Pho Crystal is a solid spot for pho and other Vietnamese fare if you're in the Allen area! My fiance and I have visited twice now because it's close by and it definitely satisfies that pho craving when we are in the mood for it. On both occasions, we started with the spring rolls (grilled pork during our first visit and shrimp during our second visit), and these are fresh and delicious with the peanut sauce it comes with! Unfortunately, they did forget our shrimp spring rolls on our second visit and we had to ask for it after we had both received our bowls of pho... Now onto the main dishes. My fiance has ordered the special combination pho on both occasions and he loves it. This bowl comes packed with different meats, and the broth here is really good. I've had the BBQ & wonton egg noodles and the pho with eye of round steak / flank / tripe. While I loved my bowl of pho (no notes), I do wish the bowl of BBQ & wonton egg noodles was a bit more flavorful. The best Pho I have had in Collin county. This will be my go to spot. The flavor was spot on and had so much depth. I enjoyed it. I had never had curry pho before. Pho Crystal has so many of the intangibles that appeal to me: divey vibes, no pretense, family run, highly rated, locals approved. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here, but I think as a neighborhood pho spot, it more than does the job. It is as dingy as it looks from the outside. There is some outdoor seating options, but the interior seating is a bit cramped. They have select tables that would work well for a small group, but everything is pretty tight. They're so popular that there are waits on the weekends and it's often full during weekday lunch as well. Thankfully, the staff is on it. Whether it's clearing tables or handling checks or getting orders through, they're getting people in and out as efficiently as possible. Just be aware that sitting on a grimey table or grimacing at the bathroom shouldn't come as a surprise. The main star of the show is their pho. Broth wise, it's clean and has a good mix of meats for their dac biet bowl. It's not destination worthy (#1) but this is tasty for all other standards of Viet food. Their goi cuon and cha gio are solid and the nem nuong meatballs were a nice surprise. Their Vietnamese coffee was plenty potent and kept me wired for the rest of the afternoon. Price wise, it's nothing back breaking but the regular bowl of pho is $12 leading up to a XL (xe lua) size of $15. They do accept credit card and the parking is shared through the strip mall. We've brought countless friends and family here, supported this small business, and always had pleasant interactions--until today, when we were treated with blatant disrespect, rudeness, and zero accountability by one of the owners. I am honestly shocked and deeply upset at how we were spoken to and treated. We ordered three bowls of pho: two S10s and one S4. Somehow, the owner taking our order wrote down two S4s and one S10. When the food came out, we calmly told her there was a mistake and we had only ordered one S4. Instead of correcting it or even listening, she snapped at us and flat-out refused to make it right. At first, I thought she was joking because her tone was so unnecessarily aggressive--but she was serious. She just said, "I'm not changing it," with a rude, dismissive attitude. So I ate the wrong dish just to avoid conflict. But what followed was truly unacceptable. When we went to pay, my husband gently said that mistakes happen, but the way she handled it was rude and disappointing--especially since we've been regulars for years and have never caused any issues. Instead of showing even a shred of professionalism or humility, she raised her voice, got defensive, and said, "I've worked here for 15 years--I never get an order wrong!" Basically calling us liars over a bowl of pho. Then she said, "I don't care if you come back. Don't come back." And as we walked out the door, she shouted after us, "I don't give a sh*t if they come back or not!" Who says that to a customer--especially one who has supported your business for YEARS? We've always been kind, respectful, and understanding. We treated this place like family. And to be treated like this over a simple misheard order? It's insulting, hurtful, and infuriating. There are two sisters who run Pho Crystal. One of them has always been lovely. But the other sister has no idea how to handle customer service and clearly does not value customer loyalty. We've brought friends and family here, supported the business through slow days, and recommended it to others countless times. When the food came out, it was two chicken and one beef. We calmly let the owner know there was a mix-up. I thought maybe she was joking at first--the tone was so unnecessarily harsh. But she doubled down. So, to keep the peace, my wife ate the wrong dish. At the register, I respectfully said the issue wasn't the mistake--it was the way it was handled. I reminded her that we've supported this restaurant for years and just expected to be treated with some decency. Her response? She raised her voice and insisted, "I've been here 15 years--I never get an order wrong." She was essentially calling us liars over a bowl of soup. Then came the part that stunned me. I was craving pho but didn't want to make the 35 minute trek to Garland so decided to check out Pho Crystal. I am so glad that I did because I have my new pho spot. Ordered the Pho Dac Biet which rivals Pho Bac and Pho Mac (dare I say, exceeds). The broth was very clean and steaming hot (important!). Noodles were perfectly cooked. Onions and herbs were proportional to bowl size. Homemade chili paste was a nice accompaniment to the meat. Went on a Friday afternoon and it was not busy. Service was very friendly and efficient.
