It's a cozy little restaurant. We went for a walk at Steveston during lunch time and first I was hesitate to go in because there was only 1 table of customer but after I check out their review and want to give it a try and no disappointment!! It tastes authentic. And as soon as we sat down, half an hr later the restaurant was full! I really enjoyed the laksa at Nyonya House! The soup is rich and creamy with a wonderful coconut aroma. This coconut soup tastes like something authentic that they made. Not just add coconut milk. I asked the staff there and she said they cook the coconut soup in house! The noodles are 2 type mixed with egg noodles and vermicelli. There are even dry shrimp on the tofu puff to make it more authentic !! We also ordered the chicken Satay which is also juicy and tender. The Hainaese chicken is deboned and the flavor is delightful. Their menu also has many Malaysian desserts. I think next time I have to go back to try the dessert.

Great food. Friendly and efficient service. Small dining area that's great for small groups. Chill vibe. Family run business. We ordered many dishes and unfortunately forgot to take picture of everything but nothing was disappointing. Everything was delicious! Multiple paid parking lots nearby.

I found this no frills restaurant while we were on our way to another restaurant in the area. The restaurant is small and only have 1 staff when we came in for lunch on a Monday. We ordered the fried tofu appetizer which came with fresh veggies. Flavor was great. We ordered the chicken curry and the hor fun noodles. Curry was ok and I wouldn't recommend the hor fun as it was pretty bland. The chicken rice was flavor full.

4th time eating here and I've never had a dish here i didn't love. Everything is so flavorful here!! I LOVE the taro ring dishes cause it's unique and don't see that anywhere else I get it with the rendeng beef usually. Such a cute mom n pop neighbourhood gem

There are ice kacang and Chendol here! Plus home made sambal and kaya for sale. A great addition to the food scene in Steveston. This place has better food than the other Malaysian restaurant in the area. A smaller menu but has some of the favorites. Even though it's called Nyonya, the dishes are not really Peranakan here. The dishes are more of the noodle soup (curry Mee, prawn Mee and Assam laksa) and bak Kut teh. The rice dishes are Hainanese chicken rice and Nasi lemak with rendang (beef and lamb) or curry (chicken or pork ribs). And you can't leave out the roti and satay. I like you can get food not commonly available like the shrimp roll (hae chor, a teochew dish) and fruit rojak. We had the chicken curry Mee, prawn Mee soup (penang style with a bit of spice in the soup), cassava cake and wanton Mee with char siu. Everything was good though I'm not sure if the wontons are house made. It's all shrimp and tasted like CP frozen wontons. I notice they don't have dishes which require wok hei cooking so none of the char kway teow, nasi or Mee goreng or hor fun dishes are on the menu. The only downside is the limited tables (4-5) for 4 people and the long wait for food and any extras. It's still only a mom and pop operation with the husband cooking and wife running the front of house. Bring lots of patience and don't be hungry when coming here. P.S. I appreciate they include the pickled green chili for the wonton Mee which is common in Malaysia. And they didn't charge me for cut red chili in soy sauce which is also a common condiment for any dishes in Malaysia. It just took a long time to arrive.

Shrimp Roll .. crispy & very flavourful!

Friendly Warning : Be ready to wait for table and food as the restaurant is still very new ( with limited staffing .. husband & wife only ) and is already receiving overwhelming attention from locals and visitors alike!! Brand new entry into the Historic Stevenston Village ... this Mom & Pop Southeast Asia .. Malaysian restaurant is truly a Gem to be discovered! Highlighted items from my visit: - Roti Canai .. very light and not greasy at all, the curry dipping sauce is "Gold"! - Shrimp Roll .. crispy tofu skin wrapping shrimp mousse with a touch of 5 spices, very authentic great as a starter!! - Prawn Kee Soup .. this is a Malaysian speciality, with broth made from shrimp shell and other ingredients! Chef's skill in this dish shows his love of his craft as the broth is both deep and very flavourful with a touch of spiciness! With all the ingredients on-point, this is a rare find in Vancouver! Will be back to savour their other creations!! Best wishes to this lovely family for their new venture in Richmond, BC!!

