I was lucky to get a table around 7pm on a Friday with minimal wait, as the restaurant was always quite busy. We ordered a bunch of items to share. We got the Hainan chicken (side order) which was soft and tender. The ginger scallion sauce was really flavourful and didn't overpower the taste of the chicken. As a carb dish, we ordered the "char bee noon" which I don't usually get/see at other SEA-style restaurants. Really liked this one and I like how they can adjust the salt level because usually their sauce can be quite salty. For other sides, we got the roti canai, which was as expected. The one dish that we saw every table getting was the crispy smoked pork belly (some tables even ordered 2!!), so we definitely had to try it. It was a newer taste for me; it had the taste of cha siu, but the skin was really crispy like it was siu yuk. Really good!! The vinegar-based dip acted nicely to cut out the rich and fattiness of the pork belly. Definitely a good dish to pair with something light, like Hainan rice. Service was great and food came out in a timely manner. Would be back for sure when I'm in Burnaby!

Amongst the food we ordered, I particularly liked the Hainanese chicken and Pandan leaf chicken skewer. The Hainanese chicken was tender and went well with the yellow rice. The chicken skewer had a subtle floral Pandan taste which I liked. Their Char Kuey Teow was pretty good too. There were shrimps, squids and fish cakes in it. It has Wok Hei. I have been to the Burnaby branch of SH before and I like this Coquitlam branch more.

Yumz! - It is rice noodle in a yummy egg sauce with fish cake, shrimp, sliced pork & loads of veggies served with a pickled green chili ( ask for soya sauce into your pickled green chillies) I never had a bad dish from there, menu is pretty extensive from Singapore Laksa, to noodles & rice dishes. When I'm in the neighbourhood, I order my favourite noodles from Auntie Irene. They don't have these all the time but when they do, it's always so delicious! Loh shi fun is the name and they are cooked perfectly with minced pork, bbq pork in a beautifully balanced sauce. It's equally good with their regular lo mee noodles! And make sure you add their pickled chilies for a nice spicy and vinegary kick. I can't wait to come back here again!
