They had a wonderfully spicy, hot but not scalding hot, chicken noodle soup that was just plain bland last week (early June 2023). Okay, everyone has an off day. Rather than making the trek to south Reno just to go here, I went to Home Depot for shopping and walked over to the restaurant to get pho tai. It too was bland, just too watery. Gotta give it up for consistency, and Pho restaurant consistently delivers for me! Not literally. That would be awesome though! Cold or hot outside, I love me some Asian noodles, and when that craving comes calling, it must be answered! Lately I haven't been feeling like dining out much, so take out joints are my jam, and Pho has been on their game each time. I'm not sure who was running the register that day, but hat tip to you for remembering and using my name through the whole transaction. That's personalization, and it's a hard skill to teach, but it goes a long way. The order is very straightforward. #23, extra chili oil and chili garlic, plus a side of spring rolls. The spring rolls here are not my favorite, but there's something about the cool crispness with the soup that is so satisfying. I am posting this before I try the food because I am highly disappointed with the lack of customer service and care by this restaurant. 1. I placed my order for a Bahn mi and soup 45 minutes ago and the order is not ready. WTF? 2. When I ordered online the online options did not match their menu. E.G. my choice of sandwich was 52 on menu but it was 50 on the online ordering tool. 3. I called the place 3 times before placing the order and the call was not answered because mail box was full. What gives?? 4. To place a simple order u are required to provide address - why? I was ordering pick up!! 5. There was no option to pay in person. So now I am outside if the restaurant still waiting. Like the most recent reviews this place is in the dumps. Our spring rolls were forgotten about. Besides us, within 30 minutes of our lunch we saw another table say they never got an item after receiving the check, another table had to send back their sandwich because it had cilantro when they had requested none, and my girlfriend was told no thai tea then at the end of lunch we saw a different table get two. They were delivered one at a time. We also had to remind the waiter that we were missing one of our entrees. I'm going to have pass on this place in the future and recommend you do the same. Pho is where my mother and I like to go for lunch to enjoy each other and some Vietnamese food. We have been to many places that aren't much to write home about, PHO however is not one. I enjoy the seafood noodle bowl (pho do bien) and if you enjoy spicy food like myself don't be shy about adding siracha. Ok. I've never had terrible Vietnamese food...until I came here. I was feeling a bit under the weather and my go to has always been pho. Just something about a broth that has been simmering all day paired up with noodles and meat. The disappointment here was beyond any other establishment I've ever visited. I decided to go with bun bo hue instead of my traditional #1. Terrible. The lemongrass was absent. There wasn't any blood...it was an oily mess with incredibly overcooked noodles. The broth was also lukewarm. Nothing was traditional about it and I regretted ordering it. Fail. We also ordered bun ga nuong with shrimp. We didn't feel like pork so went with the chicken option instead. The noodles were chopped up into pieces less than an inch long. What in the world? The chicken was overcooked. The nuoc mam didn't add any flavor to the dish. The only saving grace was that the spring rolls were decent. The noodles were slightly overcooked which made it mushy but the flavors were there. 2 stars and I don't plan on returning. read more

In fact, I really don't bother to get pho anywhere else. My go-to order is the vegetarian pho with egg noodles (V-19), a consistent winner which rich, flavorful broth and very nice vegetables. SERVICE (5.0) Despite having moved out of the area for about a year, the server recognized me and my order preference--impressive! This business cares about its customers. AMBIANCE (4) I think they've improved their music. It's just mainstream pop, but the selection was mellow and didn't interfere with dining. read more

