I Love Bark n Bathe Sooo much. David is like my dogs master at this point , we've been coming here for almost 10 years total (with all my pups! ) and about 7 years with my husky . I will not take them anywhere else ever, I literally drive about an hour and a half to get here 4 times in the same day (back and forth commutes ) and it is extremely worth it. Nobody treats my pups better, David is the most caring and genuine I've gotten to know him over the years and I highly recommend. We are very lucky to have people like him who truly care about the animals, and put in the time and patience when needed. Used to bring my dog here quite often but haven't been here in a while. Came 11/21 and looked like the big room we use had been remodeled . I have a Great Dane(130lb) and it came out to $40 for the self wash. Getting into the tub was ok but the ramp itself was rocky, not to mention that the new flooring is slick tile. As my dog was getting out of the tub , he slipped off the wobbly ramp and also skidded under the bench that was across. Due to the poor grip and wobbly ramp he got hurt An employee came after he heard me scream and asked what happened. After I told him he had slipped off the ramp, he just walked away. He never asked if he was ok nor did he offer any type of assistance. I'm very disappointed to say the least and I'm glad he didn't break anything. Just some scrapes for now. I'm worried this fall may have traumatized him and will no longer want to be bathed at other locations. I would avoid this unprofessional establishment for the sake of your furry friends read more

Place was absolutely grotesque. The self serve section was dirty, hairy and had slippery washing bays. I only went because my dog needed a shower asap after a trip. My poor dog slipped on the ramp 2 times and fell off trying to climb in the shower so I had to pick him up to get him in safely. They have some fabric leash tie offs that are disgusting. Not only that but all the brushes, soap bottles and washing bays were full of hair and soap. I doubt it was even cleaned between washes. Staff were friendly but that was about it. I will not return due to the lack of cleaning and the ridiculous ramp that I see multiple dogs slip off. read more

This is my go-to place for dog grooming. They always make time for our dog and leave him looking and smelling really clean. Our dog is excitable and definitely on the aggressive side with other dogs. But they handle him really great and with care. We never have any issues coming here and always leave with a clean, freshly groomed and happy puppy. The prices are reasonable, we always get a deshedding treatment for our dog. That said, they've got really busy as of late so expect to get an appointment a week or so out. Best of all is their location. They have plenty of parking along Greenleaf Ave and they also have parking behind the shop where there's also a back door. read more

Great spot to bathe our fur baby. It's room temperature so he doesn't shiver. Water is warm. It's at waist level so we're not bent over for an hour. They have clean towels, clean/neat station, shampoo, conditioner, ear ointment and cotton. Separate station for drying and blow drying in the same room. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very convenient parking in the back area. Only 3 downsides, but the location is still worthy of 5 stars. 1. It was CASH ONLY for self-service dog wash that I didn't know about until I was really to pay (I called a day ahead too). 2. The hose nozzle didn't have a 'soaker' option ... well it wasn't like we weren't going to stay dry anyway. LOL 3. Price ... $25 read more

Best groomer in town. They know Ringo and treat him like their own. Whether it's summer cut or winter cut. They make him very handsome!

I used the self serve washing station. I don't really trust anyone with my pup so to hear that was an option was extremely convenient since I live in Whittier. We called ahead and they explained no appointment is needed for the self wash station, towels/blow dryer/soap is provided, and they charge based on dogs size and time. So For my girl who is 15 pounds we paid $15 dollars. To enter you just walk up the stairs in the back parking where they have a door stopping any escape artist. You then walk down the hall to a front desk and pay. The guy who helped me guided me to the station and explained everything. He even let me use our own shampoo we brought in. Everything was clean and the water pressure was gentle/ warm. They also have music playing in the background which I appreciated. I'll bring my girl back from now own. read more

For those of us with giant hairy dogs this is a great option if you want to do-it-yourself. I've taken my Saint Bernard twice now and both times we used their private room. My dog can be a little cranky around other dogs so having our own space is perfect. My boy is about 160lbs and his shedding is over the top. When we're done we've completely destroyed their room. Fur is EVERYWHERE and I always feel bad for the mess. The employees are so helpful and kind and never make me feel bad for leaving such a disaster. Thanks so much!!! read more

