One of the best deals in town. Whatever age you're turning becomes your discount. You best better believe we brought grandma. The only catch is that you do need to book in advance, you must order the crab, drinks aren't discounted, and the crab is capped at 30% off. Besides that the world is your oyster. We left completely stuffed full of delicious eats and can't wait for another family's birthday so we can come again

Singaporean & Vietnamese Cuisine! So many options and all of it is good, I would say they are on the higher end cost average is about $20+ per dish. Right now there is a lunch deal for about $16! The each of the rice dishes are delicious! Some come with soup and there is variety of choices: Chicken rice, coconut rice, jasmine rice, ext. (Look on their website or on ig for more details!) The interior is clean and updated as they've revamped the inside! It's giving vintage chic! Bonus, if you like Singaporen chilli crab and pineapple fried rice! Their most popular dish. there are actually a few crab options and dishes as well, like cheese!

Set C ($19.50); special beef and crab tomato noodle soup

It's been years since we've been to Mui Ngo Gai for a meal. Went on a weekend to check out their set lunches for 2 ($19.50). Can't beat the price. Our group shared Set B (kimchi fried rice + bak kut teh) and Set C (special beef + crab tomato noodle soup). Spring rolls were decent, set came with cups of root beer. Bak kut teh was the best dish; flavourful but not herbaceous. Fried rice had good wok hei but barely any kimchi. Beef pho and bun rieu were serviceable, but don't beat any of the Viet restaurants in the neighborhood. 3.5 stars.

We came here because of an IG promotion about lunch for 2 for $20. When we came it was super packed - line out the door. Despite that the service was fine - more like busy Vietnamese restaurant service, they do stop by enough. Sorry promotion was only for last week. It's a good deal but at the original price - lunch for 2 for $40 - not worth it. We ordered set B and D. The good- - the Bak kuh teh was pretty good. I had not had the "mufan" before and it is like soupy rice is the best way to describe it. I really like it actually. The soupy hokkien mee was pretty good as well. Now the bad - they only had set lunches, you could not order anything else. Each lunch comes with two cokes, no substitutions. I hate sofa. The kimchi fried rice was mostly fired rice just small bits of kimchi. It's OK. Not sure if I would come here normally.

After hearing about the $19.50 for two lunch special, my friend and I gave it a try! The set we got came with beef pho, tomato crab noodle and two spring rolls which was very filling. Unfortunately, service was slow and it was hard to flag someone down. The spring rolls were pretty tasty however the soups were not very flavourful. The beef pho did come with a lot of beef but there wasn't much in the crab tomato soup. Personally, it was nice to check out for the special but I wouldn't rush to visit it again. .

From the outside exterior, the inside is very unassuming and and elegant. It definitely gets cold inside, so bring layers as there is no heat. The crab tomato soup was really flavourful and comforting. The tamarind fried fish was an interesting dish but felt a bit overcooked. The peach lemongrass drink was delicious but took awhile to make. Pork belly was good over rice otherwise not my favourite dish and felt very salt heavy. They are known for their crab dishes but my guest didn't feel like it for dinner so I will have to come back another time to try. It can get busy so reservations are needed if you're in a big group or want to ensure a spot. Staff are ok but definitely didn't feel warm or friendly. I imagine it is transit friendly as a bus stop is right in front otherwise I believe there is street parking.

- service was attentive - tried 2 dishes and 1 appetizer and most of them are very good - only downside was they used microwave to reheat the sticky rice balls making them very chewy and dry

Recently saw a limited time promotion for buy one get one free pho and duck bamboo noodle soup and opted to try out Mui Ngo Gai for lunch! Their promotion was for their lunch hour launch which was recently released. I had the duck bamboo noodle soup. The flavour of the soup was fragrant and warning. The noodle soup is a little different from your typical pho. There are no bean sprouts but had thinly sliced cabbages and bamboo shoots as vegetable alternatives within the soup. It was a nice change! There was a generous amount of duck - at least 6 pieces in my bowl includes a drumstick too. Overall, the meat was good, but only the drumstick was on the chewier side. The restaurant itself felt more like a tea house than your regular vietnamese restaurant. It was beautifuly decorated with floral paintings on the wall and has velvet chairs. The host was very friendly and regularly checked up on us. She was very passionate about the restaurant as she inform us they offer Singapore food at night too and recommended us to visit for dinner next time!

Was here for a media event. The food has been the same but it seems like they fixed the pho bowl problem. Under new ownership, there has been a big change to the restaurant especially the ambiance and environment. I was ignored once when I wanted to ask a question by one of the female waitresses but I think they were busy rushing out stuff. Nevertheless, I'll come back for their pho again but maybe less than frequently as this was my favourite Vietnamese restaurant before.

definitely pricey, but worth it. they have a special birthday promotion right now where the food is: your age-10% off. safe to say for our dad it was quite the deal! their three types of sticky rice+ pork and chicken was my favourite. the chicken was grilled so well and did not taste dry at all! also exceptional service! the waitresses were very attentive to our table and even played happy birthday over their speakers when they brought out our dad's cake (overkill but I think it was a cute gesture)

Stopped by for their July lunch promotion. Set lunch for 2 for $19.50. I got set d - hokkien mee and mufan (seafood rice). Set came with 2 spring rolls and 2 cups of soft drink (it was root beer today). Food was pretty tasty! Set d came out fast but set c (the noodles) took 10 minutes longer. Overall good meal.

