Ordered 3 fish and chips last night 1/16/26 from Foleys. First time and believe me last time. I don't think it was even fresh or frozen fish just old or the cheapest you can get as it was mushy and minced totally awful. Foley's is everything that's good about Worcester crammed onto a tiny corner of Plantation St. it had been 20+ years since I last stopped in, and everything was just as I remembered it. Every memory I had from trips as a kid with my grandfather came flooding back in. It's hard to put a rating on that kind of nostalgia. The food was great, and the service was better. It's been a couple years since I've been here. I have been craving scallops and clams so my boyfriend and I were cheating on MY diet and ordered scallops and whole belly clams. Spent over $40 ( cash only) and it was inedible. The seafood was a blackish grey in color and it was cooked twice, soooo over cooked. the fries were from the bottom of the bag (bits and pieces) and the coleslaw was 69.5 degrees (danger zone) tartar sauce was exactly the size of a thimble. We ordered extra for $.60 each. I didn't temp that, But my guess would be it's not 40' that all cold food should be served. I got a fish and whole belly clam dinner. The fish is pretty consistent whenever I order it. Not the biggest piece but decent size. The clams weren't up to par on this visit. Tasted soggy and not crispy enough. Slaw was good,need to get extra tartar sauce because it's a rather small cup you get. All in all I've been going here for years and always seems to satisfy. I remember reading elsewhere that this little hole in the wall serves more fish on the one day that they are open, than most places do in a month. They do serve lots of fish to lots of people, really fast. I guess that the ladies, by working only on Fridays avoid job burnout. I have lived down the street from this place for 4 years, but today was the first time i have gone there. I was very impressed with the fish and chips I got there. i dont usually like fish, but the haddock was very fresh and flaky, a great cornbread like sweet batter, and very good french fries. I was very impressed with this once a week open fish shop. they have fish and chips, onion rings, shrimp, scallops, and assorted other local seafood. no chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, just fish. but what they lack in variety they more then make up in quality. The fish and chips are reasonably priced. The fish is coated with heavy batter tho but still good. The rest of their menu is pretty expensive but also very good. The service is bad when it's busy and since they're only open on Fridays it's busy almost all day. read more

Had dinner there the other night for the first time... All three of us picked up the fish and chips.. And all three of us agreed. The fish was mushy, and tasted off. They used some spice that was way overpowering and gross tasting... left this aftertaste in our mouths... not even sure if it was a spice... So all I heard is how amazing this place was so I went ,and was so disappointed ill admit great staff and service. Lacked flavor and texture(French fries only). The fish was thick, moist and fresh but had no seasoning in the batter or on the fish so it was very bland, French fries where frozen and unsalted and soggy. It did not come with tarter sauce or salt and pepper or utensils in the take out bag which they didn't tell me so I threw out the flavorless food and bought a fish of sandwich at McDonald's and it was more enjoyable.... If you want to leave here feeling like you paid to be insulted this is the place to go! I went there for the first time ever tonight and I felt rushed and pressured the second I walked in. I didn't get a chance to read the entire menu before a white haired woman rolled her eyes at me and kept asking what I wanted my boyfriend doesn't eat sea food so I quickly scanned the menu for something other than that and found chicken I asked him a few times if that was what he wanted and then placed my order for a chicken and fish meal. Once I paid and sat down to wait the white haired woman immediately started to make fun of me right in front of my face! Complaining about everything I had done since walking through the door! I felt like saying "hello I can hear you and I'm right here!" But instead I asked my boyfriend to grab the food for me to go outside. I refused to sit there and watch myself get made fun of! I will never return here again and I will tell everyone who will listen about this experience. How do you expect to keep customers when ur making fun of them? I can not express how mad this made me. Had not been in many years and home for the holidays I stopped by to see if it was like the old days and wow it was better than I even remember. I had a shore dinner that was to die for... loaded with fish, scallops and clams. The best ever!!
