Great Food and service! Pizza is delicious, burgers are really good! We frequently eat here!

I've been back to The Hambone several times since my first review 2 years ago. The most recent was this past Monday. I have to say that their food is still quite good, but the service and the time it takes to get your food was nowhere near what it was when I first reviewed them. We were meeting another couple there and got there first. We ordered a simple order of chips and salsa. About 10 minutes later, the other couple arrived. 10 or 15 minutes after that, still no chips. We flagged down the server to ask about the chips. She left and came back with them inferring that she had to get them herself. We ordered our meals and they also took forever as did getting more beers when mine was empty. When the food came, one plate came with loaded fries that we didn't order. The server said she would take them off of the bill. Silly me, I didn't catch it until I looked at the bill at home, but the loaded fries were never removed. Based on this visit, I'd rate the food a 4 and the service a 2. I'm sure we'll be back because they are local, and hopefully their service is improved. read more

Food was on the smaller size, but prices were not. They were out of what I wanted so I had to choose a second option. My chicken cutlet was soooo thin it barely had meat. Service was ok - there was always a server close by but literally no one smiled. No one was sure if they had milk for kids but then someone found some. It felt like everyone was brand new and not sure of what they had. It was fine, but there are other places with better value in the area, in our opinions. read more

I want to start by saying that both the food and service were excellent. I ordered the steakhouse burger and my wife had their version of the Roman burger--both were very good. We also tried the pickle chips and pretzel bites, and both appetizers were delicious. However, when we received the check, the prices were noticeably higher than what was listed on the menu. On top of that, there was an unexpected $3 "check fee" added to the bill. In total, two burgers, two appetizers, and one beer came to $70, which felt excessive given the menu pricing. read more

only took an 1:15 hours to get our food with little to no apology. they messed it up but seemed to not care with the service because they are busy. everyone around us ordered after and got there food before us. thought they might check in and care but they did not. not sure we will jo back after this experience read more

After posting my review on May 17, 2025 I got a call the next day from Jess at Hambone. She was apologetic for the bad service I received, and she offered to compensate me with either a gift card or credit for the next time we ate at the restaurant or ordered take out. Today I stopped in to inquire about ordering food for a family member's birthday. The bartender made a phone call to someone, but no one seemed to know anything about this. I provided my name, contact information, date of my original transaction with them and approximate amount I paid. I didn't have high expectations, but feel I deserved a conversation regarding this offer. The bartender promised I'd get a return phone call from the Manager, Allison, who was due to be at work within a couple hours. More than ten hours later I still haven't received a call. This is how Hambone operates. I cannot recommend this place nor will I ever patronize ever again. Positively this is one of the worst experiences I've ever encountered at a restaurant. I really want to like this place since it is so close to home. It is now called The Hambone under new ownership. I've been there several times and eaten inside. Food is decent quality. Last time I had the SW egg rolls and SW steak wrap. Last week got home after a long road trip mid-afternoon and called to order a couple burgers with onion rings to go. Whoever allowed those onion rings to exit the kitchen should be immediately fired. So overcooked most were inedible. Ordered burgers medium and they were so overcooked I could've used them to re-sole my boots. Will give them another chance sitting inside, but no more takeout orders. read more

Went there Friday for the first time. Food was good. Little misshap with my order but no big deal, it was corrected on the check and our waitress apologized. Mistakes happen and I was appreciative of her acknowledging the mistake. Would have been nice to have gotten a refill on my water during my meal instead of when we got our boxes for our food. When we got our ticket though it seemed a bit high, as thought maybe they increased their prices and didn't update the menu. Then there was the added check fee. Not sure if this is advertised anywhere in the restaurant and I missed it but I would have rather paid cash and use that couple bucks I saved not paying a check fee and added more to our waitress tip. read more

Service was slow for a 1/3 full restaurant. My grilled chicken club had burnt bacon, burnt chicken and lukewarm warm fries. Hubby's salad was on the smaller side for an entree and he said it was nothing to write home about. When it came time to pay, she kept the coin part of the change instead of giving it to us (that is a HUGE no to us), and the paper change provided was wrong. We drive for good restaurants and good experiences....we won't be back unfortunately. read more

Great place! The calzones are really good. I've yet to get something that didn't taste good. Their specials are always good as well. It's a fun place! Played a fun round of trivia as well one night. Highly recommended! read more

Baseball review again. Surprise! Very small place when you walk in. I didnt venture around but seemed as though there was another small area with access to a patio type space that you could go to. I didnt eat, but I will say the few things I saw come out looked like what I would expect from a small local place: and that is awesome! The special was a double bacon cheeseburger. How can one go wrong there? The bartender was very kind, so guessing service is typically good. The decor was crazy with dollar bills hanging everywhere. Have seen similar places like that, but no where near this. Men's bathroom urinal was the most interesting I have ever seen. Just an addition thinking okay...cool dive like expectation. Beer was expensive for a pint, but oh well. One and done amd out the door for baseball. Try it! I will for food next time. read more

