I have passed this place over a dozen times ans I recently decided to go in. I felt like this was a very authentic experience. I got beef pho, eggrolls and a banh mi. It was a delicious bowl of pho, the imperial rolls were perfection and I have never had a banh mi but i thought it was good. The second time I came in, I tried their duck pho, the broth was flavorful but i didnt like the duck and that might just be personal preference. I love their Ban-Mih sandwich! I have followed them from their original location the this one on Moana because this is HANDS DOWN the best in Nevada. I am sure their other food is great, I just cant get past their BBQ Pork Ban-Mih sandwich. I ordered the #3 Pho, potstickers, and a Thai iced tea. It came out to 30 bucks and it was expensive for the quality. I decided to try this spot because it was right next to somewhere else I was going. The Pho was ok. The tripe was not as tender as I have had elsewhere and neither was the flank steak. The broth was ok. Adding the chili sauce made it much better. I was most disappointed in the Thai iced tea with Boba. The tea itself was too sweet and the Boba balls were not separated from each other, so the straw was pretty pointless. Their service was good though. read more

I ordered pho with steak, flank, tendon, and tripe, 1 spring roll, and a BBQ pork bahn mi sandwich. I had traditional hot jasmine tea as my beverage of choice. The broth of the pho is what makes the soup as well as the fresh fixings and toppings that accompany it. The bean sprouts are a fav and give the soup that good crunch. Normally an order of spring rolls comes with 2 rolls. I like how Viet Pho gives the option of ordering just 1 roll. The rice paper was fresh and not dry or hard nor was the shrimp fishy, so that's a plus. The peanut sauce was plentiful and yummy and like how they top it with chopped peanuts for added crunch. My only complaint is the sauce was cold. I could have asked to have it warmed up but I didn't, so that's my fault. The BBQ pork bahn mi sandwich was sooo good! My favorite of course is the homemade fresh bread. Richard, the owner, spent time and lived in Italy when he was younger and learned to make bread. His bread is amazing and yummy. The pork was tender and the carrot and pickled onion give it it's nice crunch. The fresh jalapeno slices give it that heat to complete the sandwich. I chose to eat here for the convenience of being close to the airport. I had a flight to catch, so I'm grateful for the quick service and quiet ambiance. I ordered the Vietnamese pork sandwich bahn mi. It was good but a definitely different flavor than I am used to. I have had these sandwiches for years in many locations and they were pretty consistent with the taste and texture of the bread but this was not what I have eaten before. It taste good but not what I have tasted before. So expect it not to have a typical texture of bread and taste. The fried pork egg rolls were amazing just so full of flavor. The best part was the authentic Vietnamese drip coffee. When I tell you it was dripping right in front of me it's because it was. I love the taste so good. It is a strong coffee not for the weak. It is Saturday evening, and I decided to walk from Peppermill Casino to Viet Pho. The location is easy to find. It's on E. Moana Ln. The server is very friendly. Her name is Melissa. I ordered the beef pho, and I was really surprised by the flavors (no artificial flavoring ---all natural bone broth), the tenderness of the meat and the correct temperature. There is a place in Cupertino, which is considered as an upscale Pho place (expensive and limited choices there) and it cannot even come close to the flavors of Viet Pho. We love Vietnamese but we also can be a little picky when it comes to eating it because my wife's cultural heritage is Vietnamese. I ordered the steak and balls pho, and she ordered the banh mi and we shared some egg rolls. We shared. My pho was very good. Little bubbles of fat pooling on the top of the darker than expected broth. The veg was all fresh and a good amount was given for each dish. While I enjoyed my part of the banh mi I look forward to getting back and trying a basic version of the banh mi that has all of the real flavors I love about Banh Mi. read more

Well, this, "cheap food" cost me $30.00. I know, the drivers deserve to be paid (I once was a pizza delivery guy!). I wasn't really in the mood for Pho. But they did have beef and broccoli on the menu. I assume they know how to do a Wok hei. Alas. I received some braised/boiled beef and some steamed broccoli. I was very disappointed. If you read my recent reviews, you know that I'm on the "hunt" for my new favorite local Pho that lives up to my expectations...which are pretty high...and satisfies my taste profile. This is one of my favorite foods, having eaten it all across North America. I had done this same "hunt" a few years ago and found my favorite...and this spot wasn't it. Unfortunately, my long time favorite changed owners last year and the new owners changed the recipe...I don't like it as much, so I'm searching again. I had visited this place a few times previously and always enjoyed it, so I went back a couple of times in the last couple of weeks to check it out again. I like it! Situated in a strip mall, it's a small place with comfortable seating and a nice basic ambience...nothing fancy, just utilitarian. The service is always outstanding...they make you feel welcome without being overbearing or obtrusive, which is a pet peeve of mine. My "go-to" is always a Combination Pho...