Aaron B is the best groomer I've taken my three-year old cavapoo to. We have been to countless groomers and none have compelled me to write a review. Aaron deserves special praise for his kind and calm demeanor and adorable teddy bear cut he did for her. She went from scruffy to princess and came out so happy, which tells me the care he took with her. I'm obsessed and have found my new groomer! Aaron has a real talent and gift with animals. When I took her out with me for errands we got lots of compliments. I joke about Millie knowing that she's cute -- thank you Aaron for dolling her up! read more

I've had my dog boarded here several times and have had no issues. I dropped him off for one night and included his food and instructions. I portioned out his food with instructions that he gets 1 portion the night I dropped him off and in the morning the following day. If all of the flights were on time, I would pick him up around 6 and feed him when I got home. In case of any flight delays, I included an extra 3 portions of food. I picked him up and all of the food was gone. Why go to the trouble of portioning out his food and writing up instructions if no one is going to pay attention? I mentioned that my dog was on a particular weight management food. Think I'll start shopping elsewhere for pet boarding for the future. read more

The place has gone down hill fast but I can understand since upper management is useless and they don't help at all. Not to mention how one day I overheard a conversation happening where a person was yelling at the staff member. When they hung up I asked how made was that person. She responded that it was my manager. I was upset because he was yelling and saying things that were unprofessional. I wanted to know his name but they wouldn't give it to me and forget about calling corporate since they dont answer either. I can now see why people leave this place and they have to hire more people. Maybe it's your useless leadership team that needs to get fired since I bet they don't know what the day to day is. Now I hear the manager was fired but it should have been the rude one on the phone. Then they bring in new people and they look miserable and unapproachable. We recently started bringing our dog, Lucy, there for day care and boarding. Today, she had an amazing time. When we walked into the building, she pulled us toward the front desk, eager to play with her friends. Her reaction to the staff and the facility is joyous, tail wagging delight. The staff is professional and attentive. When we boarded her, she had her own suite with a television and cot. I called every day to ensure she was doing well and was given a detailed account of her well being, as well as periodic pictures and summaries of her play time with her pals. Leaving your pet with strangers is worrisome, but I've consistently found Lucy reluctant to leave the facility when I pick her up. I look forward to many happy visits for my fur baby. read more

This place really crapped out. I took a tour at the busiest time back near the holidays and when the caring manager Cristina who I spoke to cared and could talk to me about the place you can see through the glass. Now that she is not there anymore it's full of rude people, mind you the picture below there is a dog on the other side of that. They lost a dog near the Fourth of July due to lack of caring and common sense. They also have had multiple pets injured. Run away and I will definitely not be bringing my dog here as planned months ago. I cancelled after retaking a tour and the staff being so cold. The place is absolutely filthy. Also don't even be fooled by the google reviews. They clearly have to accept what reviews were given since me and a couple others attempted to leave reviews there and they somehow are not posted. Since google they can filter those out and delete them this is the rawness behind this resort that was being built back up but now is torn back apart. I set up boarding for my dog and stopped by before the dates scheduled to tour. The lobby was all but empty of product, the kids at the counter were having a personal conversation while I waited. They acted inconvenienced by my wanting a tour. I was taken into a large warehouse area where there were rows and rows of kennels. The urine and feces smell almost took me out. The old/dirty mop buckets and hoses blocked the isles and no one was out there cleaning. Hardly any dogs inside or outside and this was summer so should have been full. I'd booked the top suite that was to have included a toddler bed, Tv, "view" etc. I was taken to the back wall, and disgusted. The kennel had NO bed other than the raised steen type. The TV was an old fashioned 19 inch or so one and sooo covered in dog fur that had clearly never been cleaned in years, was was mounted up on top of the wall facing out to the kennel. It wasn't working I was told. The back wall appeared to have had painting or wall paper on it sometime several years before, and The plexi-glass door had dog lick and nose prints on it from months of dogs and felt like grease when I ran my finger down it. I was told when I asked if they ever cleaned it, that "this kennel WAS clean". I immediately left canceling my reservation on the way out. I asked to have a manager call me, and that never happened, sent an email to corporate with no response. Told them that their false advertising on the website, and was told by the girls up front that "that website is like 16 yrs old and they keep telling "them" it needs to be updated". Pet owners, if you use them, and/or are looking for Holiday boarding PLEASE take a tour before leaving a pet there. I've seen nicer boarding at a Humane Society. Buyer beware. read more

