Service is exceptional! Server staff members including the owner checked in on me while I was in for lunch. I ordered the Spring Rolls to start and the Rare Steak Pho. Both were incredibly delicious. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. I recommend checking this spot out if you haven't.
3 stars overall when it comes to Golden Dragon. My family and I came here to enjoy some authentic Asian food for dinner and while the business offers up a variety of Vietnamese cuisine, the flavors were either a hit or miss. Our party of 8 showed up and was immediately seated. The restaurant is good in size and can easily accommodate large groups comfortably. Dinner for our crew consisted of: *COM GA HAP MUOI CHIEN [CRISPY SALTED CHICKEN RICE PLATE] + $3 FRIED EGG *COM THIT NUONG [GRILLED PORK RICE PLATE] *GRILLED PORK ROLLS [NEM NUONG CUON] *BANH KHOT [MINI SAVORY PANCAKES] *BANH CANH CUA [CRAB UDON NOODLE SOUP] *HEAVEN AND EARTH [ROASTED DUCK AND ROASTED PROK OVER RICE + SWEET SOY] *HU TIEU NAM VANG KHO W/ EGG NOODLES- DRY NAM VANG EGG NOODLES. *BUN BO HUE [SPICY BEEF NOODLE SOUP] Order Breakdown: Salty crispy chicken was good- a little dry but very doable. The fried egg was cooked well. The com thit nuong was a good dish- meats were flavorful and tender. Nem cuon was good and was rolled so very neatly. Banh khot was good but more surprisingly, the nuoc mam dipping sauce was great. Most restaurants can't deliver when it comes to nuoc mam but Golden Dragon's recipe is yum. Banh canh cua was okay- udon noodles were stingy and the bowl consisted primarily of broth. Heaven and Earth was the best yet one of the more disappointing meals. The roasted pork was deliciously moist and paired so very well with the sweet soy. the roasted duck was horrible- DRY DRY DRY and consisted primarily of boney pieces. There wasn't much to eat when it came to duck- DO NOT BUY! Mi nam vang was overly sweet and the noodles were mushy from being cooked too long. Bun bo hue was bland but once you tweek the bowl with the chili/shrimp paste concoction, this bowl was very much enjoyed. I would get this again. Like I said, things were either good or they were bad. If you are craving Viet food, Golden Dragon offers a good amount of items to tickle your fancy. Flavor profiles lean more towards a sweeter direction. Roasted bird [chicken + duck] dishes do not come recommended because the chef's cook time is extremely off- either that or they serve old, reheated bird. Customer service was good.
Unfortunately, this was a disappointing meal. The food did not taste fresh. I ordered the special combo with pork chop, shredded pork, a fried egg, and Vietnamese pork meatloaf. The pork chop and shredded pork were dry, the vermicelli tasted old, almost like it had been sitting overnight, and the pork meatloaf had an unpleasant flavor that I didn't enjoy at all. For $19+I expected much better quality. The biggest issue was the fresh spring rolls. The lettuce inside had brown and black spots and looked spoiled. I couldn't believe it wasn't noticed before the rolls were made. It was very unappetizing and made me lose my appetite. The service was okay, but the food quality was disappointing, especially for the price. :(
I heard Golden Dragon was replacing 999 Pho. We heard they were good so we came in on a Friday and they only had 2 tables with people. A staff person greeted us and we could sit wherever. We ordered the combination pho, spring rolls, and the iced Vietnamese coffee. Everything came out very quickly and very hot. The pho broth was savory and flavorful. The noodles and meat were delicious. However, I wish there were more noodles without paying extra. The portion seemed smaller than other places. Otherwise, the quality of the pho is exceptional. The spring rolls were good. The peanut sauce is not as thick as I like it, but it was still good. The iced Vietnamese coffee was amazing! It was not too sweet, and not too bitter with enough coffee flavor. The interior was definitely remodeled and they expanded to the neighboring building. They repainted all the walls, multiple TVs were hung, and the tables/chairs are new. I love how all the changes make it feel. It's very comfortable and relaxing. We will come here more often in the future because they are good, quick service, and love the new feel of the environment.