#2 on their extensive menu. (small: $13.47 large: $16.59) [SPECIAL RARE STEAK, FLANK, TENDON, TRIPE, MEAT BALL] I enjoy the different meats presented in a Combination, especially the Tendon and Tripe. When they're cooked correctly, they're delicious and add a great texture to the dish. I ordered a large in my 2 recent visits. Reasonable size... Very tasty broth...on the lighter side with lots of flavor. Nice amount of veggies and expertly cooked noodles. Reasonable amount of the standard proteins...steak and flank. The meatballs are 2 smaller slices, adding up to maybe a bit over 1/2 of a meatball, with great flavor. The usual sauces are all on the table: Hoisin, Chile Sauce, Sri Racha. They brought me Hot Chile Oil as I requested. Nice amount of the usual accoutrements that are expected with Pho: Jalapenos (I always ask for a few extra because that's how I like my Pho, which they were glad to bring), Bean Sprouts, Basil...Cilantro is included on the top of the bowl...on my 1st visit, they brought me a lime wedge, on my 2nd visit, they brought me a lemon wedge. I'm not as fond of lemon...adds a different flavor than the lime...obviously...but, we had just gotten past a huge snowstorm in the area that had closed the mountain passes to trucks for 4 days and their purveyor had no limes available for them. Perfectly understandable situation...I've run into this before and they had to make the best of the situation. BUT...as is the case with a lot of the places I've been to recently, consistency is an issue on my 2 visits...albeit minor. On my first recent visit...OMG...a TON of Tripe and Tendon...cooked perfectly. On my 2nd visit, lots of Tendon, but NO Tripe to be found. Inconsistencies baffle me, especially since the place wasn't busy during lunch both times I went. How does the kitchen not pay attention to what they're serving? I mentioned it to the wait staff when they asked me how it was after I finished...I was looking for it as I ate, but couldn't find any Tripe as I delved deeper into the bowl. Tough to see when you're at the beginning. They were apologetic and offered to check with the kitchen, but I said no, not necessary, as I was already done. They said they'd take it up with the kitchen to ensure that it wasn't a recurring problem. All in all, a satisfying experience...I will return even if this winds up not being my new favorite. We ordered the Viet Banh Mi which was big in size and full of fresh vegetables with its protein. My husband ordered the duck which he didn't care for but maybe he isn't a duck guy. I ordered vermicelli and it tasted like every other vermicelli I've had in town but was a bit on the smaller size. The food came out as it was ready which I'm never a fan of but some restaurants just do that. Sadly, came back again to try their wonton soup, we placed an order to eat here (due to lunch break being short). When we arrived, they handed us a bag with everything in boxes, even though we asked to eat here. The owner came to our table, we explained what was discussed over the phone, so his solution was to hand us bowls and have us make our own bowls, without silverware. Turns out, our order was wrong, wrong noodles, jalapeños added to dish even thougb we asked for no jalapeños. But the most sadly thing was, the owner instead of trying to be understanding, his approach was to raise his voice, and argue/disagreeing with my co-worker that she said otherwise. I've been a customer at Viet Pho for years now, and I am pretty discontent with how they served us today. It felt as if we were begging for some service and to have our food served. Continuing to discover restaurants near my office and Friday was a "I really need some hot soup" kinda day and Pho always hits the spot. I did a quick search on yelp and there were 2 options nearby with Viet Pho being the closest. Recent reviews looked promising and since I was kinda dragging the idea of being able to drive 30 seconds for pick up was very appealing. I called and placed my order. The woman I spoke with confirmed that I knew where they were located and told me 10 minutes til my order was ready. They are in a pretty busy strip mall on Moana and while there is plenty of parking there, it seems the spots are likely striped too small because almost every close spot someone was parked over the line (one guy was sideways) so it wasn't easy to find a spot that I felt my car would fit comfortably and be safe from door dings. It was well past the normal lunch hour and only one table inside was occupied. The interior is average strip mall restaurant ambiance. My food was ready and waiting. I'm assuming the lady that helped me was the same one that took my order. She asked if I had a loyalty card and I mentioned that it was my first time here. She told me they had the best Pho in Reno. I got my food back to the office and wasted no time digging in. Everything was nicely packaged and separated so nothing got soggy in the broth. I added all of the fixing and while I'm no expert when it comes to pho, this was a great one. Flavorful broth and still piping hot which was exactly what I needed. Stumbled here by accident. We were on our way to Sabor, only to find they did not open for lunch everyday and Viet Pho was the closest without playing the where should we go game. It was near, it was open, so we tried it. Not fancy .. no tablecloths or linen