I dropped off my dog Minnie and told the woman to do the same shave as last time, and specifically to not pull Minnie's ear hair because she gets infections easily. The lady said my groomer was at lunch but that she would make sure it was taken care of. Sure enough, they pull her ear hair and she has an infection in her left ear. Never bringing her to Petsmart grooming again, I've given multiple locations over multiple states opportunities in the past and this is the final one. Will be finding a local groomer who listens and relays the information to the groomer rather than dropping her off with someone who is not the groomer who does not relay the information to who will be caring for my dog's individual needs. Poor communication between staff can be easily resolved. read more

I took my 14 year old Chihuahua there faithfully every month for her nail trim, the last time I took her they took her in the back to do it. I was a little upset due to reading where animals were dying and I was not able to see her. The manager said that the groomer was new and blew it off. Well, during the quarantine I called to get her nails trimmed and was told "only if you buy a package: a bath, blow out, nail trim" starting at 39.95 now mind you I pay almost $20 to get her nails trimmed there. I saw other people on facebook complaining about the same thing. Well guess what Pet Smart, you just lost a valued customer and I will never bring my dog to you again. You can wash and bathe my dog but you can't trim her nails without a bath? Perhaps it is time for new management as I have never had trouble here until the last 6 months or so. We have since gone elsewhere for half the price and better CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

What a total lack of responsibility! My 10 year old saved and saved to buy his 1st aquarium. We took our time and got the tank stable and happy. We purchased a couple of fish at this store last Friday. They died the 1st day, and then the rest of the fish all died of a horrible fungus within a few days thereafter. We went to our usual store on Gilbert and Germain where we explained what happened. Mary (the Manager) and Stephanie, were fantastic. They explained that the fish we purchased probably had a bacterial infection. When I told them that the sick fish came from their other store, they explained that there was nothing that they could do, and called the other store. The Manager on Chandler Blvd told Stephanie that they would not do anything for us. They also made it very clear that the infection most likely came from the new fish. I want to commend they staff at Gilbert and Germain. They were very kind and understanding to my son, and warn everyone NEVER to buy fish (or anything else) from the Petsmart on Chandler Blvd and the 101! The sell diseased fish and take no responsibility for their actions. My son learned a hard lesson about customer service, responsibility, and integrity and is looking forward to sharing his experience with all who will listen! Again.. As much as I dislike shopping at the big chain stores, in a pinch, this place has what I'm looking for at any given time. I do appreciate that they host adoption events, and they hold cats from local rescues in the store everyday, so other than my wishing the cats had more room to roam (yes, I know, unfortunately it's not really practical in a retail space) - this store gets my approval. Everything is clean, the dog training classes are well-managed, most of the popular items are well-stocked, and most of the employees can actually help when asked for assistance. I also like that you can donate money to shelters right at the register when you're paying, so there aren't any extra transactions. I've only had one or two experiences with the vets in the Banfield Veterinary side, but the staff was nice, helpful, and accommodating - despite wanting to upsell some of the procedures and pushing to schedule future visits. This store also has a grooming room, which seems to always be busy, so I can only assume they are thorough and attentive to the dogs brought in - however I have no personal experience with it. Overall, while I'd rather shop at the local pet stores, if I can't find what I want there, I'll come here, and I have yet to have an unpleasant experience! read more

(I would like to preface this with that I hardly ever complain about customer service. I understand people have bad days or get frustrated but this is just horrible) I went in today with 3 returns and I was honestly so surprised and disgusted with how the cashier and the manager treated the situation. Like I said, I had 3 returns, all three transactions were done within the last week. Unfortunately, I lost my receipts but Petsmart has receipt lookup so it's not that big of a deal. Well, when I told the older woman I didnt have my receipts, she sighed and started complaining. During the first return, she was complaining about how things were damp and couldnt be resold (aquarium supplies). I did my best to clean them off and dry them, but she was complaining the whole time. During the second and third returns, ot was the same thing. These returns were for aquatic plants, and when I was trying to explain the plants to her, she wasnt listening and was complaining to her manager right on front of me. Even the manager was saying snarky, rude comments. I was taken aback at how bad the customer service is here. I'll be getting in contact with the regional manager because this behavior is unacceptable. I understand that doing 1, let alone 3 returns is frustrating, but don't complain in front of the customer! read more

