This is one of my go2 spots for Pho. It seems like this place has undergone a refresh on the interior. And the food was fresher and better than ever this trip. When it comes to Pho, I evaluate 2 critical elements. 1) the broth: this place has some exceptionally flavorful broth. It will really satisfy those taste buds. 2) the noodles: I don't really enjoy traditional rice noodles. As a result I get the yellow egg noodles with my dish. My favorite dish is the #21. Makes sense at a place called 777! It has some bbq pork and shrimp over noodles with some sweet dressing. On the side you get a small mole of concentrated broth. Decided to try a new Asian food place downtown and I am glad i did! Im not a big fan of Pho, but these places always have a non-soup based dish or a few dozen, so i had to go. Ok, so it was fairly busy around 11am on Saturday. Parking was pure luck, there happened to be a parking space just right outside the front door! I was sat very quickly, given a water and I informed them it was to go. I checked the menu, alot smaller than most Pho places ive gone too, but that doesnt mean anything bad to me. In fact, i think many places have too many options and its ridiculous (looking at you Cheesecake Factory). I went with the Generals Chicken, with fried rice and a side of eggrolls. Damn! The Generals Chicken wasnt standard fare, it had a Chinese 5 Spice or cinnamon flavor and it was mildly spicy as well. So good, but i wasnt expecting it. Now that ive tried it, i will be back for sure! The fried rice was really good, and i know it sounds silly to say so, but cheap fried rice is the worst. This was at least made to order today. The eggrolls were damn good too! Its also located near Mynt, so you might want to stop there first and pick up some marijuana before you come here. A great spot to get your pho! It was a chilly night around 8, the other pho spot that closed in 30 minutes would only do takeouts at that time - we were in the mood of sitting down at a restaurant to enjoy some hot food and found this gem downtown. We both got #1s and a plate of egg rolls to share. The food sure hit the spot! Egg rolls were crunchy, flavorful and piping hot (comes with fresh lettuce, pickled radish/carrot and dipping sauce), and the pho was delicious and warmed up our souls. The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is the location and the ambiance. It's a hole in the wall place in a less-than-stellar part of town that doesn't look very appealing, but the food they serve up is phenomenal. I didn't just stumble upon this place. It was a suggestion from a friend. I honestly wouldn't have come in on my own. But the place was packed. You sit at a table and order (and at the end, you pay up at the cash register. So don't sit around at your table waiting for the check). I order the #6, the Tai Nam, which is a noodle bowl with rare steak and well-done flank. The noodles and meat are served in a comforting broth. The small is anything, but small. It's easily enough for one person. I can't imagine the large for one person! Been here for 32 years and there's a reason. Was recommended by Mike a good friend at finbomb sushi. Pho #1, broth excellent tasty flavors, msg a must here and beefy ness present! Basil, mung bean sprouts, jalapeños and lime plentiful. I like the jalapeños sliced on a long bias and thin. I take raw beef on the side, wrap each with jalapeño, dip some sriracha and hoisin and into hot broth for 3 seconds and eat with big bite of noodles and broth. Delicious. For anyone craving something that is outside of the typical casino food fare, this is for you. For anyone craving a hearty bowl of pho, this is not for you. Pho 777 is located across from Harrah's and offers an oasis from the usual buffets, steakhouses, and cafes that are usually found in casinos. The space is large, so you can expect to be seated without too long of a wait. However, they seem to be a bit short-staffed as it's difficult to flag anyone down for anything once you are seated. It may be the fact that I'm from the Bay Area in California, where pho restaurants are plentiful and always provide a good bang for your buck. I'm so used to having hearty bowls of hot broth filled with rice noodles and meat. And I mean FILLED. Pho 777? Not so much. The price per bowl isn't too bad. It ranges from $7-$9, depending on whether you want a regular or large size. That seems pretty on par with the pricing that I'm used to except... when the bowls came out, the meat and noodles were pretty sparse. Most of what I was eating was onions, green onions, and cilantro. The broth itself was decent -- there was flavor, but definitely lacking a bit. The strangest thing to me about this place is the fact that it took about 20 minutes for our pho to be brought out. In my history of eating pho (and this is a long history), I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for pho to be prepared and served. I'm not sure if it's done on purpose to make it seem like they're putting more effort into the pho than they actually are or if they do actually take 20 minutes to prepare the pho. (I'm leaning towards the former.) In either case, the bottom line is that you may not have to wait long to be seated, but you'll be waiting a while for your food. read more

