"Hook and Hoof" has been in downtown Willoughby for quite a while so they must be doing something right. And the fact that there aren't that many high level dining establishments in the Willoughby area helps. The first thing I noticed was the facility is very narrow which lends to a crowded feel. And all you need is one overly boisterous table (which was right next to us) and the noise level can be overwhelming. The server we had for the evening was very pleasant. She did a good job being timely with everything. But, it was odd that she often did not listen to an entire request (or maybe just couldn't hear) before walking away. There were a couple of requests for simple standard items that she wasn't even sure they had. I just found it odd. The food however was excellent. The kitchen staff did an exemplary job all night. I had a marvelous cocktail from the well stocked bar. And my double cut pork chop was fantastic. So full of flavor, juicy, cooked exactly as I requested. The sides that accompanied it were just tender enough without being mushy. And my banana cream pie was great. Overall, I give "Hook and Hoof" a solid 4. I definitely can see us going back. They deserve another try. You should give them a try and see for yourself.

I will say the service was very slow, especially considering it was a Monday and hardly anyone else there - but I do acknowledge that they are a from scratch kitchen, so it makes sense. I will also say the portion sizes are a little small, but we all enjoyed our meals!

They were very great and informed about our needs (as someone at our table has a severe food allergy). We tried multiple dishes and they were all so yummy - very fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with "Sage Karma Kitchen". We showed up there for a quick dinner. The room was maybe 25% full. Plenty of room for seating. The hostess thought it was a great idea to sit us directly in the scorching sun rather than every other table in the room that would have been shaded... oh well. Our waitress showed up to take our order before we had a chance to even pick up the menus. We asked for just a couple minutes and she cheerfully walked away. Seemingly, never to return. I looked all around for her until I found her leaning on the bar talking to friends. We finally placed our orders, somewhat begrudgingly. My wife had a bowl that she definitely enjoyed very much. She said she would like to return to try it again. I struggled to find anything on the menu that sounded remotely interesting and finally just ordered the hummus appetizer. I fear they left the flavor in the kitchen. It certainly never arrived at my table. When we were ready to leave I had to begin the search once more for our waitress. She was nowhere to be found. I couldn't even enlist the aid of the hostess because she had found a group of her own friends to talk with. Finally, I found our waitress and was able to escape. The two stars is only because my wife enjoyed her bowl. For me... naaa! Too bad. No second chance here.

I was happy to dine at this establishment for a family gathering…read more The space is great...really wide open and welcoming. We sat at tables that were pulled together for us...but there was plenty of bar seating as well. Our initial contact with the staff was upbeat and jovial...it was very surprising. They were helpful and definitely put us in a relaxed mood. I had a lot of questions regarding the menu, but was helped in a kind and patient manner. I ordered the sheet tray nachos, a vegetarian version of the sheet tray nachos, the fries, and the pierogi blt tacos. The food came out in a timely manner, and everything was tasty. My favorite were the pierogi blt tacos. How genius is it to cut open a potato pierogi and stuff it... So. Brilliant. The outside was crispy and the inside was warm and soft. The crispy bacon was the key ingredient, but the lettuce and tomato really completed the 'familiar flavors' and added texture I will definitely be back to try more food!

I added a pizza because it looked good and she said the pepperoni sausage was their biggest seller. My most favorite thing was the pizza. Bologna sandwich, although it was a weird concoction, for some reason really worked. The BLT pierogies were just kind of OK for me. My colleague got the Smashburger that was called the bend burger and he said it was really good. All in all though because of the service and the food I would be back here without a problem.
