Really lame vegetarian pho -- this is what my review is based on. I stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday after noticing they had a vegetarian pho ($14.50 for a small; $15.50 for a large). It does not come with tofu, so I added some (another $4!) to my small size. The pho came out in less than 10 minutes. The pho came with lots of veggies (lots of broccoli, plus cauliflower, carrot, celery, white onion and green onion), plus lots of rice noodles, and tofu. Of course, the broth is usually what makes or breaks a pho, and this was one of the most low-effort, lamest vegetable broths I've tried in Greater Vancouver (and I've tried over 90 pho places in the Metro area that have veggie pho options). In fact, I saw the woman fill up my pho bowl from the hot water dispenser. So, they don't even bother to have a proper veggie broth; they just base the broth on hot water, with maybe some salt and possibly some other spices? The broth tasted like barely salted water. Super lame. Embarrassing product to serve. The value is bad given the very lame quality. I like that they have a veggie pho option. The portion is big and you get lots of vegetables, though the lack of tofu is definitely a thumbs down given the already above average price for the pho. All in all, don't come here for veggie pho. 2 stars is very generous. read more

Was in the area and was hungry so my friend and I decided to give this place a try. The server was friendly and the food was decent. I tried the dry noodle and really enjoyed it. The side soup was tasty and the dry noodles were decent. I only ordered a small but it was enough food. My friend had the beef stew with noodles and said it was very good too. After the meal, we got fortune cookies and candy. I think I'll be back here again to try some of their other dishes. read more

I like the Phnom Penh noodle (dry version) way more than the beef noodle. Both are tasty but maybe not many places have Phnom Penh (or Cambodian) noodle, so I like it better. It is very similar to the bak chor mee (minced pork noodle or Teochew noodle) in Singapore. The difference is in the sauce. But if you are missing the minced meat, shrimp and fish ball in your noodle, this will be the place for it. The soup is also tasty. At the end of the meal, you get a fortune cookie (and a slice of orange during lunch). It was not very busy the few times I dined here. I did notice people do take out more over here. Cash only and there are plenty of signs around the restaurant to remind people of that. I wish they will change the cutlery as the metal soup and chopsticks are just not very easy to eat with. read more

I live nearby, so this is one of my go-to "don't feel like cooking" places. It's fast, cheap and tasty. The service is always quick and friendly. You're seated and given menus almost immediately. They're quick to take orders and serve food, but you're not at all rushed. The food is not the best Vietnamese I've ever had, but it's pretty good. I recommend adding the satay spice to pho, otherwise it can taste quite plain. The beef and carrot stew is tasty, as is the curry soup. If you're not in the mood for soup, I recommend the vermicelli with grilled meat and spring roll. They started using metal utensils, which I'm not a fan of. They get very hot if you leave them in soup. It's cash only! read more

As the city grows, so do the expansion of 'pho' noodles joints. Kingsway is filled with these, and here's another one. It is near metro, and I think it is open either really late, or 24 hours. It is roomy, new, and if your coming late at night there usually is tons of parking right along Kingsway. On this night I had a regular bowl of pho, and one of their salads for a late night dinner. The servings are standard size, the noodles though could use some work. Middle of road in any othe rarea, but near Metrotown, probably one of the better ones if your looking for a 'pho' fix. read more

I have 1 check in here. And it will most probably be my last. I dont think I've ever known the difference between good pho and bad pho up until the moment i tasted the soup at Pho 24. Everything was just completely and utterly wrong from all possible dimensions of my experience 1. the broth: WHERE was the goddamn flavour?! I had to add about half the bottle of hoisin and sriracha to make it taste like anything 2. I ordered the RARE beef.... it came rubbery and overcooked. Fail. 3. Portion of the noodles were half-assed. If you wanted to look like you were trying to cheap out, you succeeded at that. 4. The spring rolls: cold. and flavorless of course. Surprise, surprise My only thought was to finish my food, tip the minimum percent, escape outta there and never come back. If you know what's good for you, don't come here if you're expecting at least a half decent bowl of Pho. read more

I always loved this place, a lot of my friends live in the metro area and this would be our go to pho place! It has one of the best broths that I've tasted, and the portions are always enough to make you full. Last time I went with my hubsy after we stopped by in the neighborhood. I ordered a BBH instead of my usual special, and he got Spring Rolls on Vermicelli. Just saying, had this been a normal trip I would have rated their pho 4.5/5. The BBH however, is gonna be slightly different. The BBH was eh... Ok at best. Don't get me wrong, the broth was great as usual. My problem was that instead of pig blood and pig hock they simply tossed some sliced Vietnamese ham. Like, really? Not too impressed. Had they put on the correct toppings I would have given it a 4/5 but instead I'm gonna rate it a 3.5/5. It was still delicious but the lack of toppings was bad in my books. The spring rolls were great as usual. Vermicelli gets a solid 4/5, but I usually order mine with the meats haha. Hubs was trying to save money because we dine out too much. Still delicious though. 4/5 overall, mainly because of the pho. Try that before anything else. read more

There are a number of Vietnamese places close by but so far this newcomer is the best Pho I've found in Metrotown. I've had the rare steak Pho and deep fried spring rolls several times. The Pho is clear and flavorful. Somewhat unusually the Pho and especially the spring rolls are both somewhat spicy (black pepper). Something to be aware of if that's not your kind of thing, you might want to mention when you order. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating to requests. Lemon wedges and bean sprouts to add to your Pho. Orange slices and fortune cookies after your meal. Decor is eclectic, not sure if they specifically designed it that way or just left the walls painted with a sort of Mexican surfer theme from whatever was there before them. read more

