    New menu with different cooks

So this has been my favourite neighbourhood hang out spot for about 6 years when it first opened. The South East Asian Fusion flavour was something I would rave to friends about and invite to enjoy drinks and some nice bites frequently. But as the Restaraunt has experienced a down turn of late, my favourite Chef Mr Chau has been moved to the Indochine Fraser location. I will dearly miss Mr Chau's consistent execution of my favourite dishes such as Mr Chau's Special Fried Rice, or oh so yummy Singaporean Lahksa. It is difficult to replace Mr Chau's knowledge and experience, and his replacements have some big shoes to fill. Unfortunately that has meant the menu has been greatly reduced. I will still visit the Indochine Broadway and Ontario location for their great happy hour drink specials, but I likely won't look forward to eating at this location on a weekly basis.

Came in post game for a quick bite and was surprised with the fusion Vietnamese, Southern asian style cuisine. Was told by mates that the menu is inspired/ created by a former fellow Phenom Phen Chef. Portion size is smaller than typically Vietnamese Restaurant and bigger than an Izakaya for their entrees. I had the Laksa which was surprisingly fresh and well garnished. My mates had the lemon grass chicken which was presented beautifully, along with the chicken wings and butter beef too. Thursday nights special is $8 pitcher of Blue Ribbon or Lucky Beer. Will return for late night southern asian cuisine. Staff was super friendly too!

I give this place a thumbs up. I pass by all the time but never really wanted to go in. The reason is because it looks like a pub and I think its a pub. Of course pub serves big portion comfy food. Well this place not quite. I mean the name does say something. Ordered 2 dishes to share and wings. Oh my... I love the wings. They are crispy the way I like them. They reminded me of Korean wings. Yummy. My favorite dish is the beaf luc luc. Wow. it had lots of flavor to it. Maybe I should not be judging a restaurant by the exterior look. I am just surprised.

Was recommended by a local to come check out this place and it definitely does not disappoint. We got there early on a Saturday night and it was not too busy yet, but I can definitely imagine this place getting busy. It's a very hip place and I love the decor inside. We ordered the butter beef and the garlic butter wings. My friend who is a very picky eater loved the beef so much that she ordered a second order of it. The wings were pretty good, but I wouldn't say anything special. We also ordered a side of rice to split and that was enough food to get us both full and we finished all of our food.

Always been a fan of this family's line of restaurants ! Always great food and good atmosphere. I love the butter beef and their chicken wings !!! I'm never disappointed. Flavours you will never find anywhere else.

Bo luc lac with tomato rice

    * Now open for lunch * They are now open for lunch, so I finally made it in to check it out. There are very mixed reviews here on Yelp, and it seems that a lot of the negative experiences have to do with dinner time service, so take my review for what it is worth as it is only based upon my own lunch experience there. The crowd at lunchtime was mostly business people (I saw a lot of real estate types reviewing listings with clients, etc.). Anyway, on to the food.....I had the bo luc lac. The beef was very tender, having a nice marinade on it. It was cooked perfectly, with the outside of each cube being nicely seared, and the inside still being juicy. The sauce was flavourful without being overly salty as sometimes is the case with this dish for me. The tomato rice had a nice rich flavour, and was cooked well. The cucumber, tomato, and lettuce were uneventful. I would have preferred some watercress to add a little bitterness. Overall this was a very respectable rendition. Don't get me wrong... I love the food at Phnom Penh (that famous Vietnamese/Cambodian restaurant located in Chinatown). But it's always so busy there that it can take a long time to get a table if you don't show up early. If you're looking for similar food (a bit more stylized) in a visually, more modern restaurant... you just have to head over to Indochine Kitchen + Bar on East Broadway. We've been here a number of times since they opened and have tried most of their menu items. Everything is quite tasty (not exactly like Phnom Penh but good in their own right). We dropped by for lunch one day and the place was practically empty. Which is surprising given these Indochine Garlic Butter Chicken Wings ($12) that you can order here. Juicy meat encased in a lightly crisp exterior... Mmm! Thit Kho ($11) is a Vietnamese dish with spicy braised pork shoulder that's perfect when served over rice. The chili and fish sauce gives the pork a slightly sweet but spicy caramelized taste. The thinly shaved slices of raw beef in their Butter Beef Carpaccio ($15) is slightly cooked from the citrus vinaigrette. Superbly tender (that's why it's called butter beef) and texturally contrasted by the fried garlic chips. As their name suggests, they also serve a number of drinks here. It's a great spot to drop by for some wings and a sip of your favourite libation.

