Had lunch the other day with a friend and decided to try pho 88 out. I started with a Thai iced tea, my favorite drink to get. We then ordered an appetizer of wings, which had the perfect amount of garlic and fish sauce. I could have made a meal just out of that! For my main dish I ordered the chicken curry. On the menu it had a chili pepper next to it saying it was a spicy dish so I ordered it. I have to say it was very flavorful, but there was little spice to the dish. I have noticed this at other restaurants as well. Overall, good flavor and service was excellent.

Review: Pho 88 - Old Mill District, Bend Lunch with a friend at Pho 88, a Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Bend's Old Mill neighborhood. The space is clean and bright, with a casual but polished feel. Service was a clear strength. Staff were professional and polite, with quick seating, prompt ordering, fast food delivery, and multiple check-ins to make sure everything was going well. It all felt efficient without feeling rushed. The menu covers familiar Vietnamese ground: pho and other noodle soups, bánh mì sandwiches, and standard Vietnamese plates. Nothing overly experimental, but a solid, approachable selection. I ordered bún bò Huế. This was a good rendition of the dish. Not especially memorable, but certainly enjoyable and something I would eat again. The broth had the right level of spice for me, with a noticeable but balanced kick. The main downside was the meat, which was a bit dry and almost chalky in texture. At $23, it sits firmly on the high end for a Vietnamese noodle dish. That said, a friend picked up the tab this time. Thanks, Russ. Whether I return is a bit of a toss-up. I love Vietnamese food, and Bend does not have a deep selection of Vietnamese restaurants. Pho 88 does many things right, but the pricing makes it harder to justify for a bowl of Vietnamese soup, even a well-executed one.

Newish Vietnamese restaurant in the Old Mill shopping district occupying the space formerly hosting the Mill Works Pub and the Boxwood Kitchen before that. - Vegetarian pho: big serving, flavorful broth, nice ingredients. I find veggie pho sometimes lacking in flavor due to the weaker broth but this is a nice version. - Tofu vermicelli noodle bowl: Not a huge serving as with the pho but big enough to need a to-go box. Very tasty. I added hot chili oil to kick it up a notch but it was good even before that. The space is much as it was with Mill Works Pub, which I found to be well arranged. There's a wall of comfortable booths, a few other tables and a banquet facing the bar, which has stools. Mobility challenged folks will find a seat. Full selection of adult beverages including specialty cocktails. Didn't try any of those. Rather went with one of the big bottles of Tsingtao beer. One of our group wanted a decaf tea but there was none on the menu. Service was top tier. Not loud at all. Noisy restaurants are an instant no-go for me. Prices are reasonable. Everything is expensive these days so you either pay the going prices or watch your favorite restaurant fail.

Get the Pho Special Combo. This place has by far exceeded my expectations. It's hard when you come from places that have been setting the standard for Vietnamese food. It's been hard to find anything comparable. However, this is very close. The Pho Special had a good balance of noodles to meat ratio. The broth is flavorful and the side of fresh crisp veggies are a great addition to the dish. You can add as little or as much as you want to it. It's very good. I also had the stir-fry beef vermicelli. The meat is nice and tender with a good sweet soy umami flavor. They serve it with a side of fish sauce too. If you're not familiar with the taste I would suggest tasting it lightly first before dumping it into the dish. It may ruin your experience if you haven't had that flavor before. I love fish sauce so it actually adds another depth to noodles. Try it, you might like it. The customer service is top notched, they are pet friendly with outdoor seating and they can provide you with water and pup food by request. The view is amazing while enjoying your meal and they give you a very good amount of food. I could barely finish all my food but was very happy to take some home for later. The quality is exceptional but the spot on dishes, won my heart over and over again. Well done. You are "the exception" ~he's just not into you

