Seems like a popular spot. My lunch date had been before. My first visit. We both ordered Pho. The service could be more attentive. We were given water when we arrived, and no refill offered until we asked for the bill. You pay at the back so the bill isn't brought to your table. The Pho was OK. Nothing outstanding either good or bad. It was all OK. The area has a lot of restaurants and this place hasn't done its part to stand out.

24 hours bubble tea and pho and chicken + looooota napkins = where have you been my whole life oh and the pho is sooooo good, it hugged my soul. I got the chicken noodle soup pho and my body thanked me. I felt like my soul and the pho became 1. Like it entered my soul. And just gave me the biggest hug ever. It healed all childhood trauma ever. This is exactly what my soul needed at 3am on a Friday night. Thank you pho hong Vietnamese restaurant. You have earned yourself a very loyal customer. Prepared to be sick of me to the point where I'll be coming and saying "I'll get the usual please!" Ok 10q

We came here for early dinner based on our local friend's recommendation. The exterior looked dated but the interior was spacious and new. We ordered beef brisket pho and spring roll. Food came quickly. Portions of noddles were good with plenty of meat and the broth was hot. Unfortunately we felt the taste of the broth, the textures of both meat and noodles were all somewhat blend. Being from California with a high concentration of Vietnamese population and abundant pho restaurants, we have tasted better.

Garlic chicken wings. Good, but not garlicky. The spring rolls were forgettable.

This place is the typical neighborhood pho restaurant. A simple setting and standard menu with mostly reasonable prices. (The $4.75 Vietnamese coffee served over a short mug, definitely needed more condensed milk, for that price) The pho broth was ok, but my 'steak and brisket' order didn't have any brisket. The spring rolls were forgettable, but the fried garlic chicken wings were good even though it was lacking in garlic flavour. I liked the generous parking lot, and the large dining area meant there was room to spread out. But don't sit near the customer counter. A constant stream of food delivery guys made for a chaotic atmosphere and lack of distancing.

Am I being pranked? I ordered the chicken pho to go and got a mouth full of oil when I tried the broth - it didn't even have any flavor. Just pure oil.. And I'm not talking a little bit of oil - it literally seems like they were cleaning out a deep fryer and just put it in a pho bowl and labelled it chicken pho. On top of that, THERE WAS A HAIR IN IT. I wish I could post a video to show the severity of this. Absolutely unacceptable. DO NOT eat here. I don't even know how something like this would happen. UPDATE: I put it in the fridge overnight and it turned into a literal PUCK OF OIL!!

Rice with grilled porks: $12.50

Price: ~$13/ person average price Food: 7.5/10 great portion but lack of flavour Service: 9/10 helpful and welcoming staffs Space: 9/10 clean and comfortable place Orders: Rice with grilled pork: $12.50 Thinly sliced pork, nicely seasoned, but too dry. The cooked rice is not similar, some part is slightly dry and some part is barely soggy. Fish sauce served with full sweet and sour salty flavour pushes satisfactorily with the rice. Pickles are made from carrots, radishes to enhance the flavour of the plate. Also, there is a bowl of hot soup to serve, but I think it's pho broth. Rice with chicken lemongrass: $12.50 The rice part also had a similar problem. However, the chicken is marinated very nicely. The meat is delicious, soft, and not dry with incredibly strong lemongrass flavoured. Having dried onions on top makes the chicken even tastier. ( Must try ) Bun bo Hue: $11 The main ingredients are vermicelli, beef, beef ball, pork ball, and a distinctive red broth. The beef is tender and delicious. Other ingredients to eat are also soft and abundantu. However, the broth is not very rich, less lemongrass, lacking the special flavour of the dish.

The Pho was a bland, portion size was good, price for 2 bowls of Pho came to $34.13 taxes in OUCH! we went during lunch hour and the place was half empty. Service was not very good and the atmosphere was nothing to write home about. Sadly I can't recomend this place and wont be going back.

