Come check out this new spot in mid town Reno. They elevating the Vietnamese dishes with a new take to flavors. We tried both the New York steak Pho and the tofu bowl vermicelli. The broth from the pho was very light and full of flavors. Easy to drink the full soup with out feeling heavy. The tofu came with a unique sauce, and not the traditional fish sauce. You have to come try the dishes. Menu has a good variety to try. I for sure would come back. Prices are great range for the amount of food you getting. Sarah our server was a sweetheart. I came here on a Saturday night and it was busy! The interior was super pretty - all of the decor was imported from Vietnam! Every table was seated. My table ordered the wagyu pho, Sticky chicken wings, and eggrolls. The eggrolls were really good! Super crispy and had a lot of filling. The wagyu pho came fairly quickly. It came with 4 pieces of wagyu and a separate bowl of broth for the wagyu to cook in. By the time the chicken wings came out, I was so full. But I couldn't resist not eating a chicken wing or two..or three. The chicken wings reminded me of the wings you can find in Orange County, CA. This place did not disappoint. Came here during lunch. They were pretty busy. We still got seated quickly. The food is good. I had the shaking beef. $7 upcharge for noodles seems like a bit much in my opinion. I also tried the fresh spring rolls. I wanted to try the pork sausage spring rolls, but they were not available so that was a bit disappointing. The sauce the spring rolls come with was really sweet. I could barely taste peanut butter flavor. My son got the combination pho. The broth was delicious. Service wasn't bad. No one was rude. This lovely restaurant is a great addition to the north end of midtown. It is tucked away in the mini business strip where Greatful Gardens is located. Upon entering the small but welcoming area festooned with orchids and other tropical plants, we were warmly greeted and shown to a comfy booth in the dining room. The space is open an filled with natural blight with a warm clean atmosphere. We were well served by Sarah and the other employees. Water and menus were brought right away. My partner in crime and I decided to share the Fresh Spring Rolls and the Lunch Special Bành Mì. Both were delicious, fresh and very good. This is a fantastic new Vietnamese spot! The atmosphere is beautiful--modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed. Its Midtown location makes it a convenient place to meet up with friends or grab a nice dinner. I ordered the shaking beef, which was incredibly flavorful and crispy with a rich, savory umami taste and perfectly cooked. The grilled oysters paired wonderfully with an ice-cold Sapporo and made for a great start to the meal. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. I was sad to hear the pork spring roll was unavailable as that was what I came here for, so I ended up ordering the tofu spring roll. It was descent. The tofu appears lightly fried, but without the dryness and almost tastes like the fresh tofu. Their peanut sauce is also descent, nothing spectacular. Wings were okay and their pho is okay. Their pork chop lacks flavor. Garlic noodles are good, but seems to have lots of butter. Parking can be a pain as it's a small lot. Grand opening, busy. Nice fusion menu with good classics and staples. I came here on their second day of opening so there's a lot of buzz and it's really busy. I came with a party of 4 adults and one kid. We did family style and shared a few appetizers and banh mi. Ambiance - very clean, feels open, and price is comparable to other Vietnamese establishments. Music - some nice millennial pop mix, not so loud that you can't hear. I ordered the tofu banh mi. Great toasted bread, nice fresh fried tofu, good ratio of picked veggies. Egg rolls, nice crunch and paired well with a great dipping sauce. Wish it came with more in an order lol. Chicken wings. 5 spice, great flavors and not too salty. We will definitely be back to try other items. Parking is the only down side. You may have to find other space away from complex. It's a bright, clean, and well-organized space with a welcoming atmosphere. The menu is fairly limited at the moment, which is understandable if they're still in their soft opening phase. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. On this visit, we ordered the New York Steak Pho, Galbi Short Ribs with Garlic Noodles, and Shaking Beef with Steamed Rice. Overall, the Galbi Short Ribs with Garlic Noodles and the Shaking Beef leaned a bit on the sweet side. Both dishes were heavily marinated, which made the meat very tender but also left it lacking the natural texture and bite I usually enjoy. The New York Steak Pho had a flavorful, well-balanced broth, but the steak was sliced a little too thick. As a result, it was slightly tough and chewy rather than the tender texture I was hoping for. Overall, it was a pleasant first visit with friendly service and a comfortable dining environment. I'd be interested to come back after the full menu is available and see how things develop beyond the soft opening. :) read more

