizza with a couple of friends. Today, Thursday 1-22-26. Long, long day at work, and it wasn't even time for lunch! My coworkers wanted to order Chinese food for lunch but before I committed I thought I would check with Jess Cafe to see if they had heat, because if they did my husband and I would go there for dinner. So I called. A nice guy answered the phone and I asked if they had heat. And he told me that it wasn't too bad, about 50° to 55°, but most customers were wearing coats and hats inside. So I ordered Chinese lunch with my friends at work and decided to write this review. The food at Jess Cafe is okay. It's not great, it's a little inconsistent, and some things are just not great at all. They also don't offer a lot of the standards that many Cantonese restaurants offer. Their potstickers are weird, they don't have shrimp toast, and they don't have the stuffed crab claws. We really like those. And they're Thai, and Korean food some of its passable but some of it is just gross. And what they charge for a small dish of kimchi you could buy a giant jar for the same price at Costco. It's nonetheless it's pretty good. As I said usually consistent, but here's my big complaint. And this is a message to the owner. A tall, good looking, skinny guy who lately has been running around in an orange down coat. Mr Jess Cafe - I don't care how you spend your money. It's your money. You earn it, you get to spend it however you want. But - if you're going to drive around in a big honking BMW SUV and perk it right in front of your restaurant fix the fucking heat so that your employees and patrons aren't freezing their asses off. You're in the hospitality business offer some hospitality. And park the fucking BMW in back because it's really kind of shitty to perk it right in front for your employees and customers to see whenever you want is freezing their gonads off. That's all I got thanks