Second time visiting golden dragon! Loved that they had special Viet food on a separate menu for you to try and highly recommend! Banh xeo was huge with plentiful of fresh veggies for you to wrap it with. Dish is light which is perfect for the warmer months and can easily feed 2-3 people. The Vietnamese sandwich is just ok. Would recommend adding more pickled veggies to it. Service was great! Everyone checked in on you throughout the visit. Restaurant was casual with open seating. Plenty of spots for parking.
Been here twice and loved my dining experience here twice. The restaurant is very spacious with a bar in the middle. Even though the sign upon entering says "please wait to be seated," they give you the option to pick any available seating they have. The service here is always friendly and quick and informative if you're not custom to traditional Vietnamese cuisine. What I like most about Golden Dragon is that they have food like bánh xèo (Vietnamese savory crepe that's filled with either pork or shrimp), bún riêu (vermicelli noodles in a tomato crab soup), bò bía (a lot like a spring roll but the usual fillings are jicama, Chinese sausage, eggs and herbs, bò kho (beef stew served) with bread but you can also add noodles among the popular Vietnamese dishes. The food here reminds me of home. The first time, I tried their bun bo hue because I'm a sucker for well made bun bo hue (this place lets you add in the spice yourself so you can have adjust the spice to your liking). I love the chả lụa (Vietnamese ham), pork blood, tendon, beef slices in it topped with shredded cabbage, thai basil and lime juice. The broth is hearty and warming. I dropped in a second time for some chicken pho. Delicious broth and generous amount of chicken topped with green onions. Also to note, all food portions here are huge.
I dropped by Golden Dragon to get a taro-flavored boba. When I entered the restaurant, they were pretty busy for a Thursday afternoon but the lady said I could sit at the counter and the young lady asked what I was waiting for and I said I wanted to order a taro boba. She immediately processed my order and rang me up at a register on the other side of the room; the transaction was quick and easy; the young lady was very accommodating and boba tasted great. Overall, it was brief but positive visit.
When you've been in Reno for 4 days eating nothing but American food, this establishment such a comfort to find. We ordered Vietnamese eggrolls (fried in rice paper yumm), popcorn chicken, fried rice, and 2 orders of banh canh cua. I chose to come here because they have banh canh cua on the menu! I'm currently fixated on this thick crab udon noodle soup!! The place has been updated so it's very nice and well kept inside. Service was quick, friendly, and welcoming. I would definitely come back!!
Food was fantastic. I had the duck over rice, and it was cooked perfectly with great flavor and texture. Every appetizer we tried was tasty and crisp, clearly made fresh and done right. Everything felt well prepared and satisfying. Service was smooth and attentive, especially for a newer restaurant. Staff was welcoming and made sure everything came out correctly. Ambiance is small but functional. The space is not huge, but it works well and feels comfortable for what it is. Overall, 10 out of 10 for a new restaurant. Great food, solid service, and a strong first impression.
FOOD - Roast Duck Noodle Soup: egg noodles with roasted duck and bok choy. The soup was so savory. The duck was very meaty and plentiful. The portion was huge! I asked for no green onions and there was so much green onions! Took me a few minutes to scoop them out. This is possibly the best mi vit tiem I've ever had. 5/5 SERVICE: The young lady who took our order was very friendly (and pretty)! She was attentive and welcoming. 4.5/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area. The food was very good. My husband and kids enjoyed their pho. I was so sad that I didn't see bun rieu on their separate menu. That's what I was craving. Now I have to return for it!
