Solid new pho place! So amazing that there's now a pho place right in Lafayette. I go to TJ's more often than I should and I love a good bowl of pho, so Pho Benny is perfect for that! Only downside is that a bowl of pho runs close to $15. Thank goodness TJ's and Pho Benny doesn't share a parking lot, otherwise, I'd be in a bit of trouble. The fam and I ordered some pho, Thai iced tea, and Vietnamese iced coffee from Pho Benny. It all tasted good, and since we ordered during the early stages of their opening, there were some mishaps. The major one was when we were trying to pay, that took a while and our food was just sitting there. The raw steak pho we ordered didn't cook well after pouring the soup over it because it wasn't warm enough. That was the major downside of our experience. Otherwise, we got the following - Special Combo Pho- I love me some special combo pho with a great variety of beefs, tendons, tripe, etc. it only had a couple small tendon pieces, but it's pretty standard for these types of pho not to have much tendon pieces in there. The noodles tasted really fresh and the bowl with it all was generally pretty good. The broth wasn't really warm as mentioned above, so sriracha helped to give another dimension of heat. Eye Round Steak Pho- the husband doesn't like the fatty meats and various textures so he usually gets the steak pho. The flavors were good, but he wasn't able to fully enjoy it because of the slowness of service to get the food and such. Chicken Pho- the daughter really liked this. She wanted it again shortly afterwards. Amazing compliment. Thai Tea- the Thai tea we received didn't come with the cream inside. Not sure if that was intended, but it still tasted great without the milk/cream. Vietnamese iced coffee- thick, caught us a bit off guard, but it was delicious. Yum. The packaging was nice, neatly packaged and easy to assemble. Standard bean sprouts, basil, etc came in a bag on the side. Sauce packets, etc. Would come back to try a bit more. read more

Both the chicken and beef pho here are incredibly flavorful and can add some life and comfort back to you when needed and their banh mi are delicious and don't disappoint in terms of taste and quality. First time here with my mom on Tuesday 10/26/2021. I had been craving Vietnamese food, specifically rice paper rolls, for a few weeks prior. I had the shrimp rice paper rolls and seafood pho. The rolls were fresh and came with a yummy peanut sauce. Cravings satisfied! I took the pho home and it made two night's worth of leftovers. Mom had a combination stir fry, which I think she liked. Service was friendly. Only reason I'm giving a 4 instead of a 5 star review is that the restaurant is noisy. We were right in the middle of the restaurant where the "foot traffic" was so maybe other parts might have been quieter. Fortunately, the food more than made up for the noise. Would I come back? Spacious vietnamese restaurant serving all of the staples like noodles, rice plates, sandwiches, and soup. Staff was very attentive and great about taking my order and bringing the check without delay but not rushing me, refilling water, etc. Impressive pho. The broth was fragrant and flavorful while the meat was tender and juicy. You can pick your own combinations of meat (e.g. tripe, flank steak, round, meatballs, etc.) for a single price. The flank+round was great. Noodles were pretty standard, never had exceptional ones. Fresh spring rolls were good but not exceptional. They were a little less tidy than I like them with the noodles sort of stray in the wrap. Big shrimp and large serving size justifies the price- you get 4 rolls per order at about 10 bucks which is a good deal for bay area vietnamese restaurants. The peanut dipping sauce was a little weird - they brought it out STEAMING HOT. Never seen it hot before and don't known why that would be the case unless they're microwaving some frozen sauce or heaving it over the stove, but I've never had to use heat to make my own. I have eaten here many times. It has become one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. The food is always fresh, flavors are delicious and preparation is always consistent. The staff is all about taking care of each costumer. They actually recommended how I could order a dish I love in a way that would make it the best I've ever had. It meant more work for the cook but that was never a thought or issue. They really care about your happiness with the meal you order. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. I was CRAVING a good vermicelli bowl and decided to give Pho Benny a try after finding it on Uber Eats. We're relatively new to the area, and I haven't been super impressed by other local restaurants so I've been ordering from different places in search of my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered 2 of the Shrimp Pork and Eggroll vermicelli and a side of extra egg rolls - it was DELICIOUS. My husband said it was the best he had ever had. The egg rolls were still super hot and crispy by the time it arrived and i demolished the entire thing in one sitting. We have yet to visit the restaurant in person, but based on the food alone I would definitely recommend.. and might actually have to go in for dinner tonight read more

Limited range of vegetarian options available throughout the menu however. Appreciate the use of reusable utensils (particularly the chopsticks and water carafe). Came here after an evening out with a party of 7 including little kids. Seated right away around 7pm. The kids got juice boxes and adults served with water. I had the chicken pho and thought it would be a pretty large bowl due to price. Portions were actually not that big. Pricy for what it was. Chicken noodle pho was pretty good, but chicken pieces were a little dry (chicken breast meat). I appreciate that the chicken didn't have any skin or random fat/gristle. Soup was tasty and I didn't go home dying of thirst like some other pho restaurants. That was a plus. My husband got there Combo (#1) and he said there were only a few pieces of meat, much less than expected and for the price. I guess this is the only pho place in town so it's fine. read more

When Pho Benny took over a typical burger joint in town, we were ecstatic. We didn't have a Vietnamese spot in this stuffy town and boy was it needed. An example of how customer service brings you back to a place to feel the good vibes. I really do treasure my time eating here.