Wow. I'm not sure what to say. Its the first day of the playoffs and we know its going to be busy, so we called at noon to see if they take reservations. The lady that picked up the phone said they do not take reservations since it is the playoff. It is first come, first serve basis. OK, fair enough. So, at 6:30pm we called to see how busy they are. This other lady now said they are fully booked until the game ends! I told her that when I called at noon that lady said there is no reservation allowed. This one said, "No, nobody would say that we here. We always allow reservations." I asked her, "Ok, so what time is the next table available?" Her reply was, "Oh, whenever the game ends." I really don't know what to say to her except bye (without the good, though).

2.5 stars. Music is so loud, feels like eating at a bar on Granville. Came here on a Wednesday night for a big group dinner. Wings are half off on Wednesday so the place was quite busy. The wings are similar to Phnom Penh but not as good. Dragonboy and I started with the beef poutine with a fried egg. Fries were good but definitely not enough cheese or beef. Then we had lemongrass chicken and beef luc lac. Was expecting it to be like Phnom Penh but it was nowhere near the same. Lemongrass chicken was nothing great. You're better off ordering it at a legit viet restaurant. Luc lac was chunky and a little tough. Best part was the tomato rice. The bill was a lot less than we expected it to be. About $30 for both of us including auto gratuity. Overall, an ok experience. It was good they accepted reservations and could accommodate a large group (about 15 people). Be prepared to scream a little across the table as the music is so loud.

Butter garlic wings. Come for wings Wednesday!
    Adrienne M.

Came here for wings Wednesday to catch up with the girls. I was told that this restaurant was associated with Penom Penh (PP) and that their butter garlic chicken wings were identical. To share among the 3 of us we ordered 1 butter garlic and 1 hot sriracha wings to start. The server told us the honey garlic isn't available today- which is too bad since that's my favorite! The butter garlic was heavenly- perfectly batter, flavored and deep fried. It was very similar to PP, even coming with the same lime and fish sauce dip. The hot wings were OK- very saucy and mildly hot. There were about 8 wings in each order for $6 ($12 regularly). We were still hungry and proceeded to order another butter garlic wings and their beef luk luk which I love and always order at PP. The beef luk luk was very disappointing. The beef were in cubes rather than strips- which is fine, but the sauce was just lacking the full bodied flavor that PP offers and the beef wasn't very tender. It was with rice that was red- I'm guessing tomato rice? Couldn't tell but it didn't add to the dish. I was really disappointed with this dish and hoped Indochine would cure my fix for PP without having to wait in line. I'd come back again but only on wings Wednesdays.

    Black Pepper Poutine

Whatever they did in their kitchen, we were having fireworks in every fusion dish. A must try place. Walls were charred noir and thumped to old school hip hop. The cubicle ambience was casual and our servers were genuinely friendly and helpful. We eagerly went for the appetizers, and I advise not to skip this part at Indochine. The Papaya salad had the right kick of tangy flavor and spiciness, with the perfect amount of lime juice, topped with shredded beef jerky to add savory. Butter Beef Carpaccio is an amazing beef lover dish with an asian twist: a Vietnamese item popular in gatherings, because what meat lover isn't impressed with thinly sliced raw beef buttery and slightly cooked with lime and vinaigrette, garnished with cilantro and crushed peanuts? The Black Pepper Poutine is a must try snack; it was perfect for me since it wasn't too cheesy on our order; I loved the fried egg on top. Onto the mains, you can dine easy with the Beef Luc lac because all you need is a fork: diced fried steak cubes in garlic butter soy sauce, with aromatic egg tomato fried rice to pair. The Coconut Red Curry stew with beef brisket was prominent, and a delicious sauce-to-rice meal. Finally, the Singaporean seafood Laksa was a creamy coconut broth that precedes its fiery side, filled with prawns, tofu, fish balls, and vermicelli noodles. I recommend starting out with the Beef Luc Lac. It's relatively neutral, won't burn your throat, and not overly exotic because it's steak. Delicious! Will try the Hainese Chicken and their wings on the next visit.