This restaurant by name has been around forever, but ownership changed one year ago and the restaurant has been revamped. It's been renovated and reminds you of almost a tea house vibe, and the waitresses are dressed like stewardesses. They are also no longer just a Vietnamese restaurant, but also serve Singaporean food. This is a combo I've never heard of, but as I love Singaporean food we had to check it out. We ordered many many many items off the menu from the Vietnamese and Singaporean side. The lunch and dinner menus are different, and there's no pho during dinner. The best items from the Vietnamese portion of the menu were probably the chicken wings and spring rolls, which were both fried well and tasty. Each spring rolls also includes an entire shrimp. The only item we enjoyed from the Singaporean menu was the seafood hor fun. Everything else was very mediocre, overly salty, and not authentic Singaporean food. Stay away from the pork belly which was not pork belly but like chopped pieces of pork which were soooo salty and not much other flavour, the sambal fried rice was flavourless, the chili crab ($130 for one) hit the table and the colour was off as it was not tomatoey and just overwhelmingly spicy even though we had asked for mild spice and we had some people who couldn't eat spicy. They also had a bunch of items on the menu that were not available for us to order like frog and laksa. Overall we all found it overpriced, unauthentic, and we would not be back. Most dishes seemed to start in the high twenties. The one upside is that the service was decent, and the staff were friendly.

Came for the birthday discount which was a total steal! You get a percentage taken off the bill depending on what age you're turning! Tried out the pineapple fried rice, sour shrimp soup, steamed dumplings, firecracker salad and crab noodles! The dishes were all pretty good but unfortunately nothing left me wanting more. The service was slow as well and it took us almost 40 mins to get our first appetizer out. I recommend trying it out if you want a good variety of food but not sure how often I'll be back

If you have ever had Peranakan food in Singapore and wish there is a place selling it in Vancouver,…read morelook no further. Bibik's is a true blue authentic Peranakan pop up kitchen. Unfortunately it is not a full fledged restaurant (Covid has scuttled the plan) but luckily we can still get to have our Nonya food fix via the commissary kitchen. The challenge is actually placing an order. It is a pre-ordering system where you have to stalk their IG account. The call to order is usually on Sunday and you place the order online and make payment. Then you wait a week for the pick up at YVR Prep on Saturday (90 mins window). I am lucky to get my order in as it sells out very quickly. They have a limited quantity per week. It is usually 3 items which are available each week (appetizer/snack/dessert, entree and a drink) I think I have tried almost all the dishes they offer over the months. Everything is good. My absolute favorite is the Mee Siam. I liken it to Violet Oon (or typical Bibik household) standard in Singapore. You could taste the spices in the rempah. The aromatic is more pronounced. I just feel there is pride in the dishes made, to introduce what real Peranakan food is. For me that is really Singapore food, food that I miss. Now if only there is Ayam buah keluak too, that will make my life complete. Haha. I also wish for itek tim, hee peow soup and Babi pongteh. I was so glad I managed to try the Tok Panjang which was available during the holidays. That was really a feast with plenty of dishes -- itek sio, sambal prawns, chap chye, ngoh hiang, achar, pulot hitam and the nonya Kuehs. I love the design and packaging too. It is all very simple yet pretty and great care has been taken in the products. They are very friendly too. Follow their IG if you have a hankering for Singapore food. They usually post pictures of Singapore and the food. But that may not be a great idea now since traveling is restricted and it may make the cravings even worse.

Pickup was easy from their commissary kitchen. As you can see in the photo, the portions are very generous and it was very flavourful! There are actually a lot of prawns hidden under the fried egg, arranged artfully in a spiral. The fried egg was perfectly cooked with a soft runny yolk (just the way I like it!) Apparently they sell out very fast so if you want to order, best to do so on their instagram on the day the release the menu for the week. Only comment I have is I wish it was hotter as I picked it up during lunch hour and brought it home immediately to eat. I was too hungry this time, but next time I'd probably heat it up more. Still delicious lukewarm!

During my first visit I ordered the monthly special, which was a Burmese burger with mala spiced fries . The Burmese burger featured tea leaf aioli that I could honestly bathe as it was swimmingly delicious. I wish the fries had a little bit more spice, but we a good accompaniment.. After reading some reviews on yelp I came back a second time and ordered what seemed to be a local favorite which were the salted egg yolk chicken wings, which were honestly to die for especially with the chili crisp sauce . New favorite dish alert !!!!! Super crispy , salty , flaky and unique chicken wings . First time I ever tried salted egg anything despite seeing it as an option a few times in the past at Chinese restaurants in San Francisco, as well as in Singapore. I'm grateful that this place put "salted egg "on my radar. I've since had several dreams about those chicken wings and was a little sad two weeks later that the place was remodeling. It was literally my first stop after getting my rental car. I'm glad though that this place is only a temporary closed due to remodeling as I highly recommend this place.

Usually we could eat those dishes in Singapore and Malaysia as street food but we were lucky that we could eat them here in Canada. I recommended reserving a table if you haven't tried more than four guests. When we placed an order, we had to go to the counter, ordered the food and paid. The service was good. Servers were friendly. We could find street parking but I would recommend parking in the residential area and walking to the restaurant.
