I've visited Zaza Thai twice in the last few months. While I had a great experience the first time, my most recent visit just 2 days ago was very mediocre in terms of the food. On our first visit, my fiance and I had the Zaza money bags, khao soi with tofu, and pad kee mow with BBQ pork. Everything was really solid in terms of quality and flavor profile, and I especially loved the BBQ pork in the pad kee mow! Because we had such a positive first time here, we were eager to visit again and try a few other items on their extensive menu. This time around, we had the roti & curry, mussaman curry with chicken, and pad see ew with BBQ pork. Out of these three, the roti & curry was the best dish and I was a bit let down by the other two items. While the flavor of the mussaman curry was good, the texture of the chicken was a bit odd to me. And for the pad see ew, the noodles were sitting in a lot of liquid despite this being a stir fried noodle dish, the texture of the noodles were a bit hard (like they weren't cooked long enough), and the BBQ pork was in giant chunks with a lot of fatty / inedible parts (unlike the nice slices we got in our pad kee mow during our first visit). I continue to check out new restaurants in my neighborhood. This time, we visited ZaZa Thai, which opened for business several months ago. My wife and I haven't had Thai food lately. So it was a good choice. We ordered our favorite Thai dishes: fried rice noodles (pad kee maew) with seafood as the protein, and Tom Kha soup noodles. We liked the fried rice glass noodles, which were moist, tender, and savory. The veggies like carrots, tomatoes, and broccoli added some visual appeal to the dish. There were a decent amount of seafood: shrimp, squid, and mussels, which all tasted fine. We loved the Tom Kah soup noodles. The broth was creamy and flavorful with a strong aroma of coconut milk, which I like, and a lovely citrus taste. The service was great! The waitress were friendly and came over to check on us a multiple times. The manager also came to greet us. The interior looks clean and neat. Unless other typical thai restaurant, the decor is pretty modern, but still shows the Asian ethnicity. All the seating is padded for extra comfort. I went for the first time this week and loved it! The service was very quick and the waiters were all so nice. We ordered the Pad Kee Maew Glass Noodles which is something I've never seen at other Thai restaurants, but it was amazing! It was the perfect combination of pad kee mow and glass noodles- 10/10 in my opinion. We also ordered the combination fried rice- all the meat was perfectly cooked and everything tasted amazing together. We also ordered the orange chicken, which was okay as the chicken was not all covered in the sauce but the sauce tasted wonderful and tasted like it was homemade. The ambiance of the restaurant was cute on the inside and very clean. There was a stunning bar on the side and everything was nicely decorated. We ordered pad thai noodles, pad khi mao, crab fried rice, roti kanai, pad siew, and for dessert, mango with sticky rice and Thai tea. They all taste excellent. It has a very small kick to it, just enough to warm your mouth. I wish i could take it home with me Crispy Red Snapper - this is the best crispy red snapper ever !! The flavor was delicious and it was a little sticky and sweet. I couldn't stop eating this ! And the rice and sauce taste amazing together ! That sauce can go on anything istg. Objectively, it was delicious but he prefers a flavor a bit more on the sweet side; this one was savory and perfect for me ! The service was great ! I came here with my husband on a random Tuesday at 3 pm, so it was a very light crowd and service was quick. The restaurant was very clean and I loved the big tables and large comfortable chairs throughout. For the food, we both absolutely loved the broths, and we agreed they are the best broths from any Thai food restaurant we have been to. However, we thought the ingredients in the soup and curry could have been better, the carrots in my curry were hard and the chicken was just okay in the soup. read more

Disappointed! If you have 4 or more in your party. It's an automatic charged an 18% SERVICE FEE (not to gratuity)!!! This is NOT on the menu or on their website. We had 4 adults and 1 toddler. Each of adult ordered an appetizer and a meal plus one baby oranges chicken for the toddler. We also ordered 2 desserts. When the bill came, I thought that was the gratuity, but when asked what was the service fee? And your expected to tip on top of thatThis was a shocked to all of us, generally it for party of 6 or more, but I've never heard of a service fee for dining out. This isn't a fine dining establishment and I'm not sure I've seen that as a fee. Food was mediocre at best. The food was NOT authentic. I had the Khao Moo Dang, the sauce was watery, pork was fatty, chewy, and not lacked flavoring. The baby orange chicken, was on the