Before heading home after our weekend in Reno I wanted pho. Pho 777 had some good reviews so I had my husband take us. It was busy when we arrived so I took it as a sign that the food was good... but I was wrong. Lots of people does not necessarily mean great tasting pho. It just meant lots of hungry people that were met with SUPER slow service at Pho 777. - Spring Rolls: was dry and not at all that tasty - Pho Ga: was kinda bland. I had to dress it up a lot with lemon juice, hoison & sriracha sauce and even then I was not a happy camper. - Tai Nam Sach: my sister said it was alright. She didn't finish so that should tell you something. - Pho Rau Tofu: Husband was not satisfied - Wonton Soup: the kids said it was good Next time we are in Reno we will try a different place for pho. Not a bad establishment. They have a great selection of items to choose from. I was actually a bit over whelmed by the options they had. But I locked my sights on one thing which was the garlic chicken. It was not bad and the quality of the food was good. I would go back again for more. There wasn't that many people in the establishment but that was probably because we where there around 2pm. Not really during rush hour. This place is located right on Virginia street. So parking is not very good. You will have to park in the back which can be a bit of a trek and for you ladies, well I would bring a friend with you. The staff is friendly and got to our order right away. They were actually just watching us and when we stopped looking at our menus they were quick to take our order. That is service and a great job on staff. Waiting for the food did not take long at all. Like I was saying we were not there during peak hours. This place gets plenty of foot traffic from Virginia Street and can become really busy. Especially, if there is an event going on. It's getting to be a habit, seating ourselves in this restaurant, but I guess I'm getting use to it. Pho 777 is located next to Harrah's which is why I come here more often than any other Vietnamese restaurant when I'm in Reno. You can say I choose convenience over quality...sometimes...rarely. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue today instead of a regular Pho item. I wanted to see just how spicy this soup was because I haven't had it in years. Well, six hours later, as I'm writing this review, I'm still feeling the effects. I advise anyone to stay away from #16 Bun Bo Hue unless you have a strong stomach, at least one that didn't have two Starbucks coffees beforehand, like I did...bad idea?...I guess you can say so! Still, I finished my Bun Bo Hue without hesitation. I also had my share of #22 Mi Xao Mem, a noodle dish with some chicken, shrimp, and beef. It wasn't bad at all. A good dish to share amongst table mates. The #4 Pho, as usual, was good. Pho 777 is conveniently located and very affordable, only $5.95 for a large Pho item. Servers were wonderful. Very friendly, and the place was immaculately clean. Ordered the spring rolls. Extremely fresh and crunchy. I like how they do not put siracha in the peanut sauce. Ordered my favorite bun thit nuoung. It is my go to for all Vietnamese restaurants. The vegetables were very fresh and the lettuce was crunchy in the bottom of the bowl. Serving size is huge. Pork had good flavor and was hot. Cold noodle proportion was double the veggies, which is normal, but with such a large size they should have had more vinegar/dressing. The reason why this is a 4 star is because the pork was fatty and we waited over 10 minutes for the check and ended up asking for it. read more

Everyone knows I am not the BIGGEST fan of pho, but if I'm giving it a 5, it is a MUST try. My boyfriend and I were at Reno for a weekend and we even went to this pho place TWICE. The only down I had was the wait. Anytime you go, there seems to be a long wait. We decided to not wait and sit at the counter which was a huge plus. Restaurant isn't too big, but has big and small tables for small and big crowds. We ordered the spring rolls and different kinds of beef pho. The spring rolls were AMAZING. Very different from the spring rolls were used to anywhere. It's filled with shredded pork and shrimp, but has a lot of vegetables inside as well (they definitely stuff their spring rolls). The pho broth was really good with flavor and the meat tasted fresh and pretty good quality. They have really good portions too. My stomach is super sensitive when I have poor quality pho, but their beef pho was probably one of the best I've ever tried. Their Vietnamese coffee was really good and not too strong, a perfect way to finish the meal there. Well definitely be coming back for more when we're in the area! read more

This pho joint was a cool find for me in downtown Reno, as it gave me an option from the casino's offerings and nothing brings me quite back to life, like a good, hot bowl of pho. And a goods night of partying in Nevada, I definitely need to be brought back to life the following day. The joint can get busy, so the service can get spotty and slow as the customers will greatly out-number the servers, but hey, I usually don't go into these joints expecting any exceptional service, it's just in the nature of these joints. But the food is actually quite good and rivals to most places out where I'm from (the Bay) where pho joints are as common as your local fast food places. The fresh spring rolls with shrimp and pork are plump and good, though I've had better peanut sauces. The pho, even though not the prettiest I've seen, is still pretty legit. Good texture on the noodles, fresh veggies as condiments and a surprisingly light yet quite flavorful broth, the kind of which I don't get sick of. It was just a little strange eating here for me, as when I eat at a pho place in the Bay Area it is mostly an Asian customer base, while here I was the only Asian person outside the workers. Not that I care, just a strange observation. Actually at 11 am, after I already had a 2 beer buzz from playing video poker and about 3 hours sleep, sticking ones head over a steaming hot bowl of pho makes one realize aren't we all just one common people? I had lunch here on Friday and at 1130 the place was already filling up. If we had waited till 12 I am sure we would have had trouble getting seated or served timely. I know I hear how this place is the best in town but I will admit that I didn't feel the same. I don't think they were bad at all. The food was good. Quite tasty and large portions. I just feel there are a couple of places I have been to that ware better. That certainly doesn't mean that I wouldn't come back here I just don't think that I would go out of my way to eat here. They are convenient to my office location so that is a huge plus for me and within walking distance. The table hasn't been wiped down yet when we were seated but the server was quick to take care of that as soon as we were seated. We sat right by the window so there was a multitude of entertainment via people watching while we ate our meal. In down town Reno that means there were some very interesting folks walking by. the staff was friendly and they were clearly quite popular. I wouldn't advise anyone to skip this place or not go. You will get a delicious meal while here. If you are in the down town area and in the mood for some Pho then check them out. read more

