This was my first time ever visiting a Philz Coffee. The furniture in this particular store is outstanding. There were so many comfortable places to sit, I wish I had a Philz closer to me I would study here all the time! For coffee, I got the Rose coffee. I would recommend it to anyone it is so delish! Although... I had a slight problem which I think was just a mistake but I still feel like I should mention it. I waited 20 minutes for my coffee and I had to ask the woman at the front where my coffee was. But she got on it right away which is why I am not giving this place a lower rating. I just wish they would have noticed or acknowledged that I was waiting and my coffee was missing. She said someone may have snagged it but still wish it was a bit more personable. This location doesn't have any of its staff together, or the ability to prioritize customers. Mindless employee to employee banter, sure! But taking my order, getting my coffee prepared, and out to me - apparently not. We waited in line with 4 people ahead of us for 15 minutes just to order, then when we got to the register (with about 20 people in line behind us), the ONLY cashier decided to go grind coffee beans despite 3 other staff able to do it. The Starbucks around the way was fast, efficient, and had great coffee. Do yourself the favor and just go there. read more

Quick summary: if you have time, want to hand out, Philz is ok. If you want to grab and go, this is not the place. Big comfy couches. Tables with power strips. It's more like the old school cafe' before everything went corporate and "fast food coffee." I can't wait for this pandemic to be over so I can use all this! They have a community mug wall which the environmentalist in me loves. Not ideal during COVID though, I imagine. I know someone who once worked for Phil of Philz and her opinion of him was not the best. So I've pretty much avoided a Philz since although I did once find myself in the original Philz and it's amazing. Today my partner wanted an alternative so here we are. This is not fast coffee. You need to pick all the constituent parts. It can be complicated and it can slow the line. We tried both the plain and almond croissant. Get them heated. Ok so the mocha ... my standard drink. For me, this one is bitter and overly sweet. The request was "medium sweet so I'm curious what sweet is like. My partner for the Tesora and thinks it's strong and also slightly bitter. They make each cup individually which is nice but means you have a long wait for your drink. Whether that's good or bad is up to your schedule. So coffee is a matter of taste. I wasn't really in the mood for coffee but between the oversized Jenga outside and the pride flag in the window, I had to try it. Well, this ain't no darn Starbucks or Peets and that's a good thing. I'd never heard of Philz Coffee until today but a quick Google (well, actually, I use Bing) later and it turns out they have 52 locations. Hopefully they grow and add more locations because my chai tea was absolutely wonderful and I want to come back - I just don't want to drive to Corte Madera every time I want a chai. My biggest complaint with Philz is now that I've had Philz chai I can't stomach Starbucks terrible chai anymore. Oops! I didn't get any of their pastries or whatnot but they looked absolutely delicious. Everyone who works here was genuinely super cheerful and friendly, a pleasant departure from Starbucks "fake cheerful" or Peets "what do you want" attitude. It's worth mentioning if you want to meet a client here, or have a table to yourself, stick to Starbucks - all the tables were used up with people on their laptops. Perhaps I should leave a 1-star review so less people come here and I can have a table all to myself instead of looking for an office to rent? read more

It's a challenge for me to review Philz Corte Madera. People who love Philz, love it. I have never loved their end product (their coffee and tea) but I have always been impressed by their customer service and I appreciate this storefront and what it offers to local students. Philz stands by their product. It's just that I didn't know what to do with my chai tea yesterday, because clearly it was made with enthusiasm and passion, but it tasted awful. It was watery, barely creamy, and hardly sweet. They offered to take my chai back after they handed it to me, and to adjust anything I didn't like. But what if what is wrong with this tea (it's too watery, not strong enough, lacks good crema) cannot be fixed by Philz? After many visits, I've determined I just don't like their tea and coffee. I always find it too watery and not tasty. I sincerely respect their passion about their customers. I do. Customer service at Philz is so well intentioned, you just cannot fault it. Smiles, offers to make it right, invitations to store your mug on the community wall. Everything at Philz is awesome except the coffee. I do like (at the a-okay level) their toast, and think this is a wonderful place to study, with comfy couches and tables & chairs. The store itself has a very nice vibe. Went at 5:20 on a Tuesday and they had closed early and were incredibly rude when I asked why they were closing early.

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE. We ordered 2 coffees online. Drove 20 mins. We waited another 30 minutes for our drinks while people who walked in and ordered at the register were served their drinks in 2 minutes. This happened at least 7 times before our drinks were being made. I could understand waiting 30 minutes if the place was busy like usual, however, it was very slow and 2 baristas were not even making drinks, just chatting and sipping their coffee. On top of all that, the drinks we ordered were wrong and tasted awful. Very disappointed because Philz is almost ALWAYS on top of their game. read more