The Golden Dragon took over the old location of Pho 999, in the Franktown Corners shopping center. The interior is spacious if not a bit spartan. We went with a large group of friends, so lots of pics of the dishes. The consensus was that the food was "Good". My wife had the Korean Short Ribs over Rice. I was able to sneak a few bits. This dish was really good. The short ribs had a nice, grilled taste. The ribs were flavorful and tender. Really Good. I had the House Special Pho. A traditional Pho dish, served with rare steak, brisket, tripe, tendon and meatballs. What determines if a Pho is good versus amazing is often the broth. On this occasion, I thought the broth was just "okay". Overall the dish was fine but not the best Pho I have ever had. The service was good, as the restaurant was quite busy for a Sunday evening. Would I come here again ? Sure. Enough of our friends seemed to enjoy their meals, so happy to try more dishes.
This Viet Restaurant has one of the best Bánh xèo I've ever had. The thin pancake has a slight chewy interior texture while the exterior is crispy and crunchy. It is stuffed with ground pork, shrimps, bean sprouts and mung beans and is eaten as a wrap with lettuce, mint and other pickled veggies which they give you a huge helping of. Dip it in their special fish sauce and you'll constantly crave for this incredibly tasty dish. Its large serving size is definitely shareable unless you have a huge appetite. The restaurant is bright and inviting and the servers are very attentive and friendly. Definitely coming back when I'm in the Reno area.
Great service. Clean large space! Super nice to our toddler. Pho tasted like restaurants in SoCal with large Viet populations. Was super excited to have legit cha gio (egg rolls) with rice paper! These are so hard to find! So yummy!

Golden Dragon in Reno is a solid four star spot. We tried the beef noodle soup with rice noodles and the pho combo. Both dishes came out steaming hot which was amazing, especially on a cold day. The beef was tender and the broth had a comforting savory flavor. The pho did not taste as authentic as it could be, but it was still enjoyable and satisfying. Service was quick, portions were generous, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Overall, a good place for a warm bowl of noodles in Reno. read more
My friends used to come to 999 Pho when it was still at this location and when my boyfriend and I heard that there's a new pho place that took over, we were excited to try it. Our first impression was that the atmosphere has been completely transformed and got a new make over - the interior of this restaurant is nice and spacious! We came on a Friday night and it was not completely busy to the point where we had to wait to be seated but quite a few tables, especially large parties, were filled. We were seated right away. Though the host asked another waitress to seat us but then the waitress went to cater to another table after being asked to do so. It was a few seconds until she realized we were waiting for her to seat us and apologized and told us we can go to table that we liked. My boyfriend and I ordered the house special pho, rare steak pho, spring rolls, and a thai tea. There was no sauce dishes on the table so we had to ask them for it when we received our pho. Food was okay. The biggest issue I had was that we never received the thai tea. It took me until after we got our pho that I realized we never received it. I was planning on asking the waitress for the status on it but at that point I didn't want it anymore after the service we experienced. They still charged us for the thai tea on the receipt so we had to ask them to remove it. A waitress came by and dropped off a complimentary green dessert which we appreciated though she didn't say a word to us or told us what it was. Overall, the service was really what negatively impacted our experience. read more
Located in the Franktown Corners Shopping Center. We were greeted and seated immediately, the place was clean and our server was so friendly. The spicy beef stew was good and came out piping hot! But it wasn't really spicy, had to add more hot sauce. My son got the beef stew noodle soup and it was really good! Really good flavor, had yams in it which was delicious! The soup bowls are very big btw. I tried the vermicelli stir fried beef, I wish there was as much meat to rice ratio, my only minor complaint. Because I also got the bbq banh mi sandwich and it was excellent!!! Lots of meat! Crunchy roll! Yum! Bathrooms are located outside to the left and need a key code. read more
