My favorite Pho spot in Austin. My friends and I come very often, both locations are great. My two favorite dishes are the vermicelli bowl and tofu pho. The broth is always full of flavor! It's always a difficult decision when deciding on my two favorites. What I love the most is the cafe su da ( I hope I spelt it correctly) it's the iced coffee with sweet and condensed milk. It's made fresh every time you order. I've had it at a few other places who pre make there's and it's not the same. It's a quite simple restaurant, nothing fancy but very friendly place. If you want good pho that's not ruined by all these overhyped twist on foods then I recommend Pho Dan. read more

I've been coming here for YEARS. All of the servers recognize me and we would have small talk and they even knew my usual orders. I don't know what happened but they started being cold towards me when I came in with my boyfriend, especially one server in particular. I don't know his name but he has a mole near his mouth. I went yesterday to have dinner with a friend and right off the bat the server with the mole is kind of cold towards me, no big deal, maybe he had a bad day, but he continues to be super cold and basically tries to get us out the door. When it's time for me and my friend to pay, I tell him we're gonna split it and he looks at the other server and starts laughing. I was so confused and tried to brush it off but I told them I would pay for the spring rolls and they started laughing even harder and were saying something to each other in another language. Isnt that messed up? I'm a customer who's been going for years and years and tips well and doesn't complain if the service is slow but you're laughing because I want to split dinner with a friend? Both of those servers suck, the one with the mole and the one with the glasses and red hair. The manager used to be super sweet and there was another lady who was also sweet but they all turned cold when I brought in my boyfriend. We have been nothing been kind and if this is how they treat a regular, don't bother coming here. You'll find better pho elsewhere. read more

There are surprisingly a lot of pho places in the area but we finally got a chance to check out Pho Dan over the weekend! It's located next to a bunch of businesses so there is ample parking. The space is fairly large inside too so there are a lot of tables. My husband and I both ended up ordering some pho. One nice thing is you have the option to select between 3 different bowl sizes - small, large, x-large. I got the small which is usually what I go with. The flavor was great. There wasn't as much protein as what I'm used to seeing and the portions were a bit small for the price. We ordered the chicken spring rolls as an app as well and still left a little hungry. We also ordered a strawberry smoothie for a drink. We went with a smoothie mainly because neither of us could stand the ice water. The flavor of it was really off. There are a lot of pho options and plenty of ways to customize your pho by adding on additional items as a side if you prefer a more customized experience! read more

This place is the real deal! I found it on yelp and saw photos of a shrimp dish that just looked so good...and I don't even like shrimp. I just had to see what else they had to offer. I stopped by after work on a Saturday to order take out. I talked with two or three of the staff and they were all helpful and friendly. I ordered the chicken vermicelli bowl with a fried egg roll for me and the shrimp dish I saw in the other review for my friend. Both of us thought it was a delicious meal! The chicken was flavorful and not dried out. The noodles were perfectly done, good consistency and not mushy. I didn't try the shrimp but my friend said it was good, too. There are other Vietnamese restaurants closer to home but I will make the drive to this one, no problem! read more

After reading all of the enthusiastic reviews, I was hoping for a great experience at Pho Dan. Unfortunately, it was a middling to not-so-good meal. The Bun Thit Nuong was very tasty and cooked to a juicy and tender point. I also appreciated that for the pho dishes the vegetables and noodles were packed separately so you could add them in yourself. Generally though, the pho was kind of bland for me. The red bean pudding was truly nasty however, and did not look anything like a proper pudding. It was a bunch of uncooked red beans stuffed into a styrofoam cup with some cream and ice on top. It smelled rancid too. It was bad enough that I would not want to give it a second try. I'll have to try some other Vietnamese restaurants in the area-there sure are enough of them. Was in town for an appointment and my son loves pho so we are breakfast here. Was not anticipating them to be open at 9am but it worked out. Service was good. We were seated quickly and food came out quickly. Food tasted great. Large portion sizes and flavorful. I ended up taking 1/2 of my large to go for later I was so full. My son ate the whole extra large! The spring rolls were fresh and good. I had to log in for a virtual meeting I couldn't get out of and while there is no free WiFi the place was very calm. If you're debating between a small or large, go for the small. Yes, you're going to doubt me once you see it and think, "there is NO way a small can fill me up". But, trust me. My significant other & I both got large bowls, and between the two of us, we could have created another bowl for a third person. The broth is sadly bland. Knowing how pho broths are made, this one wasn't steeped long enough. You can tell the process has been rushed. I never add the Hoison sauce when eating pho, as I feel this is equivalent to adding A1 Steak Sauce to a steak. However, I ended squirting more than the usual. The inside is nothing spectacular... but the phood is good!! You can order several sizes but the large was way more then I could phinish. Phlavors are awesome... and the chili sauce they give you to use will put some pep in your step! I like mine hot so I loaded in the jalapeños, Sriracha, and the chili pepper sauce... ummmmm but don't do the stupid thing I did... I rubbed my eye after I tore up the jalapeño with my hand!! OUCH!! I love their pho!! All the bad reviews are wrong. The broth is full bodied with aromatics - star anise, cardamom, cloves, coriander. They make it from fresh ingredients and it's delicious! We went for lunch around 11:30 and there were maybe two other tables, so we were a little nervous. But after we ordered, the place started filling up, and now we know why! The food is delicious. I ordered spring rolls and the #22, noodle broth with shrimp and pork. My husband had a beef bowl. The spring rolls were typical, fresh and light, and the peanut sauce was delicious. The noodle bowls came with the sprouts, basil, and jalapenos on the side for topping. My broth was unexpectedly out of this world flavorful. I could've drunk it with a straw. The rest of the soup was pretty good, but I mostly just wanted the broth. Next time I might try something with their beef meatballs. I knocked off a star for the service, which was inconsistent. The only time we saw our server was when she took our order. Another server brought our food. Good thing we didn't need water refills or any other assistance. We used to love pho dan and were regulars here. Over time, they have decreased the meat significantly. Our 3 year old son eats an adult size bowl here because of how little they give. I called to confirm hours, they closed at 8 tonight (Wednesday) but we're still open for to go. Something about pho is warm and comforting during the chaos, and my car broke down so I was craving some comfort food. Ordering was easy, they have pho ready to go, I could pick it up immediately. Of course I got there a bit after so it wasn't super hot when I got it - but that's my fault. The meat was in the white clamshell container with the noodles; tripe, chopped brisket, raw something and fatty brisket. I especially loved that the raw was packaged in plastic to avoid the juices running and the lean brisket was chopped up. It's tough to chew in larger chunks, so thin sliced and chopped was super appreciated. The fatty brisket was a good size, half a dollar bill or so- same with the raw cut of beef. I wish the jalepenos were packaged in a little container since I don't love spice; it was packaged in a bag with the basil and bean sprouts so I just avoided the few that touched the jalepenos. Loved that I got a little Asian spoon, some places give regular spoons and it's just not the same! Overall it was good, fresh ingredients and good packaging. The pho broth wasn't as comforting as some, but maybe it's because I let it get cold and reheated it. I simply felt it lacked a depth of flavor over some other pho's I've had. But they're open where a few others in the area are not and it was good, so four stars is well earned. I wouldn't mind going back. read more