napkins. Quick service and the food was very good. We shared a Beef Bahn Mi ... everything was cooked well ... I would have liked a little more sauce of some kind .. the sandwich was a bit on the dry side. But the place was busy with take out orders and quite a few tables were taken inside. Biggest Bahn mi in Reno? Yes. Most expensive bahn mi? Yes. Best Bahn Mi? The door says so. I've seen friends says so. But I'm not sure. Bahn mi is a classic Vietnamese sandwich and a lot kf it's allure lies in the Viet style baguette, which is light and airy on the inside with a nice soft crust on the outside. The dough is often made with wheat and rice flour, which produces a lighter bread than the French style. Viet Pho's Bahn mi is made in a baguette I'd say is closer to the hot and ready baguettes you find in our local store. The outside resembles a baguette but it's chewy, and on the inside it's actually dense and chewy as well. Now I do enjoy this bread, but it's not what I expect for this sandwich. These sandwiches can be made with a variety of meats, and I opted for the bbq pork. Slices were large, tender and tasty, but not as richly marinaded or deeply charred as I enjoy at many other Vietnamese restaurants in town. In addition to the meat it includes cucumber, cilantro, pickled daikon and carrot, mayo and jalapeños on request. I enjoy my Bahn Mi with a lot of pickles and veg, and this was pretty light on both, and the mayo was missing. All in all it was a good but not great Bahn mi. I added sriracha and chili garlic sauce, as well as some duck liver (Sub for the pate often on these) and it came around. With most selling for $4-$5 in town, this one at $7-$12 just wasn't worth the premium. read more

We all ordered Pho Bo Dac Biet and were all confused about what we got. The bowl was nicely portioned, and it had all the attributes of a Pho Bo Dac Biet. It was not too big, too small or covered in pho noodles, but was nicely done. The broth tasted like nothing, and I mean nothing. I can tell it was some sort of bone broth, but not chicken. It tasted like the base of the beginning of a beef broth, meaning that it had absolutely no flavor at all. I don't know if this is their pho bo broth or if the cook got it out of the wrong pot, but it had absolutely no flavor and not even a hint of dried spices in the air. If the broth was a bit cloudier then I would be convinced that it was pork bones. If it was supposed to be pho bo broth, then it was completely unfinished and shame on them for serving it that way knowing it was not done. I am giving this place 2 stars since it was nicely portioned and a customer service was nice, but of course you expect them to be nice and attentive when you're the only customers in there. And I'm pretty sure that we were served pork tendons and not beef. On our way to Tahoe, stopped here for lunch. Upon walking in the door there was the undeniable aroma of pho intertwined with other Viet dishes. We ordered a large pho bo vien (meatball), mi xao gion hai san (crispy egg noodle with seafood and vegetables) and the com dac biet (special combo rice plate). All 3 dishes were delicious and authentic. Just as good as anything you'll find in SoCal. The owner was there to help out and checked in on us. Delicious banh mi sandwiches! We tried the BBQ pork and the tofu. Both sandwiches were super buttery, served on a nice baguette with delicious pickled and fresh veggies, including carrots, daikon, cucumber, jalepeño, and lettuce. The BBQ had a really nice char, but the tofu shined with how juicy and well-seasoned it was. Definitely worth a visit! And the owner is so nice! read more

"0" STARS!! My family and I walked in. We weren't greeted. They weren't even busy. Only 1 customer was paying . We went and just sat anywhere. It's possibly the owner who was an "older Asian lady" came and asked us for how many waters. She didn't even greet us. I said "8" since there were 8 of us. I had 2 small children (between 3 & 5 y/o). She immediately said "Well the kids will not finish it so it will just be a waste!" I then told her okay then "7." They brought us 7-8 cup of waters. 6 out 8 cups were only halfway filled. She asked if we'd like ice in all of them? We said yes but only 1-2 cups barely had ice. If you're serving anyone at a restaurant you don't put your personal opinion with that kind of statement! The waitress came after we ate our food asked if we need more water. It was already too pointless to do that. When the same older lady and waitress brought our foods out, that lady says "the plate with the rice." I immediately corrected her "if you don't say the order # or what the food consists of, we will not know." She ignored me and still said the same thing with another of our orders. I ordered a combination pho and didn't have any meatballs. Our order of dumpling was only microwaveable and soggy potstickers! It came out within 2 min. as a last min add on order. We should have walked out at the beginning but we were very patient and had to speak up for ourselves. While we were eating, we noticed the older lady being friendly and smiling talking to another customer sitting behind us. We've been here at least a few times and it's no wonder there's hardly any customers. We usually just see 1-2 other small table filled. We will not be returning. We only stopped by as it was on the way to our next destination. The older Asian lady and the staff needs serious training on how to provide customer service.