Did a tour a few months back and finally did a full day of day care today for my 1yr old black lab and it was amazing!! They were so sweet with him and told me how he was during the day and even told me how much they all loved having him! My pup is a big shy guy and they took the time to help him feel comfortable and safe enough to be as happy as he is in these pictures I got at pick up! I will definitely be bringing him back here! Overall the boarding seemed to be a good experience for our 5 month old puppy. She weighs about 30 lbs. I posted pictures of the Casita (small), Casa grande (large), and suite. There is not much of a price difference. You can pay for extra play time for an additional $5 per day. They break it up into big and small dog groups. I posted a picture of the small dog group. They also feed the dogs with their own food and put some flea/tick repellent on the back of the neck. Bathes are an additional cost. Overall we were satisfied with the care our dog got for the 2-3 days she was there. read more

New management is in the business of surprise charges and poor business practices. This is a bummer because my dogs seem to enjoy this boarding facility. I received a confirmation call the day before their arrival and was told all of their vaccines are good to go and they're ready for boarding. When we dropped them off the next day, they sprung a $15/dog charge for flea and tick treatment. No mention of this whatsoever in the booking or confirmation process. I had to leave for the airport so I left them there. I did not agree to the charge. I brought this issue up again at checkout and they did not want to do anything about it. I never signed for the charge so I will be reporting the charge to AMEX unless the new management reaches out to me in 48 hours. read more

We've been with Pete & mac's since 2013 and our fur babies love it. They know the parking lot and get so excited when we pull in to drop them off for daycare. When our pup passed away, the staff was super sweet and heart broken for us too. We recently rescued a boxer puppy and they welcomed him with open paws too. Our boy is highly energetic and doesn't move when he comes home from school. I feel confident the staff looks after our fur babies like their own and trust them completely when boarding them. read more

I live 1 block away from this place. I constantly hear employees screaming at the top of their lungs "SHUP UP". It honestly sounds like a dog pound. Dogs are constantly barking as if they're scared or helpless. Nights and morning you can hear a constant bark of different dogs. Over and over and over. Helpless barks. I do not recommend Pete and Mac's for grooming services. During my recent experience at the Gilbert location, the staff was unprofessional and inappropriate. They do not value their repeat customers. I had been taking my dog to Pete and Mac's in Gilbert for the last year because I was initially impressed with their deshed treatment and grooming service. When I recently called to re-schedule my dog's next appointment, I was notified that my dog is not allowed to get groomed there anymore. No one I spoke to on the phone that day could explain why and I was told the groomer on staff would not groom my dog anymore. I asked to speak to the manager. Two days later, Cara called me and said that there were "issues" previously at check out, and my dog and I are "not a fit" for their business. This is incredibly disheartening and disappointing because I have never had any personal issues with my grooming services at Pete and Mac's. There was one situation when I requested and paid for a deshed treatment, but my dog was still shedding hair immediately after. I brought this to the business and a manager's attention, and I was given a percentage off my next grooming service and credited back for the deshed treatment. In another situation, I inquired why my bill was more than the previous bill to understand the breakdown of the costs. When I politely asked for an explanation, the front desk could not answer the question. They deferred to the groomer, whom I had never met or spoken to, however, I gladly addressed my question to her. The groomer seemed irritated to have to explain the breakdown of costs, but I learned the higher bill this time around was for a teeth cleaning. In my experience at Pete and Mac's, the groomer comes out to the front desk area to get the pet they are grooming and goes over what will be done during the appointment with the owner at the beginning of the appointment, and that did not happen during this grooming service. As a customer, it does not make me confident in the business when the staff can not provide a simple explanation of the grooming bill and perceives inquiries about services and bills as problematic. So, don't go to Pete and Mac's if you want to know exactly what you are paying for and expect to receive the services you're paying for. read more

