First walk in and I get a gas (propane) smell, very strong. Plenty of seating and large section (semi private) for a large party. Welcoming when you first walk in to find you a seat. Parking is typical for a mall setup. Plenty of awards but latest The Pad Thai was ok, the seasoning is missing or something was added that gave it a different taste. Ordered chicken and there was slices of fried tofu mixed in. Also no slice of lime was added. Not sure if it comes with and they forgot. The fried rice is bland and need hot sauce. You can order the hot seasoning on the side to get your own heat. The size of the main dish and the size is plenty of food for 2ppl. Make sure you ask for utensils and napkins for your to go orders as I had to ask. read more

This place has a nice ambiance and wonderful service. The food is pretty good too. I was disappointed by the tom kha as it's the same base as tom yum but with coconut milk and that's not what it's supposed to be. The green curry is really good though. The yellow chicken curry was phenomenal! I've gotten more into Thai food and discovered a love of chicken curries. This one had giant hunks of tender chicken and perfectly cooked potatoes. I got it with the steamed veggies on the side which tasted amazing mixed in. Price was a bit high (around 20 before tax for the curry with veggies side), but probably really standard for the area and the taste was so worth it. The interior was clean with upbeat / trending music playing. Our server came to check on us multiple times. I got the one out of five spicy level, which worked great for me! We have had this thai food on multiple occasions and it was amazing. This has been one place where we have been ok with coming back to. Typically, we have the yellow curry and pad thai dishes first unless there is something else we would like. The yellow curry was rich, tasty, full bodied and with lots of rice. You can split this with two people if you really wanted to. Hands down such a delicious dish. The pad thai - This and Sabaidee are my two favorite pad thai dishes. Tofu, chicken, or even shrimp. You really cannot go wrong with the protein here. It's some of my favorite pad thai beside my wifes. Finally, the edamame is good. Again, cannot go wrong here. The kosher salt on it is good and it goes well. Ambiance, it's spacious and roomy. We had a newborn the 3rd time coming here and there was no issues. Service was good and attentive. Just went there for lunch today and my partner and I stood and no one came out to seat us so we left. A look back in the kitchen and the women were there laughing and having a good time. The ambiance is so awesome! Definitely thai vibes and the decor is a sight to see. We walked in and was seated immediately. Our service was super nice and refilled our water multiple times. We came around 8pm and there was still a good amount of people enjoying their dinner. We ordered a small tofu and veggie tom yum lemongrass soup and Pad See Iew w/ beef. Appetizer, we got crab and avocado eggrolls. The eggrolls were crispy and freshly fried - sauce was sweet but good! The crab was blue crab meat. All items were fresh. My daughter and I were out on the town and decided to try this place. Everyone was super nice, atmosphere was quiet. Been coming here for years, and no matter when I come in the food is amazing, always consistent, large portions, and full of flavor. This is the best Thai restaurant in all of DFW, hands down. Great service and very authentic food. There's a large variety of curry dishes on their menu, and noodle dishes, and even vegetarian options for those who wish. We have been here a few times. Always consistent quality of food and good service. Drinks: My favorite is the Lychee Martini. It comes with a real lychee at the bottom of the glass which is super cool. My husband has tried their wine and old fashioned. Pretty good too! Dishes: I've never been disappointed by their Pad Kee Mao. I think getting it with beef or pork are better choices than shrimp, although it depends on personal preference. Paradise seafood had a good variety of seafood including squid, scallops, shrimp. It's got a nice coco nutty flavor with the red curry sauce, as long as some small chunks of pineapple. Tip: If you enjoy spicy, ask for Thai Spicy. I got regular spicy and it barely tasted spicy to me. Of course you can always ask for their chili sauce which come in a trio containing: chili powder, marinated sliced jelepeno, and garlic chili sauce. Summary: Overall 10/10. Good for a slightly upscale dinner with friends and family. There were people there for business as well. Definitely a cool ambience to entertain with their authentic Thai decorations. read more

A solid, if very predictable and slightly heavy handed approach to traditional Thai fare set in an appropriately decorated (for Westerners) environ with a wait staff fluent in Thai and Thai cuisine. Admittedly, we eat a lot of Thai food. Whether it's the latest Thai fusion offering from an Austin food truck or the latest high end formal Thai restaurant in the upper West Side of NYC, we tend to be adventurous. Unfortunately, American tastes are rarely refined enough to really enjoy nuanced or subtle approaches to Thai (and other Asian) cuisine. I am far removed from being a gourmand of any relevant degree, but I do wish Samui's dishes, especially the entrees, were less stew or soup and more engaging. Still, I've had far, far worse Thai food (yes, London, I'm looking at you) and if you're craving some tasty pad Thai or a dependable Thai curry when you're in the Big D, you could do far worse than Samui. read more

