Friendly local spot that is good to-go. Cheap versions of Vietnamese food with some Americanized spins. Tried a good number of the items but have yet to had the soup

Needed a quick lunch in front of good Shepard rehab. This was quick, easy and delish! I didn't get to try their famous crab fried rice / only me eating but their banh mi was solid. I believe less than $10 and delish! Looks like a small mom and pop place. Definitely recommend trying if in area.

Some of the best Crab Fried Rice I've had in a very long time. I ordered it to go and it was still piping hot. The service is always amazing when I order. Definitely a favorite. Overall 8.7/10

Excellent Vietnamese place that is worth the hype! Philly definitely has plenty of great Vietnamese options, but this one stands out in terms of taste and price. The curry tofu banh mi has an insanely flavorful aïoli with crispy and juicy tofu. The spring rolls and chicken rice plate were also very tasty. Indoor is clean and has a few tables for seating, and the service can be a bit slow if they are busy, but they are always extremely friendly.

We had a hankering for Vietnamese, specifically for some Banh Mi's. I remembered I had bookmarked Bistro Southeast sometime ago, so we popped right in to place a take out order. The service and efficiency of our order was great. Note: They are not currently allowing indoor dining, I ordered the Curry Tofu Banh Mi and my husband got the Vietnamese BBQ Pork Banh Mi. The bread was basic and the pickled carrots could certainly use more pickling but overall I really enjoyed my Tofu Banh Mi. I also got an order of Summer Rolls. These were great with a generous portion of fillings rolled up within the thin rice paper. The accompanying dipping sauces of honey cilantro vinaigrette and house made hoisin sauce were tasty and flavorful.

I had a hankering for some seafood fried rice and therefore decided to order takeout for #YelpsBigNightOut. Super glad that I did! I ordered the Crab Fried Rice and some curry wings for delivery. My order arrived neatly packed. The whole fried soft shell crab was still crispy and the rice was quite warm, signaling that it was freshly made to order. The wings were also nice and crispy. I took one bite of my rice and instantly knew that I had made the right choice. Bold flavors, lumps of crab, crunchy texture. Overall, super happy that I ordered from Bistro Southeast My only downside (and the reason for the missing star) was that they did not clean the mustard goop out of the crab . I took one bite and . I grew up eating blue crabs and knew exactly what I had bitten into. Maybe some people like it but I never have. After scraping all of that out, I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of my meal.

Bistro Southeast Salad With Shrimp

If I had to eat at one restaurant for the rest of my life it would be here at Bistro South East. Okay maybe not eat inside the actual restaurant but I'd order takeout from here everyday for the rest of my life if I had a sugar-mama to bankroll me. The inside of the restaurant is on the small side and the interior is not super warm or welcoming. But I didn't come here to enjoy the ambiance. I came to eat delicious Asian food and crush vast amounts of seafood. My favorite item on the menu is the Bistro Southeast Salad with shrimp. Generally salads are something I force down because my doctor told me to do so. Here it is a menu item I truly enjoy. The salad has lots of random things like carrots and cucumbers that are dressed in some sort of Asian vinegar dressing that makes me feel healthy as a dew drop. I love the crab fried rice. They don't skimp on the crab, they even top it off with a soft shelled crab. Not too greasy. Not too salty. Perfectly peppered with seasoning. I got the seafood boil the first time I came here. I know it is a "seafood" boil but I could not get enough of the sausages! Next time i go for a seafood boil I'll probably order ten extra sausages. Generally I stick to the less messy menu offerings. Especially when ordering takeout. The food here is hands down the best food in grad hospital. But I will keep trying other restaurants in hopes of finding a new champion in the neighborhood.

I come here for happy hour every now and then because the prices are really great, and both the food and drinks are delicious. We started with the specialty cocktail and the Thai Punch, and both were really good. They had fruity undertones, and the alcohol wasn't overpowering at all -- I could easily have a few of these. For food, we got a few orders of the kung pao chicken wings. They were perfectly crispy with a really flavorful glaze. The portion size was also very generous, especially for the happy hour price. These are a great example of Asian-style fried chicken wings done right. I definitely want to come back and try their full dinner menu since I've only been here for happy hour so far. Luckily, it's not too far from where I live in the city, so I'll definitely be back!

