    Spicy beef noodle soup
    Richie C.

This family owned Vietnamese restaurant is a real gem. We loved the spicy combination fried rice, spicy beef noodle soup, and the combination noodles with veggies. She shared the bone used to make the beef pho, demonstrating its authenticity. The owner is so nice, and happy to answer any questions.

This is my favorite venue for beef pho soup, fried tofu, and salt and pepper shrimp. I have tried to get the same tastes and textures at other pho venues, but they just don't satisfy my taste buds the same. I have never been able to find the fried tofu as crispy and addictive!!! The onions and jalapeño peppers with the fried shrimp and fried tofu are also so smokey and cravable !!!

New owner, new deco, fresh and new menu with a variety fo traditional authentic vietnamese dishes. I dined there with a bunch of friends, we all loved our food as well as the atmosphese and the owner's warm welcome. Thanks Pho 89 (now and will be Pho Thai Binh in the near future) for giving us another choice for "where to go for eating out" and for being there when the mood for authentic Vietnamese food kicks in. We'll definitely come back for more.

This was my fault for not thoroughly checking the reviews ahead of time.. It was 4pm and I haven't eaten and day and so I decided to stop here. As a Vietnamese native, please take my word for this. This place is NOT authentic. I should have known when I walked in and none of the employees were Vietnamese. Smh. I got the summer rolls and pork rice plate. Both were.... meh. The summer roll was rolled loosely and didn't have any pork (as listed on their menu). It wasn't awful. I enjoyed this over my main dish. 5.5/10 The rice is not broken (as listed on their menu), pork chop was dry and broccoli....? Not typical of Vietnamese rice plates. The broccoli was good though lol. What threw me off is there was no fish sauce. I asked for some and whatever they gave me was not the kind you eat rice plates with. I was hungry so I ate it anyway. 4/10 If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food, DO NOT go here. If you have sensitive taste buds or need bland food, then give it a try. The staff was friendly and sorta attentive. 7/10 Parking out front. 8/10 Overall cleanliness. 7/10

I wanted to try a new Pho spot and ventured to Laurel to try Pho 89. First off, they serve Vietnamese and Chinese food and I believe it's run by the latter so I was a little concerned about the authenticity of the Pho. I ordered beef pho (chin and nam) which I had to repeat several times because the waitress didn't know what chin and nam was. Apparently you are supposed to order by letter and number and that option wasn't there. The Pho was just ok. The broth wasn't as flavorful as my usual spot and some of the meat was over cooked. The basil leaves were also not very fresh as they had a lot of black spots on them. I had to look very closely to find a few edible leaves. I also ordered fried chicken dumplings, which were absolutely delicious. I would come back just for the dumplings. I ordered a mango smoothie without bubbles but it was too milky for my taste so I left it untouched. The service was great, given that my friend and I were the only patrons around 7:00pm on a Saturday, which I found to be rather telling. Overall, a star for service and two stars for the dumplings, the pho not so much.

Fresh bubble tea options here and for a decent price. I got mango and it was made from some kind of chunked purée that was blended instead of just a syrup or sauce, so that was a nice touch to me. The restaurant itself is small but quaint. Easy to find location.

Customer service was good, food was not authentic at all. This is not a pho place, the broth is not authentic. When I checked in, they were out of alot of variety of meats, so I just ask them to bring out what they got. Having eat alot of pho, I can say this is probably next to the worse attempt.

Once upon a time... ...there was the cutest little pho shop with the nicest staff around. A Queen and King enjoyed it so much they brought the Princess and the Princess loved it. This was becoming the regular soup stop for the royal family as the pho broth was superior to many of its rivals in the Kingdom of Mary's Land. Then one night during a visit, the Queen went off to the restroom and the King saw mice playing cricket in the back. Mice you say? Yes, plural, real life fur balls. The End.

I placed the order online and it was ready pretty much when I got there, which was within the pick up timeframe listed. I appreciated that they had an online ordering option, even if it was through Grubhub. The inside is rather small. I think there are two, maybe three very small plastic tables. However, it definitely seems like a spot where the same folks go regularly. Everyone inside seem to know each other, and they were all engaging in a nice conversation. The food itself was fine. I think it's about the same as any other carryout. The wonton soup I had was very basic and not my favorite. But they did include the crispy noodles for free. Also worth noting, their lunch special price of eight dollars or $8.50 was legit. And for the price, the portion was great. I definitely want to stop by in the future and maybe try something else.

I ordered the Rib Tips and Pork Fried Rice for pickup. Honestly, I was hesitant because Yum's has really gone down in quality over the last few years, but I was hungry and just wanted to grab something fast. I wouldn't say I completely regret getting it, but it definitely wasn't worth the extra calories. Let's start with the Pork Fried Rice. The one thing I'll give them credit for is that it wasn't greasy. But the lack of flavor completely messed it up. It was so bland that I actually had to bring it home, re-cook it in a pan, and add some garlic butter just to give it some life. The Spare Rib Tips were another miss. They gave me a really good amount of food, which I appreciated since I was hungry, but the meat was very chewy. It almost tasted like the tips were a bit old. I ate it because I was hungry, but this place consistently fails to meet the standards they used to have. Unfortunately, this is no longer a good takeout spot, and I definitely won't be going back.

I called back and they directed me to Menufy to cancel since it was an online order. The people at Menufy were great, but when they called the restaurant they said that the food was delivered, refused to refund the order, and apparently swore at the customer service rep from Menufy. I don't know what to say because the food was never delivered, we have a Ring camera and can prove that. Hopefully we get our money back. Well, we apparently won't get our money back. The store is refusing to allow Menufy to issue a refund. Our crappy review stands and we're out $61. Hope it was worth it, Yum's!

We have been familiar with the area for years, as my father-in-law lived 3 minutes away, and recently we realized this was his go-to carryout. After 3 visits, I can say it's one of the best in the DMV, thanks to its flavor and food choices. You will find Japanese options like sushi, American-Chinese dishes like orange chicken, similar dishes, and Cantonese food like roast duck, Hong Kong-style noodle soups, and whole fish. They are family-owned and operated. Every time we come, the elder father is always gracious and provides excellent service. The restaurant is always quiet; you can hear conversations in the back, and as customers arrive to pick up their orders, we haven't witnessed any negative interactions. Customers are always happy with their food, and the staff say thank you. The only negative is the space. The building itself is older and outdated. In the summer, it is hot, and now in the winter, there is no heat. They have found ways to make it work, like space heaters on each table, but it can still get uncomfortable if you are dining in. The back area near the bathroom and the bathroom itself need a thorough cleaning. To me, it's a turnoff; it doesn't affect the food, but it does affect the dine-in experience. Again, overall, I love their food and believe it's a local gem worth a try.
