Let's start here I was asked if I need to add or take away anything in my drink that the very nice stated barista was more than willing to accommodate my change. I was shocked and pleasantly blessed. In my years of patronizing coffee houses over the last 25 years cannot say I was ever given that offer. Love the open modern concept of their floor plan. The extended bench seating is a plus for, as it allows you the opportunity to not on sit at a table but also area to place your backpack, a welcome change from other coffee houses that I visited where I had to place my backpack on the floor. All of the baristas were friendly and welcome questions as I have never been to this particular coffee chain. It was a definite pleasure to see how well maintain the respective tables floors and work area where your beverage is being prepared. The pastries look very fresh the music play is not overpowering just loud enough to not be an annoyance. I saw a steady flow of customers but the customer line moves pretty fast. Very little wait time for your order. I took a chance and ordered an iced Mocha Tesora, a smooth coffee-based with a hint of sweetened cocoa, it was delicious. Love also they have outdoor seating carefully spaced nice for warms days, even evenings maybe after a dinner date. In addition, the no frills internet just clicks right on once I found their Wi-Fi name. I didn't need any secret password or a requirement of a drink minimum. Chase Bank eye shot and literally in walking distance. There is a Jamba Juice, Ramon restaurant, gourmet popcorn shot, Mexican restaurant, and much more in walking distance. I got to say, I LOVE Philz Coffee. It's always relaxing at Philz. It's a great place to study for classes or catch up with friends. This location conveniently has its own parking lot and outdoor seating area with umbrellas. I ordered a double chocolate muffin and the Philtered Soul less sweet and creamy. I love how they give you the option to toast your pastries. They also ask you to try your drink first before you leave just in case you want to modify it in any way. I ordered Philtered Soul beans for my partner so he could take a piece of Philz with him home! If you ask the baristas, they will grind the coffee beans for you, whether if it's for a espresso machine, french press, etc. read more

Finally there's a Philz near me! I've been waiting for one to open in this area for the longest time. Yes, I'm a iced mint mojito addict and love it extra sweet and creamy. I also love their breakfast burrito and pastries! Call me basic but Philz is so good and this new location feels so fresh and new. The design is very minimal, woodsy and with a giant abstract art piece on the wall. The parking can be crowded on the weekends but there is always street parking. First time at this Philz location. Parking lot with ample parking. First Philz I have been to that has parking without a hike. Also plenty of street parking. Service was great. It takes time to make your order, very typical for Philz. Quality requires patience. Freshly ground and a pour over. Picked up my husband's favorite Philtered Soul. Full disclosure, I don't drink coffee but I buy it often for my son and husband. Philz is a favorite. Great atmosphere and vibe. Several were hanging there on laptops. I recently moved to California and as soon as I saw there was a Philz in my neighborhood I RAN! I've seen so much hype about it and of course, Emma Chamberlain drinks it so it MUST be good. As soon as I walked in, the music was good, I was greeted by the 3 girls working and there was absolutely zero wait. I got the Honey Haze and immediately upon my first sip I knew this was the best coffee my tongue has ever tasted. I thought the pricing wasn't terrible - most coffee is quite expensive the way it is so I didn't mind paying the $6. I heard many neighbors talk about this coffee house so I thought I would tried. I have visited twice. My critique: 1. Though their are several coffee options, it was quite over priced. The tea was bit fussy with cardamon and though I like the fresh mint added to iced tea the pricing was a bit outrageous. 2. Not that many vegan options in terms of pastries/etc. Ok bake goods but not fantastic. 3. A bit noisy for tastes and parking not the best. Though they are friendly which I appreciate, having been to all other coffee houses in the area, I greatly prefer Aroma di Roma. This was my first visit to Philz and I already can't wait to come back! Great corner location with plenty of street parking! I came over the weekend and it was nice and clean. It was very popular, there were many people hanging out inside. The menu is short and sweet and I love that they had descriptions too! The employees were GREAT!! I told the cashier that it was my first time and she was kind enough to ask me a couple of questions and make suggestions. I thought that was superb! I ordered an iced Dancing Water and I loved it! I will come back and try some of their specialties and bakery items, because they looked so delicious! The cherry on top is that my order came out quick, and the barista was awesome and asked if my drink was OK and if it wasn't, he was happy to accommodate. They recommended the Honey Haze and the Oatmeal Cookie Cold Brew to my boyfriend and I. I like that they have a scale of how sweet and creamy you can get the drinks. Vibe is everything & this Philz lack it. Coffee's great Cafe's is kept clean While the baristas are not rude, they certainly lack the energy. Smile, greetings and tone make a difference. I tried the Philz in Belmont a while ago so was excited to see a new one up near me. Finally got a chance to try and liked the nice atmosphere and the very friendly and helpful baristas. I opted to try the iced mint mojito drink since it seems to be a fan favorite but YO--this thing is a mint plant with some coffee around it. I thought it might have a slight hint of mint with the garnish on top but didn't realize there was a whole mint BUSH inside the coffee. Blech. It wasn't disgusting but I didn't enjoy it at all. Not sure why it's so popular but I guess if you like a real mint plant taste, it might be for you. I dumped most of mine unfortunately. My wife asked if they could do a chai latte and it was basically a chai tea with a little foam on top. She said it was fine but didn't blow her away either. It's on the South/East corner of Atlantic Ave. & Roosevelt Rd (light). PARKING: Several free street parking spaces available and decent shared parking lot behind the building. I was able to just park on the street right infront of the door. Just be mindful of the traffic. INSIDE: 7 small 2-seater tables located inside along with 2 4-seater tables. Long bench seating that's used for 1 long table (handicap) and 3 small tables. 