It's no longer Violette- More correctly the restaurant is now called "Petite Violette." Apparently the people who owned Petite Auberge in Toco Hills have moved to the Violette location. Petite Violette hosted our surprise 50th birthday. We had 50 guests in an elegant room that had a wall of windows to view the forest and French doors that opened onto a lovely garden. It was $40/ guest. The crystal chandeliers evoked a sense of turn of the century continental flare. The staff, especially Phillip, were gracious for our every need - making me feel like a Modern day Marie Antoinette - give me a lighter- yes ma'am. Light these sparkling candles - yes ma'am. Let them eat buffet --we thought you'd never ask YES MAAM!! The food was good and they let us have karaoke. When I ventured out into the restaurant I saw fashionable young men and women drinking French wine all Ooh LALa. They had no idea we were singing karaoke next door. They couldn't "hear the people sing" (from Les Mis ;) )The girls were dressed in Atlanta fashion short tight dresses with lush fabrics like Satin and silk and spandex . We came to this cute little restaurant for a business meeting. From the outside, it really doesn't appear to be much, however, upon entry, you're able to see the style and elegance of the place. Chic and intimate are the words I would use to describe the atmosphere. Unfortunately, they're similar to a lot of other Atlanta restaurants with valet parking and if not valet, it's gravel parking and side street parking available. Upon entry, the hostess was very sweet and offered bar seating until our party arrived. We were quickly seated and served water and the most delicious rolls we'd had in a long time. We started with the grilled Brussel sprouts which were amazing. We ordered our entrees which were all prepared to perfection. Lamb burger and salads! Amazing!! We tried the dessert of bread pudding and it was amazing. I will certainly give them a try for dinner. This place is truly a hidden gem. read more

I reserved a table here for my 28th birthday 8-10-2022 the ambiance and food was great but when it came to the etiquette and just overall human decency they failed. Miranda the manager was very aggressive in asking if my party was gonna arrive she was so rude and made it adamant they close @ 9 so the party needed ti get there out they won't take our order. So embarrassing! My friends and I were having fun taking pictures after our amazing meal and after we paid the bill the manager Miranda came back and yelled "did my servers not give you good service?! And we said what? Each of us paying our own bill we were all puzzled she said one or two of you didn't tip well. Wow. So disgustingly she then proceeded to tell us that her servers work hard and read off all the low amount of tips some people paid. If you wanna be downright embarrassed and treated differently then go here! So disappointing how one bad apple can make a place so exquisitely put together look so low budget they need new management asap!! read more

We attended the Murder and Mayhem dinner last night. The actors did a great job, and everyone seemed to have a great time. But the food was second rate, not what I expected from a French restaurant. Nothing in the list of entrees was especially French, and all of the choices were what would be the least expensive options on any menu. I ordered the beef steak with Bernaise sauce, which did not come with Bernaise sauce, but a brown sauce that looked like it had been made from a gravy powder with cornstarch. Nothing was well-seasoned. The promo made me think the dinner would be accompanied by specially selected wine for each course, but instead we just had a choice of one glass of one ordinary red or white wine to go with the entire meal. If we wanted a drink with the appetizer course, we had to pay extra for it. And instead of having a choice for dessert, everyone got the same thing. There was no accommodation made for people with impaired hearing. Although I wear a hearing aid, I was seated in the back of the room and couldn't hear very well when most of the action was at the front of the room. So... I wish I spoke French.. I looked over their menu online, saw rabbit and didn't look any further. Only when I got to the restaurant, it became apparent that Les plats du Jour are only served on certain days. Duh. Who doesn't know "du jour??". It would have helped if I knew days of the week as that would have been the biggest clue. Well, my brain just decided to overlook this fact so rabbit there was none :(. However, the menu is good and I was able to somewhat recover.. Sort of.. Know your French! lol I really enjoyed the interior. Very quaint, romantic, with a French vibe. For my app I tried foie gras aux pommes over lentil salad - excellent! Very good portion size at that - 3 pieces. My main dish was duck breast with sweet potato hash and green beans. Cooked a perfect med-rare. One of the best duck dishes I've ever had. Dessert: creme brulee - disappointing. Very soft and almost watery. Overall: They have live music on Thurs and Sat, full bar, plenty of parking, daily specials, very prompt service and lovely atmosphere. I want to come back Thur for the rabbit, if they keep their menu the same. Definitely recommend this restaurant! Perfect date night destination. read more

