Pho Kietzke is definitely worth checking out if you're craving a solid bowl of pho. We came during the week so the place was empty, however the parking lot is a little limited due to other businesses in the area. The restaurant itself is pretty dated inside, but don't let that discourage you. The service was warm and friendly, and the food was the highlight. The broth was flavorful without being overly heavy or salty, and the ratio of noodles to meat was just right! The portions are generous for the price comparing them to other places in the area making it a great value. Overall, it's just a really satisfying bowl of pho. Found this place on yelp. Was visiting from out of town for a vball tournament. Private parking lot, lots of parking. Decent amount of table seating inside. Ordered the dac biet, only one size, I'm glad there's came with meat ball, usually I have to is extra for that. Also got the egg rolls but it was weird cos they gave us ice berg lettuce with it. Also got the pork and beef banh mi. Pho was flavorful, lots of meats. I had to give to my husband to finish. Banh mi was a good portion too. I love to try different places for Pho and other Asian soups. Pho Kietzke was solid. I ordered the Wor Wonton with noodles. It was really good, although they put fried wontons in there, which I had never experienced before in a soup. Maybe that's a "thing", and I'm just unaware. I probably would prefer the typical steamed/boiled wontons (or however it's done!). The service was good. There's no real ambience to speak of; it's in a little shopping strip mall. We like to try different pho restaurants and this one had a lot of food options. We want to come back and try their food plates. When we came it was quite empty, there is a friendly older lady who greets you. Order was taken at a timely manner, they allowed time for us to check the menu and checked on us when they saw we were ready. I ordered their hu tieu and although it wasn't the traditional way, it still had the light and fresh flavor. It came with lots of vegetables, shrimp, and chicken. My husband has their beef pho which was good and he finished the bowl. I tried the broth, it was beefy and herby. You can taste the star anise which didn't bother us. In my personal opinion, what determines the status of a pho restaurant is the savory quality of its pho broth and the texture of the thin rice noodles. As far those qualities go, Pho Kietzke pass with flying colors and a top choice for Reno area. I can not speak for its other menu items, as I tend to order only spring rolls and pho whenever visiting a pho restaurant. The Viet spring rolls were just alright, nothing remarkable. The service was prompt enough and friendly. The interior seating area is absolutely nothing remarkable and smelled like a well used kitchen. My favorite Vietnamese restaurant was closed and I was craving some pork chop rice. This happened to be close to where I was located so I figure why not try it out. Ambience: A small restaurant. Likely can accommodate multiple large parties. I opted not to eat in the restaurant as it appears they have a lack of air conditioning or really poor ventilation. Only constructive criticism is the temperature of the restaurant. It's super hot inside. Restaurant appears to be clean. 3/5 Service: I can't complement on the service during meal as this was a to go order. However, everyone was very friendly and helping me choose an option and answer questions. 5/5 Food: Chops were tender and well flavored. Elite tip: pork chops are seasoned in a lemongrass forward profile. If you do not like lemongrass, the pork chop will not be something I recommended. Portion sizes were appropriate and competitive with other Vietnamese restaurants in Reno. Pickled carrots and turnips were well seasoned, crunchy, and tasted fresh. This was a first visit and I will for sure be back. We decided to get our order to go but next time I'd want to take the time to enjoy a proper sit down meal. The one greeted us very politely and that was a nice start. Our waitress was also very sweet. We ordered the chicken Pho and spring rolls. With the temps dropping, you could feel every draft entering through loosely sealed windows but the owner had space heaters up and running so it was nicely addressed. A very cozy little establishment. Our order came promptly and I really liked how they brought the broth separate from the rest of the ingredients. We'd never been to this place before, but upon walking in you could tell that this place is a sweet lil mom and pop shop. it's family owned and operated and you can taste the love these people have for their recipes in their food. They have a delicious pho and we were pleased to find they also serve some of the best pad thai in town. We did have a minor problem with the bread on the banh mi we ordered, but the owner Lily was very understanding and they did their best to fix it. Lunch on Friday at a new place (for us), Pho Kietzke. Plenty of selection on the menu. Broke from my normal BBQ pork fried rice and choose stir fried beef with veggies over rice. It was quite good and a lunch size portion. But let me go back! First we split an order of shrimp spring rolls. The rolls were very good and similar to most I've ever had. However, the peanut sauce was warm and therefore runny. Had it been cool it would have clung to the rolls much better and served its proper purpose better. My wife had crispy prawns. She loved them. In fact, so much so that I didn't get so much as a taste. Well next time. Our server took our order, checked back and cashed us out. She was wonderful and cared much for the customers. The proudly displayed 'people love us on YELP' sign right over the register was proof of that! Several workers were having lunch and to hear them order you knew they had been here before. I really enjoy their food. I always order the spring