Lunch yummy

My go to restaurant on Washington Ave for Vietnamese food. The egg crepe was cooked perfectly- fresh sprouts and shrimp. Beef tips were delicious- tender and flavorful. Pho broth was tasty but not the best. - id stick to the entrees vs soup Service was attentive and came to the table quickly I'll be back again! .

Canh chua tôm Bò lúc lắc Cá kho tộ Rau muống xào

I think this place is good if you are looking for Viet family style meal or just a lot of options on the menu. Overall, food is like standard or above standard. Canh chua (the sou) is normal, not as good as the flavor in Vietnam imo, and also I don't like how they add celery.. Bò lúc lắc (shaking beef) is well-seasoned and very tender. Rau muống xào (stir fried morning glory) is delicious but a little overcooked because the texture is too soft. Cá kho (pottery pot fish) is yummy. Gỏi cuốn (summer roll) is normal but very affordable. Bánh ướt itself is good but the fish sauce is not; the meat comes with it is normal. Broken rice is good too except for the chả trứng (egg quiche). The mì xào giòn portion is huge, well seasoned, and noodle is actually crispy. The congee is a little disappointed. Dồi has way too much pepper, and barely has other organs in the congee. Curry is okay, doesnt have coconut milk like the usual Vietnamese style curry. Chim cút was good. Flan doesnt look pretty but is delicious as it is served w coffee not just caramel.

I went with a big group of friends for dinner. This was my first time dining at the restaurant, and the food and service were good. We had a couple people running late and the staff were very patient and let us take our time to order. For appetizers, we got spring rolls and banh cuon, and both were great; the spring rolls were very crispy and the banh cuon chewy. It was my first time having banh cuon (a friend who had the dish in Vietnam ordered it for the table), and the texture reminded me of cheung fun but a bit thinner. For my main dish, I got a broken rice dish with charbroiled pork and an egg quiche. I can't remember which dish exactly, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Over all, the meal was affordable and I had leftovers for at least one meal. I look forward to coming back!

Any restaurant that has 270 things on their menu (mathematically) can't be good. This is just an irrevocable fact. Jerry's Deli in Southern California couldn't pull it off neither could The Cheesecake Factory. It's just a physically impossible feat to try and concoct that many recipes under one roof! Well, with that being mentioned Nam Phuong Vietnamese restaurant here in South Philadelphia did actually pull this off. Somehow Nam's kitchen CAN make 270 different dishes and do them well. Going over their very extensive menu, the task at hand seemed impossible. Well, all of my concerns were extinguished as each of our ten dishes for us ten patrons came out perfectly. One dish was just better than the next dish; and so on and so on. I'd love to write about each of our choices, but I didn't pay this bill and I didn't know the names of what we ate. It was all classical Vietnamese food that we all enjoyed. So, why not 5 Stars? This really large round table for ten should have had a "Lazy Susan" in the middle so all of us could turn this lazy susan in front of each person to serve themselves. The fact they didn't have this apparatus made this dinner distracting. We were all trying to be so polite, orderly and correct in dishing out our food that it became challenging. Despite this inconvenience, Nam Phuong was an excellent choice for our Pre-Thanksgiving dinner.

I wanted Vietnamese, saw good reviews, and knew the neighborhood so decided to give it a try. The free parking is a huge plus!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a large dining area with a lot of tables. It wasn't very busy on a Saturday night. The menu is huge....a lot of choices. For a first timer, it was taking a long time to decide so I recommend checking the menu online first to save time. We tried the soft shell crab special, which was absolutely delicious. I don't know what the sauce included but it was on the sweet side. The summer rolls with shrimp and pork were perfectly wrapped. I'm allergic to nuts so I couldn't try the peanut sauce. I was told it was delicious. It even had chopped peanuts on top. We also shared the broken rice with chargrilled pork. This was my favorite dish. The pork was thinly sliced and had amazing flavor. The vegetables were fresh. They have a full bar. The prices are reasonable for the fresh ingredients. There is a discount for cash.