Kudos to the team at Pho 88 for bringing authentic Vietnamese cuisine to the Old Mill District. I stopped by for lunch to check it out. They're currently doing a soft opening so don't expect them to have everything you want. The menu is extensive menu and includes Bun Bo Hue and Banh Xeo. Unfortunately for me, neither were available because they were both sold out from the night before. The owner tells me she is just as surprised as I was that so many people are asking for Banh Xeo. I defaulted to the classic bowl of pho. It's the dish I order to gauge whether or not I'll be back. The verdict? I'll definitely be back. The pho was solid. The broth was good and came with a hearty helping of noodles and meats. Of course it comes with all the veggie fixin's. They even have a home made chili oil at the table which I couldn't help but try. Pho 88 is a definite recommend whether you want to stop by for a quick meal or enjoy a nice evening with friends. My son recommended this restaurant and he was spot on! Excellent pho and superb options for rice dishes. Everything was authentic. The service was friendly and attentive. We ate outside and they even served our dogs water. We will definitely be back!

This place is awesome!It recently opened in Bend Oregon, and is super good.Located in the Old Mill plaza, it is a hidden gem!The owner and server made small talk as if we were old friends, which was very inviting!The food is super yummy with a herbal broth that soothed your stomach and was also very comforting!Inside is mainly quiet and peaceful which I appreciated after a long day.I am not gatekeeping any of this for the sake of this new restaurant which I hope does well.This place is great and I hope to come again!

I travel for a living and am always on the hunt for great Pho - especially on cold days. Finally found a great place! Nice and comfortable environment, perfect service, plump and juicy shrimp salad rolls, and deep beef broth pho. Oh and the Vietnamese iced coffee was to die for! Soft opening this past weekend so they are still working out some kinks, I guess. That said, I think our experience was definitely positive. Service was friendly, and when I got a red wine instead of the white that I (think I) ordered, it was promptly replaced. I had the Bahn Mi sandwich with lemongrass grilled chicken. That was very good, a tiny bit on the dry side but tasty. My husband had the "classic combination" which consisted of a skewer of grilled shrimp, some pork which was deliciously marinated, fried roll, rice, and pickled veggies. It looked great and tasted good too! We tried a bit of her homemade chili sauce....well, that sets your mouth on fire! The inside of the restaurant is cute with all the paper lanterns, some booths and some tables. Plenty of seating. And nearby free parking.

The food is really great, and the service was top notch. I really enjoyed the Vietnamese wings, and the vermicelli, but I will say that I enjoy my local spot more (Not Pho 88's fault, and plenty of room for more great Vietnamese food!) Ambience is kind of dark and doesn't fully remind me of Vietnamese food or the country...but I've never been, so who knows - maybe they nailed it.

We were visiting from an area in California that has plenty of very good Vietnamese restaurants and Pho 88 rates right up there with the best! Besides having good food, the service was excellent and server staff very friendly. My shrimp was plump and very fresh tasting and so was the pork. The dessert I had was not too sweet and very tasty. Definitely will go back before leaving town in a few days. read more

I thought the pho was amazing! I had the shrimp and chicken with ground pork, broccoli, celery, carrot, fried onion, garlic, and cabbage. It was delicious and made of very fresh ingredients. I had enough leftover for a large lunch the next day. My husband had the stir fried beef vermicelli and the beef was cooked to perfection. We also shared fried wontons which were very good as well! Owner stopped by our table and asked how things were. She was very open to feedback and explained that prices are higher because of the fresh ingredients (some people complained). I think it was sooo worth it and so did my husband (who prefers to cook at home). read more

I had the wonton soup since I wanted to try something other than the standard chicken or beef pho. It was good, but it came with very little protein, which I wished I'd known after working all day outdoors. I think the carrots were three slices. I arrived 15 minutes before closing and asked if that was okay since I didn't want to interfere with their working hours. Water came immediately, and my order was taken at 8 p.m. They started cleaning the kitchen while I was eating. Since it's an open kitchen, all of the scents from their cleaning hit me at 8:35. I started coughing since this triggered my asthma. I rarely use my rescue inhaler and didn't have it with me since going to dinner didn't seem likely to trigger it. A waitress asked if I was okay, and when I said the cleaning materials were triggering my asthma, she said, "Sorry," and left. My server noticed shortly thereafter and I told him I had to leave, and I paid and left. I feel like this could have been handled better--not seating me, taking my order sooner, or warning me that they might clean up with some pretty strong chemicals while I was eating right by the kitchen. read more

