Was here to celebrate a birthday and they have the most special noodle dish for this occasion. However, we splurged and ordered a crab and it was disappointing. Kam Heong Crab didn't have much meat in it. The dish was doused in sauce and the taste of crab didn't surface at all. Mango Fish was interesting, a good equivalent of sweet and sour, but a tad too sweet for me. Roti Canai is delicious.

Picked up some food from Ipoh, my sil ordered it. Tasted more Chinese than Malay Nonya cooking. So disappointed! Char Kuey Teow--no high heat wok flavour, only a few pcs of fish cake Nasi Goreng--fried rice w/soya, absolutely no flavour Satay chicken--no satay flavour Deluxe curry platter--very very mild lamb, beef and chicken curry, cannot distinguish between lamb and beef since both tasted the same! roti--just like the store bought frozen ones durian balls--just a smidge of durian paste inside, not much taste Honestly, I can cook better at home with some store bought packaged Malaysian Singaporean sauces from TnT!! Food from Banana Leaf and John316 taste much better with Malaysian spices added.

In Marpole a little corner restaurant tucked away between a convenience store and a cafe is this gorgeous little gem. It was a lovely spring afternoon and the cool breeze made my nose cold and I really appreciated warming up to a steaming tea which I was greeted with while I waited. I love Rendang and roti so that's what I ordered. Rendang has such warm savoury flavours. It was more than I expected. The lamb was tender and the roti wasn't greasy at all. I would say the Rendang was better than the curry sauce for the roti. I dipped it in there sopping up the juices. It was also more than I could finish so had to take it in a to-go container. Overall 9/10.

One of the best Malaysian restaurant in Vancouver and a gem loved by the neighbours, Ipoh has been serving up delicious food for a long time. The restaurant is always busy (i.e. popular) and there is always a line up so plan your arrival accordingly. We waited about 20 minutes last time we were there. Once we got our table and ordered, the food arrived very quickly. We ordered the Pork Chop served on a deep fried Taro Ring. The taro ring was crunchy on the outside but soft and creamy on the inside. We also have the Kari Beef Brisket which had the best curry flavour. The other highlight was the boneless Hainanese Chicken, which was tender and delicious.

Delicious gem in the neighborhood serving up some mad (traditional) Malaysian cuisine. This place gets quite busy into the dinner hours even on a weeknight. Of all the dishes we ordered my favorite was definitely the Char Kway Teo. The dish was veryyyy flavorful (a tad salty, but acceptable), had a nice portion of meats including lap cheong and fish cake slices, all tossed with a nice and thin flat noodle. This is the dish I'd come back for again and again. And probably to try their homemade pandan cake and kuehs.

Ipoh Malay cuisine is tucked away in a small plaza in the Marpole area of Vancouver. It's very spacious and quaintly decorated. Roti Canai Beef rendang Seafood Tofu Delight Malay Char Kueh Teow Sweet & Sour Fish Ipoh Hor Fun Soup Noodles Malaysian Specialty Vegetables Hainanese Chicken Rainbow Ice Kachang Cendol The Malaysian Specialty Vegetables had both eggplant and okra listed in the description on the menu. Sad to say, there was barely any eggplant or okra in this dish. We wouldn't order this dish again as it was quite a disappointment. Aside from the Malaysian Specialty Vegetables, this place is a good place to go to for some Malaysian eats. The Seafood Delight was very enjoyable, and I was also very impressed that they were willing to make a Vegetarian version of the Ipoh Hor Fun Soup Noodles for us. The menu is quite extensive so you're sure to find something that will peak your interest! Service: Good Parking: Free Location: 1316 West 73rd Ave., Vancouver, BC

Family style Malaysian restaurant with interesting decor inside. We arrived around 1:30pm and got seated right away as it wasn't busy. I initially wanted to order the Ipoh Chow Fun, server told me they ran out of hor fun (thick rice noodles). I then chose mee goreng which is made with egg noodles, and the server said they're actually not out of hor fun, they just can't do any stir fried dishes since it was too hot in the kitchen... with half the noodle options being stir fried, I was a bit disappointed. I opted out for the laksa. Nasi lemak tasted great, everything on the plate worked well together. Curry laksa was a bit underwhelming, it wasn't as flavourful as I wanted it to be. Same thing with the roti, not flavourful and it came out soggy. Overall an average experience.