This is my go to spot on washington when friends are in town and they need more than. Just pho from Pho75. I've tried Pho Today that replaced Viet Huong next door but I still come to Nam Phuong as first choice. We've been coming for decades. I haven't been disappointed by any meals here although remembering prices when an entree was $7 is a fond memory. I don't get to eat out as much as I used to but when I do this is generally my go-to carry out in the area.

Nam Phuong is one of my go-to spots for Vietnamese food in Philly. The pho is flavorful with a rich, clean broth, and the portions are generous. I also recommend the grilled pork vermicelli -- perfectly charred and packed with flavor. Service is fast and friendly, even when it's busy. Great spot for a casual, satisfying meal.

Nam Phuong makes legit Vietnamese food. I've brunched and lunched here with family and friends for years. Nam Phuong is a popular South Philly restaurant. Thankfully there's plenty of seating; room for a crowd. Driving? There's (tight) shopping center parking, and street parking too. They make a mean bowl of pho and there's plenty on the menu if you're not in a soup mood. The lotus root salad is totally killer, the bo luc lac is savory. Who doesn't love beef cubes? Recommended if you need a Vietnamese fix! Dependable, efficient service. Credit accepted. PRO TIP: Want to spice up your meal, and Sriracha won't cut it? Ask for red chili peppers. (I didn't know they offered those until this past week!)

If you ask someone from Philly where to go for Vietnamese food, I bet a lot of them would recommend Nam Phuong, it's practically an institution here. We've been here a few times whenever we are in town and the food never disappoints. It's no frill, fast and never disappoints. I personally always get the Bun Bo Hue here, it's like a nice warm hug on a cold day and a soothing reprieve on a hot day. The Bo Luc Luk is always a good bet as well, tender and perfectly seasoned. On the opposite spectrum, the Vietnamese coffee is always a hit or miss, sometimes taste burnt, sometimes disgustingly sweet. So order that at your own risk! Service is fast and prompt. Space is large and airy. Always a great experience

Beef papaya salad

I came in for evening service. Atmosphere is pretty dark. Plenty of seating inside, which is great for large gatherings. There were several tables of diners. I was promptly greeted and brought to a table. I ordered two dishes since they were about to close soon. Deluxe Beef Pho and Beef papaya salad (which was recommended). 5/5 for Beef papaya salad was fresh and delicious. I would definitely come back to eat this. 3.5/5 for Deluxe Beef pho - Broth was mediocre, but did have a large helping of meats.

Loved my visit to Nam Phuong! I went for dinner with a large group of friends and the staff were incredibly accommodating. They came by with both tea and cold water, and allowed us to really take our time to order. We ordered the spring rolls and banh cuon to share. The spring rolls were perfect with great crunch and great flavor. This was my first time trying banh cuon and I really enjoyed the soft chewy texture of the rolls. I also ordered their bun bo hue and was incredibly satisfied. The soup had a good kick from the spice and a well-rounded depth of flavor. I love pork blood and was so happy that they added a huge chunk of it to my noodles. I will definitely be back to Nam Phuong in the future! There are so many options on their menu so everyone will find something they enjoy!

Shaky Beef over Watercress

My daughter & I came in earlier and we were seated right away. We ordered shrimp and pork summer rolls and egg roll (which were both very skimpy for the price we paid) for appetizers. The shaky beef was flavorful and delicious. The charbroiled pork platter was yummy. On the flip side, shredded pork tastes like it was going bad though. We took the Banh Xeo home since we've ordered too much food for only the 2 of us.

This place never disappoints and has a large variety on their menu. They are QUICK to get your food out & budget friendly

This place is FIRE!!!…read more Best oysters I ever had, and they came with a lot of oyster liquor (natural juice that oysters produce, a mix of seawater from their habitat and their own internal fluids such as hemolymph (the invertebrate equivalent of blood) and cellular fluids). The oyster liquor makes it so the oyster remains fresh btw as well which is obviously uber important. We had oysters from Maine, Rhode Island, and Connecticut and all of the ones we chose you could taste the unique differences from one to the next. Crab cakes were on point; the vegetables were next level with the side of asparagus coming with roe on top of it. New England soup was actually light and not heavy like most creamy NE soups which I appreciated as it made me have room for the rest of the meal. We also indulged in some Butterscotch Pudding which in my view had three distinct flavors. The very top tasted similar to sweet creme Brule, the actual pudding was creamy and delish and there was a garnish of whipped cream I believe on top. All items surpassed my expectations and we will definitely be repeat customers. Highly Recommend. As always people SYOY!!!!