Had dinner here for the first time last night. Chicken wings were great and the atmosphere is definitely geared towards a younger crowd. Definitely see it as a great place to have some food and drinks before you head out for a long night at the clubs. If you're in the area, it's worth to check out!

    Shredded Chicken Vermicelli Noodle Soup

My go to spot on Wednesdays! They have specials throughout the week, but on Wednesdays they offer 1/2 off Butter Chicken Wings :) The wings are a must- they're somewhat like the wings at Phnom Penh but they're a bit smaller and crispier. The sauce and topping are a little different as well but give it a try, they're delicious. I love the Thit Kho: It's a braised pork shoulder with a tasty sweet/spicy sauce. I like to eat very spicy foods so I actually ask for extra peppers and eat it with the pork, but if you don't like things too spicy just don't break the peppers open into the sauce. It may not seem like a lot of food when you first see it, but with a big bowl of rice that's included in the meal it's very satisfying and filling. I also like the Shredded Chicken Vermicelli in Soup: it's a super flavorful soup with chicken, crispy shallots, cilantro, and scallions. It's not too heavy, since they use the "fun see" clear vermicelli noodles. I also like: Vietnamese Beef Stew Singaporean Laksa For good Asian food at a very reasonable price, it's a cool place to check out. I usually go for lunch, but it is much louder at night when they go for the more lounge/bar atmosphere change. If you don't like dining in a noisy room, definitely head over for lunch instead of dinner. I just couldn't give it 5 stars because occasionally the food takes a while to come out, or comes out all at different times when they are very busy.

We came here for a Winnie the Pooh Afternoon Tea. Oh my goodness...it far exceeded my expectations!…read moreHats off to the kitchen staff for coming up with such a creative and whimsical afternoon tea. First thing that caught my eye was the cover of the afternoon tea menu. It was red with a picture of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin printed upon it in a shiny gold colour. When flipped over, it had the menu for the afternoon tea printed upon it. I was super impressed that they even had a separate menu printed for Vegetarians. (I opted for a Vegetarian menu). There was a cute little ceramic jar that was shaped like a Honey pot, and it had sugar cubes in it! Then there was this booklet that was pages long, and divided into Chapters. It was basically the menu again, but in the form of a small book. Each Chapter of the book described different foods from the afternoon tea. The last chapter listed all the different tea flavors one could choose. When we sat down and read this menu, I heard more than one person at the table say that they wanted to take this menu home. Guess what? For the price of $25, one could take this menu home as a memento of this extraordinary afternoon tea? Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker, but how often does one get to go to an afternoon tea as special as this? And I've always been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh. So I coughed up the $25 and brought one of these menus home with us! Food was sooo good. I loved how warm the scone was when I cut it open. This was one of my favourite items. The sandwiches were amongst my favourites as well. As phenomenal as the experience was, I do think there are a few things which could have improved the experience. For one, a bit more service would have been appreciated. I had to wave my hand in the air to get our server's attention so that I could ask her to refill our tea pots with more hot water. Would have been nice if she'd just come around a bit more often and offered to top it up for us. Tea cozies on our tea pots might have been another improvement. A lot of my tea cooled down by the time I got to it. I like my tea hot but I didn't get in very many cups of hot tea as there was a lot of food to eat and by the time I was ready to pour myself some tea to wash down my food, the tea was...not so hot anymore. Oh, and while most of the food was appropriately sized, there was this one chocolate cookie sandwich that was really gigantic and suggested to be eaten last. We were so full already from all the other foods in the afternoon tea, and then to squeeze that giant cookie sandwich in...right at the end? A smaller and daintier cookie sandwich would have been preferred. It was overall a truly phenomenal experience. Yes, I do think it could have been slightly better, but I do emphasize the word "slightly". The points lost were so minor...I would still highly recommend this afternoon tea to anyone. It was well worth the money. It's offered every weekend for now but not sure how long they'll keep this around so if you're interested in a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea, I'd make a reservation for it ASAP!

We ordered the Dark Spell Latte, Albedo Spritz, and Final Word. The Dark Spell Latte is like an espresso martini with chocolate syrup added, which is pretty solid. The Albedo Spritz is a red wine cocktail with hard liquor, and stood out to me as they had 5oz of alcohol so this was fairly strong, but I would imagine most of the ounces came from the wine itself. I liked the gold dusted blackberry. The Final Word is fruity and smoky, which I enjoyed, but not warrant a hefty price tag compared to the other drinks.
