Phnom Penh noodle dry small #28
    Carolyn L.

I like the Phnom Penh noodle (dry version) way more than the beef noodle. Both are tasty but maybe not many places have Phnom Penh (or Cambodian) noodle, so I like it better. It is very similar to the bak chor mee (minced pork noodle or Teochew noodle) in Singapore. The difference is in the sauce. But if you are missing the minced meat, shrimp and fish ball in your noodle, this will be the place for it. The soup is also tasty. At the end of the meal, you get a fortune cookie (and a slice of orange during lunch). It was not very busy the few times I dined here. I did notice people do take out more over here. Cash only and there are plenty of signs around the restaurant to remind people of that. I wish they will change the cutlery as the metal soup and chopsticks are just not very easy to eat with.

I live nearby, so this is one of my go-to "don't feel like cooking" places. It's fast, cheap and tasty. The service is always quick and friendly. You're seated and given menus almost immediately. They're quick to take orders and serve food, but you're not at all rushed. The food is not the best Vietnamese I've ever had, but it's pretty good. I recommend adding the satay spice to pho, otherwise it can taste quite plain. The beef and carrot stew is tasty, as is the curry soup. If you're not in the mood for soup, I recommend the vermicelli with grilled meat and spring roll. They started using metal utensils, which I'm not a fan of. They get very hot if you leave them in soup. It's cash only!

Food was tasty and the broth had good flavors. It's just a nice family ran spot. Very fast service and very inexpensive.

I went to this restaurant before the pandemic and was getting ready to go on vacation so didn't want to cook if needed, I ordered the rare steak tendon & tripe with salad rolls with shrimp, I was happy with my choice and would go back

As the city grows, so do the expansion of 'pho' noodles joints. Kingsway is filled with these, and here's another one. It is near metro, and I think it is open either really late, or 24 hours. It is roomy, new, and if your coming late at night there usually is tons of parking right along Kingsway. On this night I had a regular bowl of pho, and one of their salads for a late night dinner. The servings are standard size, the noodles though could use some work. Middle of road in any othe rarea, but near Metrotown, probably one of the better ones if your looking for a 'pho' fix.

I had the most expensive spring rolls in my life here, and they weren't even good. Skin was so thick, so it was really hard to chew. Guessing pho was not their specialty cuz fish cake noodle soup and BBH were both just edible. So much dill in fish noodle soup, it tasted like dill and dill and dill. Other ppl ordered rice, so maybe rice is better

I always loved this place, a lot of my friends live in the metro area and this would be our go to pho place! It has one of the best broths that I've tasted, and the portions are always enough to make you full. Last time I went with my hubsy after we stopped by in the neighborhood. I ordered a BBH instead of my usual special, and he got Spring Rolls on Vermicelli. Just saying, had this been a normal trip I would have rated their pho 4.5/5. The BBH however, is gonna be slightly different. The BBH was eh... Ok at best. Don't get me wrong, the broth was great as usual. My problem was that instead of pig blood and pig hock they simply tossed some sliced Vietnamese ham. Like, really? Not too impressed. Had they put on the correct toppings I would have given it a 4/5 but instead I'm gonna rate it a 3.5/5. It was still delicious but the lack of toppings was bad in my books. The spring rolls were great as usual. Vermicelli gets a solid 4/5, but I usually order mine with the meats haha. Hubs was trying to save money because we dine out too much. Still delicious though. 4/5 overall, mainly because of the pho. Try that before anything else.

There are a number of Vietnamese places close by but so far this newcomer is the best Pho I've found in Metrotown. I've had the rare steak Pho and deep fried spring rolls several times. The Pho is clear and flavorful. Somewhat unusually the Pho and especially the spring rolls are both somewhat spicy (black pepper). Something to be aware of if that's not your kind of thing, you might want to mention when you order. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating to requests. Lemon wedges and bean sprouts to add to your Pho. Orange slices and fortune cookies after your meal. Decor is eclectic, not sure if they specifically designed it that way or just left the walls painted with a sort of Mexican surfer theme from whatever was there before them.

The wonton noodle is so disappointed! None of the wonton is not broken. I have never eaten a wonton noodle as poor as this one. The soup is too sweet.

A most stunning tasting experience, I had here at Phnom Penh in Chinatown…read more PP has been on my radar for some time & I finally made it here. PP has been going strong since 1985 - not an easy achievement in the restaurant industry. PP has that older type restaurant feel inside, but it is very lively as waiters fly by with orders to deliver to tables. Yelpies, order these three items & the say less while you wait for them. Butter Beef (Thinly sliced rare beef) Garlic Wings (heavy on the garlic - FYI) Filet Beef Luc Lac (Tender stir-fried beef) I had a Vietnamese coffee, but it was lame. I've had better elsewhere. The taste of these dishes is orgasmic. I didn't notice nor feel a high sodium content but perhaps maybe a hint of MSG. Regardless, there's a reason why PP has won several awards year after year, including the prestigious - Michelin. Get here ASAP & find out why PP continues to impress foody lovers from everywhere. Warning, this whole area is certified - pure ghetto. Bring your car down here at your own inconvenience. Take transit or uber to get here. Zombies are everywhere. A weird side note - it appears GoDaddy hijacked PPs website. Use IG or Open Table reservations for reference & menu options.

The chicken wings should be called crack wings HIGHLY addictive. The deep-fried squid is prepared the same way as the chicken wings, and the calamari was amazingly tender. The Butter beef was simply fantastic, with flavors that balanced sweetness and saltiness perfectly, topped with delicious accompaniments. I wish the pea shoots had a bit more flavor, but they were cooked just right tender with a satisfying crunch, not overdone. Overall I give this experience 5/5!!

Like other cart noodle places, you get an ordering sheet to build your own soup noodle. You can pick the type of noodle, broth, and 1 to 4 ingredients. It's $1.50 for each extra ingredient. They also have a bunch of HK style appetizers, mostly fried or curry flavor. We tried the fried tofu with fish paste on top, and that was decent. As for the cart noodle, I got the round rice noodles with satay soup, and with pork intestines, curry pork skin and beef meatballs. The soup is quite mild and has a hint of satay flavor, but over time it does soak up the flavor of the ingredients. Out of what I had in my bowl, the curry pork skin was probably the best since they really had the curry flavor cooked into the pork skin. Portion was okay. Considering that was cart noodles, they weren't very quick with the food. Could be because they were busy. Overall, food is solid, but not my favorite cart noodle place in the area. Option to consider for a cheap bowl of customizable noodles.

I also ordered the chicken wings which were crispy and flavorful. The place has lots of parking just outside its doors, quick eats and fast service that certainly satisfies my brothy noodles craving!
