    Phnom Penh Chicken Wings (Small)
    Tracy N.

Came here around 4:30pm on a Sunday and got super lucky with little to no wait. My friend tried to go another time and was told the wait would be 2 hrs so def be prepared for that if you're going at peak lunch/dinner time. We split what seemed like the two most popular dishes between two people and thought it was a good amount but we weren't super full or anything Marinated butter beef: 5/5 this was my first time trying this dish and I was a big fan. I like the sauce a lot and the texture of the beef was great too Fried chicken wings (regular): 5/5 I like that the batter on this wasn't too thick which I think helped make it super crispy

Portions here are HUGE. My favorite is for sure the marinated butter beef. The other food is good as well, but not as outstanding as that. Another notable mention is the chicken wings. Fried perfectly with nice amount of seasoning. Service is super quick even for our large table of 7.

It's ok? Coming from California... Marinated butter beef 7/10 - really like the sauce and marinade it came with - very refreshing, savory, sweet and a lil salty - beef was not the most "buttery" - if you're scared of raw meat, this dish doesn't give that "raw" taste which was surprisingly nice Beef luc lac with egg 8/10 - sweet soy saucy flavor - very reminiscent of what my mom used to make at home - beef was tender - very good portion - egg is crispy and runny (perfection!) Fried chicken wings 9/10 - more like sugar and pepper dusted - the lemon pepper dip was underwhelming, could've done without it but was ok to have as well - chicken is juicy and crispy, very well fried - forgot to take pic on my phone - was my favorite dish Phnom Penh two kinds of noodle in soup 6/10 - flavors are not there for a Cambodian noodle soup - very light broth which is nice on its own but not in this dish - toppings are ok, no complaints - no chili on the table so you have to ask but all of the chili oil and sauces are NOT spicy :( and did not add much to the dish as well - can find this elsewhere Overall, service was ok. Nothing special. The restaurant was practically empty so there was no wait on a Friday night. If you're traveling from a place with lots of Asian food, this restaurant may not impress you and probably is not worth that trip. This would be good if you're a local but not worth to go out of the way for.

The Phnom Penh Chicken Wings will make you grovel because it's so good

The moment the aroma from their fried chicken wings hits your nose you start to realize why this place always has a line and how every list has Phnom Penh as a place you cannot miss in Vancouver. Even with skepticism, this place reaches the highs it so quietly can brag about. From first bite to last, it's hard not to smile with each bite. Let's start with the most obvious dish: the deep fried chicken wings are incredible. Similar to a salt and pepper chicken wing you can find at any great Chinese restaurant, the savory flavors enrapture you from smell to taste. A generous portion is given but if you end up finishing it yourself no one will be able to blame you considering how tasty these wings are. The Marinated Butter Beef isn't made with butter but with how tender and juicy as it is you'd think it was. Similar to a delicious carpaccio the thin slices mixed with the savory sauce and herbs leave a fresh taste on the palate, not something you can say often with beef. Filet Beef Luc Lac on Rice with Egg was a fantastic mixture of sweet and savory. It reminds me of a Cambodian version of bulgogi, I enjoyed having this mix of flavors and the vehicle of rice to carry it all home was enjoyable. The Green Papaya Salad was a great example of how generous the dishes are here. A plate full of julienne papaya in a light sauce and served with shrimp and a beef jerky makes this a burst of freshness. Highly enjoyable and a great start and palate cleanser. Phnom Penh Hot and Sour Soup with Fish is so tasty. I didn't think I'd enjoy this but it was a soup filled with different flavors and soft textures. Very comforting on rainy cold days and perfect for sharing. If you're looking for exceptional food that will always be a conversation starter when looking back at the meal, try Phnom Penh. No regrets.

Came here for dinner with the family. Wait was about 45 mins. Not too bad but better to try and get on the waitlist beforehand. Everyone was super nice but service was a little off. Had to ask several times for the soda we ordered and they kept trying to bring us items we did order. Food was delicious We started with the marinated butter beef. Omg. Beyond amazing. Chicken wings... so addicting. The seasoning is ridiculously delicious. Lemon pepper dip nothing more than lemon juice with pepper. Not needed I ordered the chicken curry. So much chicken. Just the right amount of spice. It was super tasty but the so many bones and bone bits. My bf and sil had the beef luc luc with an egg on rice. They loved it. I tried it. Was good. My bil had the stew beef soup. He said it was delicious. I'd definitely eat here again. So yum.

Came for lunch on a Saturday. If you get in line right before opening at 11am, you can get a spot for the first seating. We got the usual chicken wings, butter beef, beef luclac and the oyster pancake. Everything was as per usual, tasted not bad. Butter beef balance was a bit off during this visit. Chicken wings are just as addicting. The beef luclac wasn't my favourite as it lacked a bit of flavour. The oyster pancake was crispy and had quite a bit of oyster. Service - fast and efficient. Atmosphere - popping but could still hear each other well

We read so many reviews about this place and had to check it out while visiting Vancouver. There is always a long line so be prepared to wait no matter what time you arrive. The staff is excellent though and really tries to get people served quickly. Despite being packed, the staff navigates well to make sure the food is hot, freshly prepared, and served without losing quality. We of course had to get the butter beef (which is really the main attraction) and the fried chicken wings. Both were amazing as advertised. The beef was tender and served with salty and umami packed sauce. The chicken wings were jumbo sized and crispy from being freshly fried. Make sure to bring a friend because these are pretty decent sized appetizers. We also ordered the noodle platter with pork sausage, shrimp ball, and egg rolls. These came be wrapped and eaten together or enjoyed eaten separately dipped with fish sauce. Everything was excellent as expected. Only other thing to be prepared for is the limited parking so give yourself plenty of time and plan ahead.