I'm not sure why only 3.5 stars - this was probably the most pleasantly surprising meal we had in Vancouver. And I came with a native Malaysian friend who agreed this is probably the best Malaysian food we've had in North America. We made reservations and were promptly seated. The staff was sooo nice and friendly. Everything was delicious- what stood out especially were the crispy pork and the wings. The Hainanese chicken was also tasty. The roti wasn't the best I had but still good. Make sure to save room for dessert!!! A delicious meal from start to finish!

Lunch at Ipoh Malay Cuisine. It has been a while since we dine here Tofu Goreng Beef Rendang Malaysian Specialty Vegetable. ( Beans and egg plant , lightly sautéed with dried prawns). Good compliment to rendang The food portion is big. Service is good. Food connects us all.

I was very excited to be here but somehow it turned disappointment unfortunately. We ordered Chicken satay, Roti Canai, Beef Rendang, rice, K.L Hokkien Mee and Sambal Green Bean. We concluded sambal green bean was the best from what we ordered. Very delicious. We wanted to have Beef Rendang and rice together but rice came early. Only rice. :( And chicken satay came later and it was not juicy hot neither :( I assumed as it was busy Saturday night, but still disappointment.

Excuse my photos. I had a tough class earlier and needed food. I even ordered "incorrectly". My friend who is Indonesian has been raving IPOH for a long time. He needs to join me next time as I clearly missed the mark today. Beef Rendang $17.95 It's a rich coconut sauce with cubes of Beef. For the amount of Beef, and amount. It's very reasonably priced. I'm not a fan of this version of the spices and the beef could've used a bit longer in the pressure cooker. Char Keuh Teow $13.95 Flat noodles with meat, prawns, dried sausage "lap Cheong" with sprouts, onions. There is a level of wok hay in this stir fry. The chef "chow" this very nicely. I enjoyed this dish. As for the service, the lady was super nice and the boss was very busy. I can see how some have an issue with service especially when they can get busy. TIP: Bring your Tupperware! Save the planet! for your leftovers. They also sell super yummy looking desserts to go, looking forward to trying them next time.

    Rendang Beef - Lunch

Decent food + service without a smile. If you plan on splitting bills, you have to let them know when you order. That's fine to inform us its too late when we asked at the end of the meal; but no eye contact, staring at machine with a grumpy face while telling us about this makes it super unpleasant and leaves a bad taste. Otherwise, we had their Rendang Beef for lunch for $14.95+tip which comes with rice and side of crispy salty baby fish and cucumbers. Similar taste and pricing as other places. Careful not to mix in the red paste until you've tasted the spiciness level of the dish or it can get too spicy as the curry itself is already a bit spicy. We also got their satay for $7.95+tax which comes in 4 skewers. I've had better; the beef skewer was a bit chewy/tough and it needed the peanut sauce to make it taste better.

The restaurant was crowded on a weekday night so it was quite a wait to get our food. The food was okay but the service could have been better. The prawn mee was soaking lots of broth and I was asking for an extra order of just the broth. I didnt mind paying extra, however, the lady refused and said no extra broth for the order. I find this really odd. Other than than that, nothing special. The restaurant has nice little deco that reminds me of Malaysia so the South East Asian ambiance is definitely there.

However, I was a bit disappointed but not too much as prices were decent depending on what you get. We got the chicken laksa, Nasi goreng, Mongolian chicken, and kuih lapis. Chicken laksa is the ideal order as the soup is decent and the pricing is fair. It is not the best as the soup didn't carry much flavor and the noodles were a bit on the softer side. It was filling however. Nasi goreng is solid. The vegetables felt frozen reheated and wilted, but at least the cucumbers were fresh. The amount of shrimp, squid, and fish cakes was dismal. Flavor profile is good. The Mongolian chicken is okay. It's not fried as the batter is quite soft. It is saucy which my friends were craving. I enjoyed the flavor profile of this one though. The dessert is good. Kuih Lapis is a colorful dessert so it appealed to me in both taste and presentation. One red flag I noticed is that I heard beep after beep of microwave sounds. It's as if all the dishes they prepared well in advance and just reheat for us, plus they walled off the kitchen and the back completely, giving the impression that they want to hide something. Most renowned places won't hide the back like that, as you can at least take a peek of what's cooking behind the scenes in most places. Service is good as they refill complimentary tea throughout our dining experience. Pay at the front for the bill.