Yesterday, May 28, 2019, we were in the mood for some Vietnamese food. Decided upon Pho Hong on Kingsway, Burnaby. Haven't been there for over a couple of decades but had good memories of the food. We arrived well before noon to avoid the lunch crowd. We didn't had to worry since it never materialized. The server showed us to our table and she actually gave us two menus, one each. A good start. The tea and eating utensils arrived promptly. Another good sign. The server who took our order must be true believer of silence is golden. While waiting for our food we examined the bowls and spoons. One of the spoons had a fair size chip. Our food arrived without delay. The bean sprouts, however, were dull and almost brown looking. We skipped it. The soup noodle didn't seemed right. We then realized it doesn't have the familiar Vietnamese noodle soup aroma. The grilled chicken over rice noodle was tasteless also. Overall it was a very disappointing experience. A return visit is out of the question.

This is a Pho place that I go every so often to satisfy Pho cravings. The standards have remained the same for the past few years. Inside, the place remains to be cozy but not up to date. The appearance is more home-styled than upscale fancy styled. This gives insight into the style of food that they serve and the service they provide. Because there are only a few waiters, the time to order is sometimes slower than expected. Nonetheless, the menu is streamlined and easy to order. The food that comes out is above average. It is always hot and freshly made. The broth is not too clear but better than average. The taste of the broth is strong but not overpowering. I ordered number 3 which is the beef balls with slices of beef. Beef balls were fresh and bouncy, an indication that they were freshly made. The slices of beef were decent sized but a bit more would be preferable. The pho noodles were abundant and expected for the price. However, the noodles were of good quality. Altogether, the food and service is quite home-styled. Don't expect fancy boogie Pho but know for sure that it will fill your heart and cravings with warm goodness.

I think it was better in the 1990s and it used to be our go-to place for late night pho. Fast forward to now, the place is updated but the quality has dropped. The pho I had was so-so and I doubt I will be back anytime soon. The service is typical perfunctory. If you are in the area and want something hot and soupy, then this will be the place to go, but I will not go out of my way to dine here.

I went to have my routine car maintainance that day and since im hungry and this place is just near i went to have my late lunch...this wasnt my first in this place actually my 4th time already...... Big place with own parking lot, decoration is still thesame sad and very dull,no Tv and no wifi but surprisingly a lot of people coming in....mostly asians....theres a big boquet of artificial flower by the cashier and it collected so much dust.... Service is poor actually one of the server has attitude....not very friendly and that day she is in a RUSH...she just gave me the menu and not even a minute she is asking me if im ready to order,,,,hot tea came in so late not like other resto tea will be serve right away...she didnt even ask me if i want water and after i placed my order she grabbed the menu and just threw it in tthe chair infront of me...i wanted to react right away but i stopped my self for being rude just like her I ordered beef soup and 2 spring rolls....i told this bitchy server i want the meat well done...i got rare and just 1 pc of spring roll...still i didnt say anything...... In total i had a very unpleasant experience that day plus the roll i had was almost cold.....with that kind of service i would say that i will never again come to this place..... Poor service and now i know why its not so expensive well...because the food you get is just as good as what you are paying.....i wasted my time and money.....my previous experiences in this place wasnt as bad as this.......

Around this part of the city, there really aren't too many options out here later at night (other than possibly The One). This place has been around since 1994 or so, but honestly, they need to step up their game. Parking is available along the side of the building (tiny gravel lot). The interior is covered in this maroon wallpaper - it honestly looks like someone's bedroom, especially with those curtains. Almost makes one wonder if the staff sleep on the tables at night. If you're feeling really frisky, you can try ordering, and having them serve you at the picnic benches outside. I will admit I am tempted to do this at some point. The place seems to be family run. Nothing wrong with that. The food here was honestly mediocre at best. Dare I say it, it tastes quite a bit like Pho Hoa, the dreaded chain. Yes the food is home-made, but honestly I felt my stomach turn a bit while eating the soup - there was simply something off. I didn't have to make a beeline for the washroom though. I could've sworn the food here was better many many years ago. At this point, unfortunately I have trouble recommending the place.