We loved the previous restaurant here. But that restaurant moved down to our part of town. So when we saw the "new" place open up we headed there as soon as the Vietnamese food craving hit. It's got the "vibe" of both Golden Flower AND 999 somehow. The Banh Xeo was more authentic than I have had anywhere else in or out of town. Something to specifically head there to get. We will return when we are in this part of town. Good stuff all around. read more

Came in and IT'S REMODELED. Place looks better than ever. Plenty of seating, some family style with benches on the wall. They also have a couple games inside for the kids. We tried multiple things. The eggrolls were nice and crispy!!! And the basil chicken appetizer was very crisp but it's a different kind of crisp, super delicious. I tried the banh canh and it was very good. The broth was tasty and the meats as well. I wish the noodles were a little bit more chewy, it kinda just fell apart, no gumminess to it. Tried the sugar cane juice original as well as the passionfruit sugar cane. Both were GREAT. The service was lovely, nice and friendly. They have multiple tvs playing all different types of things, so that was nice for a little entertainment. So far, we will be returning to try more items! read more

This is the kind of place I wish we had more of. It doesn't stop at your typical pho, rice noodle bowls, and banh mi sandwiches. Sure they have all of those, but they are also bringing more specials, and unique food items that you don't usually see in Vietnamese restaurants in the area. As this was my first visit I decided to try my Vietnamese benchmark dish, plain rare-beef pho, but I also wanted to try some of the more unique items so I got the dried shrimp and sausage roll appetizer. The rolls were good, the sauce they came with was the perfect blend of peanut, and umami flavors. The pho broth had a nice good flavor, with some of the subtle flavors you find in the best broths, but it didn't quite measure up with some of the best ones I've had. The noodles were fresh, and not over-cooked which I appreciated (nothing ruins a bowl more than boiled to hell pho noodles for me). The staff was fun and friendly, and got our food out to us fairly quickly. Also the remolded space shows that they took some time to make the place as enjoyable as possible. I'm looking forward to my next visit to golden dragon where I will be trying more of the specials and unique food items on the menu. read more
A 4 star experience for me. 5 stars for my wife, and you know she is the boss, LOL. Hence the 5 star review. Well also, 4+5 = 9/2 = 4.5 rounded up, lol. Quality/Quantity - My wife ordered a small Banh Kot, see pictures. The people next to use were eating this. They are not on the menu. A crispy, savory Vietnamese mini pancake, traditionally filled with shrimp and pork. My wife was so happy. I got the Heaven and Earth Rice Dish - Roasted duck (slightly over cooked, see pictures) and a perfectly cooked roast pork!! The savory-sweet soy sauce was so good. Overall, all the food (with the exception of the duck) was done well. Ambiance - Replaced 999 Pho's old location. Good job with the remodel. So much nicer and cleaner, thank you. Still a huge place. I have really never gone further than the front, lol. Chess and foosball available, see pictures. Not sure if it's just decor or the people actually use it...? Open 7 days a week from 10am to 9pm. Mall restrooms, which are now locked. The current code is 6789! The middle sink had too strong pressure, see video. I left soaking wet, lol. Plenty of mall parking, especially on a Sunday evening. Service - Must still be a soft opening?!?! So many team members! A full crew, hope they become so successful to keep this large crew. The owner, Long, was welcoming and friendly. Also, thank you to his wife who I believe was the one who told Long to give us a discount due to the overcooked duck. Thank you. Price - $46 (credit card price) + generous tip. Well, my wife brought overcooked duck to Long's attention and he gave us a 20% discount, thank you. Cash discount offered and with the discount it came out to $36 + generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success with this new business, support local! And your 30 years in Reno with all your other businesses! read more
I was able to get in to the grand opening of this, and it was such a treat! I've been to plenty of Vietnamese restaurants, but I believe Golden Dragon has some entrees that are unique. I tried the Banh Xeo which is a very thin crepe that appears like a large omelette stuffed with pork, shrimp, bean sprouts and carrots. And you eat it by wrapping it in a lettuce and dipping it in their fish sauce. This was so unique and so good!! The crepe was so large that I even had some leftovers. We also had the traditional pho, which was also huge. Plus they provided us with a ton of vegetables to add into the soup. They really don't skimp here! I really hope I can come back and try their other dishes like the Korean short ribs and their boba. They really got it all here! read more
