Take out bun bo hue-bbh $15
Irene L.

Friendly staffs and delicious food. Place is small and bathroom is clean. I ordered bun bo hue-bbh and pho dac biet. Both were $15. Paid in cash. Wait time was around 22 minutes. A lot of customers were Vietnamese and they played soap opera on the TV. Bbh was amazing. Broth was full of depth and it had pork blood in it and tendons. So good. The pho was good too but bbh was better. If I have to rank the bbh of Philly, cafe Diem is my favorite, pho duyen comes in second and 3rd place cafe nhan.

Bun Bo Hue

I'm a fan of the bun bo hue here. It was nice and flavorful, with a good kick of spice. The portion size was a bit big but it kept me full for some time. I also got to try the pho ga and the broth was fantastic. Service was pretty quick during lunch time on the weekday. It's a small cozy spot so it's great for a quick meal.

Hu tieu

Always down to try new pho spots and I quite enjoyed this one. We started, as we often do, with the spring rolls. These were pretty nice: a good amount of filling and substantial size. The sauce wasn't as peanuty as I am used to but I didn't terribly mind that. We got two dishes: bun rieu and hu tieu. The former was one I was not familiar with, a minced crab noodle soup. I was really pleased with this in the end. I added the shrimp paste they offered, which I am glad I did very sparingly as I didn't realize how fishy/salty this could make it. Added some of the chili oil and the other traditional toppings and ultimately found the noodles to be so smooth with the Vietnamese ham, minced meat, and pork knuckle well done. The latter, the hu tieu, was pho I am more used to with a nice clean base and a mixture of meat. We aren't so fond of organ meat so I avoided these slices. I appreciated the addition of a quail egg, however. Overall a good meal.

I was really blown away by this unassuming place. Pho Duyen is one of the best no frills authentic Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I love the fact that the menu is small which allows them to put more focus and care into each item. My family and I had the bun rieu, bun bo Hue and house fried chicken and everything was excellent. The ingredients were fresh and the soup broths had a good depth of flavor and so well balanced, not ladened with msg or other artificial seasoning. Each bowl of noodle soup came with a generous portion of toppings and a side of fresh vegetables. My husband said the bun rieu tasted like my mom's (our fav) and I would have to agree that it is very similar. The bun bo Hue had a bit of a kick but not too spicy and the broth was so comforting. Even the cha lua (Vietnamese pork roll/ham) in there was delicious and I usually don't even like cha lua! Also, we generally do not sip on the broth at any other restaurant but we almost finished our bowls at Pho Duyen. Lastly, the fried chicken with rice came with a side of fried rice, sweet pickled dikon radish and a small soup. The chicken skin was well seasoned, crispy and addicting. I really hope this small local restaurant thrives and can continue to serve this caliber of food. I cannot recommend this place enough. A must try if you love Vietnamese food!

DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS! Everything on this menu is so good. The Pho dac biet, Fried chicken w. Rice and Bun Rieu are my go to. I think this is the best Vietnamese restaurant in philly. Thank you for keeping it authentic.

Chao long - rice porridge with offal meats

Cute, small family owned Vietnamese restaurant. Very limited menu but most mom and pop places are like that. They make what they are best at and that's it lol. Service was friendly, they do speak English. It's rare to find the rice porridge with offal (pork intestines, liver, etc) and this was a solid offering, the bun Bo hue was recommended by the staff and was excellent! Extra fee if you pay by credit card, but at least it's a payment option lol. Give this cute place a try!

Small little Vietnamese restaurant that serves a few traditional items on their menu. I ordered the Bun Rieu which wasn't bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the meatballs as I found it to be all pork and no crab at all. The chicken and rice dish was tasty. There were bits and pieces of garlic cooked into the rice which made it very flavorful. The only downside to the restaurant was the AC. We went on a hot day and it seems like the AC unit wasn't strong enough to cool the place at all. We were all pretty sweaty after eating. Service was good. I believe there was only 1 person doing it all but it's small enough that they didn't need many servers.

Beef pho special and some drinks on the side-soy milk and iced tea freshly made

I've been waiting for this place to thoroughly be open but everytime I wanted to go it was closed. I think this was prior to it actually being open and I couldn't locate them on google even though I live a block up. They are closed on Mondays so maybe everytime I wanted to go they were closed lol. However, the place is very cute and small but spacious. The pho was so good I never ever eat an entire pho but the broth was so good and everything was FRESH. So glad to finally have a place I can go to order out close by and go in to eat. I hope this place stays!

The biggest surprise was the tái (eye-round steak), yet still retaining that pleasantly chewy texture of undercooked beef; the gầu (fat brisket) was thick and crisp, fragrant but not greasy--who would have thought I'd find brisket fat here? This showed the restaurant's precise control over the broth temperature and the thickness of the beef. Almost all phở restaurants claim to offer authentic raw beef or various cuts of beef, but very few can truly make customers feel the difference. The restaurant's decor is simple but spacious and clean; the service is average, but very efficient. Efficiency is essential for phở, otherwise the beef would be overcooked in the hot broth. After all, the essence of a restaurant is food, and for such affordable ones, it's gratifying to see them spend most of their costs on the food itself.

Pho Today is an enormous restaurant which does authentic Vietnamese very well. I honestly believe…read moretheir broth is better than Pho '75 across the street which seemed rather sweet to me. They have great meats. Their hearty Buns will blow your mind: as noted, the House Special is practically enough for two people. You'll also see many people eating the Prime Rib Pho which is quite different. to me it looks a bit unwieldly (much prefer meats cut into the broth). Their Bún Riêu, Duck Soup (served with a unique ginger sauce and bamboo shoots) and Bún bò Huế all hit the mark. Pho Today gives you two choices for the classic Fish In Pottery Pot, bone-off and bone-on. Many Vietnamese restaurants don't carry this anymore. One thing I should tell y'all is that, when you order your meal, ask for the homemade chilli oil.....they won't give it to you unless you ask: it's made with garlic and is really special. If I were to nitpick I'd suggest upping the ante on the spring rolls which are more of a footnote here. I much prefer the larger spring rolls, cut into 4 sections served with basil, veggies and lettuce for wrapping. But, yea, this place does a really good job and seems to be the go-to for both Vietnamese food and serious eaters.

Though not a huge fan of their lighting; a bit too bright. Fast customer service and they check back often. Large bathroom in the rear. Clean.