It seems like Pho Hong Vietnamese Restaurant has existed for years. The exterior isn't much to look at... it actually reminds me of an old house (complete will bars on the windows). It's been a number of years since I last visited this place. From what I remembered, service was spotty at best here and my visit in late February confirmed that things haven't really changed much over the years. To be fair, service appeared a bit friendlier for regular patrons and it depended on who was serving you. The interior is laid out in a utilitarian manner with a combination of tables and booths set up in a grid pattern that takes up the entire room. Off the entrance is a small cashier area where you go to pay (cash or debit only). The restaurant filled up by noon so it's still popular with many people. On my first revisit, I ordered the Bun Bo Hue ($9 for large) which contained beef, Vietnamese ham, and chicken balls. There was plenty of thinly cut beef (which wasn't too tender) as well as tender, thick, round rice vermicelli noodles. On a subsequent revisit, I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong, Cha Gio ($11.95). This is a popular dish consisting of grilled lemongrass pork with rice vermicelli and deep-fried spring roll. I had a different waitress on this visit and service was a bit better. This was a very large bowl and was quite filling. They don't use rice paper wrapper in their spring rolls (which was a bit of a disappointment to me) but it wasn't too bad and was freshly fried with a tightly packed filling. I found that the grilled pork, which had some fatty bits in it, was just okay and had a bit of char to some of the pieces. The fish sauce lacks flavour but this is a filling dish if you're looking for something to satisfy your hunger. On my subsequent revisit, I ordered the Lemongrass Chicken with Rice ($10.50) which turned out better than the lemongrass pork. Too bad it didn't come with a spring roll. The chicken had a nice char on it but the meat tended to be on the dry side. Don't even bother with the tomato because that really wasn't very good. Like all of my other meals here, the portion size is very generous. Overall, the food here is fairly average in terms of Vietnamese food with more focus put on giving you large serving sizes instead of flavour. The soup noodles come out very quick but the grilled items take a bit longer to come out.

I searched for Vietnamese cafe and I found this place. They have pretty good reviews. I went there with my wife and we ordered grilled half pork and half chicken on rice and pho. This foods didn't disappointed us. I was surprised the broth of the pho was gracefully rich and tasty. The beef balls had natural beef taste. The grilled pork and chicken were having a nice smoked flavour but not burnt. Well done! The owner was there serving the customers and he is friendly and welcoming. At one moment the sunlight came in from the window he immediately went to pull down the bind so the customers won't get the sunlight directly into their eyes. He kept serving tea and refilled frequently. I'm happy with their service. In terms of foods and service quality, this is a place I will definitely return.

Seating can be a bit tight. Staff are friendly. No complaints. The pho is pretty decent. Beef slices and beef balls are decent. Served in clear broth with onions and cilantro. The bean sprouts are buried at the bottom of the bowl, not served on top. Not sure if this means the volume of food is reduced. Overall quality is decent. The other dishes here look pretty good too. Guess I'm coming back at some point.

The potion for the large bowl is HUGE. I almost finished (but that's another story!). The bowl of noodle soup came to the table steaming which I loved. I had the #1 House Special (Rice Noodle Soup With Rare Steak, Brisket, Fatty Flank, Tendon, Tripe and Beef) and my friend had the Vermicelli Noodle bowl of Lemon Grass Chicken with Minced Pork-the chicken was moist and tender and enjoyed a lot. Really lame vegetarian pho -- this is what my review is based on…read more I stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday after noticing they had a vegetarian pho ($14.50 for a small; $15.50 for a large). It does not come with tofu, so I added some (another $4!) to my small size. The pho came out in less than 10 minutes. The pho came with lots of veggies (lots of broccoli, plus cauliflower, carrot, celery, white onion and green onion), plus lots of rice noodles, and tofu. Of course, the broth is usually what makes or breaks a pho, and this was one of the most low-effort, lamest vegetable broths I've tried in Greater Vancouver (and I've tried over 90 pho places in the Metro area that have veggie pho options). In fact, I saw the woman fill up my pho bowl from the hot water dispenser. So, they don't even bother to have a proper veggie broth; they just base the broth on hot water, with maybe some salt and possibly some other spices? The broth tasted like barely salted water. Super lame. Embarrassing product to serve. The value is bad given the very lame quality. I like that they have a veggie pho option. The portion is big and you get lots of vegetables, though the lack of tofu is definitely a thumbs down given the already above average price for the pho. All in all, don't come here for veggie pho. 2 stars is very generous.