roll shrimp, with the peanut sauce. The spring rolls are great. But the penis sauce, the majority of the time it's great and there's some sometimes when it's too sweet or too runny. Let's preface this review by saying that I'd been to this place a couple of times before a while back. I returned because someone implored me to give it another shot because they thought it was great. I'm always willing to give an establishment another chance to show me that they've improved. Sadly, that was not the case for this visit. This review is ONLY for their Pho. I haven't tried any of their other offerings which seem to have very varied reviews. I might be tempted to go in to try their other items, but in light of what I experienced, I kind of doubt that I will. A few years ago, I went on a "hunt" for Pho around this area which would satisfy my taste profile and for the quality of product that I expect, being a HUGE fan of this type of food and having eaten it in many different places around the area, as well as all around North America. At the time, I literally tried every Pho joint around and finally found what I was looking for...which wasn't here. Unfortunately, the place that was my Pho go-to changed ownership this last year and I'm not overly enamored of the changes that the new ownership implemented. I don't like it as much as the original owner's offerings. So, I'm on the "hunt" again for my new favorite Pho, which will involve revisiting every place around the area! Went in during lunch. Small place, probably seats around 20 or so people...there were over a dozen people there when I went by. That's always an encouraging sign...a busy place means that it's popular and that usually means something's being done right. They were about to prove me wrong. The waitress motioned for me to sit down at a 2 top and handed me a menu...never said a word. She brought me water and she uttered the only words she would say to me, "what do you want?". I ordered the #9 Combination Pho ($13.95) [Rare Beef, Well Done Flank, Brisket, Tendon, Tripe & Meatballs] This is a "benchmark" Pho for me which I usually order every time. She brought it out about 5 minutes of so later, dropped it off and disappeared...all without saying another word to me. It felt like she couldn't care less that I was there! Plus, she NEVER came back to check on me OR to bring my check...when I finished, I had to go to the cash register where I paid. Where do I start? On the plus side, it was an ample portion, as was the side accoutrements that accompany most any Pho (Basil/Cilantro/Limes/Jalapeno/Bean Sprouts). All the standard sauces were on the table...Hoisin, Sri Racha, Chile Sauce and Chile Oil. The cons? Oh, so many... Before adding the sauces or accoutrements any time I have Pho in a new place, I always taste the broth as they serve it. Meh...bland...very lacking in seasoning, no depth of flavor. Even after adding everything, it still was lacking. The noodles, which I always dive in for first, were all clumpy...bad sign. Not very much protein...basic amount of beef, flank and brisket...all the meats were chewy and flavorless. The meatballs were a decent size, but bland...and there was absolutely NO tripe or tendon at all. All in all, a very unsatisfying experience that I doubt I'll repeat. My 3rd time in...3 strikes and you're out in my book. A LOT of the reviews tell of very inconsistent service and food...if that's the case, don't let MY opinion sway you...go see for yourself...maybe you'll have better luck than I did! read more

Zero check ins after food showed up. Which is surprising because after a single bite of the chowmein, the rest sat there untouched. She looked at me and the plate multiple times and never came over to see if everything was okay. Chowmein was swimming in grease, and since when has combo chowmein had bell peppers, mushrooms, and cauliflower? Tell me you bought frozen vegetable medley, without telling me. The pho was mid at best, my husband asked for his pho with no vegetables, and when it arrived, had onions and cilantro all up on top of that thing. Crab rangoons were trash in and out. How this place has 4 stars on yelp and 4.5 on google really has me wondering if they are paying their friends and family for the positive reviews with one review stating "pho comparable to what you would get in Vietnam" $64 dollars worth of food left on the table, and the lady at the front has the nerve to say "Please consider tipping" MA'AM, for what? All the food is on the table uneaten. Here's your tip, DO BETTER. Will keep to our usual spot at Pho777 downtown. Our mistake for wanting to try something new. Lesson learned. read more

Got the oxtail pho and added rare filet mignon steak on the side for $5 extra to share with my husband. I wasn't expecting the pho to be with cabbage and mushrooms but it was a nice switch up if you like those veggies to begin with. The noodles were cooked perfectly bouncy and not overcooked/soft. The broth was very light, yet full of flavor and help me come back life! I wasn't going to give this place a bad review until they cheated my sister by charging her the wrong price for all 3 items we ordered. My sister didn't pay attention to the prices and they made their customers go straight to the cash register to pay for the bill. Which doesn't leave you time to inspect the bill or question it. We only realized it after we left, when I asked her to see the receipt. That's when we saw the lady charged $15.95 for each item for all 3 items, when all 3 were supposed to be under $14 each. What a scam they pulled! First off, the place looked rundown and old. The kitchen area didn't look clean, it's a little grungy when we were there. The food was only average. But what pissed me off is they charged about $2 more for all of the items we ordered. (It's not a price increase from old menu, I checked their current menu.)
