Went to Sole Proprietor on a Saturday night with a group of six, and the restaurant was packed. We…read morewere seated promptly at a nice round table in one of the rooms off the main dining area. The noise level was comfortable, making it easy to have a conversation. The restaurant has a classic, upscale feel, with dark wood and dark floors throughout. Our server came right over, and we started with three orders of bacon-wrapped scallops ($16.99 for four) to share. They were cooked perfectly and served with a delicious pineapple salsa, which was a unique addition that I had never had with scallops before and really enjoyed. We also ordered a bottle of Belle Glos Pinot Noir from Sonoma ($60) for the table. Our server recommended it as a well-priced, tasty option. I had tried this wine before, so I appreciated the suggestion and was happy with the choice. Most of the table also ordered a cup of clam chowder, which was thick, hearty, and very enjoyable. It tasted like it had bacon bits in it, which added to the flavor. For my main course, I ordered the Crab Stuffed Sole ($42.99), served over rice, with a cup of clam chowder for an additional $3. The fish was cooked well and the portion was generous. The flavor was a little mild, and I would have liked a bit more sauce, but overall, it was a very enjoyable dish that left me feeling full and satisfied. For dessert, I split the tiramisu (approximately $11) with another person at the table. The portion was huge, and even split in half it was a lot. While it was good, it had a little more cream than flavor, but I still enjoyed it. I also ordered a decaf espresso, which I appreciated they had available, although it was not really hot. Our server was excellent: attentive, knowledgeable, and full of energy. Despite the restaurant being very busy, the food came out at a good pace, and we never had to wait long for anything we needed. Overall, this was a great place for a group dinner. The portions were generous, the service was excellent, and the food was enjoyable. The prices are on the higher side, so this is more of a place for a special occasion or an upscale dinner. However, I very much enjoyed my experience and would recommend it.

The food was fine and the ambience was amazing. We were welcomed then forgotten tonight. The…read moreservicer's mind wasn't on her job tonight at all. Sje wondered why we didn't order drinks but left it at that. After 10 minutes she finally realized we couldn't order anything without menus. She forgot to bring them. We ordered, our salads arrived and our meal was prompt. However she'd completely forgotten our drinks. I had to remind her. They didn't arrive until middle of the way through our mains. We had to leave and so I asked for a cork. She forgot again. I ended up asking another waiter as she was out to lunch. Good food, terrible service, way too expensive!!!