9/7/2025- Ahhh on the way home and didn't realize the the new Vietnamese restaurant is the old location of 999 Pho used to be.. Really nice job on the renovations.. Open and spacious when walking in.. Love seeing the kitchen.. Plenty of staff..service was slow being how more customers were coming in.. Good sized menu with plenty of tempting dishes.. Prices seem reasonable.. Tempted with the boba drinks and donuts.. really wanted to try the banh mi chicken but saving it for next visit- Went with the crispy salted chicken and of course the duck over rice.. Duck was good with a great flavor-but a tad over cooked- Crispy salted chicken- flattened and crispy-..pretty tasty..but more crispy than moist.. Overall would come back to try different items.. I did get the honeydew boba and it was really good and simple-nothing fancy like the boba shops with decorative designed cups.. read more
One of my new favorite Vietnamese restaurants! It was my first time here and I ordered Ca Phe Sua Da (Vietnamese Iced Coffee), Pot Stickers, Egg Rolls, and Bun Bo Hue. The iced coffee was served freshly brewed with a sweet cream. Even with the cream it was very strong but still delicious. The Pot Stickers were golden and crispy on the outside and filled with juicy meat on the inside. It was served with a savory sauce and pickled veggies. The Egg Rolls were served with pickled veggies as well and also vermicelli noodles and sweet/spicy dipping sauce. Underneath the noodles there was some kind of spicy sauce. I like spicy but it was a bit much for me. The Egg Rolls were super crispy and the dipping sauce complimented it well. The Bun Bo Hue was amazing. The portion size was huge. I couldn't even finish it. The bowl was filled with lots of noodles and meat. The sides it came with looked and tasted very fresh. I loved the meats that it came with but I could do without the pork blood. It was a chilly evening and the Bun Bo Hue was a perfect pick me up. The service was excellent. The waitress came to check on us plenty of times. They have lots of seating for larger groups too. There were TVs but they weren't on yet. Overall, This place has amazing authentic Vietnamese and I will definitely be back to try more! read more

Review #003 - 2026 The restaurant is big and clean. When we showed up at around 7:45 PM on Friday, Feb. 13th, we were seated right away as there were plenty of seats available. I ordered the roast duck noodle soup, which was actually pretty flavorful, but the duck pieces were dry. I asked for chili oil and the lady brought me some crushed fresh chilis and they were definitely SPICY! My daughter had the meatball pho. The broth was just ok, but it did the job to feed a hungry little girl. My friend had the pho dac biet, and she said the broth was just ok as well. Her daughter ordered a bunch of appetizers. She complained that the popcorn chicken wasn't good so she pretty much left the whole order untouched after only taking one piece. She had one piece of the fried dumpling and said it didn't taste good either, so she also left that whole order untouched. She enjoyed the fried egg rolls though so that was a good sign, one out of three is not a great ratio though. I liked my sugarcane drink, but it was really sweet so I hope they didn't add extra sugar. My daughter had the fresh orange juice, which I did specify not to add sugar and she finished it. My friend's daughter had the fresh squeezed limeade with sparkling water, which she enjoyed. Service was friendly, but not attentive as they rarely came to check on us. I guess we may have to come back and try their other dishes to see exactly where the 4.5-star rating came from. read more

The restaurant was renovated formally known as pho 999. The restaurant is nice, neutral casual setting. Staff were wonderful and took our order . The food is good, my pork chops well marinated, goes well with steamed rice. Met the owner of the establishment, friendly . My next future visit I would definitely try their pho. No picture of the food, as I forgot to take it. read more