I think the staff a Pete N Mac's is very nice, and they love my first babies to death. But the staff could seriously use some training on how to run the front desk. Twice in the past month, I have waited out in my car, in 100°+ degree weather, while new clients filled out their paperwork with their dogs in the lobby. I'm sorry, but I have 2 large Belgian Malinois dogs and I will not take them inside when there are other dogs on the lobby. I don't feel it's safe to do so. While I understand new clients have to fill out paperwork, why can't the staff take the dog(s) on the back in the meantime? Today I waited 15 minutes in my car, last time it was closer to 20 minutes. It was unfortunate that after making telephone arrangements to have our dogs groomed while being boarded at Pete and Mac's in Gilbert, AZ, then verifying the grooming appointment when we dropped off our pups, we found out when we picked them up that they were not groomed. In fact, the receptionist kept telling us that "we never made an appointment" (although we have a voice mail from P&Ms stating otherwise). The receptionist was adamant that no appointment for grooming was ever made, implying that it was our problem, not theirs. We're not the type of people that demand a pound of flesh...we understand that mistakes happen. But really, can we all agree that common courtesy suggests that a simple "I'm sorry" goes a long way. read more

I've boarded my dogs here a few times. The first time went OK. The second time, they allowed the dogs to rip up a $60 harness. The last time I spent $500 for Spring Break boarding just to incur a $550 vet bill a few days later. Both dogs have kennel cough. Pete & Mac's said they are sorry and hope my dogs feel better. They also confirmed there are additional cases. I wonder if they are letting their guest know?? Also, they always ask for groomer tips before I get to see the dogs. This is a disservice to the groomer. read more

So very disappointed to have to be posting this review as I'm dealing with guilt for not having read more reviews before boarding our sweet Charlie last week! He spent 8 days at this Gilbert facility and all seemed to have gone okay. We picked him up Sunday mid morning but by Monday his left eye seemed to have something wrong with it and was getting infected. We got him into the vet yesterday since it didn't resolve and found that he has a small tear in a layer of his eyelid(can't know for sure by presumably from playing with a rougher dog). Charlie is a sweet floppy Lab that is NOT aggressive or even very rambunctious. He's mellow enough to be trained for lower level service animal if that's any indicator of his energy level, and he looooves all other animals- not a mean bone in him to have gotten into any altercations. After getting him fixed up at the vet for his eye, we got him home only to have him begin horribly coughing and gagging last night- you guessed it- kennel cough. Charlie is SO well cared for at home, he's vaccinated and we have NEVER had this happen at our previous facility. I am FUMING and feel so horrible for him at the same time. Do NOT board your pets at Pete and Macs. Even if a few have good experiences, the number of kennel cough posts I now just saw should be enough to warrant finding somewhere else that better insures it's guests are vaccinated and healthy sounding upon arrival. :( read more

My 3.5 year old Germain Shorthaired Pointer stayed here for 10 days while we were on vacation recently. He is a high energy, happy dog, so we thought he would have fun here while we were gone. We decided to do every other day daycare so he would have time to recoup between days. When we dropped him off, we went to the back to see his accommodations. The kennel area was noticeably warmer than the lobby and smelled. Not like feces or urine, just bad. The air just seemed thick and moist. When we got to his "room" (glass block or not, these are no different than the pound in my opinion) and he wouldn't go inside. He had to be carried in. He was given a raised cot, but there was no bedding or anything like that on it. If I had realized this I would have brought him something more comfortable, but that's my fault. When we picked him up he was TIRED. We have boarded him before elsewhere, so we expected it, but 3 days later he still wasn't feeling well. We got a call from Pete and Macs asking how he was doing, and I told them he wasn't feeling well. She brushed it off to him being tired, but I told her I didn't think that's what it was. Later that day, he started coughing. It kept getting worse and worse, and we come to find out he has kennel cough. If you've never heard it before, it sounds like a hacking, barking seal. It's the saddest thing ever. I did some research and spoke to the vet, and while kennel cough is common in boarding facilities, there are ways to prevent it. It's airborne, so proper ventilation and air purifiers are crucial to keeping the illness down. Based on my experience being back there, that air is NOT circulating, let alone filtered. We paid a LOT of money for our dog to be there and he ended up sick. I feel like for the money there are much better options. I'm sad because I really wanted to like this place and have it available if we needed it. Edited to add: I do want to say that the employees there were all very nice and professional. I think that's important to comment on! Also, like I said before, we have boarded him before and he's never been sick. He was also seen by the vet about a month before we boarded him for his annual check up and vaccines and he was perfect. read more