Ehhhh. During these times I really really don't like giving subpar reviews. But I just can't break 2.5 for this restaurant. The ambiance was nice and the tables were well separated, but the service and food quality was lacking. The scallop dish came out cold, and there was still sand imbedded in the scallops. The tuna on the salad was not the freshest cut - tasted like something you might get in the premade salad section at Whole Foods. It was difficult to eat. The lobster crepe was mediocre and also did not come out hot. And the chocolate cake part of the dessert was flavorless and dried out. For the prices, it was disappointing. The service was lacking, as our water ran out on a couple of occasions, and the server seemed detached and not very friendly. She was more into going through the motions to drop things at our table and didn't come around often. (They were not busy). Again, I know restaurants are struggling, but I would think because the industry is so competitive, they'd be able to get better servers and better than just mediocre plates. I'm surprised it took me so long to find Violette! I usually don't travel far outside midtown or buckhead but this place is definitely worth it! I had the lentil soup which was very flavorful and delicious. Niçoise salad was delicious as well. For my entree I had sea bass and it was absolutely amazing! It was cooked perfect. Violette creates authentic French dishes with great service in a beautiful environment. It's in this cute little building, and they seated us in the "greenhouse" area, so that we felt we were surrounded in greenery and flowers. So pretty! I had my favorite French dish, a bouillabaisse, rouille. The seafood assortment included fish, scallops, mussels, and shrimp with chunks of potatoes and bread simmered in saffron and pastis. The saffron broth was so good I was literally slurping it up. Yum. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. Extremely professional and pleasant. read more

The food was excellent but the Server continued to rush us. The restaurant was empty. It was my birthday. We ordered drinks, appetizers, wine, steaks, and desserts. We would have ordered after dinner drinks but she kept coming by the table and picking dishes up. At one point she took my bread before I was finished with my meal!! LOVED the Escargot. Cons: 1)The wait. It took 40 min to get our food! It was a Monday night! I am just glad that I was in good company and had wine, to distract me. 2)Endive salad. This is not my first time having this salad. It is however, my first time having it in a watery mayonnaise sauce. 3)The Coq Au Vin. Served lukewarm and covered in a bland beef gravy with no trace of port wine, and small sliced mushrooms. The chicken was very fatty as well. 4) The sides were cold, and consisted of Julienned carrots and a mash potato/spinach mix that was similar to the powdered version. :( Next time I go to Violette, it will be for wine and dessert only. Started with bread and it was really good! Next came my caesar salad that was mixed very well with not too much dressing but would like to see more croutons. Absolutely loved this place! My mom suggested it so I was kind of iffy but thrilled that I tried it. Its a cute place, maybe would do well with a little updating but otherwise cute with a lot more booths than I expect it. Leave aside whether they are 100% French or not they do have some signature dishes that are French. Our server Yesenia was AMAZING! She treated my daughter with so much respect and attentiveness and this is clearly not a restaurant geared for kids. She got a chicken filled crepe that they were able to make just for her without all the veggies. She absolutely loved it! I ordered the lamb burger on lettuce wrap and they outdid themselves trying to make it super presentable and even apologized in case they didnt meet my expectations. They did! That was by far the best lettuce wrap presentation I had in a while. The lamb was also super juicy and I could see the grill marks on the burger. But the piece de resistance was the flourless chocolate cake/mousse. We will drive out there JUST for that again! Don't let naysayers tell you this is not a good place. It's incredible! read more

