Such a great spot in this food court! For the Laksa, you can choose two kinds of noodles. The soup had a nice coconut flavour. I really enjoyed my Curry Beef Brisket with Rice. The portion of beef didn't look that big but it was actually a good amount. The curry was delicious and packed with flavour and the beef was so tender and tasty! I could eat a lot of rice with it!  For the Haianese Chicken and Curry Combo you can choose beef or chicken curry and it also comes with a small soup. SO GOOD!! Decided to have a shared in-between meal (between lunch & dinner lol) with my partner, after having grocery shopped at the T&T in the same mall. We ordered a combo of Hainanese chicken with rice, and beef curry. The service was very fast and helpful, and the food came out very quickly! Note: the lady at the cash noticed us struggling to share the bowl of curry with one set of utensils, and immediately called us over to give us an extra plate & utensils. Very much appreciated!! The chicken was tender and flavourful. It was everything I ever need in a Hainanese chicken. The rice was good too, but I felt it was lacking a little bit of salt... or chicken-y flavour? Everything tasted great with the ginger scallion oil, of course! The beef curry was amazing... rich, thick curry with an ample amount of meat given! The meat itself was still tender, though some pieces were a bit more chewy. All expected with a brisket. I really enjoyed the side of soup they gave! It tasted herbal-y and reminded me of some soups my grandma & mom would make. Definitely a nostalgic taste of home. The soup was great to cut the thickness of the curry in between bites, too. Really good food here but pricey in comparison to other spots. My partner and I shared a hainanese chicken and beefy curry combo. The chicken was divine.. so juicy and tender, and the skin was the perfect texture for my soft mouth. Wow!! The beef curry was good, but not the greatest. Next time I would get only chicken. I wish there was more ginger and green onion and less oil in the ginger and green onion oil. The rice was not good in my opinion--too mushy and lacking flavour. I liked the addition of arrowroot soup! Felt healing to drink. Overall really delicious! The service was impeccable--our cashiers were so helpful and even provided service after we already ordered, paid, and sat down! The brand is located inside the food court just before the entry to Surrey's T&T. We went on a weekday afternoon and the food court itself wasn't too busy, but the brand was quite busy on their own. I saw online that they're known for their Hainanese Chicken Rice, as well as their Curry Beef Brisket, so I opted for their $18.99 combo where you get the Hainanese Chicken Rice, a small portion of beef curry- brisket or tendon, and a small bowl of soup. My boyfriend got their seafood Laksa. The chicken rice was delicious- golden yellow rice made from chicken oil, cold yet tender chicken with Hainanese chicken's iconic jelly oil, a great portion for the price you paid. The beef curry reminded me of the ones you would get in any cafes in Hong Kong, really aromatic, and rich yet you could tell it's Hong Kong style for those who grew up having it in Hong Kong. The brisket though, was a little fatty and you only get maybe 3 pieces of meat in the small bowl with a deceiving half of a potato at the bottom of the container. The Laksa though, was creamy and coconutty. You get to choose whether you want rice noodles or oil noodles to go with the soup, and since I grew up having it with oil noodles, that was my pick. The soup has a great amount of spice and the aroma of shrimp paste, super well-balanced. In terms of ingredients, you get 4 pieces of shrimp, half a boiled egg, some tofu puffs and fish cakes, as well as bean sprouts. read more

Awesome Malaysian place in this secret hidden food court by T&T. Parking is plentiful in the large strip mall lot. Staff were friendly. The name is a bit misleading as they don't just do curry. The food is more Malaysian style, but I heard the lady behind the counter speaking Mandarin. The laksa I had was beautiful. Plenty of goodies such as tofu puffs and fish cake slices. Second time having their Curry, and happy to report its still amazing! This is a Hong Kong family run outlet at the very busy food court inside the T&T Supermarket in Surrey on 100 Avenue. I actually drive here every time from Richmond, when I want some decent HK Style Wonton Noodles right next door to YL's, but seeing that their curry dishes are so enticing, I had to give it a try! First time I had their Curry Beef Brisket with Rice Noodle and it was a hit! The rich curry sauce is a blend of spices and vegetables ( it is a blend of Malaysian, Singapore & HK style curry ), it is naturally thicken with all the onions that has melted into the sauce, beef briskets are very tender without being stringy, a lot of times, if the beef is over cooked it will become very dry and makes it harder to chew!! In YL's case, they are just right not over done and still very tender! My second try was today, I ordered their Beef Brisket & Tendon Curry and it did not disappoint me at all, still with the very rich and savoury curry, btw their curry is not spicy hot but still gives you the satisfaction of having a deep rich curry flavour! Both the brisket & tendon were tender and again not over cooked! Now that I have tried their curries, my next adventure will be their Hainanese Chicken!! read more

Saw people raving about their Malaysian/Singaporean curry so decided to make a day trip out to Guildford. For $18.99+tax you get to sample their curry brisket and Hainanese chicken (both are their speciality). I didnt find the curry brisket spicy at all. It had a nice aroma of spices, but was missing that BANG factor if you know what i mean. This would be a try once and done type of place. The price $18.99 is not cheap. You only about 5-6 small pieces of curry brisket. The Hainanese chicken was ok not the best I had (made with chicken thigh leg). If you're in the area, feel free to give it a try. However, I would not make the trip from Vancouver or Richmond for this given the high gas prices. read more

