Pho Gau and Thai Tea
Ryan C.

I like this small charming shop. It has that family run feel to it, and the attention to detail in the food shows how they care. I was in the mood for pho on a rainy Sunday. I ordered Pho Gau and a Thai tea. The pho broth was savory and soothing on a cold day. Packed with rice noodles, brisket slices, scallions and red onion, it was a perfect meal. I've been trying to keep calories low recently and it was a delicious meal that left me satisfied. The tea was creamy and full of flavor. I will be back again and again.

I've eaten here over the past several years so I know what to expect. I mostly get the #24- Grilled Pork Vermicelli w/ . I just like how they cook their pork and shrimp. I had to get peanuts on the side since some family members are allergic. The staff was friendly when I went to pick-up my order. I get home right after and prepared to eat my late lunch, what initially seemed like a tiny piece of burned/charred meat started moving and then I saw the 2 antennae on it and guessed cockroach. I'm not afraid of bugs but my appetite went away. Sad to say, this might be the last time I get food from this place.

Ordered spring rolls and chow fun with pork! Noodles were cooked well and flavored nicely! I was a bit disappointed with the spring rolls, the lettuce inside had gone bad, so it had a funky texture and taste. Food came out quickly and staff was nice. Convenient location near shopping areas, so parking may be a bit annoying.

Hands down the beat Pho in Reno!!! Amazing customer service as well!! Sam was awesome and the nicest person I have met! Very kind and we made great converstaion. Thanks Sam for making my day!

My husband and I wandered in this modest little shop absolutely starving to death one Saturday morning, this was just what we needed! We were welcomed by the friendly employees and our food started flying out of the pass! We started with an order of the cheesiest crab Rangoon I have ever seen. They were piping hot and the perfect way to start our meal. We also enjoyed an order of their chicken wings, which were crispy and went so perfectly with the dipping sauce. My husband had a vermicelli bowl with beef and golden rolls, he absolutely loved it and I can confirm that it was wonderful. The rolls were crispy and flavorful, the meat juicy and the noodles always soak up the juices in a magical way. I had their special, a pork chop. It was amazing! Tender, juicy, smoky. Served with rice, a small salad and SHRIMP! Honestly, just perfect. This was our first time stopping in but it absolutely will not be our last!

Came here to finally check out this place with my son and husband. We first ordered spring rolls and egg rolls as appetizers. This is the only place I know that includes BBQ pork instead of grilled pork in their spring rolls. I was a little bit disappointed that 1 order of egg rolls only comes with 3. Wish it came with more because my family loves egg rolls. Anyways, I ordered the combination pho. The broth was good. The pieces of meat were a lot thicker than I'm used too which is good. Tried my son's chow mein and it had that yummy umami flavor. This place is probably on my top 3 pho places in Reno.

Great pho place at a really convenient location. The service is good, and the portions are decent. Their menu has a lot of great food worth trying. They also have outdoor seating, which is really awesome for summer.

Recently, I got rare steak pho and spicy chicken noodles with lemongrass broth. The pho broth was no longer thin, but very dark and salty. If there were the traditional pho spices like star anise, fennel, coriander, etc, they were heavily muted by the overwhelmingly salty beef flavor. There were hardly any garnishes (onion, cilantro, basil), so it felt just like a beef soup with noodles. The spicy chicken was spicy for sure, but the lemongrass flavor was nice and prominent. I'll try the regular chicken broth next time instead of the pho here and their fried rice (they used to have the fusion restaurant where the Brazilian steakhouse is on Virginia Street years ago, that had theee best fried rice ever with Chinese sausage). The spicy broth was too much for me (duh, the picture didn't look too spicy, but I'm a wimp) in the end, but I love fragrant Asian broths. For me, ironically, their Pho isn't their strong point, but I liked a lot of their other dishes at least in the past, so that's what I'll stick with in the future.

One of my favorite spots for a quick lunch during the work week! The bahn mi is served on a crispy roll, flavorful meat, pickled onion and carrot, and fresh cilantro. For just over $5 it is a perfect amount of food for lunch and so flavorful! The fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce are always a favorite dish at any Thai/pho restaurant and the ones served here and delicious. They are usually 10-15 minutes wait when you call in an order which is perfect to run over from my office and get back quickly.

Extremely dry grilled pork banh mi and spicy shrimp lemongrass noodle soup that looks better than it tastes

This pho place services large portions of food and the pricing for it is great, the food itself has been good every time I've gone.

If you are reading this review, it is because you already like Phò. I love Phò, and have been…read moreeating it for over 30 years in lots of restaurants in Portland Oregon, San Francisco, California, Garden Grove, all over San Diego. I think the Phò at 999 Pho is excellent. The broth is rich and complex, the cuts of meat we had were excellent quality, thinly sliced and fresh. The basil, bean sprouts and jalapeños were fresh and plentiful. The noodles were standard for Phò. The prices were reasonable, the service was attentive. The atmosphere was average. This is not fancy dining, but it is not expected to be. My wife and I will definitely eat here every time we visit Reno.

I actually didn't put two and two together until I wrote this review and realized I'm consistent in my rating with giving the 4 stars. 999 Pho is 10 minutes away from Reno airport. They have a variety of items from rice to pho to chow mein to rice noodles to sandwiches. We ordered: Ox tail pho ($18) - came with a few small ox tails. The broth was clean and sweet. Dice beef filet mignon ($18) - came w rice and veggies. Seasoning was alright, could be more aromatic and bold, as well as tender texture. Keep in mind that take out orders under steam rice/broken rice is an additional $0.50 charge. Our table also order spring rolls and stir fried rice noodles. She meant to order chow mein but pointed to the photo so it came out with the flat rice noodles. Last time we were at their old location. Since then they moved to this new location. Love the selection and variety of food. We ordered the pho combo, banh xeo, shrimp with lobster…read moresauce and rainbow roll to go and a boba drink for the kids. I'm giving a 4/10 for the pho combo, the broth wasn't flavorful and it was cloudy but the noodles and meats were fine. I don't really like adding hosin sauce to my broth but I had too. The banh xeo I'm giving a 6/10 because the it wasn't crispy but the meats was good and it was large. It came with lettuce and herbs. Shrimp and lobster sauce was good that was 8/10. The rainbow roll was 7.5/10.

The menu is humongous. Dim sum, Chinese, sushi, Vietnamese, with lots of choices from every part of the menu. I started with the crab Rangoon's, and they were very good. The filling was a little bit sweet, and a little bit savory, and the shell was well fried, crispy, and not oily at all. They were offering a BOGO on the combination plate, and so that's what I went for. I had the garlic chicken, and the chicken with seasonal. Veggies. On both dishes, the chicken was moist and tender. The veggies were done well. Just the right consistency, not mushy at all. The taste was great. The only thing I could say, was, the garlic chicken was a bit spicy. About medium on what I like for spice, you could definitely see the red pepper flakes on that food. Unfortunately, nowhere in the menu did it mention the spicy part of it. I did like it, and the spice was within what I like, but I think the next time I would order something else. The fried rice was very well done with a good flavor also. It was just the rice. It had no egg or veggies in it. I had enough for two meals on the first combo, and the second one went into my portable cooler, and is going home to Sacramento with me. For all I got, the price was extremely reasonable, even if I would've gotten only one combination. Thank you very much.