The food taste great but I think they use way too much MSG in their sauce or in the food because I broke out in hives which only happens when I am exposed to excessive amounts of MSG. I was also hungry again not long after, which is horrible when I'm ill from hives. read more

My friend and I ordered a small and we are usually really full afterwards. We don't eat much But at this place even after dinner we were both still straving which is unlike us. We had to go get some dessert after. There wasn't much meat or noodles. The only nice thing is that the staff was friendly and pretty attentive. Its a competitive scene in metro Vancouver for pho. Below average pho and forgettable. Uncomfortable and cramp place to eat. This place lacks passion. *Terrible ventilation. Unbearable odor and by far the strongest Ive ever encountered at a pho restaurant. By the time I'm done eating I would smell like the back alley restaurant trash bin. This is my 2nd time here. It's more of a hole-in-the-wall so don't expect too much in terms of ambience. I thought I would order something other than the usual pho, so I got the #24 which was the Phonm Penh noodle soup. I like the flavor. It's got lots of green onions, fried shallots, vietnamese ham and 2 shrimps. I also like their hot chilli sauce which had some elements of lemongrass. Too bad I only saw this towards the end of the meal as it's not on the table, but on the counter. Portion-wise, it's really good. I only ordered the small, yet I'm so full. Noodles were good and not overcooked. My main reason for coming here is because I'm in a time crunch and it's just a block from where I work. This place serves food fast! I've never been to a Vietnamese Pho restaurant that doesn't have any Vietnamese writing in their menu. This place seems to be owned by the Chinese. Service was good, and pho was decently priced. However, taste was very bland. I typically finish all my food but I couldn't do so with this place. I had to use nearly two tablespoons of hoisin sauce but that did not fix the overwhelming taste of ginger in the broth. Definitely not going back for the food. read more

Pho 24 Express: An unfortunate decline in quality. I'm not entirely sure if what I ate should even be considered 'pho'. I've been a regular customer for a little over a year because I knew that I was able to count on good pho with great portions upon every visit. I was sadly disappointed the other night when what I was served was something even I can whip up in a snap. My broth wasn't the same broth I remembered it to be. It used to be robust and flavourful. Rather, it tasted like instant soup base that you can find in a cheap Chinese wonton house. My noodles were no longer the conventional rice flour noodles that everyone craves. Instead, the noodles resembled vermicelli of a thicker variety. I'm hoping this place will improve its quality. My intention when I eat out is to avoid the consumption of something I can have at home. For the time being, I'll avoid Pho 24 Express and dine at other places that serve a more genuine bowl of pho. read more

You know what? I really like this place. Despite the odd decor. And service has been friendlier of late with female staff serving on my last few visits. Just a little warning....more like an observation it's a Vietnamese Pho restaurant. The problem with this is that the food didn't taste Vietnamese but had more of a Chinese flare to it. First thing I noticed when I walked into this place was that the floors were very slippery. Not really in a just cleaned slippery kind of way, more like a greasy slippery, hasn't been cleaned in a really long time kind of way. I literally almost fell on my face traversing this restaurant to get to the table where my friends were sitting. Second thing, I learned about my self. I realize I need to really read the menu's before I order anything. I thought I had ordered a basic beef and pork pho noodles bowl, but It was actually spicy. I was a little surprised when It came, but it was my fault as I didn't really read the whole description. All I saw was beef and pork and that sold me LOL. I'm not sure if this has happened to me before because I can't remember a time where I had ordered something and was surprised by what actually arrived. It tasted ok, was kind of greasy like the floors. But when It comes to pho, I usually like the plain soup base because the spicy kind just over powers all other tastes. I came here for the first time with my partner late at night when we had a pho craving. Seating was immediate as it was quiet and we got our food promptly. The pho was okay... the broth lacked in flavour and they don't use typical cutlery here that you would find at a pho restaurant. It was a bit of a pain to eat with thin metal chopsticks and small spoons. It seemed like the staff were all hanging out at the front too, which was fine, but they were just sitting there at a table speaking loudly and watching us eat. As somebody who frequents the many pho restaurants around Vancouver, this place is definitely one of the good ones. Between my two friends and me, we had three different noodle soups, the bun bo hue, the phnom penh, and the original soup bases. All three soup bases were not like your typical broths that you get at some places (i.e 24/7 places). The phnom penh soup was delicious and full of flavour. The bun bo hue soup is the same as the original soup base but with the added spice to it. We also ordered their vietnamese deep fried spring rolls. Although the filling was good, nothing was spectacular about it. In fact, the choice of their rice wrap made it hard to chew through the spring roll. Don't fall for it. This place is not 24 hours but they are open late. My boyfriend and I usually come here for late night munchies. The soup used in their pho is delicious! On the other hand, their "lemon grass" dishes don't actually have lemon grass on them.. Service is not always great and "ice water" has been warm every time I've been there. Nice enough place. Good food, cheap prices, and it's open late -- although not 24 hours, despite the name. It's a cash-only restaurant, but that seems to be the case for every Pho place in Vancouver so I don't hold that against them. The decorations are a bit weird though. I think the place used to be a surf-style diner or something, so the walls are still painted with murals of surf boards and beaches. Don't get me wrong: It looks nice, it's just odd. read more
