Just a note: My grudge isn't that she wouldn't sell me a fish. She would have, she offered to sell me a betta fish that was already in a cup that was way too small for it because she didn't want to bag a fish. She didn't even ask me what I wanted before denying me. What if I had a turtle? What if I needed the fish to feed it. She saw me, said no and then made up some policy. Had she actually tried to educate me and go over other options I might have bought an entire setup. Because that's what ended up happening I just took my business elsewhere. This petsmart has disappointed me time and time again. From the dog groomers that thought it was ok to sit on the abused dog I rescued from a shelter just to clip her already too short nails to the women who was too lazy to bag a $.29 cent goldfish. They've lost my business, I hope everyone reconsiders and tries to support the smaller family owned pet stores in this area. People who actually care about animals and take time to educate customers instead of rejecting them at first site. I would highly recommend Pet Town in Downey, the gentleman there made sure we had everything we would need and didn't try to oversell us. I ended up spending $200 at other shops, big box stores are scrapping the bottom of the barrel these days. These animals deserve better. read more

I had a good experience here, the staff was nice and helpful. I think they did the best they could. It looked like it was a big shelf-stocking day. This location had some cats for adoption, so that was cool. There are a lot options for cat and dog food. The fish section was pretty full, the woman there was nice. If you want a smooth drop off and pick up for grooming services, this Petsmart location is NOT it. The groomers make the grooming experience extremely overwhelming and difficult, nit pick much? They go above and beyond to find reasons not to provide grooming services. It's like they're working, hoping not to work, i.e. let's reject as many pups as possible so that we get paid to sit around. They literally will use a magnifying glass to find a reason not to groom. This is probably why this store always has available appointments at all hours of the day. The groomers will not go above and beyond to provide exceptional services. They provide the bare minimum. If you decide to take your pup here, make sure to bring the groomers some energy drinks. This is my go-to grooming spot! Every groomer in the salon does a great job on my senior shih-tzu, Sasha. They follow covid protocols and allow one check in at a time in the salon lobby. My dog can be hard to groom and he is comfortable with every groomer there. They are all experienced and he comes out looking so cute every time! I highly recommend the Hempz package for conditioning skin and coat, especially for your fur babies with dry skin. Mid-day shopping was very very busy & the lines were pretty long.. but once i reached the check out i understood why. The cashier, Elan, who helped me was super friendly and helped me set up their rewards program for the deal they had going. I came to the store to purchase food for my pet rabbit and noticed the brand she normally eats had changed its packaging & ingredients. I searched the store for an associate to ask some questions & wondered around for at least at 10 minutes but couldn't locate a single sole. I am extremely upset about how my dog was treated at her grooming appointment. I been taking my dog to PetSmart grooming since she was a little puppy! I should have known things were going to go bad. As soon as I walked in for check-in you can hear other dogs screaming bloody murder, which really frighten my dog. When I picked up my dog, the groomer Karina S. all she did was complain about my dog's behavior according to her I need to teach my dog some manners. My dog is like my child, so you can imagine this really upset me because my dog is trained and anyone who meets my dog can see that she is a total sweetheart. I just think they were just having an over all bad service day or the groomer just didn't have the patience. My biggest concern is that now my dog will have trauma from this bad grooming experience. Thanks a lot Petsmart! Lastly, what bothers me the most is that they put my dog in a "naughty list" where every time I want to book a grooming appointment, I will get charged an additional grooming fee because of my dog's "behavior problems." Also took my Lab Melody for a Furminator bath with Victoria and she hasn't shed at all. I also recently bought a bird for my mom the manager Jessica and Rosie were very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable about the purchase considering it was our first bird. I really like the grooming salon and shopping at this PetSmart. Every time I've ever shopped here, I've been approached by an employee asking if I need any help. And my first time to bring our two dogs to the grooming salon here was on April 9, 2014. The ladies in the grooming salon were great & did exactly what they said they would do for our dogs. In fact, they went above our expectations because the Petsmart in Downey was charging me a higher price for our mixed breed female whereas the Pico Rivera PetSmart charged me a better price because they said she was more the size of an American Eskimo. So they updated that information in the system for me and our mixed female charge was $52 for bathing & grooming. I always ask for the FURminator grooming for her as well because her coat is thick like a Chow Chow. That costs an extra $15. Grooming and bath for our German Shorthair Pointer costs $24.99. I also ask for the nail grinding for her which is $12 because her nails can exceptionally long... I hate trimming her nails myself cause she is so hyperactive. They may be busy at certain times of the year, but when I called it was the end of March and the only time I could personally get them there was a week later. But they had openings a couple days after I initially called. I was surprised by this. Check in and out services are relatively easy. Because I had taken them to a different Petsmart grooming salon before, I did not have to bring in their records again. I definitely recommend this store and grooming salon services to anyone with a furry loved one. But after today, with the