The restaurant is close to my job so I figured I'd give it a try. I decided to try the chicken and cheese stuffed ravioli. The ravioli was toped with garlic and an Alfredo sauce. It was decent. Not the best ravoili I've ever had but certainly not the worst either. The service was mediocre. The hostess took my drink and food order then someone else brought my food, refills and check. Petite Violette is a excellent and cozy little French restaurant on Clairmont road right by the I-85 overpass. I think that the restaurant does really well at what it aims to do--namely, higher end French cuisine and an upscale dining experience. The food was stellar, and everything was cook well and finished artistically. While I'm not much of a wine drinker, they do have a great list. When you come here, you're coming for the experience and the exquisite flavors--not to gorge on buffet or a budget meal. So you should not come here to get full, you should come here to have a treat on special occasions, or with business colleagues, etc. The service was great, which is should have been because it wasn't busy at the time. But I got the sense that they have a decent sized wait staff and and they really do go out of their way to serve. The prices match the going rate for this kind of cuisine, but it is not a cheap dining experience. The atmosphere was excellent and quite cozy. I took my new woman there last night for her first French experience, this place completely missed the mark! The foie gras was cold, it didn't taste worth a damn! The escargot seemed partially cold as if it were sitting for a while before they served it to us! However, what really pissed me off the most! Our waitress didn't know how to open a wine bottle! Given the fact that I ordered a 10 year old Bordeaux, she didn't even ask if we would like a decanter?! When I asked her for a decanter, her reply was... "is that one of those glass things? I think we have some in the back." Then finally 10 minutes later when she brought the decanter out, she places it on the table, was about to walk away, I looked at her like she was stupid, then that's when she asked... "Oh, you want me to pour your wine in here for you?" Well that depends lady, you want me to tip you when I'm doing paying?! The beef Wellington I ordered tasted like pot roast from a school cafeteria! I cannot tell you how much I hate this place! Parking lot the size of a closet, and they have the nerve to run valet. This place was recommended to us by my dad who used to take my mom here. The ambiance is classic and the service is up to par. We ordered the scallops and steak as entrees. This had potential. Great little band in the corner, kind of a cute bistro atmosphere, and one of the few places you can try to get a Beef Wellington. I do think that the foie gras appetizer was outstanding, and our server was just lovely. However, my scallop entree was just "ish" the potatoes could have definitely used a good dose more of butter and salt, there was entirely too much spinach and the scallops were bordering on raw. My guy had the beef Wellington and it was well done in the middle, so he sent it back. Our desserts weren't too shabby, but it wasn't memorable enough to make me want to seek it out over other options for dining. read more

I ordered takeout meals for Christmas Eve and Day for the second year in a row. I especially anticipated the salmon/pasta entree which I thoroughly enjoyed in 2020. Sadly, I was disappointed. The sauce on the pasta was watery and tasteless. So watery, in fact, that a lot of it leaked from the container into the bag. The salmon had no flavor. This year, this dish also had chunks of tough asparagus tossed in for color, I suppose. The turkey meal - average. Chocolate mousse - average. Bread pudding - a mini loaf of tough slices with little flavor. These meals were certainly not worth the $100. I'll plan to cook myself or order elsewhere this year. read more

We were here a number of years ago for a luncheon and were coming for another luncheon (later in the week). We decided, after looking at the menu online, to try it for dinner. We were so happy that we did. The server, Carson, was terrific - friendly and very helpful in making the right food choices. I got the sweet potato soup and it was delicious, with little sweet nuts on top. We easily split a caesar salad (with anchovies). For entrees, we got the lamb rack and the lobster special - both very tasty. The lamb was superb. The lobster dish had big chunks of lobster but also had noodles - more than we would have liked. We shared our dishes so it made a good combination. We ended the meal by splitting the bread pudding which had a delicious sauce with it. To go with the meal, one of us had a German beer and one had a glass of sparkling moscato wine - good accompaniments. The atmosphere was lovely, the server terrific, the food fabulous. If you want a special meal, this is the place to go. The owner/manager stopped at the table to see how we were doing. I told him we'd have to keep coming back since I liked everything on the menu.