The Bay Area is spoiled with delicious Vietnamese cuisine (San Jose in particular), so I had high standards when I saw Pho Dan listed 4 stars. Well, I'll save you the suspense. It's not even close. Sure, the food is okay. Edible, yes. But we're on Yelp, and the entitled foodie in me doesn't want edible. I want a hot, soothing, full-bodied bowl of pho. The pho here is 1) relatively expensive for the price ($13 for a large) and 2) flat from a taste perspective; there's no saltiness or beef aroma. For all I know, it could have been a powdered soup base. The bun bo hue (BBH) here is not any better. Cold chunks of pork blood accompany a soup stock that lacks the spicy kick of a normal BBH. This isn't an indictment of the staff. I just want to level-set with any tourists, that this may not be up to your normal pho standards. read more

This place really deserves 5 stars for two reasons: food and customer service. Food: This is the best pho I've had hands down. I've had pho in many different cities and this one has the best flavored broth. The char broiled chicken is amazing. The meat portion is very generous and the pho hits even better in the fall and winter. Their food quality is always consistent, fresh, and amazing. Customer Service: The owners and staff at this restaurant are extremely friendly and accommodating even for families with small kids. Before covid they always were extremely nice to our family. Now that covid is a thing, the staff continue to be very polite over the phone when taking orders and in person for dining in or pick-up. Busy place! The Pho Ga was excellent! We got an XL and it was perfect for sharing between the two of us. The chicken tasted roasted and the broth was so flavorful! Probably the tastiest Pho we've ever had and we eat it everywhere during our travels. We're used to a lot more herbs and sprouts to add, but I guess it was adequate. There was chicken in every bite, so that made up for the lack of herbs. We also got 2 orders of the fried Vietnamese rolls and they were a miss for us. We've had way bigger, better, and tastier rolls elsewhere (Taste of Asia in San Antonio is the best). Also, 1 leaf of lettuce to wrap around 6 slices of roll just doesn't cut it. This is my new favorite pho place in Round Rock. I've been to most pho spots around and have reviewed several but over the past several years I've come to Pho Dan and have always left happy. My usual is pho with lean brisket and eye of round. Add splashes of hoisin and chili sauces, jalapeño and fresh basil and you have "Tex-Viet"! Broth is rich and satisfying. Location is fairly easy to find, being at the west edge of La Frontera, near Men's Warehouse so pretty convenient. Not fancy by any means but also still has reasonable prices unlike some competitors. This was my second visit to Pho Dan. Both times was for dinner. Each time we were greeted by a server and seated at a table with a menu. Both times we ordered Shrimp spring rolls without the vermicelli noodles in one roll. They were awesome to accommodate that request. They make their spring rolls nice and tight. I ordered the char-grilled pork slices with egg rolls. It's my go to when I go to a Vietnamese restaurant. So far this spot has not disappointed me unlike some other places. The meat is thin and nicely charred. The food comes out quick too. We were hungry so it was good that our dishes came out quickly. The only thing I don't like is the smell of Pine-Sol when they started mopping around 8:30pm. I get it that they were closing at 9pm. Just my personal preference. read more

My go-to for pho, spring rolls, and Vietnamese rice dishes in Round Rock when I can't be bothered to go to Austin. I like the broth of their pho-which is the most important part. Just the right amount of umami taste, without me having to add any sauces to it. They offer different types of spring rolls, and I like the ones with pork & shrimp, or just shrimp only. Pro tip: after the initial dipping into the sauce, grab a soup spoon & spoon the sauce onto the opening of spring roll & eat it. That way, none of the fillings fall out & into the sauce bowl. I like that they also allow me to order from the kids menu if I want a little bit of everything, and not just one big entree. Go & enjoy! read more

I was seated as soon as I entered the establishment. I ordered the grilled pork spring rolls as an appetizer. They were really tasty, especially with the peanut sauce. For my entree, I ordered the small seafood pho bowl. My server brought it out in less than 10 minutes. The bowl was hot and tasted exactly as it looked, delicious.