I come here fairly often and they are usually pretty good except half my chicken for the Haianese Chicken Rice was rancid. Super disappointed. I was so hungry I even tried to eat around it but too much of the chicken had gone bad. They are normally not this disappointing so I bumped up what would have been a one star rating. read more

I was going to give it a 3 star, until I really thought about it, as I ate. My initial thought was - for $7.50 it's a little steep especially for just a plate of curry. I am a curry guy - and not just because my parents are Japanese, not because I ate it as a child growing up, and not because I make it myself, but because I did the CoCo Curry House Curry Challenge in Japan. That is eating 1.3 kilograms of curry in 20 minutes (I actually did it in 12). So, as I reminisced, I ate, and became more and more convinced of how good this simple plate of curry was. (I keep wanting to spell it currey). They give you a plate of rice and a little bowl of curry - I got beef brisket and they throw in some potatoes too. I wasn't too impressed with the portion when I first got it, but it made me full and not wanting any more (and if you haven't already figured out, I can eat a lot -whether I need to or not). I am with Arlen N. on this one, definitely a better alternative than a Big Mac at similar price. The hottness is perfect ... spicy but not too. I got the beef brisket curry the meat was perfect tender. What a great plate of curry. What keeps it from a 5 star for me is I'd like SOMETHING on the side - a few lettuce leaves, something pickled, something. Doesn't have to be big, but a nice little complement - because it is a lot of curry. I know really petty, but for me it makes a big difference. I usually order the beef brisket, the curry is very flavorful and the beef is very tender, just good honest food. Whenever I have to go to Surrey, I try to stop by this place to get beef curry. Their curry is consistent. The sauce has just the right amount of consistency and spices with a little spicy kick. The beef is tender and the potatoes nice. It's great that they give you the option if you want beef brisket with tendon. I always order the medium which is good size for a family of 3-4. I haven't tried the other dishes in here so can't comment on those. read more

It's GOOD, what more can i say? YL's Curry Bowl is a located in the food court of the 152nd St. location of T&T Supermarket and offers a fairly typical food court experience in terms of service, seating and atmosphere (a pretty constant flux of people and the odd screaming child) but a pleasantly atypical food court experience in terms of food quality! It should be noted, like all the vendors in the food court, they accept CASH ONLY but a TD ATM is available. YL's makes for an excellent quick lunch or supper. It is a frequent lunch spot of mine. I will have to admit, I have not made it very far though the menu as I seem to be really hung up on the lamb curry with steamed white rice. Of course they do have a larger menu including a couple of beef curries, a chicken, a veg, a soup and a few other meat based menu items. It is an Asian style curry, somewhat chunky with noticeable presence of chillies and has attractive gold/brown colour. There is a generous amount of tender lamb (I can't speak for the other versions, but would assume the same) and the spice is just enough to leave a pleasant and lingering tingle in your mouth but certainly not overpowering. The curry is served over a small amount of boiled potato and served along side an optional plate of steamed white rice. The lamb curry with large plate of steamed rice makes a sizable (likely a bit large for all but the biggest eaters... like me) lunch for 7.50$ (tax in), which might sound a little high, but when compared to Big Mac for 6.15$? There is no comparison. It should be kept in mind that while an adventurous eater, this curry is being reviewed by a Caucasian guy :) read more

The curries are excellent if you like the harsh taste of sprouted garlic. I really mean that. It's good. The flavour is a little thin otherwise, but it's good. Cheap, fresh-made roti, though. So crispy and perfect, and $4 an order. I just want to go with a big group of friends and order a dozen roti and cover a table with them. So good. And unlike a lot of the roti in the Lower Mainland, they really develop the multiple layers and the taste really well. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant when we ran in TNT supermarket during our visit to BC over Christmas holiday. The hainanese chicken rice was delicious. The rice has really good flavor and the the chicken was cooked to perfection as it was tender and yummy!! Very authentic dish indeed. Additionally, meal comes with a very authentic Chinese soup with chunk of carrot and Chinese squash! Soup tasted exactly what my late mother would have on her stove everyday! I simply loved it!! Lets get this out of the way.. 4 star for welfare traditional brisket curry. But Laksa however gets 1 star for making it look legit. 4 spoonfulls and i threw it out. Thats right 1 spoon...i was like disgusted...decided ill give a few more spoons..couldn't do it. Taste like plastic container and oil with spoiled fish sauce,there is no laksa flavour. Ive tried laksa all over vancouver, surrey, north vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond. This straight up garbage. This place has really good curries for cheap. For $10 you can fill yourself up with a big plate of chicken, beef, or lamb currie. A friendly advice: if you decide to go there after 7 pm, call first, to make sure they are still open. The place is so popular that sometime it sells out before the food court closes. read more

Hainan chicken rice is still pretty good but the Long Kong chicken is mediocre and overpriced (It's really watered down - I recommend Henlong's chicken).