Was very upset when I picked up my 2 dogs after they spent a full week at Pete and Macs and they both smelled terrible. The Maltese was released to us with feces on his behind mashed in his fur. This never happens at home so I'm wondering what kind of care or living situation are they actually staying in. I had to take him back in to get it washed off, it was not small, it was like a regular bm stuck on him. Yuk! We have taken our pets here for years, and never has it smelled so gross and disgusting as when we picked them up as well. People are friendly but the place needs to be cleaned and disinfected daily. We are definitely looking into other options. Also, leashed wreaked of urine, like they had been soaked in it. I'm so disappointed, this used to be a great clean reputable place. :/ read more

I like that they are attentive and polite when booking. I do believe they care. Issues I have noticed: (1) 7/19/15 last time I picked them up they didn't feed my dogs as instructed with vet prescribed canned food. Pretty important. I didn't realise it until my wife asked if there was any food left after check out. They went in back and brought back both cans that were supposed to be gone only after we asked the question. (2) On my last visit in June 2015, I was not given any food or my measuring cup back after I picked up the dogs. Either the dogs were over fed or they threw away or stored the excess food for unknown reasons. They also tried to keep the Tupperware. I love my pets and I am a bit skeptical. I have about 12 nights for both dobies now and after 13 you get a night for free. I will probably start looking at other options and forgo the free night. read more

Our first trip was for day care. Our puppy was about 10 months old 35 lbs. she had never been left before but she socializes with other dogs a lot. So I wasn't too worried. She came home exhausted and soaking wet -- however she came home with deep puncture wounds under her neck that became infected almost immediately and it ended up costing a trip to the vet ER and about $350! So either there was no supervision or they were really clueless as to the intensity of play time. I informed the staff and they did call the next day to see how she was doing and offer some free daycare. Have not gone back yet but will not allow her in with the big dogs. read more

I can't give them only 1 star because they were very welcoming with my pitbull which is hard to come by. I've never been in the place before covid so I was unable to see the kennels and daycare areas which was a big upset and worry for me but I understand the precautions they have to take. I was worried about my girl getting along with other dogs since she won't start anything but if a dog is mean to her she will be mean back and when I would pick up from daycare they said oh yeah she's great but being a dog groomer working at bad salons that tell owners whatever they wanna hear it freaked me out. But I have them another shot and then I got a report card with an adorable picture of her on it and I was so happy. But then 2 days later she starts honking and coughing and come to find out... kennel cough. I called to let them know about how she got it and should warn other parents but they didn't seem to be bothered by it and just said sorry but we haven't had any other cases and I hope she feels better. Dropped my pup (5 months old) of there for his second visit and asked them to keep him with the small dogs for the first few times. Received a call a few hours after I dropped him off that my pup was attacked and was at the emergency vet. After talking with the vet he went in to surgery for his multiple wounds and has over 20 stiches. I stopped by there office to ask for information of what happened and what dog attacked him and I was told basically it was none of my business. My lawyer is now handling this and there is almost $2000 in vet bills. KEEP YOU PET AWAY!!!! read more

Even as a new customer, the girls already know who I am, rather the which dog I'm picking up. The 3 times I've used them for daycare, the person helping me was giving me stories of my puppy when they were also watching the dogs from the front counter. They were watching in addition to the specific person monitoring the dogs. Will continue to take my dog here! read more