Everything was honestly amazing, except the lucky ramen, it was supposed to be like beef broth base, it tasted just like the seafood broth, which doesn't pair well with the pork belly. I let the waitress (idk if she was a supervisor or manager maybe), and she apologized and took it back. I just ordered another order of spring rolls and all was well, until we got our bill. She charged us both the lucky ramen, and my make up spring rolls. So I brought it up to the same person, and she said the only thing she could do was give me 30% off the food item I didn't eat. Just no. Not at all the same old Target Pho. Freezing inside. We sat and two parties came in together ten minutes after us and were served first. Waitress took our order last--all by numbers so everything was super clear. We watched then as she tried to serve our first appetizer to two other patrons. Then the waitress confirmed our order incorrectly. Then the boss came over to confirm our order. Then the boss served us our second appetizer, which was hard and room temperature. Then the waitress tried to deliver someone else's entree to us. Then the boss served our third appetizer which was burned beyond recognition so we sent it away as he explained they have to burn it to be sure the shrimp inside is cooked all the way. (Uh huh. We went today for takeout for the first time in a while. We mostly went because my husband likes their spring rolls but it was a waste of $35.00. We had The teriyaki chicken with white rice and the #33, grilled pork and shrimp with white rice and both where so dry we couldn't eat it. Neither the chicken or the pork had any flavor. The teriyaki sauce was thin and seemed more like soy sauce straight out of the bottle than teriyaki sauce. The spring rolls were mostly cilantro with 1 small piece of pork. The #33 only had 3 tiny shrimps (not prawns as the menu said) but they were at least eatable. Even the steamed rice was dry and overcooked. Seemed like it was leftover from yesterday. Save your money go somewhere else. There are to many good restaurant options in the area to waste your money and time eating here. read more

There have been several reviews on how good and authentic the Bun Bo Hue is here. Unfortunately, I disagree as it is been tamed (whitewashed) for the Reno palate Reno residents may call themselves gourmands but have no true understanding about Asian food. It's said to see that when residents in Reno eat at a Vietnamese restaurant, they order more off of the chinese menu which has really nothing in common with the cuisine of this country other than the influence of China on the cuisine many centuries ago. I've tried the Bun Bo Hue here and it's not even up to the standards of Bun Bo Hue I've had in the past. When I asked the restaurant where is the following standard ingredients of this soup from Hue Vietnam - Boiled Pork blood cubes (Huyet) - Vietnamese shrimp patties (Cha Hue) - Vietnamese ham (Cha Lua) - Pork Trotters - MInced Banana Blossum, Rau Ra (Vietnamese Mint), and regular Mint as additional garnishes to the shredded Cabbage, Bean Sprouts They said that not enough people order the Bun Bo Hue and all of the above are to strange for the palates in Reno. Why sell a Bun Bo Hue, if you can't make it authentic. If you want Bun Bo Hue that's close, but not as authentic as you would in the Bay Area or Garden Grove (Orange County), eat at Pho 777, Asian Noodle or SK Noodle read more

We came to Pho at around 7, so it was pretty busy because of the dinner rush. Lots of people were taking orders to go, so I think that was the reason why our food took a little while to come out. The waiters were really friendly but I think they were overwhelmed by the amount of customers. My friend said that it's usually pretty fast and they were probably just understaffed tonight. I ordered the Chicken Chow Mein. I liked it but I think there was a little too much sauce on mine, which made it salty. The flavor was good, but there was just a bit too much. The chicken was okay but I think next time I would try a veggie option. My friends got the tofu and it looked really good, so that's probably what I would order. I also recommend coming before dinner time in order to avoid the rush! The portions are really big so I recommend sharing. read more

So today we ordered the egg roll appetizer and got the combination appetizer ( not fond of spring rolls with cilantro or pot sticker) but they were busy so we ate it. Update to my last review: I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with how this place is being kept up-we walked in with about 4 tables uncleaned, a spill on the way to the bathroom, which was absolutely filthy. Granted they must have been short-staffed. Customer service was still okay-I could tell they were trying but some cleaning situations needed attending. Otherwise, food was good as always. I ordered the usual vegetable pho. They got rid of their ramen though :( Golden flower used to be my place to go for pho but I've found my new favorite! Even though this place is far from where I live, I make the trip just because the food is delicious. Not to mention, for all the vegetarians out there, they have a full page vegetarian menu! I always order the tofu spring rolls! I love the peanut sauce! Tve other menu items I've ordered are the vegetable rice noodle soup and the vegetable chow fun. Simply put...delicious! Ordered the small bowl of Steak and Meatball Phó w/vegetables. The broth was so flavorful and everything was perfectly cooked, and for under $8 a bowl. The staff here are amazing, very helpful and knowledge. If you love a good Phó, you have to check out this restaurant. The only issue I had was they were out of bean sprouts and the only reason they missed a star. After all bean sprouts are one of the best parts of Phó.
