So I've brought my dog here for a bath twice. The first time was fine. I wish I could say the same for the second time. It was an absolute nightmare.
Before they took him to the back they asked me if he had any behavioral problems. I was honest. I admitted that he was not at all aggressive or vicious, but I advised that he's very hyper, rambunctious and curious. After all, he's a Labrador. He's 11 years old with as much energy as a puppy.
When I got the call to pick him up, I asked if he was well behaved. The employee was hesitant to answer and just said he was barking a lot due to the high volume of dogs that were present that day. She didn't sound too happy with him, but I could understand why.
When I arrived, I said I was here to pick up my dog, mentioning his name, and 2 girls looked at each other. I took that as they were: a) finally happy he was leaving; and b) they were pissed off with his behavior.
The absolute worst part of the experience was when they brought him out. The top of his nose was red and looked inflamed. (See attached picture) I asked what happened to his nose and one girl answered, "ohh it's because he was licking his lips a lot because he was very anxious with all the dogs. You know, like when you lick your lips and they get chapped." Another girl proceeds to chime in and she says, "yeah yeah, he was licking his lips a lot."
First of all, I'm not an idiot and I didn't appreciate that bullshit excuse they gave me. Second, I've had my dog for 11 years and I know damn well his tongue does NOT reach as far as the top of his nose. Third, I would much rather have had them tell me the truth and if he scratched his nose on the kennel or something of the sort, then so what. I know he's hyper. I know he's curious.
This incident occurred a month ago and these are the stages of the extent of the wound. It was first red and inflamed when I first got him back. Roughly 5 days later, it proceeded to scab. After about another 5 days, the scab fell off. And now, almost a month later, the top of his nose is still bright pink and he grows no more fur there.
My dog is so very precious to me and I feel awful for having trusted someone else to provide care to him. It's safe to say I will NOT be coming back here for anything. I'd much rather drive the extra miles to Rosemead where the staff is friendlier and won't lie to you.
If you care at all about your dog's wellbeing, do NOT take your dog here. Take him/her elsewhere where you will definitely feel like your beloved pet is in good, caring hands.
Once again, I have attached a photo for reference of the wound on his nose. read more