I think the last time I was at this corner munching on something it was a different place. But, on…read morethe multi-festival Saturday, second of May in the year 2026, I can definitively say that I've now tried the little seafood spot on one of our favorite corners, that we're almost always just passing by to get to Time. First, the friendly, informative service: in an oyster bar with a rotating fresh selection, that's an underrated must. We were seated outside, given a rundown of the menu and "as it's ready" flow of the kitchen. We got a pair of cocktails, the Melonata and a Tequila Julep. I think the Melonata might be my new summer favorite. It looks like Ecto Cooler but doesn't give a distinct feeling of growing diabetes while drinking it. In grown up terms, it was well balanced, not too sour, not too sweet, and deeply herbal, fruity, and refreshing at the same time. The Tequila Julep was a Mint Julep with tequila instead of bourbon. It was good, though it's hard to mess that set of ingredients up. We got a selection of oysters and a shooter. Every oyster was distinct and different. Felt like there were no "different on the menu but same in flavor profile" that you can sometimes run into. This implies it's well curated. I have no idea, because I'm not an expert fishmonger, nor do I know whether that term specifically applies here - case in point. Anyway, I got 2 from Washington State, and another from Cape May. The first WA was large, buttery, and had the satisfying chew of young coconut flesh. Semi sweet. The second was smaller, sharper, and briny as hell - tasted of the ocean. And finally, the Cape May was mild and fresh, a good balance between the two others. It was a perfect little tasting menu that I'd created by just ordering the first three guys off the list. Not sure what selection came with the shooter, but the concoction in the shot glass shooter was bright green and pickly. Glad I got it as a contrast to the classics with what I assumed was red wine vinegar. Besides that, we snacked on salmon avocado toast with the Calabrian Chili Oil. It was also very, very good. Sometimes things are better than the sum of their parts. This is true here, but it's also worth noting that the individual parts - the bread, the smoked salmon, the chili oil, the avocado, the shaved onions - were excellent in their own right. We will be back for sure.

Placed an order for drinks, oysters and the rest of happy hour menu and choice selection of regular menu. I assumed things would come out staggered. Usually cocktails and raw bar would come first. But no. Raw bar came after sandwiches and wings so that threw off the ambiance. I still hadn't received my drink as more food was being delivered around me; and while I was watching one bar staff crouching under the bar on their phone, after a while I was like...do you know if my drink is on the way? It was her. She forgot. Literally It's first seating at the bar. Anyways wings were fine. oysters and clams great. Shrimp toastie & fish Sandwich fine. But when it came to the Al Pastor Octopus that I generally love here, this one was both chewy and slimy. Like the whole sleeve of the octopus had a slime layer- , was it the tentacles part? I had to keep spitting out. Not a nice chargrilled taste but each slice chewy with slime layer. Bleh. So disappointed. Threw the $20 into the trash. Didn't even get an "oh no" from the staff. Like why did we not want it when asked and I made the face. each bite was slime We settled up and immediately went next door to eat at double knot and that, per usual, WAS 5 star amazing.

I also added Sausage, which was $1 extra. I was very happy with the Snow Crab, because the legs were nice and thick. I used the cracker tool to get the meat out and it worked pretty well. The crab meat was delightfully tender, flaky, and was full of flavor made even tastier in the buttery garlic sauce. The shrimp had to be peeled, but was quite juicy and succulent. The veggies were fresh, soft, and cooked perfectly. The sausage was wonderfully well seasoned. I also got to try Coconut Shrimp, Hush Puppies, and Sweet Potato Fries. The Coconut Shrimp was lightly breaded, amazingly crispy, with the great taste of coconut. The Hush Puppies were also decent, and satisfyingly crunchy. Sweet potato fries were yummy and addicting.