On a drive through Ohio??? Stop at Hambone for sure. Newly owned and remodeled-even has an outdoor bar and patio! Enjoy the great food, served with a smile and "extra special love!" I was with a group and all of us had different ideas of what to eat. Burgers, tacos, calzones, pizzas, quesadillas, salads and on and on. Every meal outstanding!! Most unusual . . . Three enormous breadsticks stuffed with fresh chicken or pepperoni and cheese, served with ranch and marinara! read more

Their pizza is good BUT COULD be excellent if they put the cheese all the way to the edge. I have ordered it 3-4 times and every time I get a pile of cheese about 6-8" in the center (depends what size you order) but nothing to the edge. Put the cheese to the edge so I can leave a review about your EXCELLENT PIZZA. read more

Went here for the first time ever a couple weeks ago for lunch during the work week. Everything inside looks pretty new. They have a bar and regular seating. They also have an outdoor bar and seating area that will be very nice come spring/summer. Wife had a southwest salad and I got the patty melt and fries. The salad was a very good size with lots of chicken and she liked the dressing that it came with. The patty melt was a big burger. Very juicy and the special sauce was excellent. The fries were nice and crispy and had a very good seasoning on them. I had a side of sauce to dip them and the patty melt in as well. Selection was very good, so many different options to choose from. Service was good and the food came out fairly quick though the place was mostly empty at the time so that's to be expected. Can't speak to how they are when busy. I tried to go back with my family on a Friday night last week and it was absolutely packed with a hour wait so don't make my mistake and think it won't be busy during prime hours because it was mostly empty during the day. I'll definitely try to hit them up for lunch again soon. read more

The food was disappointing. I got the pizza, which was a good value, but it was horrible. The sauce was a total failure and the crust was really gummy the next day. The service okay; no real complaints. The atmosphere was ok. read more

Mary H. deserves a raise. The exuberant energy and constant help was impeccable. As we sat down at our table she greeted us with an infectious smile and made sure we treated with the perfect drinks. The old fashion was impeccable and such a great choice. Mary recommended the red Roman and it was a fantastic choice. All in all Mary H made this one of the most fine experiences I have ever had. read more

I've only been to this place a couple of times after they renovated, but it's super cool. I love the painted wall. The staff is very friendly and they are not afraid to joke around with you. The food is good. It's a nice place to eat with family and friends. read more

We have loved the HCI for many, many years. From the age of 21 to 36 I have images bright & clear of so many wonderful times to recall within those walls and on the outside walkway before the patio. Great memories were made at the Hambden Country Inn. Glad walls don't talk hahaha! We either eat there or drink & order our food to go. The convenience of being 1 minute away from HCI is a huge plus for great service and amazing food so near it's still hot & fresh when we pull in! Their burgers are the bomb, can't go wrong! Bri loves their Romanburger. With kids we're not there like we were when we all were a wild bunch of young wild adults haha! For years if we called our number would come up as "Mailman Bri," it's those little things that meant the most. Not just a number, we have always been treated as welcome guests, even after we had kids, with less time there. That's the sign of great owner's that will always have our loyalty and patronage. Brian & I make a point of going once a year together to pay our respects and relish the nostalgia of the past. While appreciating all the growth and wonderful changes that have come with time. The ownership must have changed hands. the food was really different. They used to have the best fries around! now they are frozen shoestring style Celery and ranch or blue cheese are no longer included with an order of wings. really disappointing read more

Just a friendly suggestion that they may or may not see. I live near HCI and have noticed recently 6/20/19 that signs have been hung on the building regarding take out food and orders. The is nowhere online social media where you can see a menu. DUH! read more

BEST BURGERS and FRIES for miles and miles. This is a beer joint with a kitchen that recognizes the need to put out exceptional food to get people to make the drive best kept secret in the area. Grab a seat at the bar and get ready to experience something really special the pickle relish on the burger is a must as well as the malt vinegar on the hot fresh cut fries. My husband, mother-in-law and I tried this place on a whim last fall. Admittedly, we were skeptical, because it doesn't look like much from outside and my mil uses a walker and it didn't look especially accessible, but we were hungry and didn't know the area. It was awesome! The employees were so welcoming and friendly, helping my mil to enter and get situated and serving us very quickly and efficiently. The menu was much more extensive than we expected and our food arrived fast and hot. It was delicious. We all had chicken sandwiches and enjoyed them quite a bit. Too much food to finish so we took half home. Seems like a neighborhood place where everyone knows everyone, but new faces still welcomed. We would definitely return. read more

I had no idea this bar was a fabulous place to eat. My husband and I both agree they make the best burgers in town. The menu has great variety and the food tastes chef level quality not typical bar fry cook fare. We love the homemade soups. Tasty hot wings. Large portion salads. Can't wait to go back and try other menu items. read more

Was in town for a thing recently & saw on yelp here it has the best burgers for miles, so we immediately chose to go there for lunch. Wow. So good. The waitress was really nice and personable and was quick to take our orders, get our food, and make just the right amount of friendly conversation. read more

I drove by this for years and never stopped in. Went in for a beer and a burger on a whim one day and have been back many times. Don't fool yourself, it's not restaurant. It's a bar with a kitchen that knows what it's doing. Try their gyro. read more
