    Menu: June 2022 (2/5)

Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - A1) Spring roll is simple with just noodles, lettuce, grilled pork, and shrimp. No mint or any spices associated with it. The shrimp was quite chewy. The peanut sauce was warm and tasted different from what we're used to as it's a bit sweeter P1) Combination pho (large) with rare steak, brisket, meatball, tendon, and tripe. Not enough tripe compared to the other protein. HUGE bowl P7) Kid pho with brisket had a healthy serving of noodles but very little broth. The brisket was very dry but the broth was good Ambience: 2/5 - the restaurant was dimly lit. It has a slight smell of disinfectant when you walk in. However, he started cleaning (7:50 PM with 9 closing time) while we're eating so all we could smell was bleach after a few bites :(( Service: 5/5 - really strong accent so difficult to understand but he memorized the order without taking notes Value for price: 3/5 - would recommend getting food to go so you don't have to deal with the smell. Food was okay, nothing spectacular but hits the spot

This place is convenient at best. We order the Combination Pho and the Combination Rice Plate. The Pho was decent but something was missing. Also there were no beef balls, not sure if we ordered the wrong thing but typically Pho Dac Biet has all the different cuts along with tripe and beef balls and ours didn't have it. The combination plate was what i was expecting from this place. It satisfied that craving but the items all seemed to have the same sweet sauce all over it. The grill flavors were also missing. The server and possibly owner was very nice and pleasant. He did splash some water on me while he was cleaning the table next to us while we ate. I would maybe have waited for us to leave first before cleaning but won't really hold it against him. I would only comeback if I needed to satisfy a Viet craving but the search will continue for pho in Denver.

    Our whole meal

Plate Combination: 9/10 Spring rolls: 9/10 Egg rolls 10/10 Noddles with beef: 10/10 It's a small business with a lot of potential but you have to dine in to ensure you can get a proper taste of the food. I highly recommend the egg roles as those are go tos. The food is amazing and so is the service, despite the language barrier they ensure that we were served in a timely manner and double checked if we needed anything else. Again, the food has flavor and the portions are fair.

Was craving pho and decided to go to this place because it was the closest pho place in the Northfield area. Overall no complaints as the pho did help with the craving but it also did not exceed my expectations either.

This place is close to work so I love how convenient this place is. Experience is mix, but I never had a horrible experience. The Pho is pretty consistent so I always know what to expect. I think their fried eggrolls are their best appetizer so I recommend getting that. I also recommend the Pho over their rice dishes because the rice plates are inconsistent. I have had both good and not so good rice plates here. One thing I don't recommend is their Boba drinks. The one I did receive was very flavorless and it tasted like I was drinking an icey, leftover, fruit juice. Everytime I ate here they were never busy so it is hard to rate their service. I will say that for the most part I have had good service with rare occasions that they got my order wrong. The last time I did eat here I smelled cigarettes while I ate. I couldn't tell whether someone came in smelling like it or the restaurant itself smelled like stale cigarettes. The restaurant itself is located in a strip mall, next to a barbershop and a clothing store. It may seem like a dirty place from the outside but its not bad.

    Combination PHO

I have been eating here last six years and half but pho is always good even after owner change like 3years ago. I will keep going there as long as I can eat delicious Pho.

Hubs order of Grilled Beef Rice Plate, Pho 999 - November 11th 2014
    Riza H. C.

Since the change of name and I was a little under the weather, I ask Hubs to order our Dinner from here.. This recent visit was on Tuesday November 11th 2014. Pho 999 offer the norm of Appetizers, Pho, Com (Rice Plates), Bun (Rice Noodle Bowls), Beverages, and Sinh To (Smoothies) to name a few. We ordered our food as TO GO ORDER : * Crab Cheese Wontons ($4.50) * Medium Bowl Shrimp Pho aka Pho Tom ($7.45) * Grilled Beef Plate aka Com Bo Nuong Cha Gio ($8.50) The Shrimp Pho, the Beef Broth was ok, nothing fancy, nothing stellar - they can do better. There are 6 shrimp, some Bean Sprouts, 3 slices of Green Jalapeno, 2 stalks of Basil, slices of raw white onions, some "sprinkle" of green onions aka chopped scallions. As for the Grilled Beef Plate its doable, ok.. We DO NOT consume the Egg Roll since it contains PORK - we threw it away... Overall all the food we ordered are JUST OK. Take note, ADDITONAL ($0.25) is charged for each item for TAKE OUT. Each EXTRA Topping is ($1.95). Even though we are offered 20% Discount, since we ordered after 17:00hrs ish, nothing special to entice us to return. PHO 999, is OPEN DAILY from 10am to 9pm. Beef pho with all the meat parts.

3 and a half. Easy and quick to get to if you work in Northfield. Restaurant is clean, service is quick if a little rote. Meat portions are good. I wish the bowls were pre-heated or the broth was a little hotter. The broth is relatively tasty, though it's not going to surprise anyone - basic pho broth profile. I wish they had fish sauce on the tables instead of soy sauce. The chili-garlic sauce tastes a little stronger at this place than others.

    Com thit nuong
    Loan N.

This may be a hole in the wall-mom and pop shop and the presentation may not be the prettiest, but their food reminds me of my mom's home cook Vietnamese food, which I miss very much. I usually order the bun (vermicelli) thit nuong or the com thit nuong (rice and grilled pork). You can't go wrong with those dishes. The owners are very kind and personal. They mix the fish sauce for you at your table and take their time to talk to each of their customers. I will definitely return and don't mind the 10min drive from the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Dan Da is one of the few places that's gotten me to branch out, and I'm glad I did. The Bún Chả Hà Nội was probably my favorite. Putting everything together yourself made every bite a little different, and the pork was so flavorful. I also really enjoyed the coconut curry claypot with shrimp. It was rich and comforting without feeling too heavy. The shaken beef was cooked well, and the shrimp and crab mini rolls disappeared pretty quickly. The food, portions, flavors, and overall experience are absolutely outstanding. First - you cannot leave without trying the homemade ginger ale. The pho is consistently delicious - packed with incredible flavor. The sesame chicken is another standout, but honestly, the curries are where this place really shines. My friend said the lamb curry was one of the best things he has ever eaten, and I completely understand why. The curries come out piping hot and overflowing- literally. The atmosphere is just as special as the food. The inside has such a great vibe - cozy, welcoming, and full of character. Sizzling Steak & Eggs $18.99 - We did ask for more bread to soak up the proteins on this dish. I'm not sure what happened because the bread took ridiculously long, and the restaurant had cleared up quite a bit by then. Most of our orders came out rather quickly, so it was weird with the long wait for the extra bread. I honestly think they forgot, and when someone finally remembered, it was put into the toaster to heat up then because it did arrive very hot versus the initial order. We had to get up and ask about it and two different waiters said it was coming out. Their house made chili oil definitely had a kick to it! Use it sparingly if it's your first go at it. We were curious about their Bun Bo Hue because there are so many options. The waiter did tell us it's their most popular dish and the pictures looked amazing. Overall, we had a good experience at O Lien Kitchen. The long wait for the bread did put a downer on the visit as it dragged on and the steak and eggs got cold as we waited. I initially wanted dessert but changed my mind since we were waiting so long. 3.5 stars