Tried this new Vietnamese spot in town and walked away pretty impressed with most of what we had! We started with the popcorn chicken, which was cooked very well,nice and crispy on the outside, but it lacked seasoning. Not bad, just could've used a flavor boost. The nem nuong cuon (grilled pork rolls) were solid. They were fresh, tasty, and well balanced. A great appetizer and will likely be part of my normal order. I was really excited to try the bun rieu, and I'm so glad I did. It's one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes and I can only get it when my mom makes it or if I visit LA, and this place is the only one in town that offers it. The broth was rich and comforting, had all of the different meats(though the meatball was a different texture than i'm use to but it was still good), it hit all the right notes for my bun rieu craving. Oddly, it's not listed on their online menu, but it was on the printed menu. I really hope they keep it on permanently! Another standout was the Heaven and Earth plate which was a combo of roast duck and crispy roast pork. The duck was juicy and flavorful, and the pork was moist with perfectly crispy skin. The dipping sauce that came with it was delicious and tied everything together. I saw a picture of the heaven and earth plate with bbq pork instead, but I am so glad that it came with the crispy roast pork, it was delicious! We also had the beef stew with bread (bo kho), and while the beef could've been a touch more tender, the flavor was deep and savory. The bread though, wow! Easily some of the best bread I've had! To drink, I got a ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk) and it was spot on. It was strong, sweet, and refreshing. I usually like to wait until the end of my meal to prepare and drink my coffee so usually the ice is melted. Once I started mixing my coffee, the staff was so great, they brought a fresh cup of ice without me asking! That was top tier service! Service was excellent, attentive, but never overbearing. Friendly staff and good pacing. The inside was clean, bright, and open. Felt very comfortable. One thing I'm really looking forward to is going back to try their banh mi. The bread was so good that I have high hopes. I noticed the printed menu has the traditional combination banh mi, but it doesn't appear on the online menu. That's a staple, and I really hope it stays! I will also try asking if they can make me a crispy roast pork banh mi since I think those two together will be absolutely phenomenal. Overall, a fantastic addition to the local food scene. Great flavors, unique dishes (please never get rid of the bun rieu!), and warm service. A few minor improvements could push it to a full 5 stars, but I'll definitely be back. read more

Ample parking, nicely lit restaurant. Tables can accommodate larger parties. Service was excellent.They are still in soft opening phase. Very busy on their first Saturday. We didn't order anything off the appetizer menu but did opt for the crepe. It was delicious. We'd go back just to order it. So good! read more
New Vietnamese Restaurant in Reno?! If you're into roasted duck and pork, the Heaven and Earth dish is a must-try. The flavors pair beautifully with the sauce it comes with, but I found it really shines when you add a splash of fish sauce over your rice. Absolutely delicious. The crispy salted fried chicken is another standout. The portion was just right, and I loved the contrast of the salty chicken with steamed rice and fresh veggies, which added both texture and a refreshing balance of flavor. I haven't tried their soups yet, but everything I've had so far has been impressive. The Vietnamese iced coffee is not for wimps. It's strong, packed with caffeine, and guaranteed to wake up even the sleepiest head. Service was amazing. The staff was super friendly and open to feedback. Overall, I would highly recommend Golden Dragon if you're looking for a new casual dining Asian food spot to add in your list when in Reno Nevada. Check them out. read more
We love Vietnamese food and this new spot is not to be missed! Certainly some of the best Vietnamese in town and they have several unique yet approachable dishes that many other restaurants don't. We loved everything we tried but my favorite were the little Vietnamese pancakes with shrimp. Seriously SO sweet, crispy, flavorful - just loved them. And the food was exceptionally fresh with very friendly service. We will absolutely be back! read more

My new favorite place for pho! Usually we order pho on DoorDash from here. I brought my family here to try and my viet parents (picky eaters) enjoyed the meal. The staff was nice and owner came around to chat with us too. My parents approved of the xoi man (savory sticky rice) and banh cuon dishes, so it passed the test lol. The che ba mau dessert is pretty good and I recommend eating the banh bao at the restaurant. If you take it home, the bao bottom can get soggy. It's nice to see some authentic viet dishes that you can't get elsewhere in Reno/Sparks. I do recommend trying their specials! I love their Yang Chow fried rice, it has Chinese sausage in it and some big prawns hidden inside. We got the fried rice to take home. Some things that I think can improve on is the Hu Tieu Nam Vang and the beef stew. Both were a tad too sweet for our taste. read more
