Swenson's is a drive-in establishment that I swung by at in Cleveland this summer. The idea is that you drive up, then the friendly staff come to the window and take orders. There is no seating inside. Swenson's staff are charming, quick (not abrupt) and unlike the big burger-vendors (ie Burger King); are well trained and polite. The server that I happened to come by, was exceptionally friendly and quick to step! The burger seen in photos was hot, fat and solid. The bread delicious. The cheese was melted nicely. Burgers are a good money value and are cooked to your order. The mushroom balls (photo) were delectable, and are not found often on menus. I enjoy them, as I pick mushrooms. The place was clean. I had to be informed we don't need to come in they provide full service. The customer service was timely and accurate. The food was delivered to the car window with a tray and stand. The food was tasty. Their shakes are so delicious. We're from Akron OH so we've gone to Swensons for years. The food at this one is as good as we're accustomed to. However they consistently do not pay attention to details of the order and you discover something is wrong with your order after you get home. Tonight I ordered a shrimp dinner with Cole slaw and discovered that my dinner box did not contain this or any side. On another occasion I ordered this same meal and received apple sauce instead of slaw! They need to have better quality control! read more

Swenson's is always a solid, slightly elevated, fast food place. I love that I don't have to worry about them telling me their ice cream machine is broken or that they are only taking cash. I usually get the garden burger even though I eat meat. It's one of my favorite veggie patties and it works so well with the BBQ sauce they put on it. The service at this location is always fast and friendly. These young people are really hustling in and out of the building so I'm always happy to leave a tip. I also love their seasonal milkshakes. The summer one right now is strawberry shortcake, which was very good. Can't wait for the carmel apple to come back in the fall. read more

Every time I've been here, it's been a great experience. You pull up to the building and leave your headlights on. A server comes out and takes your order. And before you know it, they return with some hot, fresh food. I highly recommend their onion rings. For my vegetarians out there, they make an excellent veggie burger. Verdict: INCONSISTENT (*) I came here twice total, around March of this year. The first time I ordered a Salad Boy with the sauces from the Galley Boy, Potato Teezers, Fried Zucchini, Onion Rings, and a Strawberry Pineapple Milkshake. Everything was great! Hamburgers of any kind are not my favorite, but I couldn't wait to go back again. Which I did about a week later. Second time I ordered the same Salad Boy, Zucchini Fries & Potato Teezers, a Strawberry Pineapple Milkshake, and a Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake. And I brought my mom, got her a Strawberry Pineapple Milkshake which she tried last time and loved, a Galley Boy, and Fried Mushrooms. The zucchini and potatoes were the same, we shared all the sides (can't remember the mushrooms), but this time everything else was different. Even the milkshakes? My mom was underwhelmed by the hamburger, which of course I thought she must just be wrong, but when I tried mine, I was surprised that it really didn't taste the same as last time I'd had it. It had all the same ingredients, but something was different. Maybe the temperature? I'm not sure. The strawberry pineapple milkshake didn't have enough flavor, it wasn't even close to being the same or as good as the last time. Bland Chocolate PB milkshake too. I was disappointed, enough I guess to never go back yet. It is the worst to go somewhere and love the food, and when you go back it's not what you had before. This is a new location to the timeless Cleveland Favorite. So because it is new, they have people directing the traffic because it is also a tight parking lot. If you aren't familar, you pull into a spot and when you put on you lights you are greeter by a server. They bring your food to you car when completed. I was last at Swenson's about five years ago when we were traveling through Ohio. I went to the one in Akron. I know we're just talking cheeseburgers, but there's just something about the food here that's good. On the road again in Ohio and saw that there was a new Swensons that opened up two weeks ago. So we stopped and we got our two Galley boys. One with onion rings and the other with french fries. As for the drinks, my wife got the California but I got a classic vanilla milkshake. Again, I know we're just talking cheeseburgers, but there's something old fashioned almost nostalgic about this food. read more

So happy that this little shop opened up in Willoughby- we needed a little drive in, especially with summer it is the perfect timing for opening! I attended a fundraiser at this location before swensons was open to the public. As soon as you pull in, one of the "runners"( and I use that term quite literally) will run up to your window and take your order and then run with your food to the car on a tray when your order is ready. They will use a little tray and clip it on your window to serve your food. They even gifted me with a little sauce holder that I can clip to my air vent in the car and use. Super cute! The only thing is the portions with the burgers are a bit small but tasted amazing. Will definitely be returning! read more

Brought my order home and unwrapped it. I ordered a Galley Boy, potato puffs, and a jamocha shake. The total bill was under $10 Plus I tipped the car hop a couple bucks. The taste of the food and the shake is very good. The portion size.... Well I would have rather paid an extra dollar or two and gotten a larger Burger. I'm a regular here for lunch. My selection is usually a cheeseburger with LTOPKMM. I drive up, park, someone runs out and takes my order and brings it out in 5 minutes.