3-seater bench for those waiting for their orders to go. Power outlets on the bottom of the long bench and several on the walls for the rest of the 2-seater tables. OUTSIDE: Outside fenced patio area with plenty of seats and tables. DRINKS: I didn't get any food, few pastries left (I went in right before closing). I got a yummy large iced Mocha Tesero sweeten with medium cream. I'm definitely getting this again. I'm always leary when a place is fairly new, usually the drinks aren't that great (even if from an established company). That wasn't the case here. It was yummy! Thank God. RESTROOM: Available for customers, just add the batista for the code. SERVICE: The staff were super friendly and totally upbeat. I ordered bread through Too Good To Go and picked it up, but one of the bagels had mold on it. Since the bread wasn't individually wrapped, it seems like the mold spores may have spread to the other breads, so I ended up throwing everything away. I understand that day-old bread is sold at a lower price, but I believe it's unacceptable to sell moldy bread to customers, no matter how cheap it is. Fortunately, I noticed the mold, but if I hadn't, I could have ended up eating contaminated bread and possibly gotten food poisoning. I have been here several times, and the service is always friendly and quick. My favorite drink is the coffee rose. There is plenty of seating. There is street parking right outside, a small parking lot, and a neighborhood street that you can park in if all the other areas are full; that might be a short walk, which are all free. I've been to Philz coffee three times this year so far and honestly, it's a wonderful switch up from Starbucks as I don't support Starbucks anymore. My two favorite items are the mint Mojito and the rosé coffee, preferably iced, the mint Mojito has a nice minty subtileness to the coffee that's not too overpowering meanwhile the rosé, an acquired taste, has a sweet floral flavor to it, both of these drinks gave reminiscence to coffee with a middle eastern touch to it. The baristas were very attentive and they ask you if you want them to adjust your drink after you try it, The inside of the establishment is ideal if you're a student looking for a place to study. They also have a terrace if you want to drink "alfresco" plus it's in a lovely part of Long Beach where you could just take your cup of Philz coffee on the go and take a nice stroll. read more

Absolutely not! This place looked promising between their great location (right around the corner from home - I could walk here it's so close) and their near 5 star review here on Yelp. I came here once and will not be returning! I walked in and nearly everyone in the place began staring at me! There were 3 people working the counter - all staring at me. Then, I turned around and saw that nearly everyone in the seating area was also staring. Maybe because I wasn't a regular? Maybe because I wasn't just here for the wifi? It was unnerving. Now most other coffee shops offer a decent non-coffee menu. Here at Philz, they have a few different iced teas and that's it for non-coffee drinks. Not one blended drink. Disappointing. Came here one time during my shift just a couple stores over..been back at least 3 more times. Staff is nice and very informative. Although I have one closer to home, this one is much closer to work. I've tried the Gingersnap and the mocha. Both were pretty good. I definitely enjoy the mocha much better. Man oh man. Why do people still drink Philz? No info on where there beans come from and all the blends taste the same regardless. I've never been more confused in my life. You sure all these blends are different? Really?? Just because you brew something fresh doesn't mean it's good. If you don't believe me, you can pray to find out in person. Their sweet drinks are cloying and sacrine too so this just adds to my confusion. They don't do espresso because they think that's alternative or something but I'd take any local alternative to this over hyped nonsense any day. Have been wanting to try this place for a while. Ordered the Medium Gingersnaps with medium cream and medium sweetness. Wow, is this a good cup of coffee! They have the option to accommodate any sweetness and creaminess level. The staff was so nice and welcoming and will ask if your coffee needs any adjustments before you leave. I've loved Philz since they only existed in San Francisco. Was thrilled when they started moving down towards LA and love that they now have a second location open in Long Beach! The first location in Belmont Shore is great but not an area I frequent often, this one in Bixby Knolls is a great addition. The coffee is always awesome and they take care to fix it if not. I tried a breakfast sandwich here for the first time (turkey sausage) and it was good... hit the spot for sure. As far as the ambience, there is a Jason Keam mural on the wall, what else do you need to know?!? they have ample seating inside and an outside patio as well. I knew something was wrong the moment I grabbed my cup but doubted myself and left the store just to realize that my drink was a total miss. I ordered a Large Mint Mojito and the drink I got was something totally different: had cinnamon it in and no mint, which was the first miss. Secondly, the size. The cup on the left in my picture should be the large size they have but the one on the right is what I got for my Large Mint Mojito today.