Today was a beautiful, sunny, Southern California spring day in Whittier. Being Cesar Chavez Day (viva la causa), I had the day off work. I decided to take a break from TDW (the dissertation writing, not to be confused with The Walking Dead) to take Razta to the groomers. I opted to drive because I didn't want it to be a super long break... Finally find parking behind Bark 'N Bathe (the parking areas were super busy for a weekday) and walk Razta up to the counter. The groomer greets us and recognizes her. He says something along the lines of - oh the usual? short cut with the mohawk, right? - Yup! I have been bringing her to this groomer for about one year and a half. She is always happy when I pick her up and sometimes when we are walking the town she pulls me into the door as we pass by... a good sign of a good establishment, any dog parent would tell you! As I'm leaving her, I get this tightness in my stomach and I think about the bad Yelp reviews I've seen about this place - about doggies getting injured. I reassure myself that Razta has been here plenty of times, loves it, and will be OK. I get to TDW place and think to myself, today I will write a good review for this great establishment. I think, I will not be salty for one day (most of my reviews or drafted reviews are based on negative experiences and can be interpreted to have a salty tone). I will write a positive review about the great service, the somewhat decent prices (although increasing recently), the good smell, and how awesome Razta looks after her visits! I get sucked in to TDW and before you know it, I have a call from BNB informing me Razta is ready. Without an appointment, I dropped her off around 10am and she was ready by 2:30pm. Not bad. On past visits I have dropped her off without an appointment at 9am and picked her up at 4 or 5pm. I have also made an appointment and she has been ready within 3 hours. The time varies depending on how busy they are and possibly other conditions. I arrive and pay with my bank card. The attendant brings Razta out to the counter. She is shaking (Razta is). The attendant informs me that there is a small scratch or burn on her belly and that maybe it's due to Razta having been scratching but they put baby powder on it and it should be OK. Razta gets really fidgety so I can't inspect the area closely. I leave wondering, scratch or burn? Which is it? She has been scratching? Nope, I haven't noticed her scratching. Hm... I get home and as I try to inspect closer, she refuses to go belly up and is guarded when I try to hold her leg. She hides under the couch and refuses to come out. After some time alone and some coaxing, I finally convince her I mean no harm. I am able to gain her trust again and see a red patch of skin with open abrasions on her leg, a second patch on her belly, a third patch on the other side also on her belly, a fourth patch on her other hind leg, and a less red patch on her chest. I call and the woman whom I believe to be the owner answers. I tell her I was advised of a small scratch possibly even a small burn, but this is way more serious than that. She demands that I bring in Razta for closer inspection. I tell her I will not bring in Razta again to the place where she was injured, I will take photographs of the injuries, and I will seek veterinary care. She asks me to bring her so they can fix it. I tell her they can't fix the injuries because they are groomers, not vets. She says they can refer to a vet. She asks me to send her photographs of the injuries. I return to the location and demand a refund. I am hoping the groomer won't show his face because then I won't be able to contain my anger and I might say some mean things... The attendant views the photographs and the owner comes out and views the photographs as well. She tries to convince me that Razta will be OK and that I just need to rinse with cold water. I ask why they would put baby powder on an open wound and she doesn't have an answer for me. I take the high road and ask for my refund again. I tell her I don't want to argue and I don't want trouble. I am upset about what the groomer did and I won't pay for it. She processes the refund to my card immediately. In the spirit of trying to not write a salty review: I appreciate the owner's professionalism and I do hope they find a more competent groomer... I'm certain the owner has the same thing to say about me. read more

This place was alright. It was open later than the other self-serve dog wash locations. My dog is a sweetheart but she's old and shy. Luckily we got our own room in the back, but she couldn't get up the steep, slippery ramp. The blow dryer was just cold air which only served to scare my already rattled dog instead of dry her. The prices were ehh and the location was weird. It doesn't say "Bark and Bathe" outside, it just says "dog grooming" or something. But they gave me treats to calm her down, which was nice :) read more

If you have a fun, playful, energetic and kind dog, don't bring them here. They cannot handle playful dogs. My dog was banned from this place. Honest review: The groomer (David) is awesome and very nice. The owner of this place has been using a bait n switch method with her customers for years now. They tell you one price then raise the price at pick up. And raise the price by a lot. It was very disappointing to receive the notice via text rather than in person at pick up. I don't review unless I feel like I need to warn others. DO NOT bring your dog here. I had a few hours to spare before work and wanted to get my small maltese/yorkie of 5 months bathed and cleaned up for the weekend. I called around 3pm and they made a huge deal saying they never take anyone this late and would be okay taking a last minute appointment at 3:30. They were near me and available so I took her. While on the phone I asked an estimated amount for the grooming and the girl said it would be $50 as long as my dog wasn't to much to handle and there was no matted hair. My had been groomed before and I had already been working on her getting used to scissors so I didn't think there would be a surge charge according to her comments. I get there and introduce my dog and she then tells me that they are going to charge me $65 without any real rhyme or reason- saying my dog wouldn't be used to them so she was going to be hectic- (So now they think they know my dog more then I do) Mind you the whole time the girl gave me the worst attitude because I was the last client and now she "was going to stay late" (her boss agreed to take the job which now means it doesn't matter she should take and do the same quality of job as if it were the first dog of the day). Once I pick up my dog I regret the moment I left her in their hands . My dogs hair is patchy, feels stubbley and her whiskers and eyebrows have been cut. Being that they are groomers they should know the type of cuts yorkies require. (Mind you the dog groomer said he had no problem with her) My dog has a very uneven cut and patches all over. I really dislike my dogs cut and am definitely never bringing her there again and I don't recommend you do either. read more