Please stop raving about how "good" this place makes their pho. Broth was cloudy and not even clear. Soup was bland, I had to add in salt to my bowl. Pho broths are known to be clear and have a savory beefy flavor. The portion size was pretty ok. They added in a lot of beef tendons, rarely briskets, 2 slices of beef round eye, and 1 meatball which was cut in half. Staff here are super friendly. A surprising find in Reno. It was a delicious bowl of pho with flavors that were simple but strong enough to bring out the nostalgia of home cooked meals. The meat was plenty, the noodles were cooked well, and there was plenty of greenery to compliment the bowl. This bowl had flavors more common in Northern Vietnam. Service was average. It was a vietnamese crew so lacked some english understandings, but got our food in a timely manner. I also ordered the spring rolls which were pretty bad. I am docking a point because of this. The peanut sauce was not good, it was more hoisin than peanut and it needs to be a proportionate ratio. Prices were unbelievably manageable! $8-9/bowl! People still making a killing profit on pho, but at least its not the $10-12/bowl I've seen elsewhere. Will be back for sure if I get the chance to visit Reno again. Happy eating. read more

We stopped in for a quick lunch on a Friday with a friend that recommended this place. It is probably not something I would have picked without some encouragement, I don't know much about Pho. Our friend had been to Vietnam and he commented that the pho here is very good. He guided us through the menu and made suggestions. The place is very basic with about 20 tables ranging from 2 to 10 seats. Kind of no frills. The menu includes about 10 different Pho options with various proteins. They also have other items besides Pho including some noodle dishes. There are two sizes of the Pho, small and large. It was very busy but our meals arrived in a timely manner. We chose the shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer which were very good. This was our first experience with spring rolls that were not fried. They are served in rice paper and came with a peanut sauce. We each ordered a Pho dish. The small size Pho was more than adequate for lunch. There was also a plate served that contained fresh basil, bean sprouts and jalapeno to add to the Pho. We also added chili sauce to give it a little kick. Everything was very good. Good food at a decent price. It was a great first experience with Pho and opened up new doors for us. Homeless lying outside the restaurant, but seems to be ok, they do not bother you. It's street parking. Since it's dinner, no need to pay for the meter. They just need to fix the covid precaution. They have sanitizers. The buss boy did a great job in cleaning the tables. Waitstaffs were friendly. The manager or owner though was attending to some visitors in one full table. But at the same time serving attending to us with no mask on and wearing shorts and slippers, while the rest of his crew is wearing pants and mask. Other than that, the place is good! Came to Pho 777 with extended family for the first time. The restaurant is located across from Harrahs. There's plenty of street parking with meters available. However meters are off at 6pm. This place was packed when we came around 6:30pm. And we had to wait about 20 minutes, which was fine. My family went outside and took some touristy pictures during the wait. The 4 things we ordered were as follows: Pho Tai: Typically when ordering pho, I ask for my meat on the side. So when the soup comes out boiling, I quickly put the meat in to cook to avoid overcooked meat upon arrival. To my dismay, my meat BARELY cooked. I pushed it all the way down under the noodles and left it there...and it was still pink 15 minutes later. This is also indicative of the temp of the soup which was warm, not hot. Com Thit Nuong: The grilled pork was decent. However, being health-conscious, I could easily spot a ton of fat on the pork. It tasted okay though. Bun Thit Nuong: Pretty much same as above. Instead of rice, this dish used vermicelli noodles. Mi Xao Mem: This noodle dish came with chicken, shrimp and beef mixed with broccoli and onions. Seasoning was not bad, but not great. It was probably the best of the four dishes we ordered. Note that when we asked whom we believe was the manager which dish was popular that he would recommend for us, he noted that if we're from Bay Area (or just Cali in general), then none of these dishes will be any good. Further, the seasoning and food here are catered to Americans/Hispanics. And we appreciated the brutal honesty. Also, the tray used to bring our food out was dirty. Does not look appetizing when there's liquid and food from who knows when/who. Gross. Will we ever come here again? Probably not. I 100% recommend this place!!!! It was my introduction to Vietnamese food!!! Every since I fell in love with the food. I usually order spring rolls for appetizers. I love how the flavors and the crunchiness comes together in one bit craving for more! Next I order a Thai tea as a refresher. I also order the vegetable pho. I found this place at a very last minute stop into downtown Reno. It's a little hole in the wall spots, so would the heck, usually these hole in the wall spots are amazing. Well, that was not the case. I had the rare steak Pho. The broth did not have a strong beef flavor and the steak was crumbled pieces of meat, not the typical thinly sliced pieces of beef. The food is the best Pho in Reno (or in the US that I've had) not to mention the incredible spring rolls. The servers are the kindest people, especially once you become a regular they start to recognize you and have tasteful jokes. A couple weeks ago I asked "do you have Pepsi" and the waiter said "oh no pepsi is bad for you, would you like a coke?" Very simple very fun.