I stopped by after some Black Friday shopping and honestly so glad I did. Everything I had was amazing! The garlic and fish oil chicken wings were a fan favorite at my table. Their wontons were perfectly crispy, I could've had a whole plate by myself! The pho was the best I've had in town! It had the most tender beef and was a huge portion that I even had to take some home. Their service was wonderful, we got seated fast and our food was out in no time. The restaurant even had adorable holiday decorations up which made it feel so festive! I don't do reviews often but I would highly recommend to stop by and try their food! It's especially comforting with the cold weather. read more

I tried this a few weeks after they opened. I got the typical pho dish, while my wife got a vermicelli dish (stir fried beef). The Pho, was "meh". The broth was a bit off and not that hot. My wife's stir fried beef was so over the top with fish sauce that it was inedible. The simplest thing should have been the egg rolls, but they were cold too. It's like they prepped things so far in advanced that they lost everything. The service was great, but great service on less than great food doesn't work. I'd like a reason to try it again! read more

We loved this place!! They actually have GF fried egg rolls and GF Vietnamese pancakes (pancakes only served on Wednesdays ). I can't remember the last time I was able to enjoy those and they were terrific. We also had the beef vegetable stir fry. It was a lot of food...enough to feed 2 people. The owner/ chef went out of her way to make sure I enjoyed my GF option. They will change out the kitchen for anyone celiac. The ambiance was great too. You have to visit this establishment. read more

We came in for dinner at their soft opening & everything was delicious. Their appetizers were delicious along with the main entree. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai and it was the best I've ever had. Amazing experience! The pho was amazing, great portion and flavor. Well priced as well! My partner ordered pho but wasn't a fan (it was her first time trying pho), our server Katrina noticed and took it off the bill and got her another entree working quickly! Best Pho in Bend. Normally that's not saying much, but this is legit Vietnamese. Refreshing, flavorful, and hefty portions. This is as good as anything in Portland. So happy that this place is tasty, authentic, and here in Bend. Salad rolls perfect. Vermicelli bowl had perfect balance and fresh. The salad was unique and will be on every order I make! read more

We went in the middle of the afternoon on Saturday and had a great couple of appetizers and a banh mi. All were delicious and the staff was super welcoming. Ok, first the most important thing: they have SO MANY gluten free options!!!! Not things you have to make substitutions for, but meals that are just gluten free! Not only that, but the food is genuinely delicious and cooked to perfection. The restaurant is beautifully and tastefully decorated, very calming, and the service was wonderful. Honestly I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant to open in the Old Mill. 10 out of 5 stars. read more

The dan dan noodles, lomo saltado, and curries were all great as well. As an extra icing on top - the drinks (especially the $3 nonalcoholic shrub and homemade sodas) were great as well. Wild. Past that they were talking about how they store their juices, and that they don't date label them in any way or throw them out after a certain amount of days, they just come in and taste them to see if they've gone bad. Get the f*** out of here.... A quick Google search will show you that most citrus juices start to oxidize within the hour, and orange and pineapple are not far behind... Don't even come here and give it a try, just go somewhere else.... This place should not be in business.

While I prefer fresh brewed tea, powdered milk tea has come a long way through the years, and this one isn't bad at all. In fact, there's a certain brand of powdered milk tea that I'd drink over a lot of boba shops. The drink comes with boba. It's a little on the firm side, so the bounce and chew are a bit lacking. The pearls are all different sizes and have a softer velvet-like layer on the exterior, indicating some kind of sugar soak. They aren't very sweet compared to the drink, though. Milk Tea Rating: 3.5/5 Boba Rating: 3.5/5 For being in a small city without much of a boba presence, Boba Tea Bend scratches the itch. It's certainly not stellar, but it does in a pinch.

It wasn't bad though it also didn't take us on trip to flavor town and party in mouth amazing.

This is a new Vietnamese restaurant in the Old Mill behind M's Bakery. We went to the soft opening and it was quite busy at lunchtime. The Pho was delicious. In fact one of the best I've had.