Maybe I went in with really high expectations because this place is so hyped. We ordered the fried rice, dry egg noodle, and chicken wings. The dry egg noodle was meaty and came with soup -- the pork bone soup was actually really good and probably the highlight of the meal. However, the dry egg noodles themselves tasted a bit bitter and lacked flavor. The fried rice was pretty bland; it definitely needed salt or more seasoning. The chicken wings were okay, but nothing outstanding. That said, the price point is good and the service was great, which I appreciated. Overall, not bad, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. But I would come back to try other dishes !

A small and quaint restaurant situated in Chinatown is your typical family-run business in the MICHELIN Guide. We were able to reserve a table for the 6 of us a week in advance. They charged an 18% tip for reserving; which is a normal tip nowadays anyway. The food and service were quick and in the middle of dinner, they even changed clean plates for us which was a nice service to receive. The food is very authentic and tasty. This is one of our go-to places for Vietnamese and Cambodian food.

PRO TIP: If you're planning on visiting during opening, I would be there 10/15 minutes before doors open- my family and I came right at 11 and there was already a line. We ended up having to wait 1.45 hours. If possible, I would make a reservation the day before. We ordered the following: Beef Luc Lac Marinated Beef Butter Chicken Wings Canh Chua Tom I feel like everyone has talked about the marinated beef butter and the chicken wings and they're definitely a must! The sauce and onion/garlic topping for the beef butter pairs very well with meat. This dish also comes with a clear pork-based broth with a chunk of meat. As for the chicken wings, my family and I loved them. The batter is definitely on the lighter side and is fried to perfection. They are already seasoned with simple salt and pepper and if you want a citrusy kick, there's some lemon/pepper sauce on the side. The chicken wing was fresh, crispy, savory, and moist. As for the other dishes, we thoroughly enjoyed the beef luc lac! The dish is sweet/savory and went perfectly with the egg on top. Although everything we ordered was fantastic, my personal favorite (besides the wings) was the canh chua tom! This was perfect for the cold weather. The soup was nice and sour with so many delicious veggies and shrimp. Even though it was super busy, the staff members were all very attentive and friendly! And the food was ready within 15 minutes of ordering. Delicious food, lovely staff/service, what more could you ask for? This place lives up to the hype!

The hype is REAL! Add this to your list when in Vancouver. Heard about the long wait times so we got there 30 mins before opening and we were the first in line! Ordered the popular items such as the chicken wings, buttered beef, bo luc lac and tong choy and all were tasty. I wished I had a bigger stomach because I wanted to try everything on the menu. I'll be back!

This place for decades has been a Vancouver Chinatown institution for Cambodian & Vietnamese food! Expect a lineup, especially around dinner time, but it's well worth the long wait. As a tradition, we always order the Phnom Penh Dry Rice Noodles - with prawns, pork, pork innards, ground pork, dried shrimp, all served dry with a mushroom soya sauce with soup on the side as per our request. For a popular crowd-pleasing appetizer, try the delicious Deep-fried Calamari - or Chicken Wings if you're so inclined - with garlic, served with a lemon & pepper sauce.

Came here on a Thursday 10 mins at opening and there was already people inside dining. We were seated promptly. Service was good with servers attentive and food coming out fast. For food, food we got the 2 most popular dishes. Butter Beef 4.5/5 This dish is good, has a deep savory sweet flavor and the raw beef texture I loved. It didn't feel dirty or off putting at all. The sauce is what made this dish great. The bits of fried onion on top was a great combination. I enjoyed this dish. Chicken Wings 3.5/5 I had high expectations for the wings and because I haven't had fried chicken in a while but these wings were barely crispy. I wanted to get that nice crunch into the bite but was disappointed. Seasoning wise, it's good, nothing crazy or special. But paired with the lemon sauce, it was awesome. The acidity definitely help cut through all the fat and made this a bit more balanced. Wasn't blown away by the dish, just ok. Overall would recommend to check out. You will enjoy the food regardless but being a standout restaurant, you can be the judge of that.

Even if someone is not good in English, the menu is written in Chinese and Korean next to English descriptions. Depending on your appetite their noodles come in small, large and x-large sizes. My friend ordered 6 Beef Brisket noodle (small $15.95) while I ordered 64 Grilled Chicken and Spring Roll with Vermicelli ($18.95). The size was just about right for Pho. Mine was big. It had plentiful of veggies with freshly cooked spring rolls and meat. Noodles weren't too mushy. I somehow felt fish sauce was too little for my food. Later I called the server to request for more fish sauce. He started talking to me in Korean even though I didn't have communication issue in English. Anyways service was great. Food was fantastic. I'd warn ventilation system wasn't great so you might pick up food odour on your clothes. I felt cold sitting in the restaurant as the door was swung open for that reason. They get busy during lunch hours.