I am from Singapore so I know good Malaysian food when I taste it. First of all, adorable girl greets you though she has a "on strike" poster on her table . Her parents are the chefs and wait staff - truly a family small business! I was impressed by the amount of items on the menu. Everything from char hor fan, Chendol, cassava dessert, bak ku teh, lamb rendung ... along with expected staples like laksa and hainanese chicken rice. We ordered lamb rendung and chicken rice. I liked both and found it pretty authentic, even though we asked for mild spice. The lamb was fresh and in general they were very generous on coconut. I saw someone order chendol and it looked amazing. I am excited to go back to the other dishes. I am quite sad it's so far in steveston but the chef definitely has talent. Go try it!

Great family run Malaysian food place at Steveston pier. Great atmosphere and really kind staffs. The food is made with care and each item was made to order. Can taste the home-cooking of the food and food felt clean and healthy. Definitely check out this place if you are on the pier!

We were able to grab a table for 2 around 8pm, which is great given how busy this place usually is. We ordered the following: Chicken Skewers: Decently grilled with a the meat juicy and tender meat. The nice peanut sauce hit the spot! Seafood laksa: Full of deep rich flavours, this also really hit the spot especially on a cold and rainy night. The mix noodles had a nice chew and there were lots of tofu, seafood, and a full boiled egg (cut in half). Definitely a solid bowl of laksa! Fried Noodles: A great comfort dish. The noodles were springy and well-seasoned, with plenty of toppings mixed in. Not greasy, which I really appreciated, and the portion was generous. Roti: Comes with a thin curry sauce and served with sugar on the side. The roti is super buttery, soft, and flakey. One of the best roti's in the city! The curry sauce is too thin for my liking but decent flavours. Overall, the service is prompt but no frills. The food speaks for itself and is tasty at good portions at decent prices.

Their CHAR KOAY TEOW is good too - it is chewy and not greasy. It's my first time trying the BBQ ribs. The meat is tender and so well seasoned. I'll order the dish again. Service and cleanliness is normal. I like that they let us have hot tea instead of water for free. The parking lot at the back alley has quite a lot of spots so it is easy to find a spot. I am excited they're opening in Burnaby soon. Hopefully the food quality in the new location would be as good as the one in Richmond.

They are pretty well known for their lobster laksa, which is $19 on its own. We ended getting the combo that included curry chicken rice, curry fish balls, roti, a soda and a milk tea for $39. The fish balls and curry chicken rice were pretty standard. The chicken has a slight spiciness to it. They do give plenty of rice. Now for the star attraction, the lobster laksa comes with a whole lobster tail. It's a pretty small lobster tail that was a bit salty. Certainly not the best lobster tail I've ever had, but at this price point it's rare to get a lobster tail. The laksa itself was quite good. Really like the soup, which as not super thick but it was creamy, sweet and flavorful. Noodles and the fish cake inside were decent. Overall, it's a good amount of food and decent deal for the price.

It came with 4 prawns, a small sliced boiled egg, some tofu(?) thingy and bean sprouts. The noodle consists of a mix of vermicelli and round noodles. The major disappointment was that the soup was neither thick nor flavorful. It was watery and as if the vendor cheaped out on adding a teeny bit more sauce. Also, the portion was not very generous. Usually when i order from other restaurants and vendors, the dish would come with other toppings such as fish balls and tofu puff, plus the portion was a bit more. This was my third time trying this vendor after a long time as i was also not impressed by previous visits. I don't think I'll ever go back again. This is more of a 2.5 stars experience.

It also comes with a sweet and sour sauce on the side as well as a soup. The rice was the chicken oil rice and was delicious. The beef rendang we really liked although the meat would have been a little more tender. Nonetheless, it was very flavorful and not too salty.