Place is super trendy with an open concept kitchen and dark lighting. I might be getting old because I find myself wanting more lighting lol Service is spectacular and if it's your first time here they'll fully explain their menu and recommendations. This time our server explained the tasting course, but we decided to order a la carte. A refreshing Ming Mule came out first and it was just what I needed after being inside of a stadium on a 100 degree day. We also ordered an order of the pork bao which was so tasty. You can never go wrong with a pork belly appetizer and each order comes with two. The shrimp pad Thai had all the flavors you expect from a classic pad Thai but with their own twist. The Szechuan chicken was crispy and had sweet notes. Definitely two great picks. Opted out from dessert because we were so stuffed but they have a great ice cream cone option if you are in the mood.

We loved getting to try a variety of flavors, and everything was beautifully prepared. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, the drinks were amazing, and the entire meal was absolutely worth it. We left already looking forward to coming back and would highly recommend it! The only minor downside was that it got pretty warm inside. It was during the heatwave, so I don't think the A/C was able to keep up, but it definitely wouldn't stop us from coming back. We sat in a cozy corner booth and could easily hear each other although we could not read the menu or clearly see what we were eating the lighting is so dim (and consistent with the gothic theme). Now onto the food. We ordered 9 dishes (waiter suggested 8) and it was way too much for us and I'm a big eater! Edamame dumplings - 4/5, may be just me, but I don't really enjoy mushy fillings to my dumplings. The broth they came in was amazing though Tuna rice cracker - 4/5, not really a cracker, more like a crunchy mini loaf of rice topped with tuna and a slice of jalapeno - delicious and much more filling than what I was expecting. I only gave a 4 instead of 5/5 for taste because of the unexpected presentation of the "cracker" Shishito pepper small plate - 5*/5 outstanding! I could eat these all day they were so delicious. I'm not sure how they flavor these or what light crunchy sprinkles were on top of this very generous portion of peppers (I would estimate maybe 30 peppers?) I'd go back just for this dish Black cod fried rice - 3/5, I should know better that a miso black cod will be somewhat fishy, and with it spread in chunks throughout the fried rice I'd say this was my least favorite dish. Crispy brussels sprouts - 4/5, a solid offering, not much to write home about Crispy tofu - 3/5, not particularly unique although it sounded amazing when described - cubes of deep fried tofu drizzled with peanut sauce on a bed of cilantro pesto. But not that tasty and not that interesting Scallop robo - 5/5, excellent with a kick from the spicy powder on these, note these are very small portions, three slices of scallop (not even a full scallop or if these were full scallops they were very thin) on a stick Ribeye scallion robo - 5/5, also excellent, with three chunks of tender grilled beef Mochi ice cream: passion fruit, matcha - 4/5, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of mochi ice cream, I'd rather just have the ice cream or have it with a brownie or between two cookies So overall, service was great, not overly attentive. And the food was very solid with an outstanding exception with the shishito peppers. I'm not sure I'd go back as it is very dark in there and if I was seated on the first floor I'd not be able to have conversation with my dinner mates.

The triple‑fried wings arrived blisteringly crisp yet still juicy, coated in a Sichuan‑style dry pepper seasoning built on long-hot peppers, dried chilies, scallion, and a light peppercorn tingle that layered warmth rather than blunt heat. The spice never drowned out the chicken; it framed it, so each bite felt precise and intentional rather than overwhelming. The pork wonton soup offered the exact right counterpoint: a clean, quietly rich broth with tender pork wontons and fresh greens that refreshed the palate between wings. Taken together, along with a chilled Ginger Ale, the meal felt composed and deliberate without ever losing the simple satisfaction of a good lunch, and I would recommend this order without reservation to anyone who values both execution and flavor.