We are now training with Chris at the Petsmart in Chandler and we are very impressed. He's a wonderful trainer and loves the pets. We have been to 3 sessions with Chris and our fur babies are adjusting very well to people and other dogs!!! This is exactly what we wanted and Chris promised me after 5 sessions it would happen. 2 more sessions to go and we are thrilled to then continue with group training at Petsmart!! I take my two small pups in this store all the time; they love to play with the birds, Guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, turtles, and various other animals that are in that particular store. We also buy occasional treats. One of the cashiers always talks to us about our common interest in the same breed of dogs- been a fun outing, especially on hot, cannot be outside weather, like it is the majority of time in the area. A couple months ago the dogs were crying, because they desperately wanted to play with the birds. An employee jumped down my throat. I explained my dogs love the animals & we always play here, even in front of managers; however, I backed the animals up. The dogs then went to the rodent section & ran back & forth a few times, but were not super close as I held them back. The same employee scolds me again- um... no way were we even close enough to cause panic. My husband just went to pick out new beds & the clearanced dog beds are right next to the animal cages. A male employee got after him- sorry Petsmart, but if you are STUPID enough to have animal cages on the ground, then deal with it. Animals are curious & of course they are going to run around & sniff some. I am sick to death of 16 year-olds telling me what to do with my own animals; if you don't want to deal with dogs change your name to something else & get the Fu*# outta town!!!!! read more

Have to take my dog in at 11 WITCH IS WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMWNT... now it is almost 3:00PM.. how long do you think it takes to shave a dog? 30 mins? So my old dog with VERY bad joints has been made to lay in a crate for all this time. The cashier decided it was appropriate to tell me that pit bulls don't get adopted because of their "tendencies" & then goes on to tell me how pitbulls will turn on their owners without any warning at all... All this while petting my well behaved adopted pitbull. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It was extremely rude & terrible customer service. I did tons and tons of research on bearded dragons. Most of the research said to never buy one from a pet store because of their lack of knowledge on them and the poor care they take of theirs. Keeping the warnings in mind, we headed to to one just to check it out. Chris was working and greeted us in a super friendly matter as soon as we vegan to look in the aquariums. He knew so much about all the reptiles and took time to show us plenty of different reptiles, telling us all about them. He was so helpful and gave us detailed answers and advice for our new pet. He was definitely the most helpful person I have encountered while shopping in a long time! read more

We were a little hesitant to bring our dog here due to the mixed reviews, but we had a great experience! We brought our shy lab mix in yesterday to get a bath and trim her nails. Since we rescued her several months ago, she has not let anyone clip her nails, but the groomer was very patient and kind to her. Thank you! She looks great! My dog and I love going to this PetSmart location! We have used both the training and Banfield (the pet hospital) at this location. PetSmart Training- *Chris is the best and has a solution to almost any situation! *My dog LOVES visiting with Chris. If my dog and I are at PetSmart when we are not going for a class she gets very excited and wants to go into the training room! *Even if I have not enrolled my dog into a class for a while I can still as Chris training questions Banfield- Piece of advice, enroll your animals in one of the health plans. We have saved THOUSANDS of dollars by doing so especially when our dog was a puppy. The puppy plan included all the vaccinations and getting her fixed. We had an incident with our dog where she had something wrong with her ear. I took her to Banfield and then realized Banfield had just closed. I was debating if I should take my dog to the Animal Hospital right up the street then I saw one of the receptionists come out of the back. I said "I know you guys closed down a little bit ago but I am not sure what to do, could you look at her ear and let me know what you would do about this?" She told me not to worry and she went in the back to get a nurse. The nurse looked at her ear and told me this was something that would be ok to wait until tomorrow for (since the doctor was gone for the evening). I was so thankful for them taking the time after hours to look at her. Two things to be aware of-sometimes it takes a while to get into a room or for the doctor to come in (which is out of their control) & they are not 24 hours (which is also out of their control since PetSmart itself is not open 24/7) read more

