Not always opened so better to call before. Staff very friendly and decently clean place. Simple decor and small parking lot. Not a lot of customers as their open hours are very chill but takeouts are welcome too. CASH only! Food options are limited but each dish is delicious! Would definitely recommend and go back!

I can't believe I have never been here till recently, and it has been around for 20+ years. It is pretty much a hole in a wall place, and it is a blink and you will miss it thing. Located along the main road, set in a tiny plaza with a few other shops, there are parking spots available in front of the shops. The lady boss was friendly and readily made suggestions when I asked for recommendations. Note: Satay is not made the traditional way, over the charcoal grill thing, so do not get your expectation up if you order that. I was tempted to get the kolo mee and the sarawak laksa. In the end, I had the sarawak laksa (since owner is from there) and pulut panggang. Both were so good. The gravy for the sarawak laksa had a more herby taste, reminded me of the herby food found in Cambodia or Vietnam. I could not tell what it was. Googling the recipe, I discovered it had galangal and lemongrass and maybe star anise, clove, nutmeg in it, so could be that? I will be back here to try the kolo mee next time and other dishes.

That pre flight take out!! Had a take out from here for my flight to Toronto. Normally, I'd go all the way to Vancouver/ downtown for food but I was short on time. And this place looked good. Located in a small strip plaza, it's tiny. Calling for orders was a little difficult since if they don't pick up, you have to leave a voicemail and wait till they call back. But I didn't wanna wait and kept trying! Got a hold of them eventually. The lady on the phone was so nice! Turns out it's a one woman show. She was so warm and sweet in person too. I walked into a place full of tables and 1 lady doing it all for everyone. She answered, she cook, she pack and she serves! The lady alone was 4 stars for me! She was so nice. Now the food! I got 3 things. They were all a ok for me. The Nasi goreng was interesting/ different. A lot of black peppers. The Nasi lamek: she packed it nice but it still spilled. Missing some flavors. And Hainan chicken! I went mainly for it was definitely me least favorite. It was steamed but almost felt raw. Such bummer!! Regardless, the lady was so nice here. I'd probably give it another chance if I'm in the area again! And try different dishes.

Came here and decided to get a takeout so i can get more items. Well first of all, the name says it all that it is cash only so make sure you bring your cash. I met with the lovely owner lady and she was very nice. She recommended to get the nasi lemak, the penang char kway teow and the lo mee. Mannn i dont normally give 5 star but i got it takeaway and they were still amazing. The portion was super worth it too for the price. The lo mee definitely reminded with mie ayam, and it was just extremely good. The moment she said her nasi lemak was the best in town, ive had my doubts, but i guess she wasnt wrong. The nasi lemak was simply the best, the spice, the spicyness level, the mixture of everything, they were all just perfect. Since nancy go yaya closed, i guess this is the place to get your nasi lemak then. The penang char kway teow was correctly and perfectly made too. Even though only 2 prawns were given, it was still worth it. The taste was just perfect. Malaysian hut is definitely very recommended and i would for sure come back again like mek's delight. Cheers!

I really enjoyed the food here, wished it was closer to where i live, then i would go more often. There was just 2 pages to the menu but i think quality is better than quantity. They have noodle and rice dishes and you can choose the spice level that you want.

Owner is a very friendly lady. Their roti canai is the best I've had in Vancouver. Authentic. Got their satay too which was okay. For main I ordered Penang Char Kuey Teow. Big portion, and a little too spicy. I also ordered the Nasi Goreng which had too much pepper. It's a cash only place so remember to have some cash!

I've been coming to this restaurant for years and have never been disappointed. It's one of the few Malaysian restaurants in town that serves its food authentically and truly representative of the dishes I eat whenever I travel back to Malaysia. Many times, I invite friends who have never tried Malaysian food and take care of all the ordering. Every time, they leave satisfied and rave about the food for days and weeks after. It's a family run, quaint, charming spot with limited seating so reservations and preordering are recommended if going with a larger party. Otherwise, I have not had a problem being seated. It's also cash only so keep that in mind before going. In my experience, service has always been very friendly and personable.

We stopped by this restaurant based on the reviews. We were seated right away. However, it looked like a one man show. It took forever for us to get our tea as the lady was busy helping another table and take out orders. We placed our order and got our satay beef skewers in good time. It was hot and tasted good. However, it took another 30 minutes for our lukewarm/cold Mee Goreng to arrive. It was underwhelming. There was not much meat. Portion was small for the price compared to other restaurants. I bit into cold pieces of tomatoes. By then, we just finished our meal quickly and did not bother to order dessert as originally planned. Overall, not worth visiting for awhile. This place seems like a good place for take out food if you lived nearby.

The prices are reasonable, the food is tasteful . Service is good. The only thing is the place is a bit small with only 6 tables.

I didn't really enjoy most of the items, and the dessert was only okay. That said, their chicken and rice is absolutely delicious and worth coming back for. While doing some shopping in South Surrey, B.C. we happened upon a cute restaurant, Banana Leaf…read moreMalaysian Cuisine. In addition to South Surrey, they have 4 other locations the greater Vancouver area (Robson, Broadway & Oak, Kitsilano, and Davie). Up until this point, I had never tried Malaysian Cuisine, was always curious, but it just never happened. On a side note, I remember the first time I tried Thai food, back in Nashville when I was in my mid 30s. Odd that it took me that long and even odder considering I grew up in Brooklyn and New York City, the melting pot of the country. I didn't really have a concept of the distinction between different types of Asian food, my only point of reference was Chinese food. I remember being blown away upon that first time trying Thai food (and hooked ever since) and the experience was quite the same with my experience with Malaysian cuisine. We meant to order two appetizers but through a miscommunication, actually ordered three, oops! It was a good problem to have. Between the appetizers and the main dishes, while each course was a generous serving, nothing was heavy or made me feel bloated in any way. At the same time, the flavors just seemed to burst, with very distinct and pleasing tastes while combined with beautifully decorative touches that were aesthetically appetizing! The Eggplant Fries were really interesting. Personally, I find eggplant can be challenging to work, to get flavored just right and get cooked enough so it's not rough to eat but not cooked so much that it becomes mushy. Maybe it's just me but I do struggle with that at times. I found the fries to be a perfect balance between firm enough to warrant being called "fries" with just the right amount of chew, not too mushy. The Spring Roll Lettuce Wraps were beautiful, creative and imaginative. You place the spring roll inside the lettuce along with the vibrant red cabbage, fold the lettuce and dip into the sauce *chef's kiss* Both the Tofu Goreng appetizer and Tumeric Coconut Spinach were bursting with flavor. The Pineapple Fried Rice also had an amazing depth of flavor along with the beautiful presentation inside the pineapple. Last, but definitely not least .. I've never had anything like their Mango Margarita. As clear to see in the picture, it's filled with fresh ripe whole mango pieces which really helped elevate this drink to the next stratosphere lol. If this is what I can expect when eating Malaysian Cuisine, count me in for a repeat performance!
