    Curry fish ball

One of the best cheap eats that I like going to is Curry House located at Yaohan Center in Canada. I've been going to Curry House for a long time and always get their beef brisket curry rice dish. They specialize in Malaysian food style. I also have been in the mood for some curry fish balls and their version is very good here. Large fish balls cooked and marinated in the signature curry sauce. Their fish balls are soft and tender and makes a great snack for dining in or on the go. The beef brisket was also very tender and cooked perfectly. It goes so well with their curry and this plate is easily shareable. I'm glad that you can still have a great meal without having to spend too much money. 8/10 Curry Beef Brisket with rice $11.00CAD=$8.41USD Curry Fish balls (6pc)-$3CAD=$2.29USD

    Hainanese chicken ($9.99)

First try of their hainanese chicken a few years back and it was disappointing. Tried again for lunch today and in hope this time would be better. However... The Chicken was soft but no favour at all. The rice barely contained any chicken favour. So it was another disappointment. They should just stick with selling the curry.

First time trying this place. Noticed they had the Hainanese Chicken Rice. Considering that it's from a food court I went in with low expectations and they were actually exceeded by a long shot. The chicken, which was bone-in, contributed to a lot of wonderful flavour, compared to other locations which debone their chicken. Additionally, it comes with the soup and the sauces were very flavourful as well.

One of the best Hainanese chicken rice I've ever had. One of my friend lived in Vancouver BC 15 yrs ago, and her favorite food is the Hainanese chicken rice from curry house. Finally I got a chance to taste what's all the fuss about. First of all, the Hainanese chicken rice is extraordinary. The chicken meat is very juicy, tender and lightly flavored. Two difference sauces are provided, they're not really necessary because the chicken itself tastes very delicious already. The rice is quite unique because it's covered with lots chicken oil. It sounds greasy but actually pretty good and brings out the sweetness of the rice. I also ordered curry rice noodle and it's excellent. Usually I'm not a fan of curry noodle, because it's quite easy to get too salty and spicy. But this one got the flavor right balanced. And the rice noodle get great texture, not too soggy nor too hard. Now I can see that why this store stands in the same food court for 15 yrs and still a popular choice for locals. It's hard to do daily ordinary food right, but they sure did it.

Tough cheap cuts of beef. For almost 10 bucks a plate (with rice) this is unacceptable. Dislike!!

Well I came back here to give their curry another try. The verdict? It sucked!!! The curry beef brisket with rice is $9.50, you get a side of rice and maybe 5 or 6 pieces of brisket and like 2 pieces of potato. So when 2 of the pieces of brisket are inedible because the cut of beef is really cheap and/or not braised/cooked enough you tend to get a little pissed off. I think when you play almost 10 bucks for your lunch and almost half of it is inedible that's pretty crappy. The only good part was the curry sauce which was very flavourful so I poured it all over my rice. If your name is Curry House you should be able to make some decent curry. The 2 stars are for the laksa and haninese chicken which I can find elsewhere. Won't be back.......

We arrived slightly before 7 pm and the parking lot had plenty of spots. However, there was a line to enter. We were in line for approximately 20 minutes. A lot of the vendors only accept cash. We are from Chicago so we tried to pay with credit card and were mostly successful. We tried several items such as popcorn chicken, fried mushrooms, Taiwanese garlic sausage, eggplant bao, lamb bao, beef skewers, lamb skewers, grilled oysters, and takoyaki. There is an approximate 5-10 minute wait for each stand to prepare the food. So I would say one should expect to spend at least 1.5 hours to seek out the food, order, and eat. There are plenty of benches with seating, public bathrooms, and ATM.

It is more than just food stalls and vendors selling jewelry, stickers, socks, cell phone accessories etc. There are bouncy castle, inflatable balls to run around in, zip line, fair games like the PNE etc. What I find ridiculous but common here in North America is having to pay an admission fee just so you can go spend more money on food and shopping. In other parts of the world where night market or Christmas market is a common thing, you just go stroll through the streets where vendors and shops are for free. Buy food and things when they catch your eye. So it's $7 general admission now, $5 after 10 pm for late night. Seniors (60+) and children (under 7) are free. There are some stalls offering happy hours items for the entire night ($10 under food and $7 under drinks). Otherwise food is around $15 on average. The food stalls are still mostly Asian fare. Many bbq skewers and I saw many getting the squids. I tried a frozen banana dessert which was cut up frozen banana dipped in chocolate and drizzled with pistachio sauce and that's the Dubai inspired dessert. Not that great. The cheese coin was decent with plenty of cheese. The inari bomb was pretty tasty. Many stalls are cash only. So bring cash, lots of cash. There is a 3% charge for admission ticket if paying by card. I'll say budget for minimum $100 each if you want to fully enjoy the experience of buying food from a few stalls, play a couple of games and buy things. Parking is free and well organized. There is also a lot of soccer related theme this year because of the World Cup where a few games will be held in Vancouver. I can see this place being popular for young kids, teenagers and young adults as something to do with friends. As I still travel to Asia at least once a year, I can totally skip this. If you're expecting it to be like the night markets like in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia etc, this is not it.