After adopting our new puppy Petsmart has been a frequent stop for both me and my boyfriend, and frankly we have been pleasantly surprised with the level of customer service at this location. When we arrived with out new dog the cashier remembered that we were getting a puppy and was so excited to see her! We made out way to the food where another team member helped us pick out the perfect food for our new pup, and then we migrated to the crate area where the manager approached us after noticing our confused looks with all the crate options. He then took us to the toy aisle, helped us pick out training treats, found a shampoo for our girl and brought all of it to the register for us. Needless to say we left thinking "that was a great experience!" Since then I have made a few pit stops for random items. One of them being carpet cleaner for pet stains, I had one in mind but the cashier actually recommended a better brand (which I opted for) and when I got home I googled reviews stating it was the better product and has worked great for us. Yesterday I went to buy chewing treats to help with her puppy teething, I was checking out, rawhide treats in hand, when the cashier casually mentioned that rawhide at such a young age (or ever) may not be the best choice for a number of reasons. He escorted me to better choices and I feel much more comfortable being more informed and giving our puppy a better option. All of the little things combined are why I rate this location so highly. I was having serious barking problems with my dog. We had initially went to the store to get a barking zap collar to stop him. We ended up talking to the dog trainer Becky. She was so helpful and she was able to determine that our dog has anxiety and she gave us so many helpful tips. She had us try the pheromone collar and also had us get our dog a few interactive dog toys to keep him busy while we crate him. We will be trying her 6 week training program as well. read more

I got my dog from the pound a few months ago. He was abandoned in the desert and is completely unrefined - but has a great spirit! I took him to a groomer in downtown Phoenix near my office and within 10 minutes, the groomer called and told me to come pick up my dog. He had gotten out of the harness and bitten the groomer. I waited a couple of months before trying to take him to a groomer. I recently moved into the area and decided to try Petsmart Chandler. When I arrived, the staff didn't seem very friendly. But once I started speaking with them, they are nice gals! I warned them of my little guys unruly behavior and how he was kicked out of his last grooming appointment after 10 minutes. Long and short, I got a call three hours later that my dog was ready...I couldn't believe it; I didn't expect him to last longer than 10 minutes. When I arrived, the staff explained he did great and mentioned he gets a little snippy when they attempted to get near his paws, but worked with him and got the job done. My little unrefined pound puppy looked VERY happy with these talented ladies, giving them lots of licks as they were handing him back over to me. I will definitely be going back. They did a great job with a very difficult dog. read more

BEWARE!!! I took my goldens here and had a terrible experience. My dog was here for almost 5 hours and when I asked when they got started -the groomer responded and said that because she was the only cat groomer - my dog had to wait. What is the point of having an appointment? My dog had to sit in the cage and wait for random walking appointments? I recorded videos of the last 20 minutes and my dog was rushed. I am a very loyal user of Petsmart--all of their services, products,Banfield Health, grooming and pethotel. I am a very satisfied customer of all the above. However, the company policy of coupons (printed out after you have taken the time to do an online survey) is cheap and very unuser friendly toward loyal patrons. Tiny exclusionary print obviates almost all coupons,and the print option (of the coupon) is unclear to the person printing. For such a large--and successful--chain, this is a slap in the face to customers who are satisfied with all else the company provides. read more