continious rudeness i have decided to no longer support or provide my business for this location. The employees have turned rude, unprofessional, and with the last appointment that i had on Sunday June 6th, 2021. It was shown the gratitude they show to regular loyal clients. being late 30 minutes missing my appointing from 8:00am, and i was behind schedule 30 minutes, my employee was turned away with my pet, because they couldn't accommodate my pomeranian. I got a call today for me to bring my pup in @4pm instead (because THEY over booked). This retail store is very organized and clean. Products were easy to find, well stocked and fairly priced. Bought a variety of different products for my 11 week miniature schnauzer, I was very satisfied with selection of quality products offered. The highlight of my visit was definitely the cashier, she was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She took the time to ask questions and make future recommendations. Let me start off by saying that this is probably the WORST if not one of the WORST Petsmart EVER, If I could give it less than a star I honestly would. I had adopted a dog Chuck, through their PetCharities that they have in store earlier the week of February 24th. Now Chuck was severely matted and dirty. The girls at the adoption center said that they didn't know how long Chuck had been on the streets for. So when I adopted Chuck I went into the grooming salon, I asked if they had any available times to groom him the following day, but one of the groomers told me that Chuck needed to be with us for one week to adjust, so I made the appointment for that following Saturday. When Saturday rolls around, I drop him off to get groomed with the grooming manager Pricilla. She asked me if Chuck had any aggression problems, to which I replied none that I know of. She took the dog in and probably within an hour of so, I get a call from pricilla that Chuck was snapping and being aggressive towards her and that I needed to pick him up immediately even though he was only halfway shaved. All while being extremely rude and uncooperative on the phone. She just kept repeating that I needed to come back and pick up chuck. Of course I was upset, Chuck was severely matted. So I asked to be transferred over to the store manager John and maybe they were able to find another groomer with more patience or a solution to this problem. Instead of helping me John sided with Pricilla, while also being rude on the phone. Now Chuck of course is a rescue dog, and the groomers knew that before grooming him. I assumed that they would try and be patient with him. I mean he was a stray, and he obviously been on the streets for a long time. So you'd think that a place like Petsmart that claims to be all about pets would try to comfort the dog who probably had never even been groomed before. So when I get to the store, I walk into the grooming salon where Pricilla was waiting with Chuck. She doesn't even say a word to me, she just hands chuck over to me and expected me to not say anything. All I asked her then is if she was the grooming manager and she didn't even answer. Instead she began yelling at me and my mom that we needed to leave the store and that we were banned from "ALL" Petsmarts simply because we tried to ask her about what had happened with Chuck. All we were trying to do was voice our disappointment with the situation but she never ever tried to hear us out. Now if you are the manager of a department in a customer service oriented environment, you are trained to diffuse the situation and listen to the customer. I know this personally because I too am a manager in a retail store. Therefore I know how a customer should be treated and how a situation like this needs to be handled. Obviously Pricilla, who apparently is the manager of grooming is not well trained at all. She wasn't apologetic, she didn't try and find a solution. Instead she just yelled at us claiming that Chuck had hurt her. She even showed us her arm and guess what? There was nothing there. We left because she didn't even attempt to hear us out, So we asked to talk to john ( The store manager) . When we talked to john about what happened he also wan't apologetic and was also not very helpful. Obviously his leadership skills are nonexistent, which is why his grooming department is such a mess. When we told him about her yelling at us it seemed as if he didn't believe us and was very nonchalant the whole situation. He even called us aggressive, I wasn't yelling but i was upset. How else was i supposed to be? Happy? Smiling? This girl pricilla just butchered my dogs hair. He was still matted from the bottom half of his body and on top of that, scared! How was is that I was able to get Chuck groomed later that day with another groomer if he was "aggresive"? Simple, it is because these groomers are not trained properly and obviously not patient with dogs or anything for that matter. I would never feel comfortable leaving any dog in their care, who knows what they do to these dogs when you drop off them off. All I have to say is shame on you Pico Rivera Petsmart and if you're even thinking about taking your dog grooming here. Think again. read more

Valerie, a sales associate, kindly cautioned me there was a large German Shepard in the grooming salon area in case my cat was scared. I really appreciated that. This review is for the guy that was working on 12/9 around 12:30pm specifically in the room with the cats that are up for adoption. I was already having a rough day and decided to go shopping with my kids and my 2 year old loves animals and asked to go to Petsmart. We went in and looked around and then saw the cats and he was excited just looking at them but wasn't tapping the glass or being loud or anything when an employee came out of the room and stormed the door open and angrily yelled at me "this isn't a zoo!" and closed the door as he went back inside quick. I could hear from inside him repeating "this isn't a zoo!". Just a reminder to be kind to people, you never know what someone is going through. And yes, it isn't a zoo and although I didn't intend to buy anything today, I have always shopped at Petsmart including this location and it makes me sad to know that some employees are like this. read more