Kinda crowded for dinner on a Monday night but we were able to sit ourselves. Waited almost 10 mins to get our menus and drinks and almost 20 mins for our food. Pho was average but their fried rice with shrimp and pork was Ah-mazing:) my husband had theirs ribeye bbq steak which was well cooked and sub with white rice instead of fried rice. Even though our food came late, but everything tasted delicious and our young waiter got all our orders right. 3 thumbs up!!! There's not enough parking space in the front, but per staff there's a communal parking in the back and they do validate. Do not park in the alley or your car will get towed. Atmosphere - A little ran down but the place was busy but the volume was not too bad. They have a little diner counter, there is one spot you can sit at which has the register on the other side, just very stranger as some people are ordering take out and paying right there. Food Appetizer - none Main Course - I ordered a #7 which is Tai - rare steak & rice noodle soup. It was good the larger bowl for $6.50 was a lot for the value. Strange thing is that it was served in chicken broth; I do not think beef broth would be yellow even after adding chili sauce. Had some hot tea and it was very good. Dessert - Stuffed but not an issue since the staff was ignoring us after the food was dropped off at the table. Service - It is not clear if you seat yourself or not, so we seated ourselves. Promptly given menus, drinks were served up fast, and the order was taken in a very efficient manner. It all went downhill after that. I watched other tables get appetizers and their meals before we got meal. Okay my wife did order the steak but really it was thin and could not take that much time to prepare it. Like I said after it was delivered they never showed up again. I had to go the register to actually get my bill and pay. I felt a little under the weather and ordered the chicken pho with veggies. I wanted bland...and it was DEFINITELY bland. Normally, that wouldn't be a compliment but it was perfect for the time being. Everyone else's pho seemed to be enjoyed. They ordered the combination and also meatballs. Only issue was the Vietnamese coffee. The 2 people who had the coffee had the runs for 2 days! I heard both of them say that this coffee tasted different than what they're used to while we were there. Well, it ended up with diarrhea Cha Cha Cha. I first tried pho at the Vietpho in Shoppers Square and kept hearing about this place so I gave it a try. I've only eaten here twice and both times the service was very bad. I came back the second time thinking maybe they were having an off day but apparently not. Basically my experience went like this: After an afternoon of shooting candids downtown, I walked into a mostly empty restaurant. 3 people in the place, including the server, who upon seeing me... almost immediately walked in back and did not return for about 5 min. As I was starting to debate leaving, he came back out and hurried me to a table, handed me a menu and was gone again. Ok, maybe a bad day? I let it go, but after about another 5 min and no drink order, I was starting to get frustrated. Then something funny happened; a group of 5 people, obviously casino workers, happened into the place and holy crap, this guy came alive. He rushed out to seat them, making small talk, suggestions on the menu and taking -their- drink order. Not mine tho, I had to wave him over. Finally, after these folks got their drink order, he came over to get mine and my lunch order. No small talk or suggestions by the way. My food did come out fast, and around the time as the other table and the vermicelli was adequate but forgettable. Came here last night with a bunch of friends for dinner since it was super snowy & cold outside. Ordered the pho xe lua which pretty much was like the pho "special" where it has a little bit of every meat in it. The pho that they brought out was bland, I had to dress mine up with A LOT of hoisin sauce & sriracha; minus one star. However I must say the prices for a big bowl of pho was not that bad. Service was a bit slow & it took them a while to bring our food out so minus another one star. I do however also like the fact that when you order coconut juice, they bring you an actual coconut rather than coconut water in a can with 1000g of sugar so kudos to them. Arrived around 8:20 and my party of 10 was seated right away. They were busy so we didn't get our order taken for 10+ minutes, but we weren't in a rush so it was no problem. Our food came out in a timely manner and everything was delicious. -1 star for adding onion and cilantro even tho I asked for without, but they made up for it by being patient and being nice to the kids. We didn't finish until almost 9:30 but it was because of the wait and having to pick out the onions and cilantro lol they didn't rush us or anything so it was fine. Will def go here again read more

My family and I have been going to pho 777 for years we go for mostly every occasion or just for dinner. We go at least 4-6 times a month and have not been disappointed til these last couple of visits; once we went for lunch and there was a dog inside the restaurant and he was not a service dog. We always order the same thing and our servers know our orders but the cooks sometimes get it wrong. We've send plates back and it look like they just picked out what we didn't want and send it right back. By them doing this make us feel like they don't mind loosing long time customers. Jose, Obed and a couple of others should be recognized, they always give is the best customer service they can possibly offer and always make us feel welcome. A Hole in the wall that dishes out great food big portions and CHEAP! On average my entree is around 8 bucks and enough for lunch and dinner. Do not order Thai food such as pad Thai here they are a Vietnamese restaurant and they do Vietnamese perfectly. The soups are great on a cold winters night or when you are feeling under the weather with a cold or flu it brings a brighter feeling to your tummy. My favorite drink is the Coconut Water served from a freshly cut coconut and reasonably priced and a better alternative to sugary unhealthy drinks. I also enjoyed their Vietnamese Iced Coffee made fresh. Do not try the Thai ice tea it's instant and not fresh. Ambiance is a bit gritty and the wait staff are not so friendly, the owners and cashier are friendly to me and always asking if I was happy with my last meal and know me for purchasing several coconuts for my colleagues at work, who flock here now for both food and fresh coconut water.