I didn't know there was a Philz location so far up north, but I loved this place! They have great COVID protocols set in place, despite having so many customers when I arrived. My go-to order is the Rose Latte, not just because of the color but because it tastes so rosy and sweet. I prefer it hot, but love it both hot and iced. Feedback system on the Philz App is inadequate so I'm leaving a review for this location here as well. Staff is rude. I paid for items and left without them twice at this location due to poor customer service. Today it was a sandwich I wanted heated up. Still cold in the middle. I brought it to their attention and there was no apology and no offer to fix it. They agreed to replace it when I asked though! How kind. No one here greets when you walk in. No one says you're welcome when you've said thank you. Just overall very poor customer service experience every time I'm here. Unless the older folks on staff are working. Great coffee, pretty good food/pastry offerings, and a very clean, well-spaced environment to work, with plenty of windows along the walls and wide-open sight/light lines. Wi-Fi is reliable and quick, too--the only downside here is its popularity, if you're hoping to post up with your laptop and get some work done, there's a pretty good chance there won't be any seating available by the time you get there, although the ones without charger access are usually free. read more

Ecstatic for a new Philz location in this shopping center. They used to be in Sausalito (incognito space), and the landlord raised the rent, forcing Philz to find another space. I'm glad they didn't give up, plus I was hounding them, calling on the days that end with a "Y" saying "open, open, open". Squeaky wheel gets the grease! This location is even better, brighter, more spacious, and plenty of parking. Who doesn't love a mint mojito made with love and hella mint? If you grew up in SF, you're loyal to Philz, not Starbucks. Staff are friendly and won't kick you out for staying all day. I love the patio, the pastries, the comfy couches, the ambiance, love everything about this Philz. It's chic and inviting. SO DISAPPOINTING. My sister and I decided to come here after our 6 mile hike on Mount Tamalpais. We were super tired and wanted to get an energy boost before heading back home to the valley. So we ordered two Ecstatics. Large, iced, creamy cream, and sweet sugar. I normally get this drink so I know what it should taste like. While driving home I decided to finally take a sip and SHEESH. Hello Philz addicts. You must be excited to spy a brand spanking new Philz location right HERE at Corte Madera town center. I sure was! The space is big and modern, with a community table that fits 10 people, a few comfy chairs scattered about and some table tops which fits 3. Everyone was minding their own business, bowed down looking at their laptops or cell phones, NO ONE was reading a book. (ha!) who reads a book these days eh? ;-) jk. I love that the signs clearly state where you line up and even when there were only 2 people (us) waiting, we were immediately acknowledged by the staff. One barista was even promoting their app and if we download it and check in, we could get a free baklava. Darn, why am I on lent?! As usual, my decaf Ethiopian (caramel, tropical fruit, chocolate) and his Turkish (Cardamom, herbs, tobacco) were perfect. We took our cups and walked out to the courtyard area and sat by the fountain, enjoying the sun. $3.50 for a cup of bliss. Worth it. read more

The quality of drinks here are so bad compare to the one in SF. I ordered a hot coffee with cream, came out luke warm. I asked for more cream, the barista just poured some cream straight out of the box, not steaming it. I dont she steamed my cream at all, not just the extra cream I asked for, that's why the drink was cold. Very disappointed. I was ecstatic when I heard the news of Philz returning to Marin! When I first found out they were going to be in the former Charles Schwab location I was a bit skeptical about whether it would be a good space for an establishment like Philz. After seeing the transformation and stopping by in person, I was very impressed. It is located on the corner right by the south entrance/exit at the Town Center. There are numerous outdoor tables to enjoy the weather when it's nice out. It seems more tricky to find seating inside since I didn't see a single open seat and a good amount of people were on their laptops who didn't look like they were going anywhere any time soon. I didn't have a problem finding a table outside though. I decided to try a different medium blend than what I usually get. I had my coffee with plain soy milk which was underwhelming. I enjoyed it at first, but the more I had the less appetizing it was. I'll have to get what I normally order or a dark blend next time around. I also want to try their food offerings. On the upside, the baristas were kind and helpful. When it was time to pay, the man behind the counter who I believe might have been one of the managers, was very polite and thanked me for coming in. I drove back to Corte Madera on Saturday 3/14 to get the cards fixed. Philz coffee has my favorite iced coffee drink ever called the mint Mojito it is so good and refreshing. I don't think that the coffee used is very strong because I never really feel the caffeine but it tastes great. It's definitely very expensive because it's one of their signature drinks so I can't exactly get it often when I add almond milk it ends up being seven or eight dollars every time which in my opinion is too expensive for an iced coffee. none the less I do recommend Philz coffee. The structure of the cafés interesting because you order before you pay and then go pick up your order after you've paid which is actually very convenient as your drink is ready once you have paid but it's a little bit confusing the first time you go! read more

From the wonderful people at the counter all the way to the first sip/bite, Philz has it locked down. The sheer amount of people always patronizing this establishment should be enough to peak your interest. But if that's not enough, I can attest that the vast and truly unique flavor profiles across their coffee menu as well as their incredible pastries, food and snacks is more than worth your time. They have a snazzy app that allows you to easily order your drink and pick it up once it's ready. Their drip process is truly amazing and each time I go, I'm in awe of how good their coffee is.