healthy side, but kids are used to it being crispy with sauce. This was chicken with typical brown sauce and an orange thrown on top. The same sauce as the lemon lime tilapia. The food did not come out all together and when it got to the table it was auctioned off. The last adult meal came out 15 mins after the first person got theirs. Everyone's meals came out at different times. Ambiance: it's a nice clean place as the restaurant's been open for 3 months. That's about all it has going. I can't even begin to express how every single bite seemed like authentic Thai love was poured into it. I ordered (#80) The Red Sea Basil. It has mushrooms, onions and carrots in a red chili sauce, and I opted to add shrimp. I was offered to make it spicy 1-5. The chili is very potent and flavorful. The shrimp were plump and hearty. The vegetables were generous and, OH MY, the sauce- it was just so amazing. It was a red brothy sauce with the perfect amount of seasoning. I know it's inappropriate to lick the bowl, but I did silently scrape each morsel into a to-go container. The service was great, prompt and kind. The ambiance is perfect. Just left Zaza Thai on Coit in Plano and I'm still doing the happy-food dance. The menu? A photo album of temptation. Every dish has a picture, so ordering is basically swiping right on everything. The bar is stocked, the vibe is lively, and the décor is so gorgeous it makes you wonder if your living room should try harder. We found out they have live music on Tuesdays--sadly we went on a Saturday, but hey, that just gives us the perfect excuse to come back mid-week. I ordered 2 appetizers to go from the menu with pretty pictures. I specifically asked if the beef would come with the vegetables pictured and was told it would. To my surprise, upon opening the securely wrapped package, there was no vegetables. I had what appeared to be dried beef strips with sauce. The beef was a step above jerky, the egg rolls were fair. We ordered the duck pho, miso soup, basil fried rice, thai tea, and the bbq pork with rice. I was super impressed with their thai tea, it is probably the best I have had! Their bbq pork had a really good sauce, and you can choose the spice level. Basil fried rice was so tasty and so was their duck pho. I am definitely getting their pho when I come back, as the broth was super tasty and did not need any add-ins. We also got a complimentary mango sticky rice dessert, which comes out hot and fresh with perfect in-season mangos. Wonderful experience and it was their first night open. ZaZa is a beautiful restaurant. It was honestly really good and the portions were huge. Best Money Bags I've ever had. Staff was very attentive. There was a lovely guitarist/singer playing great music and low enough we could whisper and hear each other. Prices are different from their McKinney location online (and they don't have the Pork Ribblets on the menu at this location) so hubs took photos of the whole menu. This location is not BYOB. Ate here on a weeknight with wife about 5 PM. Place was almost empty. Very beautifully furnished, nice ambience, comfortable seating. Waited on immediately by a very pleasant waitress. She brought water but never asked us what we wanted to drink, so we were left with water. Ordered steamed dumplings, crab rangoon for appetizers, and vegetable soup and combination rice (chicken, shrimp and beef) for entrees. Waitress asked how spicy I wanted my combo rice on a 1-5 scale, so I told her 3 out of 5, some spicy but not too hot. The dumplings were delivered hot and were very tasty. The crab rangoons were cold. The first bite was a little warm, but the rest was just plain cold - not cool, but cold. Like they forgot to defrost them? We called over the waitress who was very apologetic, said they'd comp us and took the remaining crab rangoons away. She brought some back later. They were much warmer, even hot, on the ends, but the inside cream cheese was still very cool. Obviously not heated up adequately. We quit eating them. They never comp'd them on the bill. Also, the combo rice was extremely bland, like they not only didn't put any spice at all on it, but no salt or anything. Bleh. If that's a 3 out of 5 for spicy, I wonder what a zero or 1 is? I looked closely at the bill afterwards and on my selection it said , "Combo Fried Rice - Not Spicy". I don't think 3 out of 5 qualifies as "not spicy". At least it tasted good, so I brought it home and had it for lunch the next day...after adding Siracha Sauce. Overall, quite a disappointment. read more

Went to Zaza yesterday for the first time and ordered the standard Pad Thai Chicken. Pad Thai consisted of just noodles, chicken and peanuts. It did not have bean sprouts, egg yolk, and onions like every other Pad Thai I've had. It was awful! I brought it to the attention of the manager and they did nothing. They would rather lose business then correct it and make the customer happy. I will not go back there again. read more
