This is the best pho I have had anywhere. This place is extremely clean with a very welcoming atmosphere. All of the staff was very friendly. You order your food at the front first, grab a number and they bring it to your table, and then you pay for everything on the way out. I ordered the spring rolls, a thai iced tea, and a side of oxtail. The side of oxtail was like a complete bowl of beef/oxtail soup. It was hands down the best broth and oxtail I've ever had. I tried my friend's medium rare brisket pho and will be sure to include this in my order next time. All of the sides that they brought such as mint, sprouts etc. were very fresh. I've always heard that Vietnamese food in the OC is next level - so I had to venture down here to find out for myself. We got the pho tai with rare beef and pho with oxtail bowl on the side.. and WOW. After sipping on this broth, I came to the realization that I've been having mediocre pho my whole life, and that THIS WAS IT. It felt like an out of body experience because not only was the pho insanely rich with spices and beefy flavor, the noodles had a slightly bouncy texture and not overcooked... and the $6 oxtail bowl on the side! I don't think I can even get this amount of oxtail at Costco for this price. It was so fatty and delicious. I felt like an absolute glutton eating this amount of oxtail since every single place that offers oxtail is so stingy with the portions. I don't think I've ever raved so hard about pho lol but this was the bomb. Establishment seems on the newer side and bathrooms were clean! Parking lot wasn't great - small and a dead end so you'll have to wait for people to get done with their food to snag a spot. I love Pho 101! They are the sister restaurant to Pho 79. I think both locations have great oxtail pho and crispy fried chicken. The oxtail is sold until they sell out. The service is great! They are fast and friendly. I usually eat at the restaurant but the last time I visited, I ordered take out. The food was packed nice and neatly and the food still tasted great and I drove from Huntington Beach all the way to my boyfriend's house in West Covina. The restaurant is great for large groups. Walked in and got seated with a less than 5 minute wait on a Sunday afternoon. The server got our drink orders almost right away and the food order about 5 minutes after. The menu has a wide selection of Vietnamese food, but we came for the pho. I ordered a pho bowl with brisket and chicken. The soup is almost reminiscent of homemade, Vietnamese pho (oily, salty, flavorful) which is completely different from other more Americanized pho places that have "cleaner" bowls. This place feels more authentic in that way. It was relatively busy when we walked in. Service was quick to seat and serve us, but not quick to close us out or check on us throughout the dining experience. Regardless, food was still good (literally took photos after demolishing the bowls because they smelled so good, we dug in without thinking). Came here because I read that this is a sister store to my favorite pho spot, Pho 79. The soup here tastes exactly the same to me! Came here on a Saturday afternoon, place was busy but we were seated promptly. I really like that you can pick and choose with proteins you want here. My go to is usually pho tai nam (thinly sliced beef and brisket), but I was able to add tripe and beef balls to my bowl at no extra charge. Prices here are comparable to Pho 79 as well. Nope, not all pho is made the same. I can't believe I've eating the other crap thinking that's how pho tastes like. I went to Pho 79 based on all the raving reviews, but it was crazy busy and management directed us to their other location, Pho 101. They offer 2 bowl sizes and you can order up to 4 types of meat. The medium size was more than enough for me. Very generous with the noodles and meats. All the vegetables are fresh and the broth is AH-mazing! Went back in the same week to order to-go and decided to grab an order of egg rolls. Kind of pricey for 3, however they give you a lot of veggies and the fish sauce is on point. The rolls were delicious! Highly recommend as an appetizer! The parking here is better than at Pho 79, but can get crowded during busy hours. They take credit cards for orders over $10, which is nice if you don't have cash. Update on the to-go order- It's not as good compared to having it fresh at the restaurant, however still hits the spot. I can't emphasize the amount of toppings they give you along with the noodles! This is the only pho place we dine at. Growing up, I loved Pho 79, especially when they had kids' meals. Since Pho 101 opened, we've been coming here, and whenever I introduce my Vietnamese family to it, it becomes their favorite. The large bowl is generous in size, perfect if you want more meat. I usually opt for the tendon and brisket, and occasionally the rare steak and tripe. The tendon here is unparalleled--large, soft, and melting in your mouth. The broth was dark that was why it was flavorful, it had enough spices, maybe some anise too, most places no longer use anise, in fact most places just use very little bone, dump gallons of can broth in, this broth is oily, I like it, in VN and Paris, broths are oily, it has to be to have some taste or else it's just hot water. I like their oxtail but I did not order that today. I ordered the combo, I asked what was in it, the lady told me everything, brisket, rare beef, tendons and meat balls, etc..well the meatballs were missing, it so happened i wanted some badly! There is a ton of seating, both indoor and outdoor. Located across the street from Bella Terra, this place is located in the same plaza as Life Storage. They make ordering pho here super simple and easy. Instead of listing every possible pho bowl, you just tell them what you want in your bowl. For one price, you can choose up to 4 items. Right off the 405 so perfect to hit up on the way if you're on the hwy. Very fast and friendly service, they order right at the table so as soon as you order it's sent to the kitchen. Their brisket is more tender than most places. Service is friendly and quick, they don't really check up on you unless you wave them down. Their house made chili oil is bomb and decor is modern. Plenty of parking but be sure to not park in front of the storage place or you'll be towed. Only one way in and one way out. We actually came to this Pho restaurant because the one we originally wanted to go to was closed. Upon entering, the feel of the restuarant is young, hip, and kind of modern. Better looking than most Pho restaurants. What I liked about this place specifically was that the menu is very customizable. You can choose your noodle size, the meats, and toppings, etc. Most of the family got pho, but I wanted something light and refreshing so I opted for the bun cha gio and a Vietnamese coffee since we had a flight home and I was tired. The restaurant is located in a small plaza off the 405 freeway and there's not much parking if you go during prime lunch time. The decor inside is much more updated and modern compared to Pho 79. There's plenty of tables located inside, but if you go during lunch time, be prepared to wait. The portions are huge! They allow you to select up to 4 different kinds of meat for your pho. However, when you come here, you have to get a side of the Oxtail. That's what they're famous for! The oxtail is so fatty and so tender that it just melts off the bone. It comes in a separate bowl with your side of pho and can be easily split between two people. The pho broth is very rich and flavorful. The staff is so polite and seated us immediately in the perfect table to accommodate my service dog! Nothing beats homemade pho but this is quick and convenient. I give it four stars because I am still looking for the best tasting pho from a restaurant but so far this is my fav! I usually get a Medium Pho Tai Nam (Vietnamese Noodle Soup, Rare Beef and Beef Flank) with thick noodles. If you get takeout, the rare beef comes uncooked but it's easy to cook on the stove in the broth!! It comes with greens, bean sprouts and nuoc tuong (hoisin sauce) on the side. I usually like asking for boiled bean sprouts and add it to my bowl, so good! I've eaten there before and there wasn't a wait when I went but always good to call in ahead to find out wait times. The food also came with a generous amount of veggies to add in. They also bring you hoisin and Sriracha in a small plate versus bottles on the table. This is a great place to get pho at. There was not much of a wait to get seated or get my food. You can order any custom pho bowl in a Medium or Large size and choose up to four proteins. I opted to get a medium bowl with three proteins which were the meatball, rare, and well cooked brisket. The broth was very flavorful and the portion size was very filling. There was a good amount of meat given however I would've loved to have some more meatballs. I also ordered a cup of iced coffee with condensed milk and it was also really good with just the right amount of sweetness and bitterness.