Just a quick update to my previous review. I'm sorry I missed the Grand Opening, but at least we managed a table without a wait. I was the 11th review, now there are 65, and I'm just wondering how they have slipped all the way to a 4.9 rating I'll have to review the reviews and find out who was smoking crack. Being in Reno for years now and loving food, I have become a regular at only a half a dozen restaurants because I like to bounce around. This WILL become my regular Sunday outing, so thank you Kelly and crew for creating this new Midtown Gem! And yes, we'll see you next Sunday Absolutely LOVE the new and simple menu. As you recommended last time, I had the Pho. Recommendation rewarded with some of the best I have ever had. The broth was incredible!! I was so excited to try this new restaurant in Midtown. The service by Sarah was impeccable and the food was amazing! I love the fresh flower garden at the front and it has a great casual but but slightly upscale vibe. We shared the spring rolls with peanut sauce, which tasted very fresh. I had the Bun Noodle Bowl with a short rib add-on and my sister had the garlic noodles with short ribs. Portions were plentiful and delicious. We came here on a Thursday night to try out this new place. It was still their soft opening and their grand opening was soon to be coming up. We had a fantastic experience. The food is plated, beautifully and delicious. We ordered the sticky fish sauce chicken wings, and the shaking beef with garlic noodles. I hubby and I were thoroughly impressed with the quality and flavors of these dishes. The good-sized chicken wings were fabulous---crunchy with a great sauce. The shaking beef dish had very tender steak slices, green bell peppers, and onions, but it was the garlic noodles that elevated the whole dish. Make sure to order the garlic noodle noodles! Sarah, our server was delightful and so helpful. Her outstanding attention, knowledge of the menu and genuine concern was also a highlight of our dining experience. The place is absolutely beautiful with much attention to detail to the decor and aesthetics. Hopefully they will add more chicken dish options as they expand and finalize their menu. We also loved that an extra fee is not applied when using a credit card. Highly recommend to others and for sure we will be back many times. I was so excited to hear that Ken and his wife were opening a new restaurant. We have been huge fans of Asian Crawfish for a couple of decades. What a beautiful restaurant. Great upscale place for Vietnamese food! Service was prompt with a smile. A perfect pour in my IPA. Fish sauce wings were savory, super crispy, juicy and "fish saucy". Most unique of the wing choices. Not pictured was the garlic noodles with galbi. Galbi was well marinated and smoky and the noodles absorbed the flavor of the sauce well and had the perfect chew. Spring rolls were spring rolls with that great sweet peanut sauce. This is one of the few places that you can get a classic banh mi with the classic cold cuts and THE PATE! Bread was a great crusty baguette. Best banh mi in town, in my opinion. They did a great job hyping up excitement for the grand opening but you'll leave even more excited after you try the food. Wonderful new edition to midtown. Located next to Greatful Gardens. The customer service is above and beyond, our server Sara was a gem. Their Spring rolls were fresh, the eggrolls were hot and crunchy and the dry rub wings were crispy and salty, just delish! I can't wait to try the other wings on the menu. The banh mi sandwhich is good if you don't want a huge meal. The bread was perfect and it had Good flavors. I got the shaking beef with garlic noodles upgraded, would definitely have this again, it had a ton of flavor. It consists of bell pepper, onion and tender beef. Definitely try the garlic noodles. Also tried the combination pho, it was delicious! It has steak, brisket and meatball. Very filling. Loved the thicker noodles, tasty broth. I think this place has good things coming for it. When I sat down and waited I was thinking of giving them a 3 especially after ordering and getting my wagyu pho, then the appetizers came (spring rolls, grilled oysters, and chicken wings) and my wife's garlic noodles and kalbi. Let me say those were more than good enough to bring it up to 4. The problem i had with the pho was it was a bit underwhelming for a 48 hour broth, wasnt bad but for the name and adding wagyu the best beef you can put in it, the flavor was lacking. Im sure they will get better here as the owners obviously know this business and is their first offering with pho. It didnt leave me with the same indulgence and I can drink all of it and more like sip of Saigon does. Now to the positive side, their cooked plates are bomb as the garlic noodles are similar to the ones in their other restaurant which is top notch. The egg rolls have more than the basic vietnamese just enough crunch and flavor (what can you expect from fried rolls that are normally served so hot your mouth cant taste anything from being burned.). They were good enough to say we made a good choice in trying this place out. The oysters were also unique but by then we had so much food on the table. Next time we will narrow down our favorites at this restaurant and enough will probably have improved to increase to a 5 star rank. The staff is very friendly engage and you can tell they care operating it like a family. The cool thing about it too is the choice to have an open style kitchen were you can see how clean things are, unlike some other pho places in town that keep getting shut down due to rats and cockroach infestations. read more