Here for a team dinner & they were incredibly accommodating & delicious We had a ton of appetizers from the spicy edamame to lettuce wraps to spring rolls & all were deemed super yummy My go to is always the Pad Thai & I was elated to find out they would make it totally vegetarian which meant NO fish sauce. Can't tell you how many restaurants in San Francisco refuse to make it without so this was an extra special treat. Tons of noodles - portions are huge - and wonderfully crunchy broccoli & cabbage & the sauce was tangy & savory Other dishes in our large crowd ranged from coconut curry to mango fish to beef, chicken & everything else in between. A great place for a nice ambient Thai dinner! The restaurant is very cute with romantic lighting inside. It wasn't too loud or too quiet either! Our waitresses were very efficient (we had a huge group) with bringing out our appetizers, drinks, & anything else needed. We had the sampler platter and it was delicious! The sauces paired with each dish really helped make the sampler stand out and worth ordering. I ordered the Paradise Seafood curry and omg, it was amazing! I am obsessed - it was a rich and creamy curry with an abundance of a variety of seafood, enough to have some in every bite. I had a ton leftover to have a second meal the next day and it was just as delicious. We had the tempura ice cream for dessert and it was a very exciting presentation, but the fire charred some parts of the tempura and it was very smoky/burnt tasting in those parts. We were seated immediately and there was no wait. Our waitress was SO sweet and attentive!! The ambiance was super cute and inviting and the chair/couch in our booth was SO COZY!! To start we got the crab and avocado rolls and the chicken lettuce cups. Both of these appetizers were absolutely DELICIOUS!! Everything was so fresh and flavorful!! The dipping sauce with the crab and avocado rolls was SO GOOD!! It complemented the rolls perfectly. For our entrees, my boyfriend got the yellow curry (spice level 3), and I got the Moo Fye - which is grilled pork loin marinated in Thai herbs with rice, cilantro lime sauce, and spicy chili sauce. I opted for the fried rice instead of the sticky rice and it was phenomenal!! Additionally, the portion was HUGE. I was expecting one small piece of pork and they brought FOUR!! I got takeout from this restaurant. The food was made super quickly which was great. I ordered Tom Kha and Tom Yum. I loved the Tom Yum but the Tom Kha was a little iffy but my husband still enjoyed it. The inside of the restaurant is stunning. People in the Plano area seem to love it. Very generous portion, lots of uniqueness to it throughout the dish, and unlike California Thai Food you could not taste the sugar. We then went on to the basil tilapia which was probably the nicest fish we have had in thai style. Tasted fresh, veggies added depth a like deep fry finish added character. My family and I ordered the tofu satay, red curry, and drunken noodles. The tofu satay wasn't very flavorful, as the tofu had no flavor other than being greasy and the sauce tasted strongly of peanuts and nothing else. It was completely missing salt and spice, or really any other flavor other than peanut. The drunken noodles and curry were good, although the amount of rice that comes with the curry is disproportionately small. My biggest complaint is the fact that they added an automatic gratuity of 20% to our bill as a party of 4- this is the first time I've ever had an automatic gratuity added to a party of 4, not even 6 or 8 as a typical restaurant would do! Not to mention the restaurant was very empty when we dined, so it was not as if they were going out of their way to serve us. This was not even a small charge for employees health and wellness or the like- it was literally just a "gratuity" charge of 20% which is frankly ridiculous. And on top of that, the bill listed additional recommendations to tip from 15-25% which is hilarious given they'd already taken 20% for no reason. This had been our favorite Thai restaurant in Plano, but after getting back our bill we decided that meal would be our last at Samui. Will not be returning and would not recommend unless you want to pay an extra 20% for no reason. read more

Popped in the delightful restaurant for a quick lunch because I needed sustenance that came in soup form. Tis the season. The outside of the building is simple and classy and I absolutely loved the decor (inside and outside). After being seated promptly, there was about a 10 minute wait before we ordered our drinks which we had already scoured the menu and was ready to order food. The menu was simple for lunch which I appreciated and everything was detailed thoroughly which made ordering easy. I had the beef noodle soup and my friend had the coconut shrimp soup. Everything came out with our drinks but we had to wait a few more minutes for utensils. Besides the minor setbacks, both of the soups were delightful and I absolutely loved the pickled peppers that were table side. Definitely try them on EVERYTHING...it elevated the soup fantastically. All in all it was about 45 minutes for a quick lunch which wasn't too bad. Will definitely return to sample other items with those pickled peppers. read more