I came in to pick up bedding for our little rat Princess. I grabbed the 23L size and headed to the checkout. It rang up as $18.99 but with my discount it should have been $12.79. I told the cashier that and she told me I was wrong. I paid, then told her I was going to look just to be sure. The shelf I got it from clearly said the 23L size was $12.79, but there were also five other prices for very similar bedding... it was puzzling how they could put similar items on a shelf and have so many different prices. I signed my German Shepherd puppy up for training at Petsmart and had such a great experience with the puppy class that I enrolled my dog in the intermediate training session. The class is a lot of fun and we learn something new each week. The trainer Devan is amazing! She is patient, energetic, and really takes the time to review everyone's concerns and goals. It was super helpful when she brought her own dog--well-mannered and calm--to the class to demonstrate how to perform tasks. I hope that her dog goes to every class, because it helps my dog learn how to socialize properly. My puppy would bark and lunge when walking by a dog because she wanted to play with them and was frustrated that she was on leash. In the class, we got to practice walking by Devan's dog to show my dog that she doesn't need to react when she sees another dog - this was incredibly helpful. I am amazed at how far my dog has progressed in her training since we started. I highly recommend Devan and her sidekick Marble as your trainers! read more

The grooming salon doesn't actually check Banfield for rabies. Had appointment scheduled and in advance I took off work and everything. When I booked the appointment they said my dogs rabies was expired and I told him he goes to Banfield. The girl said she would get off the phone and go over there and get his new certificate. I didn't hear anything so I Soum all is well I showed up for my grooming appointment or both of my dogs and I taking off work to and brought my three kids in (had to wake them up and everything) only to find out they never went and got his rabies certificate and it was expired Banfield got him in the same day but the grooming salon would not groom him since he had just gotten a shot. They want me to bring him back two days later I'm never going to go back there. They should've checked for his rabies certificate like they said that they would when I booked the appointment. read more

For the Grooming Department: I took my 10 week Shih Tzu for her hair cut appoitment. The associate helping us, Samantha, talk to us then went to another customer. Another associate asked if had already been helped when "Samantha" rudely told her she was doing it. Samantha was rude again to her co-worker when she tried to help a different customer and touched her computer. Samantha finally returned to us, making a snide remark how she had to start over on the computer. When I told that I would like my puppy shaved for the summer, Samantha immediately countered back with that's not recommend because "shaving her puppy coat can make her adult coat grow in rough". My husband said well that's ridiculous, Samantha's attitude turned on us; stating "it's not ridiculous I do this for a living." Well for everyone's reference it is recommended to shave the puppy because the hair is so fine and easily matted. She finally listened to what I wanted for my dog. And when I picked her up the hair cut was all uneven. NOT worth it! read more

Don't come here if you want friendly service... or service at all. We came in to pick out some more fish to add to our aquarium. After looking around for a few minutes and choosing - without any staff offering to help even when they walked by and made eye contact - we then waited to have our fish taken from the tank. I made eye contact with an employee (girl with shoulder length brown hair). Instead of coming to help, she looked at me, moved from her lounging position near the register, and started walking the opposite direction. So, giving her the benefit of the doubt that maybe she has bad eyesight, I walked over and politely asked if we could have some help because we want to purchase fish. She smirked and smugly said "yeah sure" then walked away. We were so insulted by her absolute lack of courtesy that we left. Not only did she leave us hanging, she left her coworker to handle the line of customers while she leaned near the counter and/or actively avoided helping customers. Further proof that large corporate chains aren't worth a thing. We should've known better. Oh well, I guess I should say thank you to the horrible, awful employee for proving to is that we should never shop at any Petsmart again. read more

i bought my cats there and i went in the back and there were cats everywhere. that was kinda cool. i buy my dog and cat food there i had a rat but he died and the food there was so so bad we bought rat food and there were bugs in it it was so gross about 30 bugs eeewww i took it back we never bought it again never buy tropical mix ever they relapsed it with a different brand it was fiesta mix it was great! read more