As a long-time fan of Ken's original restaurant, Crawfish Asian Cuisine, I knew this restaurant would definitely be another I visit often. His dishes are just that good! I must admit, this is one of the restaurants where I have a habit of eating my food before I can take a picture of it, and I've already visited several times during soft opening. This restaurant is in the heart of Midtown Reno, in the same area where Batch and Great Full Gardens is. There is usually adequate parking, but if it's a busier time where the lot is full, I recommend parking on Tahoe St. and walking over. The vibes of the restaurant are classy with a nice touch of greenery from the plants (both real and fake for decoration). The tables/chairs are sleek and comfortable, the tablewares are of great quality, and the bathrooms are spotless. As expected, Ken and his team provide superb service (shoutout to Sarah, our waitress), and the dishes are 10/10. Everything was delicious and the pho broth was definitely similar to back home. The nước mắm wings are so good (have to order!) and the Phó đặc biệt was delicious! We also got the wagyu pho. We liked that the wagyu was kept separate but noticed that the bowl didn't retain heat well. Other than that it was still really good! Employees were attentive even with how busy it was following their grand opening. They notified us of the wait to take our order but once we ordered, the food came out in about 5-10 mins. The food was so yummy! I'm always down for a good bowl of pho, even on a hot day. The grilled oysters are an absolute must-order! My friend and I ended up needing an order each. They're topped with scallions and garlic, which add so much flavor, and even though they're grilled, they're still incredibly juicy and not dry at all. I also loved the Wagyu Pho. The wagyu is served on the side for you to cook in a separate broth, which made it such a fun and interactive experience. My friend ordered the Pho Bo Kho (beef stew), and it was packed with flavor. We tried the gỏi cuốn (spring rolls), phở bò kho (beef stew), phở tái bò viên, and bún tàu hũ. The gỏi cuốn surprisedly tasted like it was just made. I would just suggest wrapping it little tighter it felt like it was going to break and the sauce was on the lighter side it should be a much more hoisin than peanut butter then water to thin it out but the taste actually pretty great just color needs a bit more work but a lot of other Vietnamese restaurant premade, wrap and put in the fridge I'm glad this place makes it fresh. Phở bò kho very well seasoned and the meat was tender. The broth was thin not thick with not a lot fat which had the aromatic flavor come through the amazing broth. We had some miscommunication with the phở tái normally at Vietnamese restaurant it includes the tái (rare beef meat) and bò viên (meatball) together but it didn't so we got charged the original price $17 of phở tái + $3 charge for extra meatballs total of $20 this wasn't communicated to us that it would be an extra charge if this was the case I would have just ordered the tái. But thinking about it now would been better to order the special combo (phở đặc biệt) it would be $18 ($2 cheaper) with all the meats including brisket. Anyways the broth very rich, tender good quality meat and meatballs. The side vegetables were fresh nothing looked like it was outdated or bad quality. Bún tàu hũ the tofu cooked with good sear color but wasn't crispy enough for my liking. The egg roll didn't taste fresh it did taste similar to Costco frozen vegetable egg roll that comes into like 40-50 pieces. The doors are a bit odd there is 3 doors but the frosted door you would think that is the main door but it's actually the 2nd door (side door). It's very modern feel in the restaurant very bright, beautiful decor of flowers and grass wall decor. The service is pretty good the staff are very friendly from the moment you walk in, to the service, to walking out. I would say a bit disorganized getting your entree first then your appetizer then just communicate with the customer about extra charges. I hope they bring more Vietnamese dishes that are not well known to Reno before I saw bò né (Vietnamese sizzling steak and eggs breakfast) on the menu but it was removed. I hope it will come back. This is actually one of the better Vietnamese restaurant that recently open out of several of their competitors. I would honestly come back. read more